10 Must-Try Restaurants in La Jolla San Diego | Eater

"Take in a stunning view of the ocean while you dine on quality seafood at Eddie V’s. Taste-test East Coast vs. West Coast oysters or sample the kung pao calamari while sipping one of the bar’s “cocktails with attitude.” Try The Elixir, a cocktail poured tableside made with gin, bergamot liqueur, and basil-infused oil. The food, meanwhile, caters to all tastes with its children’s menu and extensive gluten-sensitive selection." - Vox Creative

Eddie V’s, thank you for making our one year anniversary SO special!! From checking in to leaving, we had a great experience. When we arrived to our table, there was a little note and rose petals! I was so touched. We had an incredible view overlooking the ocean- we had actually sea kayaked during the day and were delighted to see the sea cave down below! We brought our own bottle of wine and paid a corkage fee- the server was sweet to suggest we keep the cork and he even brought a sharpie for us to label it with the date. We ordered the lobster tacos as an appetizer and those are not to be missed. Delicious. We then ordered the crab stuffed shrimp, a steak, and the crab fried rice to share. The perfect amount of food for two people! Everything was incredible- the steak was cooked to perfection. The crab fried rice was so filling. We were then brought a special anniversary dessert! We were so well taken care of. I hope to return for our next special celebration.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was my first time dining at Eddie V’s with my girlfriend, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences we’ve had — all thanks to Max. From the moment we were seated, Max made us feel welcomed and taken care of. I mentioned right away that I wasn’t the biggest fan of seafood, and without hesitation, he came up with a perfect solution: steak. Let me tell you… it was the BEST steak I’ve ever had. My girlfriend ordered seafood and loved every bite as well. What stood out the most wasn’t just the incredible food, but the way Max carried himself. He was extremely professional, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our experience special. Since it was our first time, he went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and taken care of. Because of Max, we will 100% be back again. If you’re planning to visit Eddie V’s, ask for Max — trust me, you’ll be in great hands. Thank you again for making our night so memorable!

We LOVE Eddie V's!! Have been to Austin, TX & Scottsdale, AZ locations. Had a lovely evening celebrating our 30th anniversary in La Jolla, CA. Excellent service by Rachel C, she was AWESOME!!! The food, the drinks & the dessert were absolutely delicious. 😋 Eddie V's, always a superb dining experience everytime...#FIRSTCLASS. 🍾🥂

Google
Eddie V’s has great view and in a prime spot, especially at sunset with outdoor seating. While the oysters were fresh and the calamari decent, the overall food quality was underwhelming. The filet lacked flavor, yellow tail sashimi no personality and presentation fell short, especially given the premium pricing. The restaurant including the menu could use a refresh.

Google
I've never given a review before I've eaten the meal, however, Max, our server is so amazing. I wanted to write it down. He's the kind of server that makes you want to come back again. And what a fantastic view! Edit- we finished the food and it was fantastic. I had a wagyu beef strip steak and my wife had a parmesan sole. The service continued to be five stars. Edit2 - The Bananas Foster was worth the trip by itself. You will find yourself doing a whole body shiver after eating this!

Google
Sat in the bar area with my date, We were well served and food was amazing! We are an interracial couple and unfortunately at other places we’ve experienced a lot of unpleasant service from higher end restaurants but Eddie V’s was fantastic, attentive, Cheerful, and food was 10/10 … only thing my man would say needed improvement would be Reposado selection. but that’s not a factor in my rating

Google
The food is so tasty, didn’t expect that, I liked the lobster tacos, the fried rice, and the jumbo shrimp 🦐 the portion is large compared to the price. The service was excellent by Aaron 👍🏼 and the view was more than amazing.

Cincy S.

Yelp
Recently went to Eddie V's for an anniversary dinner. Our server Robert was incredibly prompt, kind and had just the perfect combination of conversation starter and sincerity. The food was great with an amazing view and must say the experience made our anniversary perfect. We would highly recommend this restaurant and if you get a chance to have Robert as your server, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Eddie V's outdid themselves on our most recent visit, last Saturday afternoon. Simply brilliant. It was graduation day for our son at UCSD, and we were scrambling to find a place to have a late lunch for a group of 9 to celebrate. We first checked Duke's and that was a no-go -- they were fully booked and not taking walk-ins at all. So, I called my old favorite Eddie V's, explained our situation, and we were offered a table of our own in the private dining room. Problem solved. When we arrived we were treated like special guests by the hostess and quickly seated. Our server arrived soon after and she was amazing -- a real joy. She took really good care of us. We ordered lots of food and drink and everything was excellent. On the food side, we started with Eddie V's famous bread, and then a big seafood tower with oysters, crab, lobster, ahi poke, and shrimp which we really enjoyed. In addition, we ordered the calamari and yellowtail sashimi which quickly disappeared. For mains, we were all over the map -- ribeye steaks, jumbo gulf shrimp, miyosaki butterfish (amazing!) -- and lots of yummy sides, including truffled mac and cheese, au gratin cheddar potatoes, grilled asparagus, and the brussels sprouts. All great! Long story short, we felt very pampered throughout our two hours at Eddie V's -- kudos to our server, the chefs, and to everyone else involved. Thank you Eddie V's for making this special occasion even more special -- we really appreciate it!

Yelp
Third time at this location and so far each time has been amazing. Had a friday night reservation here during graduation season. It wasn't completely full, maybe 70%. We had the crabcake, which is full of lump crab and accompanied by this great sauce. We tried an assortment of their oysters which were all amazing. For mains we had the 22 oz steak and the branzino. Our amazing server Max said that the branzino will avtually be taken off the menu which is such a shame. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. To accompany those mains, we had the lobster mashed potatoes which is easily one of my favorites, if not my favorite, mashed potatoes anywhere ever. One thing to note is that there's definitely some time between courses when waiting for dishes so take your time and eat slow! Our server Max was amazing and so thoughtful. We were celebrating a graduation and he came out with two complimentary desserts. The chocolate cake was like a molten lava cake and so decadant. The bananas foster was our favorite of the two but it was very close! Such a lovely experience everytime I'm here!

Yelp
Just would like to acknowledge the GM at Eddie V's La Jolla. My husband and I were walking into our favorite restaurant in La Jolla, Eddie Vs, for lunch and my husband had a mishap with his shoe sole, not realizing the GM Ben had noticed. He casually and discreetly walked over with super glue and saved our afternoon. Now, that is full service! Not to mention the food and Ambiance is always excellent. Thank you, Ben and staff.

Yelp
This place was delicious. We were walking by and craving steak so we decided to go in. They told us they were fully booked for another two hours. So we decided to go grab seats at the bar. A few minutes later the waiter came and told us they would be able to sit us. Cannot beat that kind of hospitality. We ordered some drinks. The margarita was strong and delicious. Ordered a steak medium done and it was cooked to perfection. From the appetizers that we ordered the Cesar salad was amazing. The Mac and cheese was hands down one of the best I've ever had. I would go back just for that. Really enjoyed it. The food was great and the view was even better. Sat by a window and got to watch the sunset.

Yelp
Food: excellent Service: excellent Ambiance: elegant : amazing view Came to celebrate my friend's promotion. We love steak and heard this was a place to try. Phoebe was our waitress. She made great recommendations. They had a special for their filets. You can do a 3 filets with 3 different crusts: the blue cheese, peppercorn & Parmesan crust. My fave was the Parmesan crust. They have shareable sized sides. We got the crab fried rice, au gratin potatoes and the lobster potatoes. All good portions and delicious! For dessert we had the warm chocolate cake and the lemon meringue tart. The drinks ! I had the 24 karat & the golden hour. The 24 karat was good not too sweet, golden glitter rim. The golden hour was so good, rum with guava juice. I don't know which I liked best. I tried my friend's drinks, the Java jewel which was the expresso martini. The with love Eddie and the private plane. I loved the Java jewel I love a good espresso drink. The with love Eddie and private plane were ok, I'm not a bourbon lover. All in all check it out! Good food, good drinks, amazing view.

Yelp
Great service and awesome food. We had a nice seat by the window with a view of the cove and the cave. The bread was fresh and delicious. I ordered the special which was miso butterfish. It was flavorful and delicious. The crab fried rice was really good and filled with crab and mushrooms. My husband enjoyed his filet medallions Oscar style. He said the crab on top was tasty. The dessert was a nice touch and just the right of amount. Aaron was our server and he was awesome! We will be back!

Yelp
Every part of this experience was perfection. For Mother's Day weekend, you are greeted at the door with the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries and champagne. We were seated near a window and the views were spectacular - perfect way for my dad to celebrate his 60th birthday. We got SO much food and probably overate but it was all really good. The bread to start was also delicious. - calamari (5/5 - the best thing we had it was so good!!) - truffle mac n cheese (5/5 so good!!) - triple filet sampler (4/5 - each of us liked a different sample so they were all good) - lobster (4/5 - my first time trying but it felt better than any other lobster I would ever had) - beet and burrata salad (5/5 - small ish dish) - Brussel sprouts (4/5 - good but not the best I've had personally) - filet mignon 10 oz (3/5 - not personal favorite but still good) - banana foster birthday dessert (5/5 very good!) I would absolutely come back here! So good. We loved our waiter Aaron he was awesome.

Yelp
What an amazing experience enjoying a 5 star dinner overlooking the beautiful ocean. The crowd is great, the service was exceptional, and even the manager was kind enough to thank us on our way out. We are so happy we got to experience this wonderful evening. The lobster mashed potatoes are a must, and the banana fosters butter cake is out of this world. If you are looking to celebrate a special night this is your place!

Yelp
I was brought here to celebrate my birthday and I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful backdrop for a delicious dinner. They greeted me with a card and a confetti decorated table. Aaron, our waiter, was very attentive and gave some great recommendations. The steak was tender and the sides were immaculate. Only con is parking but that's to be expected in/around this area. I'd still highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Absolutely blown away. Eddie V's is an absolute gem for special celebrations! My partner surprised me with the most perfect birthday dinner here, and it exceeded all expectations. The attention to detail was stunning - a birthday card and confetti all over the table made it an unforgettable experience. Oh, and that free dessert that lit up? Pure magic! It was the perfect sweet touch to end an amazing evening. Food = perfection on a plate! The mashed potatoes were delicious, and every bite of meat tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. Our waitress was an absolute delight, ensuring every moment was special and making us feel pampered throughout the evening. Eddie V's is undeniably a must-go place for any celebration. From the fantastic food to the great service and those extra touches that make the night sparkle, it's an experience that will leave you with beautiful memories. :)

Yelp
We went to Eddie V's to celebrate our anniversary. We had reservations, which I highly recommend, and had mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary. Wow! We walked in and the hostess wished us "Happy Anniversary";the person taking us to our seat wished us "Happy Anniversary"; there was a sign on our table wishing us "Happy Anniversary" and the table was sprinkled with rose petals; our server brought us celebratory flutes of champagne and wished us "Happy Anniversary", and they even brought us a delicious complimentary dessert! The view in La Jolla is incredible and the food was outstanding! My husband got the filet medallions and I got the crab stuffed jumbo shrimp. it was a beautiful night and Eddie V's added so much to our celebration! Thank you.

Yelp
We had a great experience tonight! Celebrated my husbands graduation, the service was awesome! The hosts allowed us to move locations so we could sit with the live music, they were very gracious and helped move our food and drinks for us. Our waiter's name was Darren and he was excellent, really enjoyable experience, my husband kept saying "he is just so nice!" Thank you for helping our night be a joyful one!! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Captain 619 here, In the mystical realm of Eddie V's, where La Jolla's shores meet, I embarked on a culinary voyage, with a pirate's heart to greet. A crabcake, a treasure chest of flavors, adorned with scalloped gold, And my matey, she danced with lobster tacos, a bounty to behold. Ah, the food, a plunder of delights, fit for a pirate's feast, Each bite a swashbuckling adventure, a culinary conquest released. The crabcake, a hidden gem, tender and spiced with a daring flair, Whispering tales of the sea, a treasure trove beyond compare. As we dined, the ambience embraced us, like the ocean's wild embrace, A pirate's haven, a coastal hideaway, where legends find their place. The waves crashed, their rhythm a pirate's anthem, bold and free, A symphony of the high seas, a melody that stirred our souls with glee. But it was the service, oh, the service, that truly stole the doubloons, Impeccable and gallant, like a pirate captain's loyal crew. Attentive and swift, they navigated our desires with finesse, Guiding us through this culinary voyage, with a touch of pirate's zest. Eddie V's in La Jolla, a treasure trove for the senses, a pirate's delight, Where flavors plunder the palate, and memories take flight. A poetic escapade, where food and ambience intertwine, Leaving us with a pirate's bounty, an experience truly divine.

Yelp
Mom and I hit up her favorite spot, Eddie V's, for a girls' night out. My filet, ordered medium, was on point, and they nailed her fish dish, tailoring it perfectly to her dietary needs. We camped out in the bar area, missing out on the full scenic experience, but our server (pretty sure her name was Amber) brought the vibe, keeping things light-hearted and bending over backwards for my mom's food allergies. The only bummer? The steak's price tag felt steep, especially since sides were a la carte. But let me tell you, those au gratin potatoes were a cheesy slice of heaven. Capped off the evening with an espresso martini - sadly didn't make my top 10 but still hit the spot for the evening. Eddie V's is your go-to for a splurge session. Aim for a window seat to catch those breathtaking views.

Yelp
The perfect place to celebrate. Everyone here, especially Maria, our sever took the time to wish us a happy anniversary and treat us with such grace, care, and joy! Everything was perfect!

Yelp
We had a great view, sat outside and it was nice and warm w the heaters. Food was good. Very large portions. I thought the hamachi was overly salted as though it was drowning in soy sauce. However the sea bass was absolutely delicious. The sides were OK, lobster mashed potatoes was good but the truffle Mac and cheese was too overpowering in truffle oil. Service was excellent though and you can't beat the view
google avatar

Hailey R.

Yelp
Overall a solid 4.5/5 and a great family dinner. Celebrated two birthdays and they did a great job at making the occasion special. We received sweet birthday cards, rose petals on the table, and an exquisite dessert platter featuring cookies, an adorable peach sorbet, and flambé bananas foster. The ambiance was also excellent with live music in the bar area. We always order an excessive amount of food but some highlights were definitely the Mediterranean branzino, oysters, and we were pleasantly surprised at the steak quality considering it's a seafood restaurant. The calamari was good but stacked on top of fried noodles to make the portion look bigger. The sides were decent but probably could've skipped the lobster mashed potato. The banana foster dessert was excellent! The service was attentive throughout the meal. Some of the items are on the pricier side of things but for the location it's expected. Parking is available right outside of the restaurant for just $5 which is also nice and convenient. Overall, highly recommend for a celebration or nice dinner!

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in La Jolla! The service is the best. The ocean view is breathtaking. The food is always delicious. The stuff crab is my favorite. You always have to make reservations but it's so worth it.

Yelp
I don't even have words for the amazing experience! The food and drinks were fantastic. The Mac and cheese was especially yummy. Nothing could compare to the location though! The view was magical. We got to watch the sea lions on the cove from our table - it was a highlight of my trip to the area. I would've paid extra for that view! Service was very nice, but not very fast. That was fine by me as it gave more time to enjoy the view!
google avatar

Yelp
The service here was amazing. Our waiter was so great. We ordered the 24 karat drink and the diamond drink. Both were so good. The ambiance is very classy, definitely dress up. Parking was easy, valet is up front. The food was amazing. I'd suggest getting the calamari or the cheesy potatos. Or the sea bass. The seabass practically melted in my mouth.

Yelp
We went to Eddie V's for my friend's birthday. Diego and our server, Brittany I think, made her feel so special and went out of the way to ensure everything from drinks to desserts was perfect. Valet was $15, no cash, for 3 hrs Hostess wishes my friend a happy birthday and sprinkled the table with some colorful confetti. We ordered cocktails to start: Hope Diamond, old fashion , Maverick and Red Dragon. Maverick was the best, the rest was a little sweet. Hope Diamond and old fashion had some nice tableside touches, e.g. cocktail poured over huge cube or ice and smoking the glass before pouring old fashion. To start Caesar salad and crab cake. Salad was average, but crab cake was big, flavorful and full of big chunks of crab. For dinner we ordered lobster tacos, from starter menu, spinach salad, 22 oz aged rib eye, 18 oz aged NY strip and shared sides of au gratin potatoes, crab fried rice and truffled Mac n cheese. Everything was good. Sides were big enough for 2-3 people to share. For dessert, the team surprised us with 4 complimentary dishes: creme brulee, chocolate cake, lemon tart and banana foster cake with pecan ice cream. What a wonderful surprise!

Yelp
Eddie V's is one of our favorite special restaurant for my family. We came here last year for my birthday, this time it's my daughter's birthday. The staffs are wonderful friendly and great looking people too. The food was delicious! Great view! We always get the sea views!

Yelp
This was yet another excellent dinner experience at Eddie V's, the flagship of the Darden chain! We had reservations for 7PM and commented in our reservation that we wanted to sit outside, along the railing to view the cove and ocean. We arrived just a few minutes early and our table wasn't ready, so we waited. My wife, needing the assistance of a cane was standing with me and one of the ladies working the hostess stand brought her a chair to sit in, very considerate of her to do! Then after about 5 more minutes, a different lady working the host stand brought us a couple of glasses of champagne, unsolicited! We never once complained about the wait, and frankly, we didn't feel the wait was outrageous, so we were pleasantly surprised they thanked us for being patient while offering the bubbles! Once we got to our table, it was right along the railing on the upper level, with a great view of the cove below! Our server was very friendly and personable. The menu is basically the same as the other Eddie V's locations. The food we opted for was all made perfectly! Flavors, textures, and presentation was all what we expected - spot on! Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and engaging. Definitely an excellent experience. Highly suggest stopping in for an amazing experience, but make sure to make reservations and request the specific seating type you might want.

Yelp
At Prospect LA JOLLA for Dinner and couldn't decide where to eat coz we have eaten to mostly to all the restaurants here . But at the end we decided to dine in at EDDIE V'S . We made a reservation same day and got lucky theres a few spot left . We had like 2 hours more left before our reservation so we took some time to shopped around . When we came to our reservation time we saw a few people tried to get in without a reservation but the restaurants is already full , so a reservation is a must to ensure a spot . We got directed to our Table and our server came right away , she is such a nice one ( BRITNEE M . ) and with Lovely smile and service all the way to the end of our dinner . Our server started to introduce their food but i told her Nicely that No need coz we are very Familiar with their food , we dined in EDDIE V'S like 4 times already . So we started to order and got the following . * THE BIG EDDIE SEAFOOD TOWER - King Crab , Maine LOBSTERS , Tuna Poke , Shrimps (8) , Oysters (8) *22 OZ USDA PRIME BONE - IN RIBEYE *KUNG PAO CALAMARI - Wok - Fried Vegetables with Roasted Cashews * THE HOPE DIAMOND - Grey goose Vodka , Grapefruit Liqueur , Butterfly Pea Flower Tea , Diamond Ice Cube * WARM BELGIAN CHOCOLATE CAKE - w/ Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and Mixed Seasonal Berries * CRAB FRIED RICE WITH MUSHROOMS AND SCALLIONS As usual as we always get their " THE BIG EDDIE SEAFOOD TOWER " , its a 3 layer tray of Seafoods , if ever i will eat OYSTERS my number one place for good Oysters is here in EDDIE V'S , always tasted Fresh . And the rest of the SEAFOOD on the Tower are all tasted good and Fresh too , this is actually my Favorite place when it comes in ordering my Seafood tower . My Husband and i shared with this THE BIG EDDIE. I really like the Seafoods on it but i dont think i can finished the whole thing :) My SON got their 22 oz RIBEYE STEAK as he always order when we come to EDDIE VS and he will always pair it with their YUMMY CRAB FRIED RICE ! For our APPETIZER this time we tried their KUNG PAO CALAMARI and its so good , especially with those crunchy fried noodles , the sauce is sweet and spicy but not too spicy , it has the right amount of sweetness and Spice and the Calamari itself is fried well with good seasoning . For my DRINK i used to get the 24 K cocktail but i went with the Suggestion of our server the HOPE DIAMOND cocktail and my opinion both cocktails are a good cocktail selections . They also serve you a COMPLIMENTARY bread and butter . For our Dessert we usually get the BANANAS FOSTER BUTTER CAKE but this time we tried their WARM BELGIAN CHOCOLATE and we are glad we did , its so delicious like nice quality of the chocolate they used , not too sweet so its perfect in my liking . From the beggining to the end our Dinner here in EDDIE V's is another a Excellent one ! Food as always good with good quality and every time we dine in any EDDIE V's branches all the server of Eddie Vs never fail us to give us an excellent service .

Yelp
Eddie V's offers a sophisticated fine dining experience that exceeds expectations. The shell fish tower, tuna tartare, crab cake, and caviar, showcases the restaurant's commitment to quality and freshness. The signature banana foster butter cake is a delightful conclusion to a memorable dining experience. The ocean view adds an extra touch of ambiance to complement the delicious food and drinks.

Yelp
A must in La Jolla - Lamar and Katelyn at the bar and Diego the manager were exceptional. Whether business or pleasure the ambiance and customer service are over the top. This is a weekly go to !!!

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner with good friends at Eddie V's on the beautiful patio overlooking the water. I started out with a Hope Diamond cocktail which was absolutely perfect in every way. Reminder to self when you come again: don't fall prey to the Smoked Old Fashioned which is very good as well. Get the drink that made you swoon with Grey Goose Vodka, Grapefruit Liqueur, and Butterfly Pea Flower Tea that has been frozen into a Diamond shaped ice cube. We shared an ahi tuna tartare which was excellent. It had avocado, mango, and pieces of sweet grapefruit and orange adorning the plate. It was excellent, but my strategy next time might be to skip the appetizer to make room for more sides and dessert! I had the Jumbo Gulf Shrimp which was not the right choice for me. These are crab-stuffed shrimp (think Eddie V's crab cake mixture) atop 4 large shrimp. They were good but really paled in comparison to the Chilean Sea Bass which was a great portion of fish, steamed in a Hong Kong Style with light soy broth. It came out with a steam basket over it and this was SPECIAL. Reminder to my future self: this is what you want to get! The lobster mashed potatoes deserves it's own paragraph. It's butter poached lobster and aged white cheddar that has been made into creamy and dreamy mashed potatoes. It literally took my breath away as a side. More on sides: We also had the grilled asparagus with sea salt and lemon which was excellent....added plus is it makes you feel like you're balancing out with healthy choices. I've had the crab fried rice with mushroom and scallions at a different Eddie V's and thought it was just good, not great. Note: You can order half portions of the sides if you want to try more things or are in a small party. For dessert, we had the Bananas Foster Butter cake which was flambeed table side and served with butter pecan ice cream. This is a must have! And we also had the meyer lemon tarte which was awesome plus paired so well against the sweet butter cake as it was tart and tangy. This came with toasted honey meringue, a sweet buttery crust and raspberries. The service was absolutely top notch and I cannot say enough good things about our sweet server. We will be back!

Yelp
We had such a great dinner last night! Gustavo took care of us and he was so wonderful! He was very attentive, friendly, funny, informative, and such a gem. He made our experience so pleasant. Thank you Gustavo! As for the food, you really can't go wrong with anything. The steak and all seafood was great. Our favorite dish was definitely the crab cake, 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
OMG! What an AMAZING experience! First time at an Eddie V's, and mostly avoided them because many steakhouse chains fall short in the hype, but oooooooh not Eddie V's. They exceeded all major expectations from the beginning. So let's get this out of the way. It's La Jolla... parking sucks, but the valet is great! Was about $15 and wish EV covered this, but no big whoop. If you've never been to this location, the front is kinda hard to find, so just follow the red brick sidewalk. Reservation was made through Open Table, and was really impressed when the hosts greeted Tiffany with a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY. The table was setup with a little card and pizzazz to set the mood. Had a great view of the cove and the sunset as well. Now, the most important part, THE FOOD. We ordered the filet and the ribeye. They both arrived perfectly prepared with the filet just melting in your mouth and ribeye having a perfect Pittsburg style char to it. Not counting the dry aged steaks at B&R, these were absolutely the best steaks I've had so far in San Diego which is saying a lot with soooooo many great steak places in SD. As far as the side dishes, the crab fried rice, while on the salty side had tons of crab and great flavor. The truffles and Mac was really tasty and the truffles were definitely truffling. Let me take this time to go over the kids meal. YES they do have a kids meal! It's a three course meal with a choice of salad or fresh fruit (mixed berries and they were GOOD!), a pretty decent entree selection which includes a filet, tenders, shrimp, and a couple of other things, and a dessert. It doesn't include a drink, so standby for the near $5 lemonade. We got the tenders and fries and the tenders disappeared really quickly. The fries weren't too bad, but I felt the taste of the oil was a little too heavy, and I think the kid agreed. But the fries were perfectly crispy and not too salty. Drinks. The cocktails were very nice. I regret not getting the old fashioned, because it's smoked tableside, but the private plane was such a well balanced and sophisticated drink, that I'll definitely order another. I DID pair my steak with one of the malbec wines. Definitely a good choice. If it's a special occasion or special date night, this is DEFINITELY the spot! LD

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic, you can't go wrong with Eddie V's! Started with the Blue Point oysters, which the sauces that came with were beyond delicious. Horseradish will knock your socks off, highly recommend! We have the NY steak, blue cheese crust, cooked perfectly. Also enjoyed their special tonight which was a black Miso Cod, honestly one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had. Ordered a side of the truffle Mac and cheese which was total perfection! Finished off with the banana foster and the chocolate cake, really great way to end the experience. We tried some of the speciality cocktails, which were fabulous! Enjoyed delicious wine for dinner and finished with the best coffee and Kaluha's ever enjoyed in possibly ever. Sarah our server was excellent! Very attentive and welcoming, just overall great! We will absolutely be back!

Yelp
We had a wonderful birthday dinner for my father and husband last night, EVEN though my elderly father choked during dinner. Our server Selina was so respectful and blocked my father from the view of the other patrons and the bartender called the paramedics right away. We were so impressed with the staff during this unfortunate incident. The manager came over and offered assistance as well. The food was wonderful. They even boxed up a free birthday treat for my father with his leftovers since he left early. Class Act Eddie V's! Thank You all!

Yelp
What a disappointment....Eddie V's in Scottsdale is our go to for excellent food and service. Not the case this evening in LaJolla. Our food was brought out in stages, it was warm not hot. The carrots were terrible, lobster mashed potatoes were brought out half way through our meal, they were slightly warm with rubbery lobster. It was one excuse after another. Erin was our waiter. It started out good but honestly someone dropped the ball on this one. Terrible dining experience. Scottsdale, AZ is top notch. They are night and day difference. We won't be back to this location even if they did comp our tab.

Yelp
We were ecstatic to nab a cliffside view of Black's Beach; it was breathtaking! And rest assured, the distance from the beach made the clothing-optional beachgoers invisible to the naked eye (pun intended). Eddie V's ain't cheap, but with views like this, it's worth it. At this point, I had enjoyed Eddie V's rendition of a peach mule. The peach, ginger, and lime juice danced on my tongue; no, I was not intoxicated (yet). However, I tasted more alcohol than I'd like but it didn't stop me from finishing the drink with enthusiasm. After being seated, we were treated with a bread basket. The bread was warm, enough to melt the seasoned butter offered on the side. It was delicious, perfect to whet my appetite. My appetite was soon greeted by Chilean Sea Bass. Steamed in a light soy sauce broth, the delicate and smooth flesh imparted a rich, buttery flavor that the fish is famed for; Eddie V's rendition proved to be quintessential. The bed of poached spinach also complemented the sea bass. This was a deceptively simple dish that spoke volumes about quality over quantity, harmony, and restraint. Paired with the Chilean Sea Bass was a Riesling wine. I won't pretend I know anything about wine but I will say that it was delightful. I also didn't get intoxicated (still not yet). My date had the filet mignon--cooked medium--and scallops. The filet mignon was beefy, savory, and tender; I only wished it was cooked medium rare (that was my date's blunder). Similarly, the scallops were heavenly: sweet, buttery, nutty, and fall-apart-tender. If you've never had scallops, they taste surprisingly like crab and lobster. Speaking of crab and lobster, we finished our meal with Crab Fried Rice with Mushrooms and Scallions. The fried rice lacked wok hay (i.e., smoky flavor) but that was not the chef's intent: Rather, the fried rice was sweet, buttery, and luxurious. Along with the view and food, one is also paying a premium for the hospitality. I had no complaints on the service, attentiveness, and warmness of the staff. This was my first time at Eddie V's and I look forward to trying to rest of their menu!

Yelp
Can't argue with the gorgeous views of La Jolla and the ocean here. Seafood was well cooked and flavorful. We celebrated our 20th anniversary here and they decorated our table and made the experience really special.

Yelp
I was able to try the Brussel Sprouts, the Calamari, the Ribeye with Parmasean/Horseradish Crust, the Truffle Mac, Crab Fried Rice, Lobster Mashed Potatoes, and ended with the Hot Chocolate Godiva Cake. Starting from the top, the Brussel Sprouts were pretty delicious, I would recommend this appetizer, the crispiness, and char were perfect and the sweet/salty flavor was great. The Calamari threw me through a loop because there appeared to be some baby octopus in it, I think the flavor was good but all in all, I am not a huge calamari fan, to begin with. The ribeye I ordered was medium rare, and the crust was pretty thick on my steak but the flavor was excellent, I have no complaints about the steak other than the crust is thick. Order the Crab Fried Rice, it was excellent, I have no complaints about it and I would honestly have ordered it on its own as a main dish. The Lobster Potatoes weren't my favorite but they were good, and the Mac & Cheese was pretty delicious but came out late because the waiter forgot to put the order in. We got multiple desserts including the Creme Brulee, Hot Chocolate Godiva, and the Lemon Tart... This is where they lost the star... After eating a decent amount of the Hot Chocolate Godiva, we found a HAIR in it... I was so disgusted... Honestly, it ruined the meal for me because that is one of the worst things to find in your food. I am unsure if they comped the dessert or not as I was not the one paying BUT I hope they did because I am not quite sure I would return to Eddie V's because of that fiasco. The day I went was a particularly blustery, cold, and rainy day for San Diego, but the view was so magnificent and we witnessed the weather clear and the sun coming out to shine on the cliffs.

Yelp
Who ever is the man in charge of giving wine options and alternative of the one we chose was out of stock needs to stop raising his eyebrows on us less rude and strict talking and chill this isn't a cheap place and as a waiter especially when in charge of wine you need to do better and treat your customers (all women table) with kindness.

Yelp
So, my date night I made reservations at Eddie V's's for this past Saturday night several weeks ago. Because our schedule changed the only reservations that were available started at 8:30 for this particular Saturday night. I was able to get in contact with management and they graciously change my reservation from 8:30 to 6:30 which was much more accommodating for us. When we arrived, we were pleased with the valet service, and the ease in which we were able to slide out of our car and down the ramp which was a beautiful brick walkway, and into Eddie V's's. We were seated almost immediately, and we were greeted by the most wonderful, amazing waiter, Spencer Retana. Spencer remembered that my date and I were celebrating a post Valentines dinner, and as Spencer walked us towards our table, we saw that the table was adorned with beautiful red rose petals. From the very beginning, Spencer's professionalism and attention to detail was absolutely amazing! He picked out a wonderful wine for us, which paired well with the meal. We graciously Spencer to plan our meal. From the very beginning starting with the appetizers to dessert he did and amazing job. The oysters were amazing, the crab-cakes were incredible, the salad with the warm mushrooms was simply delicious, the Chilean, Sea-bass, and the cut of prime rib was mouthwatering and succulent. Spencer completed our meal with the most amazing bananas fosters I have every eaten!! It was an unbelievable culinary experience, and my hat goes off to Spencer Retana and the entire culinary staff for putting together an amazing meal. Question becomes would I recommend Eddie V's and the answer is simple. Absolutely and an overwhelming yes yes yes!

Yelp
Wow, this place was crazy good. Everything was 5 stars and a memorable occasion. The service was great and our server (West) was on top of things. The restaurant was very nice and has a spectacular view of La Jolla shore. There is indoor and outdoor seating, outdoor heaters, a full bar, valet parking, amazing drinks, and delicious food. The prices were expected, pricey, but worth every dollar. You get what you pay for and it was money well spent. You won't be disappointed. We ordered the crab/shrimp cakes for an appetizer, their 8oz filet mignon, an African lobster tail, lobster mashed potatoes, asparagus, and 3 cocktails (24 karat, the hope diamond, & the espresso martini). For dessert we shared their banana foster cake. Everything was perfect, fresh, and prepared to our liking. The lobster tail was huge and surprisingly tasty. The filets had a crunchy exterior and soft cool center, and melted like butter in your mouth. We will definitely be returning and have found a new favorite restaurant for special occasions. It was an overall wonderful experience. A must try!

Yelp
TERRIBLE! Service was terrible we had a reservation for 6:15 and arrived 6 minutes early and got seated at 6:37! Additanly we reserved a table inside and got seated outside were it smelled horrible (seal crap) all through the outdoor area. TERRIBLE!
