Local bakery serving delicious baked goods to the community with friendly service. Edelweiss offers pastries and cakes in individual serving sizes, medium and large sized cakes, and they make custom orders. Really enjoy coming to the bakery for the pleasant smell of fresh baking and for their charming service. Family favorites are their carrot cakes and German chocolate cakes. On 29 Aug 2025, enjoyed their chocolate eclairs, cheese danish, and chocolate cannoli.

I usually have a cake and coffee over there and I really enjoy spending time there, inside and outside, they both have great vibes. The coffee is really good and also the cakes and sweets.

Ordered a carrot birthday cake with a photo design. Edelweiss made a magnificent cake that bested anything I’ve ever tasted. Kudos, folks. You nailed this one!

Incredible bakery, Awesome baker and yummy cakes and goods! I am so glad I found this bakery!! I called in to see if I was lucky enough to get a full size coconut cake for my Mother-in-laws Birthday. Stacey was so incredibly sweet to make one for us for later that same day 🙌 Thank you Stacey! You really saved the day! And not just that, the cake was absolutely delicious!! Not overpowering sweet and moist. We had no left overs!! We will definitely be ordering cakes here more often!!

A bit pricey but well worth it. Ordered a cake to celebrate my mom’s retirement and it was phenomenal. They can customize around your taste preferences and the cake was fresh, delicious, and beautiful. The staff were amazing and I’d come back here in a heartbeat.

Amazing local bakery. I always order my birthday cakes from here I love how they show you the cake before you pay and leave it always leaves me reassured that i know what I am paying for before I pay. I’ve never been disappointed by them both decoration and flavor is always phenomenal.

Stacey is the best. Out of all the bakeries I called for a last minute order, she was the only who was willing to accommodate me. On top of that the cake turned out beautiful and tasted amazing. A lot of people asked for their contact information because it was so good. I ordered the marble cake and it came with chocolate chips in the middle and the kids LOVED the frosting. Thanks Edelweiss! I’ll be back for more marble cake!!!

Nice little bakery of I-15. Has a great selection of cakes, pastries and pies. Tried their pecan brownie and chocolate mousse rock. It is good, but a bit too sweet for my taste. It gets crowded as a lot of people go to this place. Given the variety of great options San Diego has to offer I would say it is a decent bakery, but not something I would visit again.

So glad I finally got the chance to visit Edelweiss, after having it bookmarked for years. Life seldom takes me all the way up north to Rancho Bernardo, but today was the day. There was such a wonderful variety of treats in the bright cases, that I just stood there gaping/drooling for the first few minutes. The bakery had a steady stream of regulars, and the waitstaff was quite friendly. Finally decided on the lemon bavarian slice, chocolate mousse mountain, and couldn't resist scoring the last bear claw in the case. Upon returning home to devour my prey, I was impressed with the quality and taste of each item. Clocking in at the top spot was the bear claw, which featured wonderfully crisp layers of almond slice coated puff pastry encasing even more decadent buttery layers of light custard. Best bear claw I've ever had. Both the lemon bavarian slice and the chocolate mousse mountain were very good--they also tasted like fresh, not so artificial ingredients were used to make them with the mousse excelling in the decadence category while the lemon Bavarian tasted like an elevated lemon zebra cake.

SOOO MUCH TO EXPLORE! being my first time here I was caught so off guard to see all these differ fresh baked goods!!! So I blindly order a last minute cake with this bakery so I had no idea who they were!! And boy I cannot wait to go back and try everything!!! My wife's cake came out amazing that all I can say right now! But my second review I will have all the details about what this place has to offer!

This was one of only 2 bakeries I could find that made large carrot cakes, suitable for a large event. All of the employees were very nice, and one young lady even brought the baker out to discuss my needs for the anniversary party I was planning for my parents. The slice of cake I sampled was very good - much more what I had in mind than the other bakery I had tried. Even the customers seemed happy to be inside, choosing their treats for the day. All around, an excellent experience!

Great little bakery where everything is made fresh. They have a very easy online ordering process that shows you all the pricing and timing of the order. Simple ordering, friendly staff, but most importantly - great tasting cake!

This was my first visit here in a very long time. I wanted a few cookies and a couple of pastries. I found what I wanted for sure! The cookies were delicious especially the almond square. I had a pastry that I can't remember the name but I think it had almond paste and raspberry filling. I got a cinnamon roll for my husband because he loves cinnamon rolls. He said this roll was fresh and really good! Service was super friendly! I will be back for sure.

My Favorite!!!! Omgggggggg my favorite place to have cake!! My favorite cake of all time is carrot cake and it's very difficult to find a spot with a delicious carrot cake and this place has the best carrot cake of all time!!!!! If you like raisins in your carrot cake like I do then you have to come here! Dipped in a thin layer of some type of chocolate or something not sure but just made to perfection. Thankful this place is no where near me or else I'd be here every day! Great prices easy parking and the best cake slices ever omg!!!

They have too many choices but that is to our benefit! Strawberry Bavarian ($4.25): simple, slightly sweet, and not a dry cake, 3.5/5 stars. Pecan Bar ($4.25): this was on the medium portion of the sweetness scale, despite it's indulgent appearance. It was well-balanced with the salty, sweet, and nutty flavors to go with the soft and crispy textures; therefore, you can finish this in one sitting, 5/5 stars. My goal is to get two to three new goodies on every visit here. To be continued...

We got 2 eclairs and 2 chocolate mousse cakes. The eclairs were good. The cakes are fresh and delicious. Service was excellent and ambiance is vibrant. Lots of people waiting in line.

Best bakery ever! Everything is fresh and delicious but the cinnamon rolls are my favorite - you can get them iced or not. The employees are super friendly too Wish they weren't closed Sundays and Mondays though.

The best cakes ever, went to get one today for a road trip to Temecula. I'm pretty sure it was the owner made sure I was all set. He heard I was traveling an hour and gave me ice packs for my cake! And sent me with munchies for the road! So sweet. Very clean very organized such a great place!

Excellent pastries and service! One of the best in North County. Keep in mind that their prices have gone up unfortunately to the rising cost of food products. I still go there, I just buy less.

We Rancho Bernardo bakery tradition for the last 45 years ! That speaks in itself can't go wrong at this bakery with it solid traditional bakery pieces

First time trying cakes from this bakery. I have heard of this place but have never been. A colleague picked up a couple of cakes for the office birthday which came out to $40 each. 1 cake can serve easily 8-10 ppl depending on how big a slice you cut. Most of my colleagues wanted small slices and we had a bunch of leftover. There are many cakes to choose and we ended up with chocolate ganache cake which is a cake with ganache filling in between layers. And also white chocolate strawberry filling layer cake. I'm a chocolate person so I LOVED the chocolate ganache. But the fave amongst the office was the white chocolate cake. It was very light and moist. You really can't go wrong with any sweets from here. There are a variety to choose from. Check business hours though since I believe they are limited.

I googled marble cake, and this place turned up. How lucky were we, finally a real bakery with delicious cakes. The fact they had pre-made ones was amazing, you can order custom cakes but I dropped the ball and forgot. Everyone loved the cake and we will be back! Service was great too. Cute little bakery you can stop by and have a treat.

Delicious cakes with beautiful decorations, and they have a kind staff! This was my second time ordering a birthday cake from them and they've both been perfect. Their staff was knowledgeable, and provided me helpful information regarding gluten friendly options. :))

Taste: 5 Value: 5 Service: 5 One of our favorite bakeries in town. The German apple ring is deliciously moist and lightly sweet. If you want something richer, the chocolate cakes are decadent. The cookies and pastries are also excellent. And wedding cakes are also great. We got out from here and the guests really enjoyed it. We regularly come to get birthday cakes for the family and friends.

Cozy bakery with a family feel. We were able to pick up a lovely cake. The other pastries looked delicious too! We didn't try any, but we would definitely come back! The employees were exceedingly nice. It is located in a large parking lot with plenty of parking.

I walked in on a whim after a dental appointment next door and I'm glad I did. This is a very homey bakery where the employees seem to know some of the customers on a first name basis. Ordered a coffee and an apricot strudel to go. I ended up eating it at the table outside and it was delighted with how it tasted. The filling was soft and sugary and the breading was flaky and crispy which offered a very enjoyable balanced bite. I was so surprised at how good it was I went back in and ordered a few more items for my family.

Apple cake is light & fluffy with the dusting of sugar is so bomb ! On Thursday they have challah bread & mini challah. The people here are super friendly and it is the neighborhood gem.

Ordering on the phone was a breeze. Stacey was helpful and able to answer all of my questions for a special cake. The store is cute, clean, and cozy located in a shopping plaza. Will order from EB again in the future!

I've been blessed to live in Rancho Bernardo since 2015 and I'm surprised I haven't written a Yelp review about Edelweiss Bakery considering that I've visited the bakery on several occasions. Prior to me working out this morning, my better half asked for me to pick up some pastries because our oldest kid was visiting and youngest was home from college. I normally don't eat breakfast, but I was making an exception to enjoy eating with my kiddos. Pastries and baked goods from Edelweiss was a good call from my wife. Edelweiss is located in the Duenda Shopping center specifically on the corner of Duenda and West Bernardo Road. If you're familiar with this small strip mall, then you know you can find CVS, Starbucks, Marco's Pizza, and Charm Thai Kitchen here. There is plenty of parking at this center. As you enter the bakery, you are immediately greeted by the glass displays of cakes, desserts, pastries, and baked goods. There is table seating inside and outside. Love the display of the American Flag outside and USA decorative ornament on the wall. I was stationed in Germany, so seeing the pic of Neuschwanstein Castle and another pic of Germany brought back fond memories. The young lady who assisted me was friendly and provided good customer service, but she messed up my order. I had asked for two apple turnovers, but she gave me two cherry danishes instead. Make sure to verify your order. When you look at the inviting displays of pastries, they really do look like works of edible art and look too pretty to eat. They proudly display a banner that says Edelweiss was voted as the 2022 Best Bakery and I would definitely concur with my previous experiences eating their baked confectionary treats. My wife had a list of pastries she wanted me to buy for the family and of course I decided to select what looked appetizing to me. For my two baked items, I chose the cheese danish and the Bobbycake. When I got home, my wife placed my cheese danish in the toaster oven and that is something that I recommend everyone does. My cheese danish was fresh, it was flaky, and the cheese melted in my mouth. Its sweetness was not too much and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Edelweiss is not stingy with their pastries as they are hearty. Of course since my name is Bobby, I had to buy a Bobbycake. I've eaten this pastry multiple times and have enjoyed it every time. It's buttery, similar to a big cookie, and the fruit within that dessert is yummy. I love supporting the local Mom and Pop businesses in our area and I'm glad I finally got to review Edelweiss. Glad I picked up breakfast from here for my family and hope you'll have the positive experiences I've had from here.

This bakery is close to home and we've bought cakes from here many times for birthdays and special occasions. They have a big variety of cakes to choose from. We love the chocolate ganache cake and the German chocolate cake! I haven't tried their pastries but those look delicious too. They are always really nice and helpful. So happy to have this little bakery near us and will continue to buy from them!

Very disappointed for the second time in the past 3 months on 12.26.24, edelweiss bakery had a listed closing time of 3pm but we traveled from LA area and arrived at 2:20pm To find the bakery had closed This has happened twice and we even called prior to coming and were assured they close at 3pm

Ordered a german chocolate cake for a birthday using their website-- it was simple and easy and ready on the day and time I requested. The cake was also a hit!

Wonderful desserts and pastries and the staff is so friendly! I wish they were opened more (but I totally understand that everyone needs a day off now and then!) because their hours are kinda hard for me to get to around my work schedule. But I just have to stock up on their goodies when I can get there. And these desserts are as beautiful as they are delicious!

Wow, amazing pastries at Edelweiss Bakery, but I love their cakes even more. The Raspberry Bavarian Cream Cake with white chocolate shavings was especially tasty! Would recommend the danish and fruit pies as well. I love that the Danish has a crispy crust with seasoning which seems to be brown sugar and/or cinnamon possibly, but gave the crust a yummy sweet flavor. The danish also has plenty of fruit jam! I haven't tried all the pastries here, but would love to try them all eventually. They also sell smaller slices of cakes, so you don't need to feel pressured to buy an entire cake!

Fantastic job. Beautiful presentation. I have had many special cake orders from here and they were so delicious and beautiful. There everyday case items are always made to perfection.

I remember Edelweiss Bakery and Miller's Outpost in the early days of Mira Mesa Mall.  Sometimes after high school got out I'd walk through the mall.  Once in a while I'd get a treat.  For a while the mall was rundown and some businesses left like Edelweiss Bakery which relocated to Rancho Bernardo.  Selection is much larger than I remember. Shortbread cookie with chocolate chips was crunchy with a delicious mix of shortbread and chocolate flavor.  When I was a kid I loved going to the grocery store and picking up a package of Mother's version.  Sadly the cookie isle at the grocery has less and less Mother's cookies as the years go by.  I will have to come here to get my fix. Butter pound cake was soft, moist, and full of sweet buttery flavor.  Great tasting pound cake.  Better than any I've tried from a grocery store. I'll have to try more of their goodies next time I'm in Rancho Bernardo.

The Edelweiss pastries, desserts, cookies, and cake are beautiful and you got quite your assortment to choose from! They have setup their store differently as it's a walk in, where you see all the options for display and then a payment window. There is a table outside for custom ordering, but their website online has also gotten revamped from the last time I've checked it in 2016. You have the options now to order online, schedule tastings, wedding cake ordering, ordering a cake with a image on it. My favorite recently is the fruit tart. To be honest though, fruit tart is my favorite dessert. But it has to be a French fruit tart, one with custard filling. Other locations have made fruit tarts, but they put whip cream in it which just doesn't taste the same. And when I got one here... mmhmm perfection! The combination of the custard against the shell of the tart with the fruit is delicious. And they add a pretty orchid flower for presentation. I had purchased a assortment for a cake walk last weekend, and my girlfriend E actually ended up with it. She has told me that the assortment tastes is amazing! I had chosen slices of the strawberry bavarian, red velvet, bavarian rasphberry, eclair, lemon bar, fruit tart, carrot slice, and chocolate mouse. Have yet to figure out which one was her ultimate favorite, have to ask her next time. A few years back, I had also ordered a vanilla sponge cake with fresh strawberries within it for my husband's birthday (back when we were boyfriend and girlfriend though). It was a sheet cake, and was demolished quite quickly! Everyone at the party raved about how good it was. Looking forward to dropping by again to try the strawberry bavarian, as that was the flavor we did for our wedding :) along with the other goodies.

Our go to spot for cakes! Def check out this spot if you are in the area or live nearby. They have the best cakes, cookies and pastries. Everything is super fresh, beautifully made, and delicious. Every occasion we always are sure to go to Edelweiss.

Cutest little bakery for the most scrumptious treats! I've had their danishes, cookies, and miniature cakes and everything has been super tasty. The staff are lovely here and so helpful as you peruse the smorgasbord of goodies. Thus far, my favorite items have been their cookies! There is such a wide variety, and each one is a bite of buttery, beautiful goodness. I love that you can buy individual baked goods for a quick solo treat, or go big and get a danish ring or pound cake for a group. You can also order cakes for special occasions. I have my eye on the tortes next. Will definitely be back again and again!

The best cakes and pastries in all of San Diego County. Service is fast and efficient. We haven't eaten there but we only go there for sweet.

I ordered some of the mini pastries for an event. Everything was delicious!!! 10/10. The cream puffs, fruit tarts, and cannolis were exceptional, and the presentation is beautiful. It was very easy to place the order too. I would go back to Edelweiss Bakery in a heartbeat for any pastry catering.

I have never purchased anything at this bakery that wasn't 100% over-the-top delicious. Additionally, the employees and the baker are extremely helpful and friendly. Why go anywhere else?

Edelweiss Bakery in Rancho Bernardo is your bakery. It has a fabulous selection of Italian cookies, large sugar cookies that we love. The cakes are ready made to go and they will write your persons name on it. They also sell cake by the slice. The danishes are delicious too. This is your bakery is the best. The pastries are to die for, so yummy! You know when you go there you do get your monies forth. The staff there friendly and efficient. Love this place.

Extremely disappointed!!! I went there to ask if they can do simple vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with a two tone color on them and the owner (at least that's what I was told) said no. They only do the kind they have to sell. Which is weird because at the front window they had some with pink sprinkles and on Yelp you can see couple that were made differently then what they only offer supposedly. I didn't want anything on them. No decorations as I was going to add my own. Maybe he didn't want my service. How can a bakery not be able to do a two tone color top. Again, so disappointing as they did my son's cake a few years ago and it was beautiful.

Searched Yelp for a chocolate mousse cake for a birthday and ordered one, expecting a fresh cake. Greatly disappointed to have received a very stale cake! It wasn't just a few days old kind of thing, two layers of this cake were inedible. We all kind of tried to eat the top layer with some of the mousse (the mousse tasted okay) but we all ended up leaving the majority of the cake on the plate. I did call the bakery to let them know as a courtesy- I'm sure mgtment or owner would want to know but never received a call back. I'm not local so it doesn't matter but since I use Yelp to try to find what I'm looking for when out of town, I'm going to put this out there that there's a consistency problem so might not want to use for a special occasion.

Always loved Edelweiss, they're the opposite of non-personal big business. It's like the show Cheers, when you walk in they know your name and all your favorites.

I was so disappointed by the cakes here. My fiancé and I recently did their take-away box of cakes to taste test before our wedding. They looked beautiful, but were absolutely disgusting. Every single cake was over baked and dry. Further, one of the cakes was actually rancid and we had to spit out the bites we had taken. The lady working the counter who explained their wedding cake process was delightful and we were both excited to work with them for our cake. However, there is absolutely no way I will ever return for any of their pastries let alone a wedding cake. I don't know if the cakes had just been sitting for weeks without any quality control, but it's not something I'd spend money on.
