"The Lake isn’t all lunch and dinner spots. Head over to Eddie’s Breakfast and Lunch for one of the best diner breakfast experiences in the Boston area. This no-frills breakfast joint spins out stacks of silver dollar pancakes and breakfast combos on the cheap. Eggplant parm sub for breakfast? Eddie’s won’t judge you. Eddie’s is open for indoor dining and takeout." - Tommy Ranucci

Every time I order online they forget part of the order and they have no idea how to cook an eggs Benedict. This is my second time trying to order from them and this time I ordered an Irish Benedict and they gave it to me without any hollondais sauce and the eggs were literally burnt. I’m so disappointed.

Google
Quick service. No fresh juices. Potatoes on the side are right on and prices are kind for the basics. Sunday has no sandwich, breakfast only. And hours are only 6am-2.30pm

Google
Charming spot with great service & food. The photos don’t do Eddie’s justice. If you are looking for an old school, simple spot to grab a bite, you can’t go wrong at Eddie’s as it’s clean and friendly with fantastic vibes.

Google
This is a great place for a quick, standard, diner breakfast. There's not a lot of seating. There's no bathroom. You can order from your table or the counter. It's absolutely no-frills, and it's delicious. The prices are really good (like, REALLY really good), and they're always friendly and service is quick as a whistle. I was only going to give 4 stars, as is my habit, but Eddie's is truly, exactly, what it is. Enjoy!

Mike

Google
Great classic Nonantum breakfast spot with very affordable prices and great food. Something worth mentioning is that they do an awesome lunch too. The staff is friendly, the vibe is nice and the service is quick. This is a great spot that I will continue to go to for as long as I can.

Juan Cristo

Google
The bacon and eggs were okay but they gave me raw french toast as you can see from the picture attached. This is literally raw egg. The waiter was so rude as well. Didn’t even have the decency of taking this off the bill. Never coming back, also overpriced.

David Jay

Google
Great food fair price and friendly people will definitely be coming back

Google
This place makes you feel at home. My go to breakfast sandwich spot

Tara K.

Yelp
Quick and friendly service. The highway special is my go to meal but even just to stop in for a quick muffin or coffee is fantastic too. They will grill the muffin and butter it for you as well. A great local spot in the Lake (Nonantum). Support your hard working local business owners! Thank you Eddie! Also, if you are looking for fancy and more luxurious breakfast places, try Starbucks and their prices! Bravo Eddie!

Yelp
I remember like 3 years ago or so I have Doordashed here and they complimented my name on the bag...random but absolutely made my day (thought to leave a review as me and my partner were talking about doing food delivery and the memory came to me)- any time I've dashed to here or dined in they have amazing customer service, good food!

Chaya B.

Yelp
I have to leave a review because the several years that I've been to this restaurant he's always been wicked nice! Food is always been consistently good. That being said, now being a vegan, the only thing I can eat there is maybe hash browns and a banana. I almost feel like it would be too much to ask for him to make some thing vegan, but you can just tell that the food is made with love in every bite.

Yelp
We tripped over this place getting sausage at Depasquale's. We were early for Depasquale to open so we Googled where to eat breakfast and got Eddie's 500 ft away Our breakfast was so delicious We had Denver omelet and Eddie special So glad we took a chance and went in You won't be sorry

Al G.

Yelp
Great little family owned gem. Clean and cozy. Food cooked right in front of you by papa.

Jeff H.

Yelp
I've driven by here 50 times and decided to give a small business a try. Nothing spectacular, mom and pop spot for breakfast. That's all I got...support small businesses!

Lyusha G.

Yelp
We have been meaning to try this place for a while and so glad we played hooky from work and got breakfast here on a weekday. THE FOOD IS SO GOOD!!! We had eggs, bacon, home fries (!!!!), the breakfast sandwich and a grilled blueberry muffin. We'll be back for them all and more. Eddie & his staff are so nice too! Cash only, suuuuper reasonable prices.

Matt B.

Yelp
How can you not supply your workers with regular plastic gloves? Some lady walked out of the back room and started making my food with bare hands I used to like this place but now it's not good enough for this neighborhood.

Eddie J.

Yelp
Never got to see this diner because my experience involved a takeout order. I woke up late this morning and realized that I was craving pancakes and bacon but it was almost noontime. I decided to order takeout rather than going out and looking for someplace to eat. I called the front desk of the hotel I was staying in but I was informed the restaurant was closed until 5:00pm. I decided to order from Eddy's Diner. I chose the banana pancakes with a side of bacon. The pancakes were very good and so was my bacon, which was crispy as I had requested. All in all it was a great breakfast. Thanks Eddy's

Shannon R.

Yelp
Eddie's was a staple of my childhood & i make sure to stop by every time i come back home. It's so good, eddy is so sweet, the high way special with home fries is the best breakfast I've had in my entire life. I highly recommend it!!

Daniel C.

Yelp
If you planning to eat here I recommend you not to. The customer service is terrible. As well if you come in to eat the seating is very limited. There are only 4 booths, If you come in as a single party, and if another group comes in they will ask you to move your seating in the middle of your meal to accommodate the party coming in. The food is terrible as well. I will not be eating there again.

Meg C.

Yelp
Ive tried so many different things on the menu and the food at Eddie's never disappoints! They're quick, they're friendly, and the food is affordable. My only complaint is that it's cash only - but if I'm not mistaken they have an ATM. Otherwise there's a lot of banks/ATMs surrounding it!

Sofia A.

Yelp
Omelettes are made with fresh eggs and home fries are delicious! Nothing is ever frozen. Definitely can't go wrong with Eddies' fluffy pancakes and thick Texas style French toast or the classic Highway Special (breakfast sandwich) for 5$. Food is quick and service is always friendly. Come prepared though-- CASH ONLY!

Jake K.

Yelp
Best food. Best burger i ever ate. Burgers are my favorite food. The Price is cheap as heck. The fries are salted well Nicely fried The onion rings are heaven. 5/5 10/10 100/100 Come here i live in nonantum so walking here is a breeze Even if you have to drive 4 miles still come here.

Lee D.

Yelp
Positively the best Bacon Cheeseburger anywhere that I have had. Try it with onions and mushrooms....you won't be dissappointed!

Michael N.

Yelp
Their egg sandwiches are inexplicably magical. Simple ingredients but incredible taste. Cheap and fast.

Calvin G.

Yelp
Cash only. Delicious. I love to stop by Eddie's for breakfast or lunch, but his $5 bacon, egg & cheese with home fries is never a bad idea any time of day. They have a variety of other sandwiches and entrees and salads, but you can find him cooking up pancakes all day long. Super friendly, delicious food, highly recommend!

Jeremy K.

Yelp
This place is a hole in the wall located across the street from the Colleti-Magni park and features a breakfast-centric menu alongside a simple lunch offering of sub sandwiches. I went there for the latter and wasn't left blown away by the quality of the sandwich. While it was affordable, it was far from being the best one that is available in the area. The bread didn't feel or taste all that fresh - it was slightly dry - and the ingredients in it were okay but again, not all that great. Definitely not sliced to order. It just left like it was all put together in instants by someone who just simply doesn't really care to provide good food to patrons. Add to the fact that they are cash only and you're left with a place that's only worth going to while in search for breakfast in the area. The decor is dated, the place almost feels crummy/divey. Not very impressed and the staff the counter wasn't all that pleasant or friendly. While I've never had breakfast there, I've heard good things from a few people but as far as lunch goes, no thanks.

Lesley S.

Yelp
Posting because I was driving around looking for breakfast and couldn't find anything in the area. Nothing came up on yelp for the area. Found Eddies and it was perfect for breakfast. Saw a lot of lunch items that looked great too. All freshly made by Eddie. Great neighborhood joint.

Brendan O.

Yelp
Awesome pancakes!! Great friendly family-run restaurant! Lots of great breakfast and lunch choices. It wasn't too busy for a Saturday!! I can't wait to come back over and over and over again! Thanks Eddie and all the kind helpful servers : )

Shlomi A.

Yelp
I used to come here a lot when I lived in the area. If you are looking for a fast breakfast place you won't be disappointed. Quality products and the best thing about this place is Eddie the owner, sweet and as genuine as can be.

Tom L.

Yelp
Eddie is the best never a problem with my order I go with my gf a lot find parking no problem and he is quick with your order my gf tells me all the time when she wants eddies is my name is Eddie and your breakfast is ready and I then know she wants the Eddie special

Anna P.

Yelp
The best place. Good food, good people and good prices. I love coming here on the weekends but be warned it can sometimes be crazy packed. When that happens just take your order to go.

Warren A.

Yelp
What a great find! Recently moved back to the area and was looking for a good breakfast and lunch place. This is it! Good prices, portions and great food. Owner cooking in the kitchen yells out a hello when you enter. Place is small and very personal. Everyone is friendly there. Will be back very soon

Ben S.

Yelp
Super fast and friendly service Extremely reasonable prices Hearty, filling warm food Cash only Limited food variety

David A.

Yelp
Eddie's is such a gem! I walked over because I needed some breakfast while I waited for some auto tuning to be completed and was blown away by the quality of the service and the food. This is a small shop with limited seating, but the turn over is quick and the staff is wonderful. People here take great pride in their work and it shows. Thank you to Eddie's Breakfast and Lunch for doing it right.

Henry J.

Yelp
Great food and service! Food comes out extremely fast! Would recommend getting an omelet, comes with home fries and a choice of toast.

Kellie W.

Yelp
I've been eating at Eddies for years! The breakfast is delicious, I love the neighborhood feel and how everyone is so friendly. Eddie is still cooking the food after all these years! I love the grilled blueberry muffins.

Lyndsey C.

Yelp
Honestly, i am unsure of what the hype is here. The waitress wasn't very pleasant, they don't even have real cups (other than if you get coffee), my eggs were not cooked well (scrambled eggs were runny)... the pancakes were good and the food was fine overall, but nothing special... Food is served fast but the place is no frills (only a few booths), which is totally fine, if the service is great and the food is delicious. I will say that the coffee was always full... someone always was around helping with that, but other than that... meh... Cheap prices... quick... many people came and took their food to go, which i would probably try. The iced coffee looked good.

David S.

Yelp
Eddie's Breakfast is aptly named, since the two things that you are guaranteed to see when you go there are Eddie, and breakfast. This is a townie hangout, no doubt about it, and if you can't handle that, move on up the street. Service is quick, coffee is good, the menu is short but comfortable. No frills here folks, just the usual suspects from the grill, and if you're lucky a friendly smile from the waitress. Eddie made my over-hard eggs over-easy, but he also grilled the english muffin to perfection, so I can't get mad at him. One of the neatest things about this place is that it's an unofficial museum of history and culture for 'The Lake'. On the wall above the bar you will see pictures of all the locals over the past thirty, forty, fifty years, as well as newspaper articles and bits of local flavor. Eddie is a Lake man, through and through. I haven't had to wait to sit down there yet, which gives it a special place in my breakfast list. I haven't been here for lunch, but it's a little too close to D&A's subs to make that likely to happen.

Liam D.

Yelp
I went to Eddie's before it was even called Eddie's - back then it was called Maria's, and it was run by a greek dude named George. Then Eddie came in and bought the place and now it's his joint, named after him. I was there recently, and Eddie still has a picture of me and my old man on the wall with him and George at the time of the "switch." That's the kind of place this is - a neighborhood gathering spot. It's your Saturday morning eggs, bacon, and whatever else your belly could desire for breakfast spot. Try the 2 x 2 x 2 (two eggs, 2 pancakes or waffles, and 2 servings of meat - i think the 3rd 2 is for meat, not sure); or Eddie's Hi-Way Special, a delicious breakfast sandwich. His omelette's are fantastic, and he has good, real potatoes as breakfast potatoes. Also uses some of the saltiest sausages I've eaten, and while they are terrible for me, they are amazing. This place takes me back to my high school days when we used to go during spares and just shoot the breeze with Eddie, who is the most friendly guy you could expect. And best of all, a meal for 5 twenty-somethings getting their grease fix from a night of boozing before only cost $40. Can't beat that at IHop! It ain't fancy and it ain't healthy. But it's friendly, cheap, and delicious - just what a neighborhood diner should be! I have to edit this review to reflect my buddy"s (he's NOT on Yelp! for some reason) opinion upon reading my review: "How could you give eddie only 4 stars???? What's wrong with you? I give him 10 stars. Shoot I'll give him as many stars as he wants. I'm gonna start a facebook page for eddie. Eddies is more like mythical rather than cabots legendary but still deserves 5 stars. Stars = overall satisfaction. I give eddies 5 stars because I was more than satisfied with the food (cooked quickly but with lots of TLC)"

Eric M.

Yelp
I have been here before for their solid breakfast takeout before work. This time I went for lunch and ordered the beef and chicken lunch combo and it was amazing! Even the rice was so good you had to eat it all! Check this place out! It is a solid diner and consistently tasty.

Augustine W.

Yelp
Eek! Methinks not. I went here this morning. No line. No crowd, no surprise. Luckily we ordered it to go cause as the poster below said the crowd is dirtier than the food! Also, big ups to the cooks behind the counter not wearing gloves. Looked around couldn't even find a box !! That was comforting. I couldn't even watch them make my food I had to step back. For all of you who are chummy with Eddie maybe you can advise him on health and safety regulations.? please! I had never been there before so I told wait staff chick @ register to give me a minute. She just stared me down...the menu is on the wall so I had to stand there. Also the customers stared too..it was a terrible vibe. I ordered pancakes. For $7 all i got was three pancakes. I thought about ordering a single scrambled egg on the side since my dish came with out meat but the egg alone was $3. For 2.69 you can get a DOZEN eggs. Unless these eggs came from some very intellectually advanced chickens from a far off land?? I couldn't understand it so I just got the pancakes. They were okay but nothing remotely special not even in a these taste good way ! I did not even finish them and I Was pretty hungry and excited for a breakfast....those dreams were shot upon opening the door. I am certain I will NEVER return.

Jacquelyn M.

Yelp
Dirty. The food was undercooked, and I got a piece of hair in mine. The atmosphere was gross and the crowd was dirtier than the food.

Adrian M.

Yelp
I got lunch on a Friday here, on a whim, and liked it so much I dragged my girlfriend over the next day for breakfast to go--and we nearly came back a third day in a row for Sunday breakfast again. An incredible find, delicious food for any price but especially for how cheap it is. The breakfast sandwiches literally had us going "oh my GOD" and "DAAAAANG" in the car as we drove to our destination. Really truly a hidden gem, can't recommend it enough!!

Marcelo M.

Yelp
Eddies is the place to go for breakfast! Great service, good food and good value. Love it !

Jon N.

Yelp
This guy charged me $14 for an egg, cheese with tomato and home fries. Really FOURTEEN DOLLARS.

Andrew D.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Eddie ALWAYS make you feel at home while your there. He cooks great food. He is great to talk with once you get him going. This place really makes you feel at home. When you start your day at Eddies, you know your going to have a great day! I used to work right above Eddies. I would go to Eddies regularly with colleagues until I moved. I only wish I could go to Eddies more often! Every time I am in the neighborhood for breakfast I go.

Guy S.

Yelp
Been here a few times for eggs and coffee. The coffee was good and eggs were ok. Not a fan of the spices on the potatoes. No freshly baked muffins here. The man was friendly and his 3 employees are also friendly. Cash only here. Very small inside and gets busy with the local retirement folks.

Brittany N.

Yelp
Loved this spot. Awesome customer service and food! Would definitely come back! My husband and I visited before work to grab a bite to eat before work. It was last minute but we enjoyed ourselves.

Roger M.

Yelp
Eggs. Coffee. Homefries. Toast. What else do you need?

W M.

Yelp
If you start a review with "methinks" (see earlier reviews) then please don review eddies breakfast. This is a classic down home breakfast joint. It is the antithesis of fancy. Eddie is super friendly and wants to make sure you get what you want. I have read reviews that someone's eggs were runny. I happen to like mine like that but if you don't all you have to do is tell eddy and he will get you what you want. If you want crispy bacon just tell them! My kids are older now but we used to go here and he would make pancakes with smily chocolate faces. Just a great place. I have never been here for lunch. The waitresses don't always have the best English. I don't know where he gets them but they seem to switch out every six months or so. I went here today and we had a great breakfast.

Ira H.

Yelp
I'm not sure what all the great reviews are about. Yes. Eddie is a nice guy. That said, the omelet I had came out with a browned bottom which is bad. The coffee was marginal. They have no Franks Hot sauce available only Tabasco. The food was edible. The service was good but if I want greasy spoon, I'll head to the Village Cafe in Newton which is similar decor but bigger and much better food.

Todd A.

Yelp
I'm sure if I just stopped in here for breakfast my review would be different. All these positive reviews are all for a cheap breakfast. My first day on a new job in Nonantum I strolled into Eddie's hoping for a cheap lunch. It seemed like diner food so I order my favorite diner item of all time - the Monte Cristo. Somebody needs to teach this place what a Monte Cristo is! I got two pieces of regular break with a slice of swiss and maybe two slices of ham - total thickness 1/2"! How can you call that a Monte Cristo - it's a grilled ham and cheese - and a crappy one at that for the low low price of $7! There are numerous great lunch places right next door that sell real hearty lunches for cheaper than that. I basically felt like I got completely ripped off - a Monte Cristo without French Toast? Now I just walk right by this place and don't even give it a second thought. Maybe their breakfast is decent - but I doubt I'll go back there.

Brendan M.

Yelp
~ $8.91 gets you coffee, three eggs, homefries, toast and bacon. Thats basically a dollar more than a Dunkins breakfast sandwich and coffee. Except its good food. You can be in and out in 20 minutes.

Kristen C.

Yelp
Just moved to the area and consider myself a foodie. I love cooking and eating and was told of certains places that if i was going to live in the neighborhood that I had to try. Eddie's was one of them. It was a weekend morning around 8 and there were only 2 customer inside when i arrived. When I walked in the employees were seated at one of the tables and were having breakfast themselves and I almost felt as though I was bothering them by being there. I the 2-2-2 with eggs over medium, bacon (requested crispy), and pancakes, with a side of home fries. Eggs were good, pancakes were ok although I didn't finish them. Bacon was soggy and sorta undercooked as were the potatoes which also went unfinished. So this coupled with a cup of coffee and a bottle of oj, throw in tip, this just cost me 15 bucks for a breakfast that was undercooked and underconsumed. Not sure is i would be back anytime soon, but will probably scratch bacon and potatoes from the list. If they aren't cooked they just aren't good, and I can't blame a rush...

Todd S.

Yelp
When Louis closed on the Newton/Wellesley border, I thought my life was over. Where was I supposed to get a breakfast or brunch that wasn't *healthy* for me. What I mean by that is where could I get a man's breakfast--eggs, ham, toast and a damn good cup of coffee. Turns out it was right in my backyard for 13 years and I never knew it existed. Eddie's is a small joint with four tables for four and five solo chairs but it is my breakfast/brunch choice. I get out of there for about six bucks and Eddie has a way of hiring the cutest damn waitresses who are all somehow related to each other. I highly recommend Eddie's [but I can't give it five stars or else health conscious yuppies will begin eating there demanding *heart healthy* entrees (which would ruin its appeal to me)].

Joseph S.

Yelp
I don't suggest you go hear unless you want to shit your pants all day and have an upset stomach. The place is grungy looking and I have never seen the owner wash his hands. If I order something its the home fried potatoes and those are greasy and still make me feel disguted.

David K.

Yelp
Went there for breakfast this morning after reading these reviews- well worth a visit. Gave Eddie a shout as we walked in, friendly guy! I hit the 2x2x2, french toast was fantastic, eggs and bacon well done as requested. We ordered a side of hash browns and received a heaping plate of potatoes- good and good for you. We just moved up from NYC and loved the diners there- will definitely head back to Eddie's. Cash only- there's a bank on the corner with a $1 fee ATM (didn't know those still existed!) if you need.

C M.

Yelp
I like Eddie's. this place is towny, small, no frills or high expectations. Just a quick omelette, a cheap cup of plain joe and you are out the door. It's a place for people on the go. Working class. No Eggs Benedict here. It's a good place to go if you want to eat quick and get on with it, and don't want to deal with waiting in line a half hour for breakfast behind rich middle aged men in boat shoes and Newtonian soccer moms with 8 kids screaming for pancakes. His name is Eddie, your breakfast is ready.
