I absolutely had a wonderful time and meal at Edo - my first meal while I was in Belfast. There's a lot of restaurant options within walking distance from my hotel including Edo. I made reservations online a month prior to coming here which was a good idea as this place gets busy.
They use European ingredients to serve the most delectable tapas and entrees. Spanish cuisine is one of my favorites! They have pan con tomate, marcona almonds, Pimientos de Padrón, olives, chorizo, croquetas, soft shell crab, Spanish tortilla, chicken wings, paella, steak, salmon, chicken, etc. They have desserts such as Crema Catalana, Panna Cotta, polenta Cake, affogato, chocolate tart, and cheeseboard.
I got seated by the window at a table for 4 - and it was just me, myself, and I + my giant appetite - so a huge table was perfect! All of their tapas seem so delicious but I had to limit myself to only a few items since it was close to bedtime when I went here (and I had to start my day super early the next day). I was conflicted. Everything I wanted at that moment were all pork and I felt like I need a variety. The server was nice enough to give recommendations but in the end, I focused on my favorite things: chicharron, and Jamon Iberico. For my entree, I got the Pork Steak. And to sweeten the ending, I got churros for dessert. I savored every bite. Let the Jamon Iberico melt in my mouth.
Chicharron:
Pork belly chunks that has been sitting in brine and then fried. Tender meat as crispy skin. All I need was a side of rice or potatoes to make it a meal. 4/5
Jamon Iberico:
It's quite pricey to have Jamon Iberico in the US so, every time I'm in Europe, I have to take advantage of this. Huge serving for £10. 5/5
Pork Steak:
Pork shoulder with Jerusalem artichoke, truffle goat cheese emulsion, and walnuts. I could've gotten beef steak but I already had steak places on my itinerary for the next few days. I was honestly expecting a thin dry pork chop but to my surprise, right in front of me was a huge thick cut of juicy grilled pork! It came with a side of fried potato skins that were super crunchy. 5/5
Churros:
Ok now, this is where it got kind of tricky. It's like Mexican churros meet Spanish churros. I prefer the Spanish version (fried pate a choux you dip in thick warm chocolate) over the cinnamon sugar-dusted fried pate a choux. You get Mexican churros with a side of warm dark chocolate which a bit runny. I would've liked a thicker chocolate. 3/5
For all the food I ate, I only spent less than £40!
There's a bus stop right outside this restaurant so if you're coming from a few miles farther, you can take the bus to get here.
