The Best Brunch Places In Silver Lake

"People often forget about Edendale, a friendly neighborhood bar and restaurant (maybe because of its location right off the five?). Which is a mistake, seeing that it’s one of the prettiest places to grab brunch in Silver Lake. It’s housed in a massive brick building, the remnants of an old fire station, complete with a sprawling courtyard, secluded dining rooms, and a sunny patio out front. At brunch, they serve a full menu of California/Mexican dishes like enchiladas verdes, half-pound angus burgers, and french toast brulee, plus bottomless mimosas for $17 per person." - kat hong

Edendale Review - Silver Lake - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"There was a time when even the thought of going to Edendale on a weekend was met with immediate heartburn simply because of how long you knew you’d be waiting for a table. Luckily, those days are gone, and Edendale has turned into a fantastic neighborhood brunch spot with a front patio ideal for mimosa-ing your way through the weekend. The fire station-turned-restaurant still has a great, low-key atmosphere and food that’s always solid." - Brant Cox

Yelp
This place is amazing! Firstly, it's incredibly quaint, charming, and architecturally stunning, having previously been a local fire station. The brickwork and archways are something you rarely see today in the modern era of cookie-cutter character-free cube buildings. I definitely feel transported to a different era when I'm there. Additionally, they have a gorgeous interior with a stunning woodwork bar area, along with TWO outdoor patio areas. Both are serene, chill, and amazing to enjoy your meal in. The atmosphere alone is good enough to recommend this place, even if you weren't a fan of the food. However, the food is actually incredible. Everything I've had there is delicious, well-balanced, and memorable. They make a lot of seemingly simple standard dishes, such as breakfast biscuits, french toast, and even more ubiquitous things like mac and cheese and roasted brussel sprouts (a popular trend these days). Despite looking simple or perhaps even boring, these are the best versions of these dishes I've had yet. I've never had better biscuits, and their version of roasted brussel sprouts is the standard to which I compare all others. Even their french fries were incredible, which is hard to do given the ubiquity and heavy competition in creating good french fries. I constantly recommend going here with friends and family, especially when they are visiting out of town. I don't live particularly close to Edendale, but I like this place so much that I make excuses/find reasons to drive into the area so I can eat there. Overall, it's one of my absolute favorite restaurants. Oh, and they are pet friendly! Which is an absolutely enormous cherry on top for pet owners.

Yelp
Edendale was a cute place to come and visit! I love the revival of historical buildings, so the ambiance was super fun. We originally sat inside the dining room, but were the only people there so our server kindly let us move out front where it was a bit more lively and the weather was perfect. Food was good! I got the edendale Caesar. The lettuce was a bit wilted....but it still tasted good. Partner got the bbq shrimp and elote corn. It was super good, but very heavy!

Yelp
The atmosphere was great! The restaurant is a converted retired firehouse. There are two options for outdoor patio seating. I'd recommend the back patio for more intimacy. There is also a fun Photo Booth in the back. Definitely a great spot for a date night. Service was good. The food was alright. I ordered the Cauliflower Piccata per recommendation and felt hungry afterwards. The price and quality of food disappointed me. I wouldn't come here out of my own will.

Yelp
This place is a Silver Lake gem! Easy delicious comfort food with great cocktails! We met our friends for a Friday night dinner and ate outside on their beautiful patio. The service was attentive and friendly and the food is always consistent. To start our friends had Martinis, I had the R & R and my husband had an IPA. For an appetizer we had the Harissa Cauliflower which was tasty but it wasn't spicy even though it had Harissa. For our main course I had the Fish and Chips, my husband the Half Pound Angus Burger with Tater Tots, our friends had the Sausage Campanelle and the Impossible Burger. Everyone was happy with their choices. We even had a Warm Berry Cobbler for dessert! Yes, we rolled on out but it was worth it.

Yelp
My friend chose this restaurant and I am excited to try a new place. We had a reservation for a party of five on a Saturday evening. We chose to sit outside for the ambience as they turned on lights in the evening. It felt brighter sitting outside vs. inside. Here's everything we ordered: Cauliflower piccata Chicken breast au jus Steak frites Pilsner Ginger beer Smoking maid Simm's cup Asparagus tempura Charcuterie board Parmesan tater tots Warm berry cobbler Bread pudding Cashew vanilla cheesecake The servers are extremely welcoming. Food came out in a perfect timing. We started off with drinks and appetizers, followed by the main course and finished with desserts. The atmosphere, delicious food and great company made this night perfect! Personally I enjoyed Cauliflower piccata and Steak frites very much. I cannot wait to come back and try other dishes on the menu. Parking can be difficult to find. I was able to find street parking in the neighborhood.

Yelp
We picked this location for our ladies night on a busy Friday. Reservations were made and we were seated outside on their open patio area. The service throughout the night was top notch. The server kept the drinks flowing. My favorite drink would be the P-22. This drink was refreshing, perfectly poured...not too sweet either. We mostly ordered appetizers and all were good. I picked the tempura asparagus after seeing it arrive at a table nearby. Those spears were delicious with crunchy tempura and served with 2 different dipping sauces, the aioli being my favorite. I do wish they would have trimmed the bottom of the asparagus though, it was a bit chewy at the end. This was a great location for our group. We had a fun night all around.

Yelp
Welcome to Edendale. This placed used to be a Fire station built in 1924 and it served the neighborhood of Edendale For over 60 years. It has a very old Hollywood vibe because it used to be close to a lot of silent movie studios Their menu focuses on worldly comfort food, great cocktails. Went here with a group of girlfriends of mine and we had a blast. Our server was Drew and he was very friendly and recommended a lot of good dishes. Loved their cheese and charcuterie board, the Brussels sprouts were tasty and the chips and guacamole were fr The casual environment makes Edendale the perfect spot for a variety of occasions.

Yelp
I wish I could write a review based on their foods, however we never got to try them. upon arriving, we were told there is a wait time and "goodbye". it was shocking as we have never seen something like this before, usually after they inform you of a wait-time they ask for phone number and give you an approximate wait time, so anyway, I asked what's the wait time and it was less than hour, so I; myself asked to put down my number and mentioned we will be hanging around the bar till it's our turn. anyway, more than 70-80 mins went by without getting a text, we actually never got a text from this restaurant ( so I really wonder if she actually entered our number)/ The person who got my number was straight up rude and was obvious that she just want to get rid of the costumers. we for sure wont go back to this place.

Yelp
This review is not based on the food but the service. I attended an event for the City Council member in the district. The outside seating area was full to capacity and a lively crowd. The inside was dimly lit with a mid sized crowd. There are 4 rooms/sections. The entrance with a wall full of black and white photos displaying the history of the area. There is the dance floor area. Next room includes the bar and lastly the dining area. As I walked throughout the entire restaurant, staff was serving, assisting, communicating and guiding customers. It was clear the team has a top notch staff crew. I look forward to returning for dinner to update my review.

Yelp
Really cute restaurant that is in an old fire house. I went to dinner on a Tuesday, there were not many people in the main dining area but the bar was packed. I had the fish and chips, which were great although the tarter sauce was not my favorite. My fiancé had the chicken sliders which were bigger than we thought they would be and were great as well. Service was really good. They had a large draft beer menu along with several cans and bottle options as well. I would def go back to sit at the bar.

Yelp
As legend tells it, this venue has been around for quite some time. I am in Love. The set up and vibe show that these folks know what they are doing. Wow. Just popped in to catch up with a friend who moved to the area and I encountered a solid Happy Hour to my surprise. An attentive staff with great skills. I'm coming back soon to try the food. Beautiful, Super Clean, with vintage Hollywood decor. An Old School Classic spot to be treated with Respect.

Yelp
Enjoyed Saturday brunch today. The corned beef hash was excellent, and a very generous portion. We also shared an excellent charcuterie board with our friends and some draft beers and mimosas. The ambience is unique and very attractive, a restored 1924 Spanish style firehouse. Loved the historical neighborhood photos and movie star photos from the 1920's!

Yelp
We spontaneously came here for Saturday brunch/lunch. It's been sometime since I've eaten here and remembered the food being very good. Beside the cool ambiance, the food was not up to par. Visually, the plates looked delicious! The beet salad had way too many beets. Yes, I know it's a beet salad but it needed more balance with the arugula, burrata, etc. The Avocado toast had large chuncks of green onions on it ( not listed on the menu). Unfortunately the person who ordered the Avocado toast doesn't do onions. The Monte Cristo was dry and crunchy but the ham was really good. Normally, the bread is dipped in egg and fried or grilled like French toast and is served with jelly, honey or maple syrup. This one had a sunny side up egg on top. Ok, thier own version but way to dry. The BLT's sandwich that we ordered had overcooked bacon. There was only one waiter so it took a long time before we were able to order and it seemed quit awhile before we got our food. Maybe it was an off day for them not real sure but likely won't return for brunch or lunch. I may return in the future to check out the dinner menu. 2 stars for the meal, 4 for cocktails.

Yelp
Great place to get drinks! I love the patio and the drinks are delicious, too. It's quiet on weekdays and the patio is wonderful in the summer.

Yelp
Restaurant was cute, but the food had no flavor. Waiters were pleasant but greeter was just bland.

Yelp
Wonderful ambiance, food, and service! We had drinks at the bar before dinner. The bartenders are attentive and skillful. The P&P was dangerously good. We were seated outside and enjoyed the asparagus tempura that melts in your mouth. Our salad was crisp and perfectly garlicky. The braised short rib and the four cheese ravioli shrimp scampi were amazing. What wonderful history in an old firehouse. Their back patio was filled with people and was such a great area for parties. We will most definitely be back and will refer our friends on this gem! Thank you!
google avatar

Janell C.

Yelp
Where do I start? I know! Cute cute cute! Old firehouse. Genius! It was cute. The bathrooms screamed clean tooo. Service on fire. Waiter was so cool. Kept my beers coming. He had a tattoo of his doggie. Loved it. Can't go wrong with us Fur Parents. Tempura asparagus! What a treat. Burger. Simple but I liked it. I'm coming back for more tempura. Two orders for me.

Yelp
Been going to this place for awhile for nighttime fun, but went this morn for brunch. Arrived there close to noon and only a few people were there, not busy at all. We opted to sit inside, I like the ambience inside. The seats and wallpaper have a very old mansion vibe. They have bottomless mimosas and they actually bring you the whole bottle of champagne for $23. It's a great deal. Fresh orange juice comes with it as well. We got the fresh fruit with Tajin and lime, very good. Only $9 for a good amount of fruit. I got the wild mushroom toast, comes with an egg very very yummy. My husband got the corned beef hash, big plate also very yummy. The whole check with 2 bottomless mimosas the fruit plate and two entrees was less then $100. This place is great, service great, ambiance great, great food. I will for sure be going back again for brunch.

Yelp
Good place for a gathering with friends. The be service is very fast. You can smoke at the rear patio.

Yelp
i ate here this week with a friend after looking at this place on line a few times. The food was very good. i had the salmon , which was delicious. My friend had a pasta, and sausage bowl. That dish was just ok to me. The menu is very varied with no clear theme or cuisine type, but thats ok if the quality is there, and i think it is. The service was also very good, very attentive and sweet. The decor was more casual than I anticipated, no table cloths and kinda uncomfortable wooden chairs. This certainly did put anyone but me off, as the place was full with what seemed to be a young local crowd. My pino was really good too. So i would come back, but not rush back, maybe when its nice out and we could sit outside.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere at Edendale. Kinda feels like a place you would go to in Santa Barbara. And the outside seating is nice bc it's not just some tables on the sidewalk! The salmon teriyaki and the Caesar were yummy. The cauliflower was just ok. Restaurant is dog friendly in the patio and bar.

Yelp
Went last Thursday for trivia night and was really impressed. They have patios out front and back, and the interior is very cute. Good service at the bar and the fish n chips were awesome.
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed the front patio at Edendale, but this time we decided to eat indoors. I was pleasantly surprised at how cozy it was. Service was attentive but not hurried. Good choice of beer and cocktails. We shared several dishes, and were especially happy with the short ribs and the caprese salad. We'll be back.

Yelp
Met a friend at the bar for drinks and dinner last night. Service was completely nonexistent. Our bartender who wore a fur hat had to constantly be chased down for obvious drink refills, food orders - it was comical. It was like we were inconveniencing her or something. And her setup was right in front of us, so it's not as though she didn't see us. Fish and chips were fine, except the food arrived cold. But the best part was when my friend who picked up the bill and paid by card, only gave a $10 tip - since again, service was garbage - was chased after by some male staff member as we were leaving asking if the amount he tipped was correct. My friend confirmed it was and that service was brutal and he wasn't going to hand out cash just because. Dude rolled his eyes and stormed off. Classy.
google avatar

Coach P.

Yelp
The short ribs were good! I can say that I have had better! I think the sauce was lacking in favor!
google avatar

Eva L.

Yelp
decent drinks! worst calamari i've had in my life! more fried bits than squid/octopus, and the seafood present was so small you could barely taste it. aioli it was served with was ok. it's served on a bed of picked jalapeños and pepperoncini..super salty, did not get through half of the app.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little brunch place. My friends and I came here on a Sunday afternoon, and it wasn't too busy! I got the 2 egg breakfast ($16) with scrambled eggs, pork sausage, tater tots, and wheat toast. I thought the eggs were a tad dry but otherwise, really good! We also ordered some Yo! eggs on the side which is their version of vegan eggs. Honestly, they look like boobs lol I honestly didn't really like them, but if you're vegan, could be an option for you! Outside of the food, really like the ambiance of the place. The interiors look like an old school speak easy. Overall, would recommend this place!
google avatar

Ron M.

Yelp
My wife and I love this place completely. They have added several compassionate items to the menu. The vegan grilled cheese is unbelievable. Get it with the tomato soup. They're cocktails are always on point, and the staff are all incredibly kind and warm. Just say hi to them and be kind. They will treat you right.

Yelp
I really enjoyed dining at Edendale. The beer selection was above-average, the food top-notch, and the service was outstanding. Our server, I believe her name was Missy, was efficient, friendly, and, dare I say, playfully flirtatious. Her charm made this meal memorable in just about every way. I'll be sure to visit Edendale when I'm in this part of town again.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for bottomless brunch - so mostly just for the drinks rather than the food. And I do think you should only really come here for the drinks. Bottomless is pretty cheap at $17 per person and it's a nice setup since they just give you the whole champagne bottle and a little glass of orange juice to pour yourself. The ambiance on the patio is cute as well. We came in at 2 pm and they closed at 3pm but we were still able to get maybe around 5 bottles for 6 people. Fried chicken buns ($13) - this came out a lot tinier than expected. From the pictures on Yelp, it seemed huge but it was really just 2 slider-sized buns. The chicken was alright, on the drier side and the coleslaw wasn't enough to fix that. But of course, the food is just the accessory for the bottomless drinks so it was fine. Was also a little miffed that they didn't mention gratuity was already included in the check as they do at other places. They do not take Apple Pay.
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Randomly stopped by for dinner. The ambiance is so cool and cozy. Has a vintage 1920's silent film era vibe. Had the best grilled cheese and tomato soup I've ever had! Need to come back for it.
google avatar

Rene C.

Yelp
Food has lately become mediocre bar food. The old cook must have quit. Management is going mostly for expensive drinks to rack up revenue. Service was good but food did not match the pretty patio seating.

Yelp
Delicious food and great ambience! Parking is difficult but very worth to go chilaquiles were exquisite.

Yelp
This place is kind of gorgeous! I love all the details. The exterior seating is like a little beautiful courtyard. The interior is so unique and beautiful. Drinks are yum! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Romantic bar/restaurant with outdoor dining patio. Indoor dining is also available. Came here for a friend's surprise engagement get-together around 8:30pm on a Friday evening and we had a group of around 20 spread across the small tables alongside the wall in the outdoor patio area. Parking was difficult - street parking may be available on the road or you'll have to search in the neighborhoods. Credit cards are accepted. You order food/drinks at the bar and you'll receive a number to place at your table. The fries were crispy and a good size for 3-4 people to split. The mac and cheese's sauce was a bit thin but I liked the baked bread crumbs on top. The calamari was the best thing we ordered and had a mild kick. The fried chicken sliders came in two and were okay. The drinks were more of the main draw, and they do have bottles of champagne available for purchase in case you're trying to celebrate a special event. Overall, it's a cute spot to have a date night or go with a big group.

Yelp
Excellent venue- Large Door to bar stays open - so cold. Stingy in the help so service lacking Food is good - nice presentation Vibe varies with crowd 8 pm on Wednesday So... check it out, c for yourself !!

Yelp
When dining out, we anticipate a sumptuous culinary adventure, tantalizing our taste buds with flavors and delicacies. Unfortunately, during our visit to Edendale, we were met with a different experience that left much to be desired. From the get-go, the ambience of Edendale is an undeniable attraction. The establishment exudes a captivating vibe that entices you to let loose and enjoy the evening. The decor is tastefully curated, creating an environment that is both sophisticated and relaxing. This is certainly a highlight of the restaurant and one of its redeeming qualities. The drinks menu is quite commendable, offering a well-rounded selection that caters to different preferences. Whether you prefer a classic cocktail, an exotic concoction, or a simple wine, you will find something to your liking. In particular, the bartender's craftsmanship deserves praise; they seem to have a knack for mixing just the right proportions to deliver beverages that are both refreshing and enjoyable. However, the dining experience took a regrettable turn when it came to the food. The dishes served lacked the fundamental characteristic of any good meal - flavor. The food was notably under-seasoned, leaving a bland taste in the mouth. This was a significant letdown as we expected the meals to reflect the same level of excellence as the drinks. Furthermore, the texture of the food was problematic. Many dishes were served soggy, which ruined the overall experience. Whether it was due to a rushed preparation or improper storage, the quality was not up to par. This is an area where Edendale must invest significant improvements if they hope to compete with other establishments in the culinary arena. In conclusion, while Edendale has potential with its fantastic ambiance and impressive drinks menu, the culinary experience severely detracted from our visit. The lack of seasoning and improper food texture were glaring issues that are hard to overlook. If the kitchen can raise its standards to match the quality of the rest of the establishment, Edendale could be a worthwhile dining destination. Until then, we would recommend it primarily for its drinks and atmosphere, and not for a fulfilling dining experience.

Yelp
Rude and Awful and creepy bartenders on a consistent bases. If you're reading this, please do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. The rudest bartenders in LA with the worst service and Overpriced food and drinks. The heavy set guy with his shirt unbutton and his sidekick with his rolled up sleeves behind the bar are consistently two of the rudest and worst bartenders I have ever encountered. Not to mention the fact that one of their bartenders, who spent the night giving me friend "free shots", cornered her in the photo booth and threw a childlike fit when she wouldn't kiss him and his wanted him to leave. They should shut this place down. I am a career bartender, this place is not how bartenders should treat the patrons. This has happened every time I have ever gone in there. Literally. Horrible.

Yelp
I love this place so much. The ambiance is fantastic and the food is sooo good. I love their pasta. Also great drink selection! I've come during the week and on a Friday and have always been sat down almost instantly. I don't know if they qualify as a hidden gem but they're great.

Yelp
beautiful restaurant and great service. big bar, and beautiful ourdoor and indoor seating. Good food, decent drinks. however.... it is expensive. not worth breaking the bank over
google avatar

Melanie L.

Yelp
simply solid! Edendale had been such a good place to go for dinner on nights when I just don't feel like cooking. It has always been a great option and never disappoints. It's not a 'this is the best meal I've ever had in my life' type of place but it is really, exceptionally good! Cute outdoor ambiance, great for meeting a friend for dinner and drinks and the bar is a cute little vibe. 4/5
google avatar

Lauren A.

Yelp
First outdoor dining of the year and first time at Edendale, so good! They were full on a Tuesday night, but it was also their second night open. I recommend making reservations. The service is amazing, we were taken care of from start to finish. Happy hour (5-7 I believe) doesn't have anything that exciting for food, but drinks are great. We loved the Mac and cheese, it's small portions but perfect amount for 2. Also recommend Fish and chips, light and crispy and the fries are also delicious. Of course we had to get dessert, the lemon cheesecake was well worth the indulgence!
google avatar

Yelp
always a great experience. food was amazing service was on point i would 100% recommend this place

Yelp
We really enjoyed an early dinner at Edendale. Loved the decor and the relaxed vibe. The servers match the place. Hip and cool with a relaxed vibe. The Fried Chicken Buns were really good. They were so o good that we ordered another plate. We also shared the Elote Corn. I was surprised at first that it was cold. I thought it was roasted corn etc... But it didn't matter because it was awesome and we wolfed it down. Drinks from the bar were excellent. The bar was big and also had a cool vibe. We walked past the bar on our way out the back and... it was a party scene out on the back patio!! Tons of people, loud, party vibe!! We will definitely be heading back to Edendale.
google avatar

Griffin C.

Yelp
After doing the usual LA rooftop places, we wanted a place that was more down to earth. Homey even. Edendale was perfect. Drinks are festive (I meant creative but auto correct) and different, and well priced. We skipped appetizers, actually we ordered one but they forgot (but that's alright). Main courses were excellent. Loved the chicken and pasta dishes. Caramelized Brussels sprouts are my new favorite thing.
google avatar

Yelp
First of all, walking up to this place...just got me excited! Such a beautiful entry. I just started thinking how can I come here more. The host was really warm and personable and we got seated right away. We were a table for 4, but we had come a little earlier. It was nice to be seated so that we could get a jump on looking at the menu. We shared a few appetizers such as the Cashew hummus crudo and the calamari. Strongly suggest the hummus-had a nice texture and garlicky. Then for dinner, I got the steak frites and my husband got the fish and chips. I preferred his and he preferred mine. Always nice to share! For drinks, I tried the Hibiscus margarita and the R&R-both were good and the price is less than most restaurants, which I loved. The server was very attentive. I can't wait to go back and would definitely love to bring friends that are visiting from outside of LA to try this place.

Yelp
It's rare to find historic architecture in LA, which makes Edendale a must-visit for the atmosphere alone. It used to be a fire station that's been IMPECCABLY renovated and wraps you in the most cozy, vintage vibes. Like time-traveling to the 1920s. The bar is where fire engines parked and is HUGE! Warm wood, enormous mirrors, and big/comfortable stools. I always show up early to have a drink there because it's so special. There's TWO outdoor patios and it looks like you can smoke in the one in the back, which a rare treat. Food and drinks don't disappoint. Prices are comparable and fair. I appreciate the seasonal updates! Service has always been friendly. The crowds are young, hip, and attractive. Everyone seems to be glowing while savoring tasty food/drink in such a comfy, beautiful environment. We always leave the place elated. Super romantic!

Alex M.

Yelp
One of the top 5 meals I've ever had. We had an early dinner on a weeknight and the dining room was nearly empty. The decor and lighting was gorgeous. Admittedly, it did take 15 minutes for someone to come up to our table to take drink orders, but the food more than made up for the slower service. The Chicken Au Jus is one of the best plates of food I've ever had! The brussels sprouts were amazing. For dinner we got the bread pudding which was great too. Truly felt like incredibly expensive cuisine for a mid-range price. Will definitely be returning.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. Every space had its own atmosphere. The outside patio was serene and attractive while the bar area was very inviting. Oh and the food and drinks were great. Try the Black Walnut Manhattan.
