Where to Drink Astral Margs in Denver | Eater

"Casual and laidback, Edgewater Beer Garden’s dining room opens to its spacious garden that’s filled with long communal tables, adding to its biergarten feel. A quaint neighborhood haunt, beer is obviously central to the drinks program, but those who prefer cocktails won’t be disappointed with a basil paloma, made with Astral, lime, basil, and grapefruit juice. The menu features burgers, sandwiches, salads, bowls, and street tacos, all approachable bites in a convivial atmosphere. Looking for more margs? Check out these other bars and restaurants serving Astral Tequila: El Jardin; Green Valley Ranch Beer Garden; Lowry Beer Garden; Slattery’s Irish Pub" - Rebecca Treon

I got a burrito which I loved. It was pretty tasty and big. I enjoyed both sours I got as well, though the New Terrain one is the better tasting one compared to guava. it was really popping for a while, once the dinner time crowd filed out it was my kind of place. The water sprayer/mister things are a great idea but the side of the table they were on was empty until more of my friend’s friends got there since they are a bit aggressive at watering, lol. All in all an enjoyable experience.

We held our monthly Veterans Beer Club meetup here last night, and it was fantastic! First of all, a lot of places either won't let you reserve tables, or they make it a hassle. They made it easy for us, the beer was good, the food was good, and the vibe is great. We'll definitely come back!

Google
Delicious food! We recommend the pretzel, Mexican bowl, and the fish and chips!! A little overpriced as they automatically add an 18% gratuity with no table service and expect you to bus your own table but still good! Good vibes if you sit outside!

Google
My new favorite place! A wonderfully converted historic fire station close to Sloans Lake. Now a great beer garden & dining spot with a terrific craft beer selection & a solid menu of American favorites. Great staff & service & holilooya! they don't ask for tips for the bar & food service counters. Worthy of 5 stars just for that relief! Thank you!

Google
Love this place! It’s only a 7 minute walk from my house. We go almost every week with our dogs. The Frozé is immaculate

Google
I absolutely love taking my dog to Edgewater beer garden! Not only are their beer selections amazing (the ratio carrot beer is a fav of mine) but their food is amazing + they have a dog friendly menu for a fun, special treat.

Google
Awesome , This building used to be a fire department and wall art is still from fire dept . Self service , walk up food and bar . great for singles , families , pets . Huge fire pits outside , roll away tarps for outdoors , tons of seating outside and inside .

Lo Wood

Google
Such a wide open space with great selection of food and beverages! They said they are dog friendly as long as the “garage hanger” doors are open. Meaning dogs can be inside during those times. They have a ton of outdoor space - lots of standing room and picnic tables with plenty of shade. We were there when an event had rented out a big patio area and there was still tons of room for regular seating. The menu is clear and easy to navigate as an allergy person. They have great salads and you can add a variety of protein to them. Awesome spot to hang out - the only major issue is parking. Definitely plan to park a few streets over and walk, or maybe bike there?

Yelp
Came here with a big group, and was pleased with our experience! The ambiance was that of a perfect summer patio, variety is the spice of life, and I love having plenty of it!! Beer, cocktails and menu of pretty much anything you want. Wings. Burgers. Fries. Poke bowls..... they got it! And it all tastes so good and fresh. You just walk right up and order what you want....they bring it out to you in a flash! Super dog friendly, I was bummed that I didn't bring my pups.... Would love to next time!

Yelp
Fun atmosphere with bingo playing, we went on a Wednesday night so I'm assuming it's a weekly event. We had a party of 8 and it was hard to hear with all the noise but there was plenty of room for our party with bench seating and regular table seating available. You order your own drinks/food at the bar and you're given a buzzer for when your food is ready. Cocktails and draft beer available. All the staff were really nice and working hard. Automatic 18% gratuity on all checks. The food was good but nothing to write home about. Fitting for the crowd/atmosphere. Definitely a hipster spot but you're in the Sloan's Lake area so expected. Nice fire pits and heated seating outside. I'd like to go back to this spot in the summer to enjoy the massive patio.

Yelp
Nice outdoor neighborhood space to enjoy a beer! They have a great happy hour and nice selection of beverages. The food looks good too, but just got beers today. I've been sleeping on this all day Monday happy hour!
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
Just came here for the first time with my dog. The happy hour menu was nice! I enjoyed the selection of food and drinks and the vibes and atmosphere are super nice! I loved the outside seating options and there were many areas with shade! The service and food is basically self serve and the food is a little pricey but it's good and typical with the scene of this being a brewery. I also love how they do an automatic 18% tip, makes it easy on the customer and helps support the workers who absolutely deserve that!
google avatar

Yelp
Great patio, and try the burrata salad with a St. Germaine Spritz. Always a fun time here with a fun atmosphere
google avatar

Elise M.

Yelp
This is such a cute, laid back spot for happy hour! And it was such a nice surprise that they have a lot of great, healthy dinner options too! Service was fast and friendly and there were plenty of seats available indoor and outdoor on a Wednesday evening.

Yelp
We went to Edgewater beer Garden on one of the nicest pre-spring days that one could ask for in Denver. Everyone was out on this day with their dogs and with their kids and most of all with their friends. We soaked up some sun on the patio and also had frozen drinks. Their frozen margaritas were wonderful shout out to the tajin rim. This is a great spot and even those packed there is so much seating so we were able to find a table.
google avatar

Janelle Z.

Yelp
Really large outdoor patio that is dog friendly, which makes it a great place for nice days. Menu is pretty large which is nice for groups, but the food is a bit pricey for what it is. We both got burgers & fries (regular & sweet potato), and fries were super overcooked for both of our tastes.
google avatar

Tiffany N.

Yelp
Solid place to visit when looking to meet up with others! I came here for a book club meeting and it was the perfect since it had food, drinks (and NA options!) along with ample indoor and outdoor seating. We were here in the dead of winter so didn't get to enjoy the outdoors but Edgewater Beer Garden is in my back pocket for the summer time! Friendly staff and gasp, private parking?? What's not to like about this place?
google avatar

Will S.

Yelp
The ambiance here is a 6/5 and the food is a 5/5. Get the bacon chicken wrap or the harissa chicken salad. The fries are awesome too! My favorite cocktail is the orange crush it's really really really good. The beers on draft are on rotation but they pick good ones and there's always a beer for everyone. Super nice place to get lunch and hangout at! We come here all the time, can you tell?
google avatar

Caroline L.

Yelp
Prompt, efficient service despite full tables (indoor and out) and a lengthy line upon arrival. This place seems to know how to deliver excellent customer service. A great spot for large groups, families with children and (weather appropriate) dogs outdoors.
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
Another solid beer garden not too far from our home. We were invited here for some friends who were in town and wanting to see as many people as they could at once. Edgewater beer garden was easily able to handle a large group without a reservation. I ordered the fish and chips and they really hit the spot. Great portion size for the price too!
google avatar

Erin W.

Yelp
Our favorite local beer garden! The food is stellar, service (especially our friends Lexie and Mary Beth) are incredible, and it's the best that its dog friendly outside! We love the rotating beer menu and food changes seasonally! Will be back here everyday.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by for a late lunch/snack. The place is very cute, laid back feel. I like that you order beer at one counter and food at another. We got a mixture of starters, the elote was creamy and tangy. The wings were sauced perfectly, and the pretzel was soft but crispy! Everything did have a little zing, so if you're sensitive to heat just know our tongues were a bit warm. The service was top notch, the gal even heated up our cookie! We will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Sheesh this place is poppin. Excellent staff, good food, and fantastic neighborhood vibe. Unbeatable on a sunny day. Little on the pricey end but worth it. Their frozen espresso martinis go nuts!
google avatar

Cristal O.

Yelp
This place was super cute and dog friendly which we loved! The drinks were delicious and we had just eaten so we didn't get to try the food but we will go back to try their food! The people here were all so nice!
google avatar

Ashley G.

Yelp
One of my go to places for a fun outdoor patio kind of day! Amazing drinks, great service, and delicious food! There's so much seating here too you always find a spot either inside or outside. They have good deals too for happy hour!
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
Great Patio! Super dog and kid friendly! Good selection of beers and their cocktails are good but a bit alcohol forward.
google avatar

Glenn G.

Yelp
Great drink combination great beers, incredible outdoors, lots of activity lots of heaters lots of room good cocktails really great mix of people, dog, friendly, etc.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a beautiful spot to have a delicious drink and enjoy a lovely day. It has a great patio and also a huge indoor area for when the weather is rough. You have to order at the bar, but it's no big deal as the bartenders are great and get drinks out fast. I can't wait to get back and try the food, because the menu looked awesome!
google avatar

Yelp
Thrilled to have finally visited Edgewater Beer Garden. Such cute vibes AND they have trivia Tuesday nights! Came here with a few friends and ordered a California Burrito from the extensive food menu. It was one of the tastier beer garden meals I've had, and I generally like that the kitchen is in-house versus a rotating food truck so you know what to expect. Ironically the main downside was the beer selection. I love when I have a hard time deciding what to order from the tap, but that WASN'T a good thing in this case. I felt like I had to pick between so-so selections. Even the bartender admitted their menu isn't the best. Would probably still come here again, at least for the food and in hopes there's at least one beer I like.

Yelp
It was a warm sunny day last week so everyone's destination was apparently Edgewater Beer Garden! We went there (with our dog in tow) on a recommendation. We parked down the street (looks like it can get a little busy) which wasn't too bad. It was a little confusing to find the true entrance as it's not on Gray St. but exactly at the corner of Gray and W 25th (there are some ropes and signs saying 'please enter through the main gate). Once inside, we realized there was a decent line to wait for drinks. Huge beer garden and essentially one bartender. Not genius. Should be multiple places to order. They do have a large menu though of beers, cocktails, wine, etc. Saw a few people with slushies. I ended up getting a pink sour (very good) and my husband got another beer. We also were hungry and wanted to grab some food, which is another window/line. Not as many people in that line. We ordered a hot pretzel + cheese and I think my husband got a brat sandwich. The pretzel was not a pretzel - I feel like a number of places we've been to in Denver are like this where it's much more like bread than the true doughy/slightly sour/yeasty pretzel flavor. Cheese sauce was good though. I didn't see the tab, but from other reviews I just read it looks like they charge a service fee which is kind of obnoxious. We'll tip, just don't tell us what to give you. They could definitely use some more bartenders or another bar space on busy, warm days, but we did enjoy our afternoon there.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a a nice place to hang out with lots of outside seating. The food was good and the lunch specials are a good deal. The beer selection could be better. There are not that many taps, a lot of ipa's and no Belgian beer. I'm not sure why Coloradans are so infatuated with ipa's. I remember the bitter beer face commercials in the 90's and they were right. Bitter beer is the wurst, as we say down in Texas, lol. Nice place. Please get some Belgian beer though.

Yelp
We've stopped into Edgewater Beer Garden a handful of times this summer. Extremely dog friendly, the patio is lovely! There are a ton of tables, all shapes and sizes, shade, sun, etc. Always fairly busy but never any issue grabbing a spot. They have a great beer selection, as expected. The cocktails are just okay. Bar is priced pretty high for what it is. Now the food - whatever that horseradishy creamy goodness on the beef sandwich, holy moly! Super fluffy bread. I've been extremely happy with their sandwiches. They have a great selection of hot sauces and killer ranch. I've also tasted the chicken salad, would recommend! Another bonus is that the food comes out very quick. Staff is super attentive & friendly. They say hi to my dog and don't let tables sit dirty. Beer in the sunshine, good food, nice peeps, what more do you really need?

Yelp
This place checks all the boxes for a chill vibe beer garden. Been here three different times and they consistently and deftly execute the whole beer garden thing, Great selection of beers, family friendly, and dog friendly. Can personally attest to the high quality of the carnita tacos, and the green chile, and I suspect the balance of menu items is of similar commendable caliber. As good as the vibe, beer and food are, what really takes this place from four star to five star is the friendly attentive and accommodating nature of the staff. I wholeheartedly recommend this place.
google avatar

Beth M.

Yelp
I ordered two froses listed at $13/piece and was charged $33.13. By my math, that's a 28% service charge. This is unacceptable and unethical at best to have a sign that says you charge an 18% service charge but then you charge 28%. I'll never be back.
google avatar

Savanna B.

Yelp
We had a fun family night with Santa last week. The wings were delicious, even the ranch tasted fresh which was great. The beers were yummy too. Thanks for hosting a family friendly activity!!
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
I love visiting Edgewater and this time was no different! We came during the playoff game and were still able to find a seat inside. They had fire pits and heaters going outside as well. I enjoyed my beer and wish I was hungry because their menu is great. I've visited for trivia nights as well and it gets crowded but is so fun!
google avatar

Yelp
Cool place to grab a bite when the sun is out! Great patio areas with plenty of tables and seating throughout the establishment. Service is quick! It is counter service ordering and everything comes out fairly quick! I went with the Cuban and I would absolutely get it again. Plenty of meat, a lot of flavor, accompanied by a very tasty bread!

Yelp
Edgewater Beer Garden is a cute little spot to hang out at in Edgewater. In the center of a cute neighborhood with other businesses around, this is a great area to visit. On nearby streets, you'll be able to find parking. I love the large amount of outdoor seating for nice days, and there's plenty of shade if it's sunny out. There's also seating outside for colder or rainy days. Inside, you'll find food (sandwiches, tacos, salads, burgers, and more), ice cream, and various drink options. They have a great selection of beers on tap and other cocktail options. I love that many of the beers were from local breweries. They seem to change the beers seasonally, and I really enjoyed the lemon beer I ordered. The bartender who helped me was very friendly and despite a semi long line for beers/drinks, I was able to get up to the bar and order quickly. This is such a great spot if you're looking for a fun patio for either a date or get-together with a group, especially in the summer. Definitely check this place out, it's so much fun!
google avatar

Holly C.

Yelp
I love this place. The food has always been delicious. Great beers on tap. Great ambiance, inside and outside. Kid friendly, but it hasn't been overrun with kids when I've visited. I like that we don't have to worry about tipping, service charge is automatically tapped on. And they gave me free drinks on my birthday!

Rachael T.

Yelp
This place is more dog friendly than child friendly. There was a dog snapping and trying to actively bite my toddlers and the staff did nothing after being notified and the dog owner told me my kids were annoying and deserved it. 100% would not recommend.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
This is a gem in Edgewater, with lots of fun food and beer options. I had the pilsner, which was light and refreshing, and grabbed some tasty tacos from the food counter. One downside: They don't have a ton of NA options outside of soda, so keep that in mind if you're not a big drinker.
google avatar

Jill B.

Yelp
Met some friends here for dinner and my girls (6&8) ate two orders of the pretzel and cheese for their meal. I ate a summer salad and had some ice cream for dessert. My husband got a sandwich and enjoyed his as well. Service was quick and we walked in and sat down right away. The summer salad was delicious and I don't like dressing so I asked for none but I hear the dressing is good too! From under 10 to over 40, all of us liked it. Try it!
google avatar

Yelp
We saw this beer garden while driving around the neighborhood a while back and we finally stopped in for some food and drink. The outside space is huge with various seating areas, covered or sunny, and there is a large inside area that opens up to the patio space. We took advantage of the $10 lunch special which included 2 tacos, fries and a soft drink. I loved the fries and the two tacos we ordered were tasty. The rajas was a veggie options, which was roasted poblanos and queso fresco. The carnitas were tender and flavorful and were topped with a fresh pico de gallo. There was also a variety of hot sauces out, so we tried them all! The fries were also perfect and fresh tasting. My wife had a frozen marg, which was perfect and I grabbed a draft beer. Good food, good drink selection and ample seating - this place is a winner! They are also dog friendly which is always a plus for us. I can't wait to go back to try some of the other food options and their HH doesn't sound bad either.
google avatar

Katie P.

Yelp
Really cute location, bright and airy, and the wings are a must-have! I love the outdoor space.
google avatar

Jonathon S.

Yelp
Easiest 5/5 I've given. Staff, beer selection, food and location make it the top spot in Edgewater
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
The patio atmosphere is great, with plenty of outdoor tables, benches, overhangs, etc. We stopped by on a sunny Saturday afternoon and it was definitely crowded, but we were still able to find a spot to sit. There is a decent beer selection (averaging around $7/pint) with many local options, as well as some cocktails. We tried a few different beers and enjoyed everything we got. I ordered chips with salsa and guac for a snack and would skip that next time; the guac was tasty but the chips were incredibly greasy and the salsa tasted like garlic marinara sauce. Can't speak to the other food, but the menu has a decent selection and there is also ice cream available. 18% service charge added to all purchases. My only other complaint is that several parties had their dogs sitting/walking on top of tables. I am all for dog-friendly spots, but prefer to think the surfaces I am eating on are clean.

Nancy P.

Yelp
Great spot , lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff ! Interesting menu with lots of great tasting items

Yelp
Bartenders decided to cut off my boyfriend after he attempted to pay for my friends beers. He accepted that and came back to his table with 2 waters where he had the last sips of his previous beer the same bartenders served him 45 minutes ago. The manager then came over and proceeded to kick us out all the while the group of bartenders were staring behind the bar covering their mouths and whispering. Photo taken shows glaring of bartender while manager went to discuss the whispering and pointing. Our group who had spent at least $500 on food and drink and was having a reunion of friends who hadn't seen each other in 10 years felt completely disrespected. Unfortunate experience and would not recommend supporting this place due to the treatment from bartenders and manager.
google avatar

Katrina S.

Yelp
Great spot to meet up with friends. It's tucked away in a neighborhood so while there isn't a ton of parking you're not by a main road or lots of traffic. Lots of space outside and inside for large groups. Some of the outdoor seating is covered which is nice. They had some fire pits as well. Bar and food are both counter style. They have a wide variety of beer and cocktails. I got a Hugo Spritz - nice and refreshing - and tried the pumpkin cider - great for fall and not too pumpkiny. I also order the burrito bowl which was good, but a little more salad than I anticipated.
google avatar

Allen C.

Yelp
The good: atmosphere is fantastic. One of the best outdoor patios on this side of town. Inside there are large glass garage doors so the interior is often open air. Nice during these times. They have larger tables for groups outside and more intimate small tables for pairs. Staff seems friendly too. Also has ample bike parking out front and in a side lot. And they have a bike repair stand!!! The ok: the food has been hit or miss in our experience. Bottom line: worth going for the atmosphere alone.

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Great place all around. Awesome well kept patio, beautiful flowers, seating, a fire pit and heaters. Bar staff is wonderful. Friendly, helpful, and quick. Great food options- a nice menu that goes beyond the typical beer garden/brewery stuff.
google avatar

Yelp
We came here for Father's Day but we're turned around because they don't accept vertical ID's. This was definitely a bummer, especially in a city that has so many people from out of state. Oh well, it is what it is, and I have encountered it before - but it's always a bummer when it happens, especially on a family holiday. I was also inspired to write this review because of the intense security a member of our party faced just to go to the restroom inside. ID check, yellow band, but no bag check. That alone was off putting especially because the space is in a neighborhood. When my Colorado ID comes, I may check this place out for a beer, as it looked like a lovely place on a sunny day. It also seems like they have a variety of drinks, rather than just beer, which is always a plus!
google avatar

Yelp
3.5 = inefficiently operated. frustrating customer experience. + nice outdoor space. + tasty hazy. + dogs. + clean restrooms. - beyond inefficient ordering system. - frustratingly long lines to get a beer. - automatically include tip. - understaffed. our group left feeling pretty bummed. we would've easily stayed for a 2nd round but there was no way we were about to waste *another* 30+ minutes waiting in line for a beer. alone. while someone stayed back to hold our table, watch our belongings. // tables NEED dedicated service for drinks. even if it were a long wait at least we'd be with our people, at our table, with our belongings. you'd force us to leave a good tip anyways, so why not have tables staffed? i'll be back if ever this gets sorted. too frustrating an experience otherwise.
google avatar

Kyle D.

Yelp
No real complaints as far as this place being a cool spot to hang out and have an adult beverage with your frands on a nice day. What does bother me about this place, however, is the fact that there are no servers and there's one bar. So when it's busy, you have to go stand in line for 15-20 mins so someone can pour you a beer, at which time you're made to pay an additional 20% fee. I'm all for tipping service industry folks when they do a good job. Don't like the fact that it's forced.

Yelp
This has quickly become a weekly favorite staple in our lives. The area is spacious, some of THE nicest people go here (we meet new friends almost weekly), well behaved kids (aka, good parents) and well behaved dogs. The staff? EVEN better! The food? FABULOUS! I am usually one who likes to try different things but I can't stop ordering their burrito bowl! The burger is one of the best in Denver as well! I love that it's not just beer but a full bar with amazing hand crafted cocktails. I'll also venture to say their froze is the best in Denver too! I didn't think I'd be a fan of an automatic 18% gratuity added but this place has it completely dialed in. You can order from the bar and the tab carries over to the food ordering area. The staff have always been super happy and pleasant and VERY attentive to any need. HIGHLY recommend!
google avatar

Katie N.

Yelp
I love this spot! The fact that they have a fantastic patio and a full bar makes this a great location for a first date or drink w friends. The food I've had here has been OK, nothing too crazy good but definitely OK for snacking on. Have tried their nachos (got soggy fast) + the CO brat (tasty). Parking can be tricky

Yelp
Very chill vibe. Perfect patio to meet with friends, bring your furry friends and indulge in some classic cocktails and snacks.
