Detroit Restaurants Face Complaints From Cass Corridor Neighbors Over Valet Parking | Eater Detroit

"This small-plates restaurant and bar opened in November on the ground level of the Eddystone Apartments and offers a valet option near Little Caesars Arena. City and development representatives gave differing explanations: a spokesman for Olympia Development said the valet operates on the vacated Park Avenue between Sproat Street and Temple and therefore does not trigger the city’s valet permit requirement, while city records indicate the establishment has a private easement but not a valet permit. Parking operations for the area are managed by a third-party (ODM Parking), and the location figured into neighborhood discussion about how new entertainment-district businesses use public space for valet staging." - Serena Maria Daniels

I moved here about a month ago and I love the apartment and the location. My unit faces the Little Caesars Arena, and I can’t hear anything during events at this location. There are a lot of great restaurants, bars, and events in the area that are extremely easy to access by foot, as Comerica Park, Ford Field, and various music and theatre venues are only about a 5 to 10 minute walk away. I also feel safe walking around this area as well. There is a restaurant on the first floor that’s pretty good and they make great cocktails. My apartment has a washer, dryer, central and and heat, and dishwasher, which has been extremely helpful. There is also a small gym in the basement which is very convenient. The location is pretty central to several major highways, so it’s very easy to get to the airport as well as other areas/suburbs if you want to leave downtown. The only negatives would be that this is Midtown/downtown parking, so monthly parking in the garage could be potentially pricey. I also wish my unit (1br) had a little more storage, but I have been able to make do with what I have pretty well.

I’ve lived here for about half a year and I cannot say anything bad about the apartments, mostly thanks to the management. I’ve lived in multiple apartments before in various cities and this is by far the best. It’s built nicely too, but most importantly to me the maintenance and manager are the most realistic and helpful people out there. They really have made it such a pleasant place to live, and if there’s ever an issue they are so quick to respond (and actually get it done)! They don’t make empty promises, which is rare to find. I have a studio apartment and all visitors I have absolutely love it! Great layout and sturdy appliances. It’s such a clean facility all around and very safe. I cannot speak more highly. Very satisfied with how management run things here, and have recommended to many others.

We’ve had an amazing 2 years of living here and have just signed onto our 3rd! The management is very responsive and the maintenance is such a comfort. We never have to worry about doing anything ourselves. Joe has been amazing, you can ask him for anything and he’ll have it done within a day, not to mention he’s super friendly and approachable. The apartments are really well designed, spacious, and modern. The main lobby is really elegant and always gets tons of compliments when we have guests over. We also appreciate the convenience and safety of the Luxer package system. Our only qualms are with the parking situation and the basement gym which is pretty barebones. You should be prepared to get a gym membership if it’s something you prioritize. All in all though, a great living experience in a really fun neighborhood. Would highly recommend!

Living at the Eddystone Apartments is great! The apartments are new and very thoughtfully designed, and have little touches that make them feel very modern and comfortable. The amenities like the dog spa and the dog run are really great to have as a pet owner. But most of all, the staff at the Eddystone are incredible!! I've never had an issue they couldn't fix, and Anika Lusk especially has been a great help in the 2+ years I've lived here. If you want to schedule a tour, get a tour with Anika!!

The best apartments I have ever lived in. I moved out of state around 2 years ago and I still think about my old apartment here lol. Paige is also amazing!!!

When you plan to move to the US from abroad, finding a good apartment remotely may become a nightmare. However, since my first contact to Eddystone, property manager, Paige, made everthing easier and he answered all my questions in detail. He is trustworthy and might be the best property manager in Detroit. I also want to send my special thanks to Joe, maintenance supervisor, for his kind and solution-focused approach. I am happy for choosing Eddystone as my new home in Detroit.

Paige and his staff (Joe & Khadir) are absolutely killing it, they alone deserve 5 stars and make a great team together, I would definitely live in another property managed by him. Joe (maintenance) responds so quick to any issues you never go long without a solution, he along with Paige communicate very well if it is an issue that will take time to get fixed. I just had to knock off a star because with how much rent is, the tenants do deserve a better parking situation. the situation right now needs A LOT of work, although has gotten better compared to when the building first opened.

I had a 1 bd apt, facing the little cesar area. My time at Eddystone was nothing short of a magical experience. From the quality of the management (give Paige a raise please), to quality of the appliances, the responsiveness and friendliness of the maintenance team...you get what you pay for, and then some more especially for a superb location. My only con is the few amount of community activities, but the connected restaurant and bar (The Basan) addresses the social aspect of things very well. Overall great, and glad for my time at Eddystone!!

Yelp
My son lives at Eddystone. It's right in the middle of everything and still quiet. The staff is pretty great and the building feels secure. There is now a restaurant in the lobby which doesn't seem to be much of an issue. He has a studio and it is beautiful. Highly recommend. Great for Wayne State Business Students
