The food is delicious! Everything I’ve ordered has been excellent. They have a large menu with something for everyone. Traditional Filipino food, incredible ramen and my favorite the sushi! I have made this a regular spot for my family and I. The servers and sushi chefs are always pleasant and friendly. I have 3 kids and they all love it as well! Can’t Say enough good things about Edo! Keep up the good work guys!

Google
I recommend the Mad Hatter Roll! Would love to go back just for this. It's absolutely delicious. Great staff, and I really love the vibe and decor of this place. I love that it's so vegan-friendly with its menu offerings. I never thought I'd see a restaurant that offers vegan Filipino food in Michigan! That was exciting to see as someone that is half Filipino. I love that it also has vegan dessert options. The vegan mochi ice cream was sold out when I visited, but I loved seeing it on the menu. The portion size of the ramen is huge. I got the spicy tofu ramen. I had a couple meals worth of leftovers. We dressed our leftover ramen in sesame oil. So good!

Google
I love this restaurant. They have traditional Japanese AND Filipino food. That’s why they’re “fusion”. We got lumpia, pancit, seafood ramen, mami, and lecho kiwali. Got turon and ube ice cream for dessert. Their drinks are awesome and dessert amazing too!

Tried the Crispy Jalapeno Shrimp, Takoyaki, Fried Ube Ice Cream and 4 types of sushi. All savory dishes were okay, not bad. The Ube ice cream itself was really good but the fried batter on top of it was too thick and overpowering. Service was decent and so was the ambience. Nothing extraordinary.

Edo is one of Royal Oak’s best kept secrets. I have been going to Edo for over 3 years now. They not only have a delicious award-winning menu that caters to all dietary needs but often have free entertainment on the weekends. They also occasionally host private events…from birthdays, anniversaries, to book releases. They do an amazing job and help support many artists and musicians as well. They are truly good people. They have an amazing staff. And I have to also throw in that they have free parking— which is priceless! I support Edo because they truly give back to the community.

This place is jewel of an experience. I live in Rochester hills and I probably visit here more than once a month. The food is authentically crafted and delicious. I can’t explain how much more I like their food compared to others of the same genre of cuisine. There is an element of home cooking and fine dining refining their recipes. Even the presentation presents a vibe that is real and interesting. My favorite sushi is the extreme California roll or the caterpillar roll. If rolls aren’t your thing the steamed dumplings will firm up win you affection with its savory broth drippings. I tend to have the ramen with their kale noodles that make me feel less guilty for enjoying the Smorgasbord of offerings. I recommend to try to sit in different spots each time you visit to be able to appreciate the hired help and their riveting personalities. Bottom line: I love the food, the atmosphere, and the workers here!

Google
We really enjoyed our meal at Edo Ramen e started with a crazy roll and it was delicious. It looked visually pleasing g as well. The ramens were very good. Service was A+. They have a wide variety of Hitachino Nest beers and I was able to try 3. The drink menu overall it’s pretty good for a smaller place like this. Parking is wavy in back.

Google
Very attentive service with a very knowledgeable waitress. She was kind and accommodating to our requests and questions. They had live music that was stellar and the food was authentic and delicious. Little pricy but for the portion size, well worth it. Would 100% come back again!

Yelp
I stopped here because I was craving sushi. Since I was dining by myself, I opted to sit at the bar. It wasn't crowded, but there were a mixture of customers that all seemed to be enjoying their experiences. My server helped me promptly and recommended the Flame Thrower. It was amazing and something I will definitely have again. Though they didn't have it that night, Edo features live music on some nights I was told.

Brittany L.

Yelp
I wish I had taken some pictures, but unfortunately we just chowed right down. My kiddos both got a ramen bowl and they devoured it. We also got the Godzilla roll, which was fairly tasty, but a little warmer than I think I'd prefer. I wasn't super impressed with the Kai Ramen, the seafood had a slightly 'fishy' taste versus flavor.

Tony R.

Yelp
Great food at reasonable prices Wonderful art shows or music or both usually on the weekends. A great place to hang with friends

Lee B.

Yelp
I'm going to lower my rating to four stars based on recent visits to Edo. I also think their menu is quite expensive. They changed their sushi menu and it's not as strong as it was. I still love it but it's no longer as strong.

Kirsten O.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE. The food is always fantastic, especially the ramen. Servers are prompt and very helpful. You can tell the staff is happy to be there!

Sohaib L.

Yelp
The rainbow sushi roll was one of the best I have had, very fresh. Shrimp tempura roll was very good too, just a bit on sweeter side (maybe too much eel sauce). Miso Shrimp ramen which was good, felt it was a bit too salty, even for miso it was too salty. I really appreciate that they have plenty of vegetarian options. Service was excellent, and place felt very cozy. Plenty of seating, felt like a true sushi place.

Amethyst W.

Yelp
The building itself is not that impressive, but the inside is decorated in a very interesting way. It is kind of dark, and it does look like someone tossed some things together to create the ambience. However, I guess maybe that's how the dishes are too. I didn't expect some of the different Ramen or udon combinations that they had where are they really just threw things into ramen and turn it into an unusual dish. They have some traditional ramen and udon dishes but the ones that they just throw together are the ones that are interesting to try. I really enjoyed the curry ramen which they do it very different than most places - the dish I had had so many scallops, a bunch of vegetables, fried shrimp, tempura, and even good chunks of meat in the curry. So good. The service was pleasant, the waitress came by so often. Almost too much. Will definitely come back

Sar A.

Yelp
I arrived shortly after opening hours and I had no issue with parking. I was greeted quickly and asked to be seated at the bar. Service was fast and friendly. The Lechon was very good and rich! I enjoyed the Halo Halo and each spoonful hit the spot. It's nice having Filipino food options!

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Great food and vast menu items. We loved the udon bowls! The food was a bit pricey for sushi rolls so we skipped on this.

Katherine F.

Yelp
I order takeout from Edo frequently and they never disappoint. I've tried a bit of everything on their menu from ramen to sushi and everything is always delicious! The spicy pork ramen is my favorite menu item and it packs so much flavor -perfect for chilly days! Good sushi in Michigan can be hard to come by but Edo has delicious and unique offerings at a fair price (especially compared to competition in the area). Yelp
Real ramen does not serve with hard boiled eggs. If you are gonna intimate something, try to do it right. And the soup base is saltier than the Gulf of Mexico.

Donny W.

Yelp
First thing, the service is always awesome. They have a very warm and inviting staff. The restaurant seating is a little cozy but comfortable. Let's get down to the food! The flamethrower roll is dynamite and I love their creativity with the ramen. I had pot roast ramen which was one of the specials. Tasted just like pot roast. Don't know if I'd recommend that particular bowl but it was charming. Overall I enjoy my visits to Edo.

Yelp
I ordered takoyaki as an app. Now for me this is a rare find on the menu. I had this dish at one other place that closed down and it was legit, just like how it should be based on videos and reads. Should be soft but slightly chewy batter and then the octopus pieces are your normal rubbery texture. Bruuuhhh...this app at this place was heckin..not too good. They were almost liquidy mush inside when u bite into them..yea just not a great experience. The traditional ramen I got was decent only because the broth was pretty rich and flavorful. The chicken was thigh meat and had a weird scent to it, I couldn't continue eating it. Not sure what they marinated the it in. The only reason I would go there is to try it other dishes, they have a variety (I didn't even try their sushi yet!) The only reasons I wouldn't is because of the dirty dishwater they set out and bare minimum service. P.s. the pancit canton was decent after I added chili oil and squeeze of lemon BUT once again the chicken had a strange taste/smell and i ate everything but the chicken. Sucks because I don't eat pork and prefer chicken over beef for Asian dishes.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years since the opened. Food is consistently good and pleases the whole family. Carry out is fast and easy. Our favorites are the Edo House Fried Rice (maybe the most interesting and flavorful fried rice around) and Nashville Ramen (not on the menu but always available with sausage and fried chicken in the Ramen).

Annie A.

Yelp
Had dinner at this restaurant with my friend and her two young kids. The server went above and beyond to accommodate our group. I got the dragon roll and added cream cheese (shrimp tempura, eel, avocado, cucumber and eel sauce). It came with extra tempura bits. It was pretty good but a little expensive compared to similar places. You have to park in the back and walk through a little hallway with art to enter the restaurant.

Marissa C.

Yelp
I ordered takeout from here and it was actually really good! The food had some flair and was everything I could want from a udon dish! My only critique is that the food was a little salty and the fried tofu wasn't super crispy or what I was expecting when I ordered crispy tofu. The lemon was a great touch.

Sabrina H.

Yelp
Their traditional ramen is perfect on a cold day. I had the miso broth and it was a very flavorful vegetarian ramen dish.

Cyril M.

Yelp
Love coming here. But the most recent visit, we were disappointed with the ube ice cream. It was delish but the portion was too small for something that cost nine bucks.

Mike E.

Yelp
Edit has really god sushi! Just had dinner tonight and enjoyed everything we had. Spicy tuna was delish, TNT roll and Crazy roll are top notch! The Murray mule is a darn good cocktail, too. This place is great, really worth a visit

Enjoli C.

Yelp
Normally the food is great, but I was disappointed this time when I ordered Edo house fried rice, add pork belly. I should have just had the house rice without the pork belly. It's was as tough as stale beef jerky and as I ate it, the more the pork got air, the tougher it got. I almost threw up at the end because I was trying to force myself to enjoy it but it got tougher and the flavor changed but I hate wasting food so I tried until I gagged. I will never order pork belly from here again.

Michelle D.

Yelp
As many Japanese restaurants in the area, I would consider Edo Ramen as more of a fusion restaurant. Interestingly, they incorporate Filipino dishes into their menu aside from the Japanese cuisine. The ramen they served is very different from more typical, traditional ramen establishments I've tried. Does not mean it's bad, just that it's different. I ordered the Japanese Curry ramen. The soup has dashi broth and Japanese curry mixture, loaded with toppings such as shrimp tempura, mini scallops, shumai, wood ear mushrooms, hard boiled egg, and nori sheets. The flavor apparently works and the various toppings add a fun texture combination. The portion is pretty big and definitely filling. Overall it was okay. However the service is excellent though! The staff was very friendly and helpful! Actually instead of the ramen next time I'm more interested in trying their filipino dishes!

Jen S.

Yelp
Best sushi in town!!!!! Grab a Mai Tai in a spam can because why would you not!!!! The sushi chefs are incredible & will make you stuff off the menu. As long as you are nice

Lenore B.

Yelp
A cute place with a big menu. The food was delicious, though it took a bit too long for my roll to come to the table. I'll be back though!

Steven B.

Yelp
Food is generally decent but when you get certain dishes for carry out (fried rice, udon noodles, for example) they put the hot food over very thin aluminum foil in a styrofoam container and it is nearly impossible to eat without getting often very small and hard to see pieces of foil in your food. I alerted management about it twice over a three-month period but don't think they care. They obviously have never tried their own carry out or they would make the change. Anyway, I'm done with carry outs from here but though I'd warn others.

Francine W.

Yelp
I felt like the ramen was solid and sushi was only ok. I got the tonkotsu and it had a good pork flavor and noodles were chewy. Good portions. It wasn't the best ramen I've ever had but definitely good for Michigan ramen. Sushi was ok. It was slathered in sauce so very American but if you like that sort of thing you'll like it. Service was good.

Chad C.

Yelp
NIce Place. Good food. came here for a Rock N Roll art show. was awesome

Anita A.

Yelp
It's an okay place to eat. Would I recommend a person go there? If you like drinking then yes. The food was alright. The ramen was pure butter so I know it's not authentic Asian food. The sushi was over sauced, but I guess that's how you know it's not authentic.

A B.

Yelp
I've been here before (a few years ago, in person, it was good!). I was just looking at ordering DoorDash. Why on earth do they have a "See You Next Tuesday" roll?! This is abhorrent and disrespectful to women. It's not cute or ironic or whatever else they may claim. That term is a pejorative used against women.

Jeff And Bernadette K.

Yelp
The Ramen and the Fried Rice were both wonderful as was our waitperson. The Plum Sake was sweet and refreshing. I decided to indulge myself and had the tempura cheese cake which was delightfully good. I highly recommend Edo.

HugMy T.

Yelp
Not real matcha boba it is powdered and you really can tell... the ramen is sub par. Eggs hard boiled and not soft. Also only asian inside... if you kno u kno... muscle wasn't properly cleaned... Update-2-28-2023 As you can tell the owner is a prick... because I asked for a soft boiled egg. What kind of owner is rude to their patrons. I wouldn't go to a place that is as rude as this owner. Just saying City Ramen is 900% better quality so is any ramen shop in A2.. foe the same price... The owner said *we offer soft boiled egg you just have to ask if you know you know..* signs of a shitty owner who doesn't care about customer service. You can tell based on all the other majorly bad reviews... maybe he should go marry Amber Turd seems like they would get along... also the rating was lowered from a 2 star to 1 after that rude as shit owner comment.

Sarah M.

Yelp
This came as a recommendation from someone who has lived in the Berkley/Royal Oak area for a while, but honestly, this is not the spot if you're looking for authentic Asian food. The vibe was really cool, with live music and almost a hipster feel. We sat at the bar and were able to watch the sushi chefs, which was cool. However, I had the miso ramen with pork and the pork just wasn't good. It was a giant hunk of meat and not tender or easy to eat. I've never had ramen like that, and the flavor was lacking. My boyfriend had the yaki udon and he felt similarly about his meal. I'd be willing to go back and try something else, but there was more to be desired.

Yelp
Came here with a couple friends looking to go out to dinner Monday night. I'd just seen something on Facebook claiming Edo had won the Metro Times award for "Best Sushi in Metro Detroit". I was intrigued so I decided to check it out. Edo Ramen is a gallery-esque ramen shop located in a small strip mall. The restaurant is decorated with a lot of different music themed art work. I ordered the Kai ramen which is a bowl of ramen topped with a mini salmon filet, scallops, shrimp, mussels, shumai, and fish cake. I also ordered the softshell crab sushi roll. Our food arrived after a short while. My ramen was slightly warm which was strange because its not like it took that long for it to come out. The noodles were overcooked. The broth was bland. The shumai was pretty unpleasant. Like a flavorless dough ball. The shrimp, mussels, and scallops were unremarkable. The two salmon pieces were the only redeeming quality of this dish. There was a ridiculous quantity of corn in the bowl. It just didn't fit in with the dish and was out of place. I'm not used to corn in my ramen, and especially not with such liberal use. "Let's put a lot of corn in the ramen. It'll be our thing." Overall, it was pretty gross. If the noodles weren't soggy and it was hot, it would have helped greatly. Oh well. Lesson learned. It didn't help that the softshell crab roll was also equally disgusting. It was slimy and did not have the standard crunchy texture you'd relate to a fried crab product. This was the worst softshell crab roll I've had yet, anywhere. I mean even the local buffets are serving better rolls. Thank you for the recommendation Metro Times. It just shows how useless their recommendations are. Someone at my table ordered the vegan spring rolls. Crispy, crunchy outside texture. Porridge like on the inside seeming to lack all flavor. I had to pretend like it was good when I was eating it as not to make my friend not feel bad about their appetizer choice. Anyways, while we were eating our meal, one of our table mates refused to eat his pork tonkotsu ramen. We bided him on saying how great it is. He responded, "This is the worst food I've ever had. Each bite is worse than the next. It tastes like dust. It just takes up space in your mouth." I mean, he is only 8 years old but I fully agreed with him. I gave Edo an extra star because of the pandemic. I don't like to give out negative reviews but this place was just atrocious.

Alexander A.

Yelp
Check out the menu before going. In a lot of other parts of the country this place would make a little niche for themselves as a great Filipino spot because they have the lumpia, they use spam really well, they have the fun fries menu which all looked super good, and those dishes are my favorites. However, the ramen was just meh and there's about a dozen other sushi places in the area doing the same stuff. Also, the cocktails were fun and very good.

Gordon H.

Yelp
The spicy ramen soup here helped me recover from a sinus infection and was also a huge amount of food. Respek

Caroline O.

Yelp
Second time here. Super upset it's been so long since the last time! Awesomely friendly service, killer food, music, vibe, and a mai tai in a spam can. A++++

Allan B.

Yelp
Great service, nice variety on the menu. The side hallway has some great pop up art shows (which was my motivation for going there). Japanese food is not always spicy enough for me so when I asked for something to perk up my ramen they brought a nice bowl of their house Chili oil

Rita G.

Yelp
This spot is ok. Very friendly and efficient staff. Unfortunately you can tell they use packaged ramen noodles. I ordered the Japanese curry ramen. I dont love spicy but even I needed it to have a little kick. You dont expect anything with curry to be bland. The dish visually looked great. I would come back and try their sushi because the staff was so attentive and accomodating

Sherrie K.

Yelp
Very artsy place! Local artists display and sell their artwork there. Love the vibes! Food is amazing, far above the norm in taste and presentation.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Good food love that they have tradition Filipino food most breakfast but can be eaten whenever. Nice space. Been awhile since being there have to go back but it's good and I recommend it

Andrew W.

Yelp
Great ramen, sushi and a decent beer selection. Went on a Saturday and heard a great acoustic band play.

Gavin Z.

Yelp
Best local restaurants around, great drinks, great ramen, great sushi. The service is always great they are accommodating and always brings food quickly. They have live music which is always a treat.

Philip A.

Yelp
Food was amazing! My wife and I both had traditional ramen. I got mine with pork broth and pork meat, my wife got chicken broth and shrimp. We also shared a fried crab sushi roll. It was so good. Service was good too, our server was nice and helpful. It was a fairly busy Friday night. We shared a bottle of Snow Beauty nigori sake and it was delicious. The decor was nice, the entrance is kinda hard to find. They had a girl singing and playing acoustic which i don't necessarily care for but not a deal breaker. She talked too much but she played decent songs. Some clown felt like he needed to go grab his guitar and join her cuz he's a washed up musician or something but whatever. Will still go back.

Don B.

Yelp
Fun place. Narrow but adequate seating. The artwork on the walls is like a punk noir kind of rock n roll vibe. The food was very good. I especially like that the non-Ramen options were plentiful and equally good to taste. The price is a little high, but it's a boutique like vibe. I like the specials menu for something out of the ordinary.

Ari L.

Yelp
Great little, good food & service, I drive past on my way to work. Went for my daughter's birthday awesome experience & food can't wait to go back!

Lily N.

Yelp
I came here on a random Tuesday afternoon and it was pretty quiet here so I was happy about that for myself. It took me a second to figure out the parking because the parking is in the back and I pulled into the wrong one. The restaurant is connected to an art facility also so I almost walked in on that place too! I was craving ramen but I was also craving sushi so to my surprise they had a lunch special that was ramen and sushi! Two in one for $14 so I was pumped! I did however look at the normal menu and the prices did look a little steep. I mean $7 for a basic California roll and $9 for an appetizer of takoyaki? Get real.. are these made of gold?! So I ordered the traditional ramen with the California roll (Krab salad) and I'm gonna be honest, I didn't really love either of them. The California roll was a pretty dry and flavorless, I typically like a more creamy krab salad. The ramen was also kind of weird. It's not like the typical traditional ramen you would get. The ramen had pork, not pork belly, but just slices of pork, crispy onion, meatballs, corn, and a few other ingredients. That ramen was a little strange and I didn't love it. The broth was also luke warm so it was hard for the noodles to separate. All in all, I did read the reviews here prior, but was hoping they would be wrong because I love sushi and ramen. I didn't love this place and if you come during dinner time instead of the lunch special, you are paying a hefty amount for low quality.

Turd F.

Yelp
CITY RAMEN IN ROYAL OAK AND IMA IN MADISON HEIGHTS HAVE FAR SUPERIOR RAMEN. I ordered Traditional style ramen with braised pork, Yakiudon with chicken, and Lumpia fried spring rolls. EVERYTHING WAS BLAND. The Ramen broth and the braised pork had no seasoning and no flavor. The udon noodles with chicken were slimy, bland, and disgusting. Even the lumpia fried spring rolls had no seasonings or flavor. I will continue to go to Ima and City Ramen where the food at least has salt and pepper in it.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Okay, I'm a huge ramen fan and was a tad nervous that this may not blow my taste buds out of the water but it was better than anticipated. Every single bite there's a jolt to my mouth, my nose runs a little more, the textures vary as well as the flavors but they all go together as if they were family. The egg was a perfect soft/medium boil. I'm very impressed and will be sending all of my friends to go order their own ASAP. Wow. Amazing. Will come back, if it were closer i would be a regular. The service was phenomenal as was the atmosphere, granted it was take out... the second I walked in the hostess/waitress rushed to the door, I looked over to the left and saw a huge professional food filming station where all I could hear was chatter about how good the food was.

Sue H.

Yelp
I will never forget how they made me feel, refusing a glass of water to a thirsty air traveler, after ordering takeout and tipping well! And the rice noodle Pancit, Bihon style with chicken was the blandest dish I have ever tried, unseasoned chunks of dark chicken with tiny tiny pieces of vegetables. At least the noodles were cooked perfectly.

Vicki L.

Yelp
Won't order again. I ordered tempura udon. Shrimp that came with it were unappetizing strings of shrimp with tails falling out of tempura crust. Udon noodles were fine. Definitely no seaweed as the menu stated. For $14 I could of found the same broth and noodles in a microwaveable instant udon from the store. Sushi was fine. Pricy for what it was.

Melinda R.

Yelp
This is my cousins restaurant and I visited a few months after they opened. The ambiance was amazing, decor is amazing and yes the parking's behind the building. I know from my cousin that he is continuously working on innovating his offerings, the most recent is collaborating with another business to create an Asian flavored ice cream. The restaurant offers fusion dishes, bringing foods from the Philippines such as the adobo fries and lumpia. Come over and try Edo Ramen!
