Gunshow’s Kevin Gillespie Opening Beltline Cocktail Bar and Beer Garden | Eater Atlanta

"The entire complex, called Edge, is a 28,000-square-foot retail development in the Old Fourth Ward between Edgewood and Dekalb Avenues that will house Cold Beer, Hazel Jane’s and Shake Shack alongside other tenants, and also includes 350 apartments from North American Properties; the development is slated to open in mid-2019 and still has space available for four more tenants, including another restaurant." - Beth McKibben

🗣️ "I Have a Dream" (The Plaza Version) My friends, I stand before you today to speak of a profound dream that is deeply rooted in the heart of our community. > I have a dream. It is a dream that echoes with the promise of a better life, a much-needed reprieve from the ceaseless march of daily routine and weariness. I have a dream that one day, in this very plaza—which now stands as the central pulse of our neighborhood—we shall erect a temple of health and wellness. I have a dream that we will witness the dedication of a first-rate gymnasium, a facility inspired by the excellence of "La Fitness ," and that this space shall not be a mere building, but a true oasis of opportunity. And within that oasis, I have a dream that there will be a glistening, clear swimming pool, serving not only as a body of water, but as a beacon of hope for the young and the old alike. I have a dream that this pool will be instilled with a spirit of excellence, and that in it there will be more and better swimming equipment, so that our youth may cultivate their talents and our adults may find serenity in every stroke. This is my dream: That in that facility, we may forge bonds of friendship, strengthen our bodies, and for a precious time, forget the grinding routine that weighs upon us. That we may, in that place, rediscover the pure joy of movement and fellowship. When this comes to pass, when we allow this dream to materialize in our plaza, then we shall be able to declare that we have spent a truly good time, a time dedicated to the health of our bodies and the peace of our minds. Let this dream become a reality!

Awful customers service. employees don't know about the store or the items, even if they have their lowes smart phone. managers seem to be unavailable. overall I recommend just going to home depot then trying to shop there

Google
This was my first time at this shopping center. It's a great place to shop around or just get your steps in. But I'm sure you will not leave empty handed. 😅 It has great stores like Ross, Marshalls, Burlington, and Target. Just to name a few. I saw a few restaurants there but didn't get a chance to eat anywhere. But sure will come back to try one. Im sure you will find what you looking for at this plaza.

It was a nice day, not to busy everyone was very friendly. I shopped in Lowes 1st everyone there was very knowledgeable & helpful 😊1st time there & i will be back. Then I just enjoyed some of the other stores as i walked around & enjoyed the sunshine. 🌞 There was a police present 🚓 chilling in the parking lot which is nice to see.👀 Since there are a lot of stores & traffic in the area. I found everything I needed as i walked around & enjoyed my day.😎 The weather was perfect, very enjoyable & relaxing day! CH. 🙏🏾🥰😎🌞

Google
Very cramped and overcrowded parking areas with confusing right of way traffic. Lots of popular stores and restaurants. Security cameras are present but officers are not easily found.

Google
Nice area and variety of shops. Go early traffic can be really bad in this area no matter when you go especially the weekends or afternoons. Nice selections of clothes, shoes, home decor and restaurant options close to the highway and the city.

Google
Very nice. I'm from Atlanta, Ben hill Greenbriar area. I love to drive to areas to see how they have changed and this Edgewood area continues to grow. I'm waiting on flying cars to ease the traffic or just beam up to the enterprise and let star fleet beam us to whereever we want to go. Wish full thinking!😊

Perfect Shopping Destination for Our Daughter’s Study Abroad & Internship Needs! The Edgewood Retail District was the perfect place to get everything our daughter needed for her upcoming study abroad trip and internship. We loved how convenient and easy it was to walk to stores like Marshall’s, Burlington, and Ross, all in one location. It’s a one-stop shop for everything from clothing to accessories, and we found everything on our list without the hassle of driving to multiple places. The shopping experience was not only seamless but also safe and secure. The parking lot had a visible security presence, which gave us peace of mind while shopping. The district felt like a friendly, welcoming environment with plenty of options, and we were able to get everything our daughter needed in no time. Overall, Edgewood Retail District made the whole process stress-free and enjoyable, and we will definitely be back! A great location, a variety of stores, and a safe environment make it a top choice for shopping.

Yelp
This place caused quit a controversy when it was proposed, particularly from neighborhood associations and a church adjoining the property. And I was prepared to join in on the protesting based on the developer's less-than-stellar reputation. However ... I think the shopping center has worked out quite well for everyone involved. Most everyone, anyway. Great selection of stores, the traffic to and from doesn't disrupt the local streets too much (they close off the entrance/exit by the church on Sunday mornings) and the parking is, well, not the worst. Helps if you make use of the entrance behind Lowe's and Target. Lowe's, Target, Kroger, Barnes & Noble, UPS, Five Guys, Best Buy: all places I shop. Major downside is some criminal activity that occurred in the below-ground parking structure recently. Hopefully, Atlanta's finest (who maintain a presence) and contract security have that in hand now.

Yelp
The Edgewood Retail District is a big shopping center located just south of Little Five Points in eclectic Edgewood. It's the only large-scale shopping center of its type in the neighborhood and unlike almost any other development in the surrounding area because it's so suburban-like. The development opened in 2005, the same year as Atlantic Station in Midtown, around the peak of the last construction boom. About a decade old now, this shopping center is still in good shape. It's relatively nice and clean. There are multiple buildings, all made of brick, and plenty of parking including an underground garage. On weekends, it gets slammed, especially around Target. During peak periods, traffic on Moreland entering and exiting the property can test one's patience. Alternate routes include taking Caroline St. or even Hardee St. at the far south end of the district. Major tenants here include the aforementioned Target, Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, Office Depot, Best Buy, Lowe's, Kroger, and Ross. Several local/regional restaurant chains include American Deli, Figo, Willy's, Five Guys, Ru San's, Shane's Rib Shack, and Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint. Most of the retail and dining options feel run-of-the-mill and generic, though there are a few highlights. They include the beehive, which is a boutique store filled with local, handmade items (apparel, accessories, housewares, jewelry, etc.) and Morelli's Gourmet Ice Cream (2nd location). I prefer the Morelli's in Edgewood over the original Morelli's nearby in Ormewood Park because it has the same great ice cream except indoors with more seating and air conditioning. While sprawling, the shopping center is very walkable with wide, evenly paved sidewalks. It's within 10 to 15-minute walking distances of two MARTA rail stations: the Inman Park-Reynoldstown station and the Edgewood-Candler Park station. Edgewood Retail District is a very practical/functional shopping center. It'd be nice to see more variety and uniqueness when it comes to tenants (less chains), especially considering this development is intown. However overall, it is A-OK. My only gripe with this shopping center, and it's a major one, is the lack of safety. That's the main reason for my two-star rating. In the last year or two, there have been brazen, violent crimes committed in the parking lot and in the parking garage. The physical assaults and/or robberies have occurred both at night and in broad daylight. The property owners/management need to do a much better job with the security around here.

Yelp
In 2005 the Edgewood Retail District arrived. This mix used shopping center has condos, apartments, single family homes, restaurants, a grocery store and plenty of other specialty stores. Essentially the shopping district is set up like a mini city; you park your car and walk from shop to shop. Target, Lowe's, Barnes & Noble, Ross, Sprint, The Vitamin Shoppe, Office Depot, Petco and Best Buy are major retailers in the complex. Restaurants include Figo Pasta, Shane's Rib Shack, Ru San's, Caribou Coffee, American Deli and Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries, etc. There are also contemporary furniture stores, beauty salons, banks, shoe stores, banks and other retail outlets on the premises. Located on Caroline Street and Moreland Avenue, just a few blocks away from Little Five Points, the Edgewood Retail District is perfect for neighborhood shopping. The entire area is under redevelopment and new shops and residences will be introduced in the near future. For more information go to www.atlanta-midtown.com/business/edgewood_retail_district.

Yelp
Since I've moved to this side of town earlier this month, this area is becoming a regular weekend stop for me. I always drop by the WACHOVIA ATM and hit up my savings account for some spending cash...then I head over to LOWES for ....(well not really for anything, just to walk around for home improvement ideas) Then I head over to PETCO for treats for my furry son (my dog), Then I go to that awesome (yet expensive)shoe store..(don't know the name of it though). After getting some new shoes I head over to ROSS for a nifty outfit from the clearance rack to go with the new shoes. After ROSS, I hit up TARGET for what ever random stuff I need. There has also been many visits to the UPS STORE to ship things to my son and nephew, BARNES & NOBLE to browse books and magazines, FIVE GUYS for a hella good burger, BED BATH and BEYOND for a satin sheet set (on sale for $19.99), RuSan's for my all you can eat sushi, and of course KROGER'S for groceries. SIDE NOTE to all u crazy people driving aimlessly near the TARGET parking lot fighting for parking spots...there is underground parking with an elevator that puts you right at Target's front door that no one seems to know (or care) about. Avoid the parking drama if u are going to TARGET, and head straight for the underground parking.

Yelp
Is it super convenient for me? Heck yes. Do I die a little bit every time I know I have to go there for something on the evenings and weekends and need my car? Again, heck yes. I love that they've got everything so I can get my chain shopping on at Target but still support independent boutiques like Beehive. I love that the storefronts are all oriented toward the sidewallk rather than the parking lot. But gah, the layout of this place is hell if you're driving, and the big box stores are too far apart and huge to really be conducive to walking. When I walk, I find myself popping in and out of the little boutiques, wandering Barnes and Noble, and grabbing food at Willy's or Five Guys (independent food would be stellar as well, take note). But if I'm going to Target or Kroger and have to drive, well, I tend to just make one stop and head home because parking is an absolute nightmare unless it's 10am on a Tuesday.

Yelp
Before the Edgewood Retail District was built, the space served as nothing for and to the community and, yet, amazingly people protested the development despite the value it has added to the community as a whole. Sorry, but I do not want to drive to either Buckhead or North Druid Hills to the closest Target nor do I want to drive to the Kroger on North Ave. for my groceries. And, yes, I love Intown and I love preserving the integrity of our neighborhoods, but I also love convenience and the value and practicality. Thus, I am a huge fun of Edgewood Retail. I walk over here weekly and go to Lowe's, Target, and Kroger religously. I take my dogs to Petco, I stop by Ross to browse, and I occasionally stop by Barnes and Nobles and Bed, Bath, & Beyond as well. And I bank at Wachovia and get my flyers laminated at Office Depot. Heck, sometimes I even go to Sole shoe store and pretend I can afford to buy some hot heels. The location is brilliant as there is very little grocery and retail around these neighborhoods. It has also encouraged real estate development around the area, which is also a plus (despite the fact that most of it is overpriced and poorly plan, but better than abandoned housing). Yes, they could have developed the center better--not conducive for walking and people have forgotten that you can park underground and why the heck anyone would buy a townhouse with Kroger's dumpster as their backyard is beyond me. I do wish also that the food was better--instead of Rusan's or Figo, can we have a better restaurant with a fun bar? And can we have a gym instead of a mattress store? But overall, I love the fact that I can go here and get all my errands finished in an hour and I love that I am spared from having to drive to Midtown or Buckhead. If I only had to use Moreland, Ponce, and Memorial as my three main roads, I would be a happy camper.

Yelp
Big box development in urban settings has to be done VERY carefully. At the end of the day, Edgewood has SOME aspects of The New Urbanism, but is still a typical Sembler development (like Ponce Home Depot). Check out these sites for how to do better development and demand these features through your City Council Member and NPU: http://cnu.org/intro_powerpoint and www.greenstreetproperties.com (homeboy Charles Brewer!). I strongly believe that mixed-use development can be done better than what we have at Edgewood. I admittedly find myself at this area almost every day, but it could be a more pleasurable experience. I have to ask these questions: 1) If this was designed to be more walkable, why do I still feel compelled to get in my car and drive across the parking lot, say, if I start at Best Buy and then need to go to Target or Kroger? I know it isn't distance! It's bad design! The parking lots are for cars only...not pedestrian traffic--and that's a mistake. 2) Why aren't the shopping buggies standardized? People use them for multiple stores, but the parking corrals for one store doesn't work with another. Anyway, Edgewood is okay. Not great...just okay. Beware, Atlanta...we could soon be overrun with thoughtless design. It is possible to have these stores, but we have to be more deliberate in design requirements or we could import Gwinnett's and North Fulton's sense of placelessness right into the heart of our city.

Yelp
Attention Stalkers, Debt Collectors, Fans, Stans, Autograph Seekers, Admirers (secret and non-secret), and anyone else lookin' for me- you can probably find me here, and if I'm not here, just wait- I'll be here. This is my heaven-on-Earth! Well. Except for that hellacious thing called a parking lot. Geesh. What a mess. A really, really, BAD mess. Anyhoo... This place is a wonderland terrific, it makes me go lalalalalalalalalallala.....it has an everything you can think of. Target, Best Buy, Ross, the BEST Kroger in Atlanta (!!), Shane's BBQ, Lowe's, an ice cream shop, Petco, a barbershop, a Bed Bath and Beyond, an Office Depot, a UPS Store, RuSans (sushi), FIGO Pasta, Willy's Mexican, a few banks, a Barnes & Noble, a dentist, and countless other shops and places to take your hard earned money. It's clean, it's safe, and it's nice. It's an urban utopian paradise. Love it here!

Yelp
OH Edgewood.... I just don't now how I can give this review an honest attempt without ripping the construction flaws that went into this massive failure of a parking lot. I'm not a foreman or anything, but there are stop signs where they shouldn't be, and no stop signs where they are definitely lacking. There are windy roads that lead to congestion and way too many cars, people, crosswalks, and stores. Yeah, I said... STORES. It IS possible to have too many stores in one location. On one hand, it's AWESOME!!! I can get my some lunch at Figo, Five Guys, Subway, or Shane's. I can shop for my house, inside or out... Lowe's, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond. When hungry for later I stop by Kroger to shop or swing into the super part of Target. When thinking about my pup I may stop into Petco for some treats. Finally when in need of some electronics I stop by Best Buy, but may check out Game Stop to compare prices. Of course I'm also a sprint customer and recently bought my phone from the retail store that's here too. On the way out I'll pick up an ice cream cone at Morelli's to eat in the care on the ride home. EVERYTHING is here!!! This is why it gets three stars. Horrible experience to get to what's good inside. Some good some bad lands me right in the middle. Also, don't think about coming here on the weekends unless you want to join every other person that lives within 3 miles of the area.
google avatar

Blake B.

Yelp
Oh, come now. Not within walking distance? Are you a toddler? I mean sure, the Best Buy is a bit of a stroll from Lowe's, but exercise is good for you. I'm not sure how close together they're supposed to put these conglomerates but for the most part this area is built for shopping. I like Target. I like Kroger. I like Figo and Barnes and Noble. They're all right here. Yeah, the Kroger gets packed but there's not really another 24-hour grocery in the area unless you count the Murder Kroger on Ponce, which I don't. This installation is good for Atlanta, even acknowledging its all chains. We needed a new grocery and now we have it. We needed a little bit of corruption. I'm kind of confused about the loft homes installed here as I'm not sure who'd buy a home in a shopping center, but I guess some people are into that? I'm not hating on people who hate on corporations, or walking, but I think Edgewood overall is a happy addition.

Yelp
This was actually the first shopping area I went to in Atlanta some 5 years ago- though it was nowhere near my hood. Now I live in the area and visit more frequently. I have done alot here- have visited almost all the major big box/chain stores (Target, Ross, Bed Bath & Beyond, Barnes & Nobles, Best Buy, Lowe's, Kroger, and Office Depot). It is quite a useful mix, addressing various needs that consumers have at a reasonable price point. I have also gotten food and had my taxes done in the shopping center. It does get quite busy, especially on the weekend. It can take some time to find parking on the main surface lot, but I don't want to park underground. And it is not recommended for safety reasons. There has been some crime in the shopping center. Granted that has not been limited to underground, but I hear the lighting is poor down there.
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
The "District" was a good idea, was executed poorly, but is still valuable to the community. I'm all for New Urbanism and intown living. Hell, I even have a degree in architecture and minored in city planning but I still don't understand the design of this place. There are sidewalks that lead to nowhere, signage in the middle of some sidewalks that are not ADA friendly, main thoroughfares that become congested due to design, and a limited number of entrances/exits that also become congested. Perhaps the design team got beaten down during design review by the Big Box Retailers as they usually insist on such design for their stores. BB Retailers like the limited entrances for security reasons and lack of sidewalks because they usually make the parking lots so vast there is no need for them. That still does not explain the signage interfering with wheelchair accessibility or the congestion within the District itself though, so some blame is deserved there as well. Given that, this development was an improvement to the neighborhood in my point of view.
google avatar

Kristin B.

Yelp
I love you, then I hate you, then I love you. The parking is aneurysm inducing, and my hatred for the Kroger here is already well documented (http://www.yelp.com/biz/kroger-atlanta-28#hrid:PIuEzWbkNcEMB2PbPMoprQ), but I have to admit the Edgewood Retail District is just so darn convenient. The Target has a little bit of everything, I can never leave the Ross empty handed, the Lowe's has saved my butt more than a handful of times, and I love browsing in the Barnes & Noble. The restaurants might all be chains, but they're the chains I love: Willy's, Figo, and yes, even Ru Sans. My only insider tip for this place is to turn in on Hardee Street and come in the back entrance by the Target. They gate it during certain times, but when it's open it will save you a lot of hassle trying to make a left hand turn out of the parking lot onto Moreland.
google avatar

Duane M.

Yelp
I love how convenient this is to my house. When we first moved to the EAV, we were like, "damn, we gotta drive like forever to get to Target". Well, not any more!!! Some tips: Park underneath Target. No one parks under there, and you can park like feet from the building. Don't go to Kroger on the weekends unless you really want to wait; it is almost like they are giving things away for free, at least, that is all I can think to explain the amount of people that crowd into that place. The Best Buy is a smaller store, so it doesn't have everything most BB's have. That being said, it is still convenient. I am very disappointed with the eating establishments here. Specifically, I was very excited when Figo finally opened, only to have two awful experiences... I guess we will keep going to the one in Decatur. Area is awesome. Nuff said.

Yelp
Do I want Kroger Starbucks, Target Starbucks, Barnes and Noble Starbucks, or Caribou? Is this a haven for insomniacs or a shopping center? Anyway, I'm going to forget the debate over big box stores versus small merchants (would end up being a long and boring dissertation) and simply focus on the positive and negative aspects of this retail hub. The ultra condensed shopping experience means you can get a lot of browsing and buying done in one location, ostensibly walking from store to store. Not that I've seen much of that, most people drive from section to section of the parking lot. It's actually quite depressing when you see people drive fifty yards and get out of their cars rather than walk...but I digress. This shopping area is ridiculously busy most of the time. It's understandable, since it's drawing customers from L5P, EAV, Candler Park, Castleberry Hill, etc etc. Seems like every time I go to the grocery store now I see friends from all over the area who are glad they don't have to drive OTP for these stores. The underground parking is rarely utilized, I highly recommend it on the weekends rather than circling the lot mindlessly like a vulture. Conclusion: a mixed blessing. Lots of cheap shopping, really effin' crowded, aesthetically as pleasing as a cardboard shanty, lots of coffee. Whoo!

Yelp
I have been a frequest shopper at this location for about 6 years now. I work in reatil so I am very BIG on customer service. Today 05/06/2021 at 7:20 am I went to this location my mornong fix. Keep in mind I passed Dunkin Donuts to visit Starbucks. As I apprporach the counter I could see the young lady looking at me from her peripheral vision as she washed some dishes. I stood waiting for about two minutes bedore she tuned without greeting and asked for my order. I told her my order and she asked if "what did want again", I repeated my order and she grabbed a hot cup when I asked for iced twice. I also told her whole milk no water, she replied " we dont put water in this drink". Her demenor and attiuede was very rude and uncalled for. I asked her to cancel my order and left the store.

Yelp
When I moved to Atlanta barely two years ago, there was no place close buy to shop for sheets, towels, and other necessities. If I wanted to go to a big box, I had to drive far north on Peachtree St. or out to Druid Hills. How times have changed. Now we've got a Target AND a Bed, Bath and Beyond just east of Little Five Points. It's all thanks to the Edgewood Retail District. What else is there at the district? There's Kroger, Lowe's, Tasty D'Light, Figo Pasta, RuSans -- I could go on and on. Suffice it to say that it's just about everything you'd want. And if you live in any of the intown neighborhoods, it means big box prices without having to get on the highway. Finally.

Yelp
Big box stores to supply you for upcoming apocalypse but not much for small independent businesses. Target, Kroger, Lowes, Best Buy, etc probably make up the bulk of the business that occurs here. I go Barnes and Noble to see what new books have been released but don't really spend in there. As for food options, expect franchises to occupy your field of view. Five Guys (always a good staple), Figo, American Deli (avoid it), and others are here for your needs. Starbucks can be found in the B & R and Target as well as Caribou Coffee. Talk about caffeine overload. Ru Sans is always a good bet for unlimited sushi during their buffet times and it's decent stuff. In general it brought the large stores into the city which unfortunately does hurt a lot of local businesses but serves it's purpose for most of your needs. This will be my first stop when zombies start rising. At least I'll be prepared. One last note, more bad drivers show up here than you'll find on 400 during rush hour. They seem real confused by the stop signs, crosswalks, and arrows that tell you which you must go.

Yelp
This is a great and safe place to walk around and shop if you live in the area. I walk to the shopping center from my house and around the shopping center 4-5 times a week to stay active, as well as shop regularly at Lowes, Target and Kroger. I'd prefer: PetSmart over the current pet store, TJMaxx over Ross, GNC over the vitamin store, and Publix over Kroger, but those are personal critiques. Glad all the smaller stores are leased with nice surprises; the cupcake shop is great, the ice cream shop is amazing, Figo pasta is great, Best Buy is ok (if you like being treated like a criminal every time you exit the store), Barnes and Noble is classic to me (it's nice to stop in once and a while and see the newly released books), and FIVE GUYS!!!!!
google avatar

Jackie H.

Yelp
I practically live at this shopping center. The Kroger where I do my shopping is housed here plus there's a Target, an Office Depot, Lowe's, and Best Buy. Oh and B&N bookstore. There is not enough parking for the Kroger and I get irked with a quickness when I'm trying to find parking on a busy day. However, I like the Kroger so once I get inside, I'm cool. Morrelli's lives here. That makes it awesome. On occasion I have stopped by the nail shop and that's cool. Overall, I like this shopping plaza. It can get crazy busy because of all the stores (all of which are not named here), but I'm still here on the regular for one thing or another.

Yelp
This is my one-stop-shop for everything! I can pamper myself, grab a smoothie or latte before walking to Kroger grocery store. Do some quick shopping for family and friends at Bee Hive or Sole shoes. They're both favorites of mine or simply escape for some alone time or catch up on my reading at Barnes N Nobles. If and when I'm ready to grub, the choices are endless but, I normally climb the stairs to heaven, I mean Ru San's and par-take in their buffet a long with bottle of nigori.
google avatar

Yelp
I have to deal with this business district because I live a mile from it and I would rather go here than to murder Kroger or a Target a million miles away. And I love me some Target!! Sure, the folks that frequent this area can't drive to save their life. Try being on a scooter and having folks run the stop signs. Not cool. I have numerous beefs with this area, but the shopping is too good to be true. Until it gets dark. Then I steer clear as it seems to fill up with thugs trying to hit on you when it gets dark. I can take care of pretty much anything I need here without going any place else. Wachovia, Kroger, Target, Lowe's, Barnes and Noble, Best Buy, Ru San's, etc. are within a mile from my house so why should I not be happy? I hate when cool neighborhoods get infiltrated by corporate power houses, but I welcomed this complex because I hated how far I had to go in order to get what I wanted. I just hope this area does not end up being as shady as I hope it will not be.

Yelp
One autumn Sunday afternoon, I walked from Petco to Willy's and then back to my car in the Kroger parking lot at Edgewood. Since the ill-planned lots and hazardous four-way stops provide multiple avenues for sheet metal tragedies, I usually leave my auto at its original destination and shop-hop on foot. As I made my way down the crosswalk by the Beehive, a car horn honked relentlessly for at least a full minute, echoing like a goose mourning the loss of its child that has been eaten by a hawk. "Somebody's pissed," I noted to myself. Moments later, two cars raced through a four-way stop, a silver SUV swerving left then right to cut off another maroon SUV. A duo of thirtysomething women in the maroon vehicle clapped and laughed, prompting a similarly aged man to exit his silver vehicle, stomp to the enemy's window and bow up like a rooster. A man who physically threatens a woman is despicable, but I have to say that the rooster's explosive behavior represents the cumulative frustration we Atlantans share for the Edgewood Retail District. I nearly have a heart attack every time I park, and exiting said space presents a whole new set of coronary stress. Not to mention throwing your car back into the flow of traffic, hoping you don't get killed while getting the hell out of there. Yet, the Edgewood Retail District is simultaneously so convenient. One Saturday morning I recycled old computer parts at the Office Depot, picked up a pack of Vitamin Waters at Kroger, looked for Ron Paul's Revolution at Barnes & Noble, selected a set of seasonal towels at Ross and purchased a Christmas prezzie for my cat at Petco within an hour. Another evening I dropped my car off at Best Buy for sound system updates, grabbed dinner at Ru San's, surfed the Internet while sipping hot chai at Caribou Coffee, bought a can of air at Lowe's and perused greeting cards at Target. If you can't relate to the concept of a love-hate relationship, go the Edgewood Retail District, and then you'll understand.

Yelp
There's so much that can be said of Edgewood Retail District. There's a variety of shops and restaurants...where you can find hardware, clothes, books and even groceries. Due to the amount of shops...this can be a very popular (and crowded) area...so please don't be one of those people who gets surprised that parking is hard to find on a Saturday afternoon. That's just science. :) Few retailers - Target, Ross, Lowe's, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Petco Few restaurants - Five Guys, Ru Sans, Willy's I've been in pretty much every store/restaurant here and have always had great service. Honestly...the only bad part is the amount of traffic you might have to deal with, but you can overcome it by parking in the underground garage or one of the covered areas. Or just walk a bit...exercise is good for you. :) Overall...this place has a little bit of everything. Now go have some fun!

Yelp
I am completely biased because when I moved to the Eastside of Atlanta I rented a Uhaul from a store that was pretty much about where the Best Buy is now. Next door was an abandoned office building of some sort. I remember my dad saying something like "Is this area is in transition?" I just shrugged it off and hoped my parents would see the potential in my choice of neighborhoods less than 10 minutes away. Less than a year later I started seeing signs for the forthcoming Edgewood Retail District and I could have done cartwheels in my front lawn. No longer would I have to go all the way to Buckhead to experience Targe' or Best Buy. I wouldn't even have to go to the Midtown Shopping plaza to pick up light bulbs and hardware, because a brand new Lowe's had landed! As far as the stores I couldn't be happier. Not sure why they put a Starbucks in all of them, but it doesn't seem to be hurting the business at the one in Little 5 Points, less than a quarter of a mile away. I haven't found a perfect place to eat here outside of the Subway and now that they've done away with my Parmigiana chicken sandwich even that isn't compelling. There are still some empty retail spaces, so maybe they will put something worth pulling over for soon.

Yelp
The stores are all worth it, I suppose, as far as major chains go. At least most of the small shops are locally-owned. Big complaint here, and with most of Sembler's developments: the parking lots are a nightmare. Poorly designed and obnoxiously unfriendly to most drivers. We either park underground if we're going to that side, or we park centrally and just walk to whatever shops we're hitting that day.

Yelp
Glad it's here but not happy to say we frequent this place way too much. High Points: Target, Kroger, Beehive Low Points: Pretty much the rest. This place is kinda invading the cute park neighborhoods' turf.

Yelp
First time visiting this shopping center today and let me say parking is HORRIBLE!! Now I might add there is a parking garage for your usage however it you plan on shopping it can be a little bit of a hassle. Traffic leaving out of this shopping center is definitely a nightmare. Be prepared and patient when coming here either go when most stores open up for the day or when they're just about to close. Hopefully, you can avoid the congestion and traffic.

Yelp
I love Target, everyone needs a grocery store, and I am a new homeowner so Lowe's is clutch. Unfortunately nearly every shopping experience that I have here is awful. The parking lot is crowded and hard to navigate. There's no really easy way to go from Kroger to Lowe's either walking or driving. Driving is difficult because of the volume of cars in the parking lot. Walking sucks because drivers don't look out for pedestrians. If continually doing the same thing and expecting new results is a mark of insanity count me as insane. Living in Grant Park makes Edgewood the closest option for most of my shopping needs so I'm there all the time.

Yelp
Nice shopping area close to the Marta. Best Buy, Barnes and Nobles, a cute cupcakery, Target, and Lowe's and more. There is plenty of parking, but sometimes the drivers can be kind of aggressive. Food options include Starbucks at Target, RuSan's sushi, Morrelli's ice cream, Five Guys, Figo, and a lot more. I'm not sure how safe the area is after it gets dark.

Yelp
My fav strip mall. Can't go wrong with this place. Love the cafe in Kroger, love the Starbucks in Target.

Yelp
Nice addition to the area that came about a couple of years ago. With success, however, comes cars, cars, and more cars. If you go on the weekend, this place gets pretty busy. Have patience getting in/out of the lot and finding a parking spot. Great selection of businesses here: Lowe's home improvement store, Target, Best Buy, Kroger, Barnes & Noble, Office Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond, Petco, Ross Dress for Less, Caribou Coffee, Figo, RuSans, Five Guys Burgers and Fries....and many more smaller shops. Very easy access to Dekalb Ave. if you want to avoid the craziness that is Little 5 Points and Ponce deLeon.

Yelp
Being that I live in Candler Park this place is the go-to spot for most of my shopping. It has almost completely eliminated any needed trips to Walmart (Target, Best Buy, & Kroger cover that) and when we're in the mood for dinner out this place has two of the greatest options around: Ru San's and Figo! There used to be a Cold Stone Creamery but alas it is not there any more =( Parking can be a nightmare, especially in front Kroger. They have a pretty spacious underground lot but it doesn't extend all they way under Kroger, but it's great for Target, Ross, & Petco shopping. If you're familiar with the area try to take the back roads in and out, it can save you a lot of time waiting in turn and light lines. Hit up Marion Pl to La France St to make your way hassle free to Dekalb Ave.

Yelp
So many places to shop I remember it use to be nothing over here then came the boom even tho people cars get broken Into or you may hear them on TV it's still a nice place to have lunch and spend some money

Yelp
This place is practically my home away from home; especially when I have absolutely f*ck-all to do. I just hop on the bus and head here. Does that mean my life is in a rut? Probably. But, whatever. I can get my lunch here ( Ru Sans when I want to be healthy, Five Guys when I want to be fatty), read a book at Barnes and Noble, AND do some window shopping for myself at Ross and Target. What's not to love? Plus, it's pretty close to Little Five Points, so on a nice day, there's plenty of lazy walking around to do.

Yelp
People are car jacked here all the time. And every time I do see security they are either sitting in their cart texting on their phone, or worried about people parked on the curb waiting to pick someone up in front of the store. They need a better security company than Allied if they want people to feel safe enough to shop here. And the parking garage smells like elephant manure. Gross.

Yelp
I gotta say overall this place is probably closer to a 4, but the parking situation here brings it down just a bit. This place has AWESOME big brand name stores, but there is simply not enough parking for all of these big box retailers. However, if you find a spot and avoid hitting pedestrians, dogs and anything else that jumps in front of you, your experience here will be just fine!

Yelp
If you don't mind a potential armed robbery than this is your shopping center. If we must go there (it is less than a mile from our house), we only go during the day and without our toddler. The security is non existent and we have had more than a handful of friends get robbed at gunpoint. be aware when you shop there!

Yelp
This is not about the whole district, only Fogo's. It's been my fave place in Atalanta. Concept, food, pricing etc. IMO it's a plan that has worked out well. But the new location at Edgewood was terrible. I came in one evening and could tell the crew couldn't wait to get out of there. Cook was drinking beers down behind counter, hostess was so jaded she couldn't have cared less and I still tipped her like a fool. But all this is negligible if the food were good. "Caesar Salad" was limp lukewarm brown (I think) Iceberg, Bruschetta was...toates bread PILED with old diced tomatoes, cold and runny. Gnocchi tates like canned sauce poured over the pasta. I love real Italian food, and in the past I got this at Figo's. That was what I loved: the non-americanization of the fare. What we got the other noght was lousy and also somehow ended up way overpriced. Haven't figured that one out yet...

Yelp
Heck, this place has a Pet Store, Grocery Store, Hardware Store, Book Store and a Best Buy among tons off other smaller places. What's not to like.....oh yeah some of the reprehensible staff at Target.

Yelp
This is a cool spot not really a hangout spot. But a great 1st date you can eat at RuSans or vist the Barnes and Noble. I wish it had a cute little spot for Jazz, or just entertainment. I ve seen better urban development. When you are in the part

Yelp
I love the walkability of this area and that there is a great diversity of stores- from large chains like T J Maxx to little boutiques to support local designers. Also the food choices are awesome and plentiful and a stop for ice cream tops off any shopping spree!

Yelp
I probably frequent this shopping center more than any other. Best Buy, Target and Bed Bath & Beyond are the stores I mainly come here for. I've been going to this shopping center for years and the only complaint I have is how congested it can get. But to avoid most of that, I just park in the garage that it seems most don't know about. However, if you do park in the garage, it's extemely dark and not well lit so be careful.

Yelp
This was a nice place to venture to for a day out shopping. It feels a lot like Atlantic Station but more affordable. Kudos to the people who decided to build this up. It's got Ross, Barnes and Noble, Office Depot, and lots of other stores. I'll be back, I'm sure.

Yelp
LOWES HARDWARE GARDEN CENTER ROCKS. I go there at least 3 times a week and Ron, the manager, is very knowledgeable and the staff are nice and friendly. That makes everything else in the shopping center of no concern to me, as far as good or bad.

Yelp
THANK GOD FOR THIS PLAZA! This is the only salvation in the outskirts of downtown Atlanta. They have really good stores, its clean, always a good atmosphere, id seriously go nuts if this weren't here. if you have to choose between here and any other mall, PICK THIS ONE. THE BEST HANDS DOWN NO QUESTIONS ASKED. plus the Barnes and nobles is awesome, and the best buy, and target, and pet-co. they could use a more focal point of entertainment but there's a bunch of restaurants just around the bend anyway so great place for just hanging out in general.

Yelp
who in the hell designed the parking lot? unmarked crosswalks, stop signs dropped here and there without any order, an entrance/exit to Hardee St that is open or closed without warning?
