Where to Eat and Drink in Biddeford, Maine | Eater Boston

"If I need something quick or indulgent, I grab a pastry at this Swiss-style bakery and confectionary — think a chocolate-studded schoggiweggli bun with a decadent schmear of hazelnut cream." - Stasia Brewczynski

Google
Fantastic! Breakfast sandwich had bacon egg cheddar cheese and an aioli and it was an A+. The blueberry swirl roll and ham & Swiss croissant were also both top notch. Drinks came out incredibly hot!

Happened upon this bakery after giving up on breakfast places in Frisco because of the long wait. The restaurant next door to Edelweiss also had a long wait so we popped inside for coffee and actually hit the jackpot. This is such a cute, delicious bakery. Everything is made fresh that morning, right behind the counter. We got bacon egg and cheese sandwiches, which both my teenage boys said was the biggest ones they ever had. Apple streusel and lemon swirls were also delicious. Coffees were perfect. This is a perfect place to stop on your way up or down from the mountain.

Google
What an amazing surprise! We had the bacon cheddar croissant, a maple eclair, and and a raspberry cream cheese turnover. They were davoon! Best pastries we’ve had… would have love to tried more, but will have to come back.

Craig A.

Google
The breakfast sandwich is a 9.5/10. All that’s needed is a side of hot sauce. Next time I’m driving through from denver I will likely stop just for the sandwich! Really good

Google
Excellent warm turnover and hot coffee. I came to this little place after a cold motorcycle ride, and was greeted with friendly faces, great atmosphere, and warm treats. Coming here again!

Google
Stopped here on our way from Aspen to Denver and didn't taste our baked goods until we arrived at the airport. We had the strawberry swirl, lemon turnover and a monster cookie and we are so mad we didn't buy a dozen more. They were incredibly fresh tasting and so delicious!! Can't wait to stop again on our next trip! So, so delicious! ♥️

Andrew D.

Google
Best pastries in all of Colorado if you ask me. Owners are super nice and we make a special stop everytime I go through Idaho Springs. If you like eclairs this is your place. Grab a couple and also try a Napoleon and you will not be disappointed

Josh

Google
This is my favorite bakery in Colorado, everything is made fresh that day and it is always absolutely delicious. Staff is friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. If you're traveling down I-70, take a stop and check them out

Yelp
Small and cute pastry shop with some really good pastries! The inside was clean and the employee was very friendly. Everything we tried out was fresh and tasted good.

Yelp
We were short on time but stopped here for a quick meal. The employee was very friendly and took our order fast. We ordered a ham and cheese croissant, a berry strudel, and a cream cheese type of pastry. We sat down and she brought us our food as it was ready. The ham and cheese croissant was really good but it was cold in the center. I could've asked her to rewarm it for us but she was then too busy. The other two pastries were delicious. The inside had plenty of seating and has a cozy type of vibe.

Yelp
Cute pastry and coffee shop in Idaho springs. We enjoyed a little of both. Great service and liked checking out some of their gift items as well.

Yelp
The Edelweiss Pastry Shop was unexpectedly delicious. I've been to more than a few shops offering European pastries that are just disappointing and these were not. They were really good and my Americano definitely put some pepper in my step. We really enjoyed our visit and I expect that we will be back.

Yelp
We stopped by yesterday for a tea and two pastries. The service was great and so was the food. It's a quant little shop with a great ambiance. The shop was clean and orderly. We will definitely stop by here again while in town.

Yelp
I had a pretty good pastry here! I tried the cream cheese/raspberry one & it was solid. Nothing to rave about, but good. Cute place inside & also has outside seating. Giving three stars because i had a very weird service experience here. I was next in line and the worker looked right at me and proceeded to give everyone in line samples of almonds except me. He then proceeded to skip me in line & serve the people behind me. I had to speak up to a different employee to get service. Very strange experience.

Yelp
This place is incredible Their pastries are fresh and brilliant The napoleon is our of this world I'm a bakery snob being fun NYC a s this piece has it all The NEW MANAGEMENT has really turned this into something noteworthy

Maureen S.

Yelp
Friendly staff, delicious pastries!!!! It was the BEST Napoleon I ever had!!!!! Highly recommend!

Ellie R.

Yelp
I asked for a iced latte and it wasn't iced idk if they do that and then I told the guy working I didn't want my pastry heated up he tried to convince me to heat it up and when I said no he heated it up anyway

Yelp
The cutest and most delicious little find in Idaho Springs :) I truly happened upon this place by accident. I was driving up to the mountains from Denver and had to stop to take a quick work call. Idaho Springs was the closest town, so I pulled off, parked, and walked down the main street in hopes of finding a little shop to work from. Edelweiss Pastry Shop caught me before I could even peek inside - I saw the sign from a few shops away, and it sounded absolutely charming! I stepped inside and immediately realized it was perfect. They have quite a few tables and chairs (a spacious, yet cozy set up) and some incredible-looking pastries. I walked up to the counter to admire the selection and decided on a blueberry turnover. The man working the counter offered to heat it and bring it to my table for me (which was very kind). I found a table and settled in, and was already buried in work emails when he came with my turnover. It was, in a word, divine. The flakes! The blueberry filling with the glaze on top! I couldn't imagine a more perfect pastry. It was heaven. I worked for about an hour, then packed up and went back to the counter to buy three more turnovers for the road (could NOT resist). I was also planning on stopping again on my way home, but traffic was bad, and we had to skip it. However, now that I know about it, you can bet I'll be stopping at every opportunity to and from the mountains - or just driving up to Idaho Springs for the sole purpose of getting some little treats from here :) Loved it.

Yelp
Best pastries around! We travel through Idaho springs going to and from mountain biking. We always stop here for DELICIOUS pastries. The Kringle is Christmas in a pastry! My new favorite! And the cinnamon rolls are unbelievable. Never can go wrong with anything here!!

Susan M.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Had the peach and apple pastry!! Our tour guide recommended - great find.

Yelp
After we ate our yummy pizza in Idaho springs. I had a sweet tooth so we stopped here to try out some goodies. I got a cherry turn over and let me tell you it did not disappoint. The turn over bread was so flaky and crispy, the cherry filling was gooey and warm. I don't normally like cherry filled anything but this was to die for. I will definitely be back to try their other flavors.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute pastry shop in an adorable town - make sure to pop in for a pastry! We tried the blueberry roll, raspberry and cream pastry, and an apple turnover and would recommend them all. Tip: get a discount for paying cash, and ask them to warm up your treats!
google avatar

Lakoda M.

Yelp
Me and my family come here every morning before snowboarding to eat the best pastries in the state at crazy low prices too! And all of the people working there are really nice to us! As well as the place feeling warm & cozy with the decor..
google avatar

Derek K.

Yelp
Absolutely the best family pastry shop I've been to hands down! We came in to a guy handing us a free caramel-ized almond for no reason. We had good options and the food held up to the looks. Great aesthetic and they even had free women products in a super clean bathroom. This is forever on my favorites list.
google avatar

Katherine C.

Yelp
Stopped in here on our walk throughout town and picked up a few pastries. I have to say, these were some of the best pasties we've had. This truly was the cinnamon roll I've ever had -- and I live in New York. This tasted like a cinnamon roll, apple pie fusion. Can't wave enough that this is worth a stop!

Ron A.

Yelp
Absolutely the best cinnamon rolls anywhere in the World. In addition their other treats are top notch, I'm just partial to the cinnamon rolls. Their recipe and attention to quality is tops. This is a must for anyone driving I70. Open Thursday to Sunday, run by a great couple that couldn't be any nicer. Give them a try and tell them Ron from TX sent you. (The to go cinnamon rolls guy)
google avatar

Ed D.

Yelp
This restaurant has such good pastries. Definitely a must stop if you're in town! We had the Apple streudel and raspberry turnover and they were delicious! The prices were very good for the quality of pastry.

Raul N.

Yelp
The cinnamon rolls and croissant's were delicious good place to stop by in and out to grab a snack
google avatar

Daniel W.

Yelp
Cute little European bakery. Tried the apple turnover, definitely was worth the price. They are a mom and pop shop, and definitely excel in service. 5/5 would come again
google avatar

Tristan F.

Yelp
Nice little pastry shop in Idaho Springs on our way to Dillon! The pastries are simple yet prepared perfectly! Very kind employees and their pastries are reasonably priced as well. Would highly recommend if you're heading out toward Dillon/Breckinridge/Silverthorne.
google avatar

Stephanie D.

Yelp
The people who work here are so nice! They gave me an almond sample when i came in and i got an apple turnover. It was just the right amount of sweetness and the pastry was well baked. Great pastry shop in idaho springs!
google avatar

Candi A.

Yelp
This mom & pop shop is AMAZING! It is a must visit when passing through Idaho Springs. My wife and I are from San Antonio, TX and brought home a blueberry turnover and pecan coffee cake as a souvenir... BEST DECISION ever! We will be in contact to see if Edelweiss does shipping!
google avatar

Mytoan N.

Yelp
The quiche sliders were fantastic and service was very friendly. We stopped here 39 minutes away from Denver- worth a day trip along with all the other things to do.

Yelp

Yelp
Best chocolate croissant I ever had in my life! Homey-looking place with homemade baked goods. Very friendly staff.
google avatar

Yelp
What a sweet little shop, with such great pastries! We tried the strawberry swirl and the Napoleon. The strawberry swirl was our favorite- the filling was perfectly sweetened, with a delicate glaze on top of the pastry. It was so good! The Napoleon was delicious, if a little heavy first thing in the morning. The pastry to cream ratio leaned heavy on the cream, which was super rich. I think it would have been great to share after dinner, rather than at breakfast. Overall a great shop with really great fresh baked goods!
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped by this shop while shopping in downtown Idaho Springs. The owner met me at the counter and gave me a sample. The store has lots of variety, with all types of pastries. The shop was clean and the staff was very nice. We bought two turn-overs and they were fresh and delicious. We will definitely visit them again when we are in the area.
google avatar

Kara Z.

Yelp
WHOA. The napoleon made me so very happy- truly delicious! The chocolate eclair was also excellent!!! We weren't in love with the turnovers but they were still pretty good. Friendly owners and kind service. Our favorite candy shop in Colorado closed and so we were looking for something sweet and walked a few doors down and found this gem of a place- they will be our new favorite stop in Idaho Springs for dessert now!
google avatar

Whitney S.

Yelp
A quaint mom and pop shop and I wish I could have stayed longer. What sweet humans with precious ideals! I was greeted with a fresh candied almond (which strongly encouraged me to buy a whole bag) treats for the pup, lovely art from local artists and book shares. I got a bacon and Swiss croissant that was flaky and delicious! COVID restrictions were enforced which was greatly appreciated.

Kathy B.

Yelp
Excellent pastry and prices. The owner was kind and attentive. Came for the cinnamon roll and stayed for a napoleon and some pumpkin bread. Highly suggest stopping by.

Yelp
On our first morning enjoying our vacation in Idaho Springs, we had to find a treat to celebrate the trip. We passed by this sweet, understated shop and decided to stop in. Their lighthearted sign outside also made us smile. Upon stepping in were offered a sample of their specialty sugary almonds, which was a thoughtful and welcoming gesture. I chose the Apple Strudel, and my husband choose the Mixed Berry Cream Cheese Turnover - and two hot coffees. Their space inside is airy and light for sitting indoors. It was a beautiful morning so we sat at their outdoor table. My strudel was simply delicious, and my husband really liked his pasty too! Coffee was yummy. The staff is kind and generous, and welcoming. Please don't second guess it - stop in!

Cherilee B.

Yelp
THE best chocolate eclair I have ever had in my life!! And I've had a few ;) Disappointed I came back through town to get another and caught them on a day off. This will be a regular stop for us.
google avatar

Chad M.

Yelp
You can never go wrong here. Everything is excellent. A must stop whenever in Idaho Springs.
google avatar

Danielle S.

Yelp
I stopped in for a post-lunch treat. The cream cheese strudel was made to perfection. It was sweet (but not too sweet) and flakey and delicious -- easily one of the best pastries I've ever had. So glad I discovered this place. Staff was friendly and offered a sample of the roasted almonds.
google avatar

Matthew B.

Yelp
O. M. G. The absolute best ham and cheese croissant I have had in a long time (have one warmed there and then order all they have and take them home for later). The Napoleon was amazing too and so unique- a mostly Bavarian cream filling in between delicate pastry with a light frosting. Try it!
google avatar

Tad H.

Yelp
Another score for the town of Idaho Springs! Pastries were really good. Not too sweet, but really yummy and flakey the way pastries should be. I'll be back the next time we are in the area. Check them out.
google avatar

Stacey K.

Yelp
Cute little local shop with authentic European pastries! The vibe is great, nice seating. There is a take a book leave a book spot, which was cool. The owners were super friendly! We even picked up a couple dog biscuits for our fur babies!
google avatar

Allison B.

Yelp
Friendly people, cozy atmosphere for enjoying delicious pastries! Had the cinnamon roll to-go; the pastry was well baked. The cinnamon filling has a great flavor, there's something special in there, and the icing is perfectly sweet and crunchy on top. Also had a ham and cheese croissant. Definitely ask for it hot and wrapped up so you can eat it while you walk around IS!
google avatar

Kelsey R.

Yelp
The BEST Bavarian cream I have ever had and they don't skimp! Go try a Napoleon and decide for yourself! Also, they owners were so sweet and gracious.
google avatar

Brenda M.

Yelp
Mini eclair, lemon and cream cheese turnover, and almond croissant were all amazing! The offered to save me a beer pretzel or two that they'll bake Thursday. (I'm driving through Friday morning, so I thought that was super sweet and very personal.) They offer 2 gluten free options, which I appreciated since I'm GF. (Can't review those options since I passed on them, and dealt with the stomach ache from eating their deliciously gluten-full options) They also bake pumpkin and bacon pup treats. Our 5 month old goldendoodle devoured the pumpkin treats, but he doesn't know what's coming to him with the bacon! Highly recommend this bakery!! Super sweet couple who work super hard to run this awesome bakery with scratch-made goods.
google avatar

Cat S.

Yelp
Amazing croissants! The owner was really nice and gave us free samples of his spiced almonds (also amazing). Definitely worth a visit.

Anna M.

Yelp
The cinnamon roll was one of the best (if not the best) cinnamon rolls that I have ever had. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and purchased one for my son. It was huge that so we all got to try a bite. The dough was tender, buttery and flakey and went so well with the sweet glaze and cinnamon mixture. I have a feeling we will be stopping by this gem any time we are in the area.
google avatar

Tania M.

Yelp
If you are in Idaho Springs you should really go to this amazing pastry shop. Cool ambiance and the MOST DELICIOUS apple strudel in the US. The owner learned baking this pastries in the traditional way in Europe. Take one warm apple strudel and go walking the street. We did this on a Saturday and came back Sunday for more
google avatar

Kathryn J.

Yelp
We stumbled into this pastry shop after lunch next door at the Main Street Restaurant. I was born in Germany, so the name caught my attention. We were too full, so we got a cream cheese pastry to go. Hours later we wished we had bought more than one! Absolutely delicious! Friendly service. Check this place out!

Yelp
I visited the Edelweiss Pastry Shop today and was welcomed with smiles and pastries. The service was exceptional and the space in general was welcoming. The paintings and plants are a nice touch and the seating was great. I got the mini eclaire and was delighted about how good it was. I would definitely recommend coming here as I would do so myself if I visited the area again.
