Where to Eat and Drink in Biddeford, Maine - Eater Boston
"If you’re too hungry to wait in line at Palace, grab a pastry — such as a chocolate-studded schoggiweggli bun with a decadent schmear of hazelnut cream — from Swiss-style bakery and confectionary Edelweiss Pastry Shop." - Stasia Brewczynski
Super cute shop!
All their pastries are beautifully displayed.
We enjoyed ham and cheese croissant.
Also chose to grab a few bonbons and they were absolutely delicious.
Service was warm and welcoming and we were able to have fun conversation connecting about California, New Mexico and wildflowers.

Cute place lots of options, all unique! The quiche is good but I wish they would have warmed it up. No iced coffee but they have hot coffee. I got some desserts to go. I’ll come back to write about these.

Stopped by while out on a bike ride in the area. Everything looked delicious! I chose a chocolate croissant that was huge and absolutely top notch. I had a nice chat with the bakers (owners?) and told them how fortunate I was to find their bakery. I will absolutely be back the next time I am in the area.

Went late in the day, they close at 2pm. We arrived at 1pm. Hubs had the cherry Kuchen and I tried a dark chocolate Coconut Truffle. Bought my daughter the Chocolate Weggli (review to follow lol) Great quality baked in-site yummy pastries and chocolates!

The most adorable and delicious pastry shop! We just finished one of the most amazing croissants I’ve ever had. I would buy the chestnut cream topping by itself for savory cooking too! A great stop for gifts of truffle boxes, sweet and savory baked goods for family events, and perfect for waiting for a table at a nearby business. I highly recommend a stop in!

Do yourself a favor and go here. The pastries and handmade chocolates are to die for. Unfortunately you cant order the chocolates online but it is so worth coming to get some small boxes for special little holiday gifts....or at least that was my excuse....

This place is so legit. I spent 3 years making cheese in the Alps. Never ever found a chocolate croissant or nußschnecken here in the US that tasted even close. Edelweiß pastries are better than what I ate in Austria. So glad they're right down the road.

My friend brought me here once and I keep coming back. The pastries are always fresh and delicious, I particularly love their croissants. They have different flavors which all taste amazing. The atmosphere is welcoming and amazing. The ladies are friendly as well. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
1st time here. Nice looking store. High end pastries & chocolates. Tried a few items: Chocolate croissant, rasberry cookie called spitzbub, a muffin type called Bailey's bread pudding & a chocolate & coconut type tort,
Everything was very good however The bread pudding had no custard . I 'd probably give it a different name. The owner & baker I assume is Valentina. She's very nice & informative.
I highly recommend you visit Edelweiss Bakery & chocolates directly across from Happy Garden.

Yelp
Mushy croissants. Bland bonbons. Snooty service ...like you should be glad we are here to serve you... sorry...sadly that has been the attidude each time. I don't get it. This is Maine. Tone the attitude down a bit and meet your customers where they are.
Pastries look delicious but I have been disappointed each time. I know they are a newish business, and the chef has great qualifications; he should be able to knock this out of the park. Maybe not enough business in Biddeford yet for a shop of this kind?? Also a bit pricy for the area.
The inside looks beautiful and like a great pastry should look.
Hope things sort out. I will try a few more times. Cheers

Yelp
Walked past this pastry shop and decided to take a look. The service was great and the spot had seatings for us to enjoy. We got a pear chocolate tart which was not too sweet which we enjoy! Cute little spot to check out.

Yelp
Biddeford's food scene gets better and better each time we come up. We were lucky to get here early enough to try some of the gorgeous pastries. I've tried the perfect croissants and the wonderfully, Rich, addictive, schnecken, a German cinnamon walnut roll. My other favorite is the orange blueberry brioche- so tender and flavorful. The owner and staff are lovely - attentive service. The shop s ambience is airy and super clean which I appreciate.

Yelp
I wish I would have had a photo of the lovely pastries that we got from this bakery but we all devoured them quickly.
Parking in the area is a bit tricky sometimes but we did fine a spot right away.
There were lots of choices for yummy pastries and we decided to get a box with a few choices. Everything was very good. Not overly sweet and perfect textures.
The stand out to me was the raspberry cream brioche that I would say is a must try. The croissants were amazing and crispy. The olive oil cake had a dense crumb and delicate flavor profile.
I think Edelweiss is worth the trip!

Yelp
Outstanding! Impeccable execution and service. Fresh and delicious pastries. An absolute asset to the area. Charming and cute shop, and the selection is diverse and divine. The raspberry brioche was stuffed with cream, the andouille quiche had a perfect crust and a ton of juicy sausage, and the Ovaltine cookies were just delightful and had the perfect chew and crackle. This is a beautiful place and I can't wait to return.

Yelp
We made a quick stop at a new place this morning. Edelweiss is a new addition to the Biddeford food scene. They're in a great location on Alfred Street. They've rehabbed some of the tile floor to keep the history in tact. Valentina and her husband run the place. She's super friendly. There are still a few things to get complete, but you can see into their beautiful kitchen while they wait for a door to come in. The space is really welcoming. These are amazing pastries! And for you coffee aficionados, they serve coffee from Time and Tide.

Yelp
Such a great option for morning pastries. Love their croissants (chocolate, hazelnut, ham and cheese) and daily focaccia. Makes for a great simple breakfast/brunch option. Also any of their desserts from the glass case are delicious - including any of the tarts and bread pudding. The bakery is bright and clean, and the owners are so gracious, welcoming, and knowledgeable about Swiss baking.
So happy they chose Biddeford to open their store!

Yelp
Croissants are outstanding! Great place for high quality and delicious pastries. It's always nice to be greeted by super friendly owners in the shop too!

Yelp
Service was friendly and attentive. There no steps from the sidewalk to business making it easy for people with mobility issues to enter. Restroom was clean and passed wife's inspection.

Yelp
Wonderful bakery! Ham and cheese croissant was delicious and flaky. Our kids loved the cookies and Swiss treats (Rivella and Kagj bars)

Yelp
Excellent pastries. Great service and you can tell the owners use the best ingredients. Biddeford is lucky to have this first class bakery.
