Best Bars and Restaurants in South Lake Tahoe | Eater SF

"Floor-to-ceiling windows show off stunning views of the lake and mountains, and the meat-centric entrees, as well as the wine selection, are fantastic. Be sure to book your reservation with the timing of the sunset in mind; it will help take the sting out of your bill." - Julie Brown Davis

The food and service were outstanding, complemented by a breathtaking view of Lake Tahoe. The mussels were absolutely fabulous—an unforgettable first-time experience! You can't go wrong with the pork chop or Tomahawk steak; both are exceptional choices!

Google
outstanding service & food at the Edge. We were there for opening night but you wouldn’t have known. Impeccable service, the food was flavorful and interesting, and the drinks unique and tasty. Definitely worth a spot whether or not you are staying at Edgewood!

Google
With excellent view, it comes an excellent dinner! From the moment we walked in to the restaurant to the moment we left, the whole service was superb. The food was delicious and tasty. The cocktails were amazing, I highly recommend the espresso rub veal chops. Valet parking only and dress nice

Came here for a date night dinner. Booked the first available slot at 5pm. The place was quiet and the view out the window was beautiful. I chose the Chef and Sommelier menu for $130. It came with an appetizer, pork chop, and dessert along with two glasses of wine. My wife chose the soup of the day plus the Prime Steak Duo. Everything was tasty. Service was excellent. It was money well spent and a perfect end to a beautiful day in South Lake Tahoe.

Google
Pictures do not do it justice. The food was so delicious. The Elk loin is 10/10 a total must have. The Braised Duck risotto was great as well. The coffee and Tallow dessert was the perfect ending to the night. The best thing is the view so amazing.

Google
Edgewood Restaurant boasts a stunning location overlooking Lake Tahoe and snow-capped mountains. While the view is undeniably impressive, it's worth noting that their more casual restaurant, The Bistro, offers a similar vista in a cozier setting. If you prioritize the lake view, aim for an early dinner. You'll have a better chance of snagging a window seat, but be prepared to potentially finish your meal before the full sunset. The service was excellent. Upon arrival, the host promptly seated me, and my server followed shortly after, offering detailed explanations of the menu and recommending popular dishes. They even highlighted a three-course prix fixe option with optional wine pairings that seemed like a better value than ordering a la carte. The complimentary bread basket was a mixed bag. One bread had an olive oil drizzle that left a lingering bitter aftertaste, but the butter was delightful, with the perfect amount of salt. The first course, asparagus "bruschetta," was a bit of a letdown. The prosciutto was delicious, but the brioche dust seemed more decorative than flavorful. The asparagus and prosciutto combo wasn't quite to my taste. The second course offered a choice of elk or halibut. I opted for the elk, which was cooked well-done as recommended by the chef. While the combination of charred apple, pea purée, and tangerine demi was interesting, the overall texture was quite runny, making it difficult to eat. Finally, the dessert was the star of the show! The spring strawberry creation offered a delightful mix of textures and flavors, from gooey to crunchy and tart to sweet. Beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, it was easily the best part of the meal. I devoured it in no time, a feat considering my usual habit of leaving dessert half-eaten. My server deserves high praise for their attentiveness and friendliness. They explained each dish thoroughly and cleared my plates promptly between courses. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't quite justify the price tag. The portion size of the main course was small (though good), and the first course was underwhelming. Overall, Edgewood Restaurant offers an undeniably beautiful setting and attentive service. However, the food quality and portion sizes don't quite match the price point. If you're looking for a more casual and potentially better value option with a similar view, consider The Bistro at Edgewood. Just remember, valet parking is the only option here.

Google
Absolutely delicious meal. This is "fancy dinning" where you'll spend $100+ per person. The atmosphere is beautiful. I was there for sunset and it was beautiful. The waiter & the other servers were very attentive and made the experience personal. The experience was worth the price and I would go back.

Google
Gorgeous restaurant, amazing ambiance, we were given a private room for our larger party but I’ve gotta be objective about the food. Nothing seemed to be seasoned besides the pork chop. I was greatly underwhelmed by 99% of the food here. Our service was awesome, he definitely upsold us on apps and drinks and he did a great job. But I can’t justify the food at any price. I had the salmon and it wasn’t even salted. A buddy next to me got the expensive lobster tagliatelle and it was as bland as could be.

Yelp
Gorgeous view and beautifully presented meals. Very pricey but worth it especially for a special occasion. The chef has always done special vegan and gluten free entrees and desserts for us. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
My first impression of this place wasn't good at all. The moment I walked in I was told that my outfit was inappropriate, and that they have a dress code at this restaurant. WTF. I'm in jeans, tennis shoe and a long sleeve hoodie tee. There's other guys walking in with shorts, and tee shirts. Next comes the service, at times it seems rush and then it's slow. The food is mediocre, small portions and expensive. I don't recommend this place at all. Avoid until there's improvements

Yelp
7/22/23 Edgewood Restaurant is a definite 5 stars for the food, the service and the view. Zach made a reservation here for 7:45PM to celebrate our engagement earlier that day. The restaurant inside and out is veyy beautiful. There's a valet service which I'm not sure if it's mandatory or not, but Zach handed the valet guy the keys and we proceeded up the staircase inside. There are huge windows and an outdoor space you can walk to enjoy the view. We waited an extra 10 minutes to get a table right by the window, but it was worth the wait since the view was amazing. All of staff here are dressed very professionally and the service was truly outstanding. Aaron was our waiter that evening and he was great. Even the chairs are wonderful because they are so comfy and they support your back and shoulders. Here's what we got: - Bronzed sea scallops (to share) - French onion soup (his) - Lobster chowder (mine) - Veal chops (his) - Halibut (mine) - Fuji apple ginger sour (mine) We went all out since we were celebrating the engagement. The bread and butter they give you was phenomenal and honestly probably the best bread and butter I've ever had. They give you a variety of bread and the butter is so smooth and so creamy. We would go outside to enjoy the view and see the sunset when we were waiting for the food to come. Everything we had tasted amazing. Would definitely return!

Yelp
We had dinner here last night. The service was good, the food was just okay. We had a crab appetizer along with a beet and hamachi starter. They were okay but nothing to write home about. We opted to split the filet special and a Caesar salad. The steak was okay. It had a sweet hue to it because it had a blueberry something glaze. The salad was a joke. It was literally 6 pieces of lettuce a little dressing and anchovies. The kicker was the $45 corkage, which is fine but we bought a wine from them too. We are a custom to corkage getting waived if you buy a wine off of their list. That did not happen here. I'd probably just eat at The Bistro on property next time.

Yelp
Highly recommend it! Gorgeous view, delicious food and excellent service. We went in with our 3 year old and 4 year old. Our server was so nice and patient. We ordered a few plates to share. All of them were delicious! They divided duck risotto in half for my two kids and presented nicely. My husband ordered medium rare Elk chop. It turned out medium rare is too rare for him. They took the plate back in, cooked a little bit more and replaced it with more sides. I like how detailed they are. As upscale retardant, their price is not very expensive.

Yelp
Spectacular view and exceptional service! The hosts and servers were professional and friendly. We were served a complimentary amuse bouche that was lovely. Heirloom Tomato Brûlée was as described on the menu but somehow missed the mark for me...I think I was expecting more mozzarella. Braised Duck Risotto was delicious. Spring Squash & Lobster Chowder (very nice presentation), Lobster Agnolotti and Prime Steak Duo were very good. For dessert, the Tropical Terrine seemed more like a parfait and came with a very sour mango purée and a topping that was more granola than candied macadamias.

Yelp
Beautiful presentation in everything. Service, dishes, and scenery. Absolutely an elegant and romantic place to accompany someone with. The wine pairings blend perfectly with it's match. A place worth the price.

Yelp
My bf and I came today to celebrate my birthday. We noted on our reservation to have a table with a view next to the window but got seated at a table behind the wall where we barely see the window. So we asked the waiter to reseat us and she was able to arrange a closer spot closer to the window at a booth though not what we originally asked for. I was greeted with a Happy Birthday after the waiter asked us what was the occasion. Though I didn't received any little dessert or anything to acknowledge my birthday which I usually get for special occasion especially with reservation. I did see other tables that had birthday got something. I wasn't sure if our reservation time played any role in this (7:30 pm). We got our entrees around 8:40 P.M. and the place closes at 9 P.M. . So perhaps they might want us out to close the place in time? Oh and the foods took a while to arrived. Originally was going to give a 4 stars but I did read some reviews of people had similar experience with replies from the restaurant stating they would improve but I guess it was just to show? Hence the 3 stars. Foods were on the good side. Waiters were nice and friendly. Views were great (better if we get the window seats). Really nice if it's just a romantic dinner. Oh they also gave us an on the house little piece of pork belly with blueberries on top that was actually a good combo. Not exceedingly met my expectation for a special occasion.

Yelp
Reservations are needed and best to get them right at sunset for a gorgeous view of the lake (we can a bit later and missed it but the restaurant still has a nice ambiance) The hotel offered free valet parking and the restaurant is tucked back a bit, one of the hotel staff was kind to guide us there. The menu isn't the best at explaining all the ingredients or what to expect for each dish, but we were happy with the food we got. Our server gave some helpful insights and I went with the Lobster Chowder (enough for 1 person but 2 can share and taste) They also offered complimentary bread which was unique and tasty. The branzino and kale topped with caviar was divine!! I'll be dreaming about this meal for awhile.

Yelp
So there we were, celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary, but where should we go? We chose Edgewood and we were very happy that we did. Of course, the service was excellent at the property as many people assisted us. It started with the Concierge, Jackie making our reservation for us and I'm not sure what she did but we ended up at a fabulous table. As we arrived at our 5 PM reservation, the staff was finishing up their pre-service meeting, and we were sat promptly. Did I mention the fantastic table we got? We were in a booth very near the windows about 15 feet from the shore of Lake Tahoe. We decided on the three course prefix dinner menu with wine pairings selected by their wine team. I chose the beef tenderloin, and my wife chose the halibut, and we were both very happy with our meals. We were aware that other reviews were concerned with portion size, but our findings were much different. We thought the portions were nicely sized and very appropriate for the meal that we had. All in all, Edgewood is a very worthy restaurant to be included in any discussion of the best restaurants at Lake Tahoe. We will continue to be guests there, and this anniversary dinner won't be soon forgotten.

Yelp
The service is a 10/10. The waiters checked in on us regularly and the food arrived right on time. The place is beautiful and perfect for a romantic dinner. Beautiful view of the golf course and they have fireplaces on in the evening. The food for its price is amazing. I would definitely come back here. The scallops is the best I have ever had in my life. And the pinecone smoked elk loin is absolutely delicious.

Yelp
Ahhh Here for a winter wedding and was taken back by the beauty of the grounds. Very nice and intimate event space, professional staff. Food was delicious too. Beautiful venue for anyone planning a wedding and reception!

Yelp
Wow! It would be hard to find a better meal in a nicer location. The lobster pasta was one of the best I have had anywhere! The duck risotto was an amazing appetizer. It's definitely worth the price. Staff is so friendly and despite the high end menu and location it is not pretentious. Perfect place for a romantic night or special occasion. Located right on the lake with amazing views and a beautiful sunset.

Yelp
With excellent view, it comes an excellent dinner! From the moment we walked in to the restaurant to the moment we left, the whole service was superb. The food was delicious and tasty. The cocktails were amazing, I highly recommend the espresso rub veal chops. Valet parking only and dress nice.

Yelp
Came on a weeknight with a reservation. The restaurant was full. Staff is friendly and timely. Valet parking required outside. The menu is a good length and pricey but is expected at a restaurant on a country club site. 1. French Onion Soup - Actually good, a bit much on cheese, not too salty broth, good amount of onion and the bread was not too big 2. Lobster bisque - Good flavor as well. Not excessive on the liquor 3. Tomato mozzarella - Good presentation with smoke. The dish itself was simple and great for the summer 4. Elk loin - Not as gamey as I thought which was good. Cooked properly to a medium as you can see in my picture. Overall, expensive dinner but good to try at least once, treat yourself or for a special occasion!

Yelp
not impressed. you're paying for the location and view. I went for dinner and I was seated directly in line with the sun. Thankfully I was at a booth, so i had to move my position around the booth to not be blinded by the sun. My husband got the elk and said he had a stomach ache the following day. I'm not sure if it was due to the elk, but it was the only out of the ordinary thing he had. I had scallops. They were good, but it didn't feel worthy of its price tag. I don't think I'd go back or recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Fiona P.

Yelp
If you wanna really nice views and flavors, this is it. Service is pretty good too. I can't find a flaw about this place. The valet is complementary so make sure bringing some cash for tips, they dont take vemo or zelle.

Yelp
Where do I start....this place is simply magical! We stayed at Edgewood Resort and had such an amazing experience our first night at diner we had to come back a second time to end our Anniversary trip! The service was exceptional and the food is just amazing. If you get the chance to come during the sunset over the lake I'd highly recommend! Thanks you so much for making this trip truly unforgettable!

Yelp
This review is regarding the New Year Eve event at the EDGEWOOD RESTAURANT. Our family members attended this event last year and were so impressed we joined them to attend this year. We expected the same level of service and organization and were severely disappointed. THE NYE DINNER PARTY: -Last year this exclusive party took place entirely at Edgewood Restaurant and was $300 for dinner, open bar, dance floor, buffet, and multiple stations to interact with attendees, and DJs until midnight. -This year, it was double the price at $600/person. There was about half the attendees and far less organization. -We saw tables being set up inside the hotel lobby and asked the front desk and managers and were told that no one knew about the after dinner party details. This was outrageous!! How is the staff so uninformed about a hotel's hosted event?! -We called the concierge and were told that the after party was going to be at Edgewood Restaurant and not at the hotel lobby with the hotel stayers that didn't pay the $600. (REFER TO AFTERPARTY SECTION). -We contacted the Edgewood Restaurant about a dozen times over a month in advance to ask about Vegetarian accommodations - NO ONE was able to provide us a tasting menu for this dining experience, which is ridiculous to be paying that much to be told that the chef will just "figure it out." -The Edgewood Restaurant was tastefully decorated. Coats were checked in. We were offered appetizers. Servers were exceptionally friendly. Live classical music was being played. -There was long wait times between courses, servers said the chef was running behind despite there being less attendees compared to last year. -The meal was good, well-paired with wines but not for $600 - which is the price for which we have dined at the French Laundry (Michelin 3 star). Chef Randy's Explosion dessert was our favorite THE AFTERPARTY: -After the dinner we were told that in fact the party was going to take place in the hotel lobby!! THIS WAS INFURIATING because we were told the exact opposite by the concierge. We were piled in with hotel guests that were able to attend this weak after party for FREE! -The open bar here was limited to a few types of signature drinks and desserts. -Rowdy kids and random hotel guests were in the middle of the party tables. -The tables were small and cramped. There was no place to put our coats for this event - we were in fancy evening gowns. -The live music was not dance music, no dance floor, nothing was interactive, very few servers present here - which was horrible when you paid top dollar and came from another state to attend! -Other attendees that had been there last year also stated that this was an absolute downgrade from the NYE dinner and party last year. We will not be coming back. Not to this very poorly run hotel or restaurant.

Yelp
The best Halibut (special menu item) I have ever had! PLEASE put this on your menu as a permanent item I beg of you. It would be worth the 9 hour drive just to come back to have it again! Pan Seared Branzino was delicious as well! Both are the best fish I have ever had! French Onion Soup had the perfect amount of bread and onion. I ate the whole thing! Only sad thing that was missed was that it was our anniversary on 8/8 and it wasn't told to the server (I am assuming). The hosts were very nice and gave us the best seating for our reservation we were so thankful. Absolutely stunning restaurant and view.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on 12/19 while we were visiting South Lake Tahoe. This is located close to the golf course but is upscale/fine dining. We made reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival. It would've been great if we were asked if we wanted a booth. We were seated on one of the regular tables. It is set up that the booths are slightly elevated and faces those on regular tables so it feels like they are watching us. I ordered the lamb which was cooked as requested (medium rare) and was flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the elk loin and this was not cooked as requested - he ordered it medium and it came rare to medium rare. We asked that it be cooked more and since it took a while and it came back when k was already done with my entree, they took it off the bill. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu and attentive. We will probably return to this place and give it another try - I will make sure we request for a booth and come as soon as they open at 5pm in order to see the view of the lake. We took a rideshare going here and could not get a rideshare after dinner so we ended up getting a cab. It' may be more convenient if we had a car and drove to this place but I am not sure where one would park. I saw a valet booth but don't remember seeing a valet person.

Yelp
We have been to Edgewood Restaurant three times. The first time, the entire experience was a delight. The food and the service were both great. The second time, the service was good, but the food was overcooked and we had to ask for a substitute. The third time, the food and the service were totally unacceptable. The server was busy and inattentive and the food was poor in quality and quantity. At this rate of monotonic decline, there will not be a fourth visit. Too bad, it is a good location and has good opportunity.

Yelp
I celebrated my Birthday here and the experience was FANTASTIC!!! They now have allergen labels on the menu. The hostess Elena was kind, and welcoming, she also went out of her way to take our photos. Our server Bill gave us excellent customer service, he was very attentive, and helped with our food allergies (Gluten, Dairy and Soy). My Husband, Son and I truly enjoyed our dinner, it was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Chef Matthew went out of his to make sure that we forgot that we had food allergies. The ambiance was lovely as well. They treated me like a Queen on my big Birthday.

Yelp
Good food. The oxtail risotto was delicious, but the portion size was pretty small. Also enjoyed the mushroom and sausage flatbread. Meal was pretty expensive, but it made sense for the location and elegance of the restaurant. Would come back again.
google avatar

Amanda N.

Yelp
Went here to celebrate my anniversary. I give it a 10/10 for ambience. It felt romantic right by the lake. Our server was helpful. I give it 4 stars because our food came out a little cold, but we don't like to complain unless it bothers us. The veal chop was okay, but everything else I say was pretty good from the bread to the dessert. Loved how they did a presentation for us, so 10/10! Overall, highly recommend it. Maybe we just weren't as lucky that night.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
This place is spectacular, love the architecture, I've never seen a place like this!! We got the booth table facing the lake, I wish I could see the sunset would have been amazing but still a beautiful view! We ordered cocktails to start with, both drinks were really good, our server made the drinks and he used to be a chef here so he knew the menu very well, so he was making a recommendation. Everything was fantastic, and I'd love to come back here!
google avatar

Toma T.

Yelp
Loved everything about our dinner at the Edgewood restaurant last night! We were greeted by an amazing hostess and were seated in a booth with the most beautiful lake view ever. My husband mentioned that the view of Lake Tahoe looks identical Lake Como in Italy. Our waiter Tyler was amazing - knowledgeable, attentive and very friendly. Between my husband and I, we had: octopus and yellowtail ceviche, grilled eggplant, and espresso chocolate cake. Every dish was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The entire dining experience was amazing.
google avatar

Maria C.

Yelp
The views at this restaurant are unbeatable. Service was excellent - shout-out to our server Yvonne who was wonderful. The food is overpriced and portions are small. You're really paying for the experience. I'm glad we went, but wouldn't go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Sorry to say that this restaurant just isn't as good as some people said it was--it certainly isn't Fine Dining. Our table cloth had a rip in it, they did not ask about allergies, they didn't clean the crumbs of the table as we ate, they only had one fork on the table, etc. I enjoy Fine Dining and I went there for my 23rd Anniversary. Yes, the view is spectacular but for me, it didn't make up for their high prices without the ambiance. The valet, lost--or misplaced, our EV car key which had us standing out the cold for about 20 minutes. I finally just walked over to my car and sat inside while my husband dealt with the valet. If you have a Polestar EV, they have no idea what it is. An evening I'm going to forget about. Clearly, we will not return.
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
Our experience here was 10 ! We had a perfect table, with a beautiful view looking outside from the windows. The staff graciously took pictures for us for our eight year anniversary. The food was incredible. The drinks were made perfectly. It all was an absolutely perfect night, great ambience, privacy at your table, and no rush for you to finish up your meal and leave. Really enjoyed our dinner here!
google avatar

Cody A.

Yelp
We've eaten here in prior years and we're disappointed this visit. The tablecloth had holes, fire pits were not on, long waits in between services, smaller portions and higher prices.

Yelp
Scenic spot with upscale, well-plated food. I spent a good bit of time researching places to host dinner after my elopement ceremony, Friday July 15, for 6 people. This spot seemed to be highly reviewed as the fancy occasion spot in the South Lake Tahoe area. The staff was welcoming and very accommodating. Our group enjoyed our time here. The food was just alright in my opinion. I had lamb, it was overcooked and I just was not impressed - but I am a rather spoiled food enthusiast. For the price and stature of this fancy resort restaurant, I wanted to be wowed and just wasn't. The best part is the outdoor terrace, with the fire installation. Great place for enjoying your pre dinner drink and for taking photos. Bit of background for those really into the details: Getting a reservation proved to be difficult. Fair warning- while you may be able to make a reservation on OpenTable, the staff that answers the phone there says that reservations are prioritized for guests. Talked to the staff multiple times over the phone in the months leading up to my date and could not get a straight answer if our table for 6 was confirmed. This made me anxious & confused. We however did hear from the staff and were able to confirm our reservation the day beforehand. My confusion did not stop there. I thought this was a upscale resort, but the other diners at 8pm on this Friday were wearing casual clothes, hats, t-shirts, shorts. And there were plenty of kids present and crawling around. All fine by us, just didn't add up to the fancy restaurant expectation.

Damanjit S.

Yelp
Short Story: Food is okay, but the service is absolutely terrible. Long Story: This is the second time I've experienced poor service at this restaurant. The first time was in 2023, and I gave them direct feedback, hoping they'd improve. Unfortunately, they haven't, and now I'm having to leave this review. We sat down, and our server showed up really late, saying she was "busy with a party of 14." This restaurant is always fully booked, so how can one large party disrupt everything? They don't allow walk-ins, especially not for groups that size. Shouldn't they be better prepared? We placed our entire order at once to make things easier since she said she was busy. Some of the food came, but some didn't, and the server never returned to check on us. She walked by multiple times but didn't even look our way. After 20 minutes, we flagged a food runner to ask about the rest of the order. Still, nothing. My meal sat in front of me for over 30 minutes, getting cold, while my wife waited for hers. It wasn't until we flagged down a manager that anything was done. He got the rest of the food out quickly and comped the bill, but there was no explanation or acknowledgment of why this happened in the first place. It's baffling how a restaurant that's always fully reserved can't manage basic service. This level of disregard for customers is unacceptable, I love the hotel, but will not be back because of this restaurant.

Yelp
Honestly I had very high hopes for this place. Don't get me wrong the place is GORGEOUS but the food was mediocre. We ordered the prime steak duo medium well which was exactly as asked, medium well. It lacked seasoning but at least the Chimichurri Emulsion / Roasted Pepper Sherry Coulis gave it some type of "pizzaz"

Yelp
The Edgewood Restaurant is elegance defined. Resting on the shores of South Lake Tahoe on a small jetty, the location and general ambiance of the interior provide a top-rate dining experience for any would be foodie. The food is really well prepared and thoughtfully presented. The kitchen even did a little creative plating to get a dish our 12 year old would enjoy. The service is outstanding - with a true table-service focus, as the restaurant utilizes the team approach to dining service. Our table captain was awesome - kind, knowledgeable and attentive. Perhaps what we all liked the most was desert. Absolutely knock-your-socks outstanding deserts. The best lemon gelato I have ever had! Add to the desert, we paired our final course with a flight of 10, 20, 30, and 40 year old ports. Spectacular! Do you and your group a favor - if you find yourselves in South Lake Tahoe. . . go to the Edgewood.

Yelp
Service here was excellent same with the views . I highly recommend going here if you want a very elegant experience, perfect for a really nice date. Food was very good here and their wine selection is well chosen. We ordered the scallops as an appetizer and the lobster bisque . I would say there entrees are where they shine . The rack of lamb was excellent and the troupe fish was amazing.

Yelp
Such a beautiful place to be able to enjoy with family and friends. I had gotten the cheeseburger and surprisingly it was really delicious. It wasn't dry. The bun was soft and buttery and the fries were at the right crisp. My son got the steak and eggs and he ate it all. My husband had gotten the French dip and he found it ok. Nothing special. The location is on a private lot, but while you get to enjoy the food you get to enjoy such a beautiful view. The staff members were attentive and friendly. Thank you for such a great experience.

Yelp
3.5 stars rounded up to 4 What drew me to Edgewood Restaurant were definitely the views of Lake Tahoe! My boyfriend and I were staying at Edgewood Resort so the restaurant was only a short walk from the lobby/great room. I easily made a reservation through OpenTable and requested a window table, but we were seated at a booth facing the window instead, which was also fine but it sometimes felt like we were watching other tables in front of us eat. However, we had reservations at 6:30pm which was the perfect time to enjoy dinner and watch the sunset. For our appetizers we went with the scallops, foie gras, and a French onion soup. The scallops were huge and very delicious, as was the foie gras paired with pate, pears, and beet. The soup was kind of small, but hit the spot. For our mains, we ordered the duck breast and the filet mignon to share. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly at medium rare (as requested). The duck breast was okay, not as tender as we hoped. I had booked this reservation noting that we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. However, to my disappointment they did not offer any complimentary desserts for special occasions. When we declined to order desserts, our waiter said "Really? Not even for his birthday?" and we nodded because we really were too stuffed for a full dessert course. I would've appreciated something even as small as a chocolate or a cookie (as stated by other reviewers in the past) just to acknowledge that we were celebrating a birthday - like almost all other $$$/$$$$ restaurants we've been to have done. Pretty disappointing and just something to note if you come here to celebrate something/someone!

Yelp
One of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been to. The view is incredible from any seat, service was top notch. Ordered the French onion soup and branzino. Both were excellent. Best fish I've ever had in my life! Thanks for a great dinner!

Yelp
I mean; i wont have pictures because the service and every single plate was so perfect we devoured it right away; we got Served by Alicia which was a total sweetheart; if you been out in the last year or two you will notice how most places have gone down hill but not this place! not a notch; food, service, drinks, view, ambiance everything create the mood for the perfect experience. If you are in Tahoe and looking for a top notch experience, this is the place. Aloha

Yelp
We have been to Tahoe several times but had not been to Edgewood. Our server, LT was OUTSTANDING! She walked us through the menu and made recommendations that were incredible. From the crab appetizer to the tomato salad, entrees that were homemade pasta and lamb chops everything was perfect. And the view of Lake Tahoe is amazing! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
2/11/2024 my original review was 8 years ago and I thought I'd better write another review. This restaurant still deserves 5 stars. The food is delicious and the service is impeccable. The view is amazing (schedule reservations around sunset). This is a place for a special date night or special occasion. Tonight i ordered the soup of the day which was potato leek and my husband ordered the Caesar salad. Main course was the branzino and the turbot. We also had the golden delicious dessert which meticulous and detailed to look like an apple. Shout out to Edward; he was attentive and offered great suggestions. We'll be back

Yelp
Attentive service. Beautiful ambiance, especially views of the lake from the large windows. Filet, lamb, foi gras and scallops were all hits. Good drink options. Portion for pistachio crusted lamb could have been larger- it was just 2 small pieces.

Yelp
Update on my last review of a year ago. Everything still excellent and remains the premier dining experience in the South Shore and, along with Christy Hill on the North Shore, one of the top dining destinations for an upscale meal in all of Lake Tahoe. While there are several other really good restaurants up at the lake, those two are the closest thing to elegant dinning in Lake Tahoe, since Le Petit Pierre and Le Cheminee on the North Shore (sp?) have long since closed. The only slight deduct, a quarter point since it's Olympics season, is that the space could do with a makeover ( it's just to dated for the dinning experience) but that was offset by our table by the window. Booths are even more desirable, at least for a party if 2-3. As in all my prior experiences, everything else was excellent. Watermelon gazpacho and the Hamachi starters were all excellent, as was the rabbit on the bone, veal chop and lobster Tagliatelle. The Cocktails were fabulous ( Apple sour , South of North and an Aperol Spritz). Although a brought my own bottle of wine ( a 2011 Kistler Pinot), I did peruse the wine list a d would give it a B+. Good selection of Calif Pinot and cab, but they used to have some nice white burgundies on the list) and a few nice Italian reds that I did not see this time. I assume the more narrow selection just reflects the predominant taste of their customers. Dereck our server deserves a real shout out as he was just outstanding!! Really helped make the night enjoyable and relaxing.

Yelp
We have eaten at Edgewood several times in the past. Last year it was so good we thought about it months later. This past week, though, we had a really bad experience and so did the couple next to us. We ordered the duck risotto to start and the rice was severely undercooked. Not even al dente...it was hard. Probably had another ten minutes to go. We sent it back. The next appetizer we had was the scallops. They were only seared on one side and the other side was still raw. I understand that this is a technique, but coming from someone who cooks scallops at home all the time we just couldn't understand why both sides weren't seared. We sent these back and were so grossed out we decided to leave right then and there. Later, we saw the manager talking to a couple near us about their experience. We heard them also talking about the risotto being hard. Earlier, we were wondering why she had been staring at us, but we then realized it was because she was pissed and was watching our reactions to our food and discussions with our (same) waiter! The staff were very nice and these mishaps were not their fault. And perhaps this was an exception and not the norm, but we were really disappointed in our recent experience. What we are left wondering is what happened/changed? Did they have a new chef, kitchen, etc.? We do hope these things are addressed so we may give them another try someday...

Yelp
So bad, I never go to this restaurant any more. The first little meat was so salty it like put like a ton of salt in that little stupid meat and the salad was taste very bad it like a million lemon in the salad the tomato thing I can't even describe it and the steak was so small. The service is very nice to us so this is the reason why I give this restaurant one star. The restaurant was totally very clean so this is the other reason I give this restaurant one star. Last I think that the most important things is that make the food more better.

Yelp
First off what a horrible experience. I was there for my friendly bachelorette weekend. Our host Fredrick that greeted us at the beginning was so very passive aggressive and rude as he was seating us. He couldn't accommodate our party to sit together and said yes you are together but when we got to our table they were side by side so our party was not fully together. It just wasn't a good experience . Thank god for our waiter that turned our experience around. He was well versed on customer service and the menu. I will not be returning for any sort of meal at the restaurant.

Yelp
I was deeply impressed with the friendly and attentive service. Right from the beginning they acknowledged what we were celebrating and it felt like a nice touch as many restaurants tend to ask but none due anything with the information. When you walked in much like the hotel you get hit with the large scale windows facing the lake. I'd suggest earlier dinner so you can watch the sunset; however during the winter months this is a little harder. But the grand windows make it seem like you are dining in a great hall. The food was absolutely delicious, artful, proportional and in fact they accommodated some minor request we had. I would give this restaurant 5 stars except for one small detail in which they really dropped the ball which is with desserts. Now, I have patronage this place twice and both times I have been deeply disappointed with the desserts. The main thing is that it does not match the quality of the rest of the food. I am not sure what exactly the names of the dessert we had were(pictures attached) but both were dried, hard, almost frozen (the chocolate expresso) and had a mismatch of flavors. Probably the worst desserts I have had from this type of dining experience maybe ever. Other than that this place is almost a five star yelp dining experience!
