Giraffe Restaurant Chain Will Close 27 ‘World Kitchen’ Restaurants | Eater London

"A mid-century–inspired diner chain included in a restructuring plan after its 2016 acquisition alongside a partner brand; the CVA will contribute to the closure of 27 of the combined 87 locations. KPMG has been tasked with overseeing the turnaround, while the owner points to increasing operating costs, market overcapacity and weaker consumer demand as drivers of the decision." - Emma Hughes

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Nostalgic Treat with a Modern Twist! Ed’s Easy Diner is a delightful throwback to classic American diners, and it delivers charm in spades. The retro decor, makes a fun and relaxed atmosphere that’s perfect for casual dining. The food hits the spot – hearty, satisfying, and exactly what you’d hope for from a diner menu. The burgers were juicy and well-seasoned, the chips were crisp. Portions are generous, so come hungry! Service was friendly and upbeat, though things were a bit slow at times – hence the four stars instead of five. Still, the staff clearly care and add to the warm, welcoming vibe. If you're after comfort food with a side of nostalgia, Ed’s Easy Diner is well worth a visit.

Popped in for breakfast with my family and it was great. Always walked past and glad we gave it a shot, had the big breakfast which was amazing, even the kids breakfast was massive. Also the milkshakes are litteraly the best.

Delicious food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. The dishes were fresh, full of flavour, and well presented. Portion sizes were spot on, and the prices were very fair. Highly recommend and will definitely return!

I’d been looking forward to visiting Ed’s Easy Diner for a long time, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The buttermilk chicken burger was cooked to perfection — the chicken inside was fresh, juicy, and tender. The chips and onions were equally delicious. While the interior and upholstery looked a little worn, it could be seen as adding to the authentic charm of the American diner experience. Overall, I loved the food, and the service was fast and friendly. The option to order via the QR code on the table is brilliant. I’ll definitely look to visit again next time I’m at Cheshire Oaks.

My experience at Ed’s Easy Diner was unbelievably disappointing. The food was absolutely horrendous—stale, flavorless, and tasting as if it had been sitting around for far too long. I could not recommend this place less. On top of that, the staff were blatantly rude and showed a shockingly bad attitude throughout my visit. Overall, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had.

We ordered two cheesy burgers and one classic chicken burger. Our food was incredibly delicious, and I highly recommend this place to any burger lover.

Google
This was an amazing experience, we had Emma F as our server and she was so attentive and lovely. If our drinks were low she’s was refilling it before we asked, she was a delight. The food was amazing and super quick. We had quite an awkward order and they were super accommodating.

Yelp
this was the first diner i've been to since i've been in manchester & it reminded me of many similar ones back in the states! i really enjoyed the diner atmosphere as it's really popular, especially during the lunchtime rush among families. we waited for a few minutes before being seated at a booth table for two which was super cute! i wanted to try the beet root burger as it sounded really nice and i asked our server for her opinion on it (who was amazing, given how busy it was she still wore a smile and had a sense of humor!) and she spoke honestly abt haven't had tried it but most of the vegetarians really enjoyed it so i decided to get that! my friend always ordered a hot dog as he told me and it surprised me when i saw that it was actually a foot long hot dog! it took a bit for our food to arrive, about 10-15 minutes but it was a really nice tasting burger! i did enjoy it and am glad we came to eat here while we were new years shopping at cheshire oaks!

Yelp
"If you can find a better diner, eat there! Ed" Yep it's fair to say I fell in love with this place as soon as I walked in, the writing was (literally) on the wall. There's an instant feeling of "Am I on a film set?" when you're in here, a VERY American film set. The music, the bright red decor, the minimalist cost cutting interior design to maximise space/profit screamed birth of capitalism. The super smiley staff with an overzealous urge to please. Numerous diner scenes from various films flashed before my eyes as I sat pretend perusing the menu. A very northern accented man interrupted my day dreaming, a shock given the American nature of that dream. I ordered a rootbeer, my first ever one. (Certainly won't be my last... It was incredible) The food was very simple. The burger was normal sized as were the fries. There was no pretense, this was just a diner serving basic American food. Having not tried ALL the eateries in Cheshire Oaks it'd be wrong for me to call this the best place to eat there. But i bet it'd be pretty close. The locale is never gonna be one for 'fine dining'. Which is fine by me, I'm not exactly a huge fan of culinary pretension. But after a few laps of the shops and with hunger drums beating you'd be a fool if you ignore the delights of Ed's diner. So go check it out.

Yelp
Ed's is a very American 'diner' which serves a variety of burgers, dogs and fries. The kitchen is open which is cool and you can also sit at the bar area for a snack or drink. Obviously Cheshire Oaks isn't going to be a place where you would go specifically for the food (or maybe you would if you lived close by) but you are sure to get a very enjoyable meal for a reasonable price here. The portions are huge and good value. he second time I went there was a large que at the door but as we just fancied a shake we were allowed to go straight through and sit at the bar for it (we had the choice) which was good fun being able to watch all the food being cooked - I was amazed how much food they were actually cooking at once! I'd go as far as saying this is probably the best bet for food in the area and you cannot wait until you get back to Manchester. Well done Ed's.

Yelp
To say I've had better is an understatement. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with the food or the service it just isn't great. I have spent a lot of time in the states and have visited a lot of diners. The quality of the food just isn't up to the standards you would expect from a diner in the US. The food was mass produced and provided poor value for money. I had one of their breakfast burgers. firstly the burger was small and relatively tasteless. the hash brown really wasn't an American hash brown (guys please look up how to do it properly). The staff were a little laxidasical and took a long time to take order, bring drinks or the bill. I always feel it would be nice to get a decent american style diner in the UK. The setup is here they just need to fix the food and service.

Yelp
Its a descent place for a quick bite to eat in between shopping I had a cheese burger with chips and onion ring it was lovely. Me and my partner shared a vanilla milk shake you got two large glasses which was good for the price . It's nice to see the kitchen staff making all the food the service was efficient and staff are very friendly. Would visit again when I'm next at Cheshire oaks.

Yelp
Ed's is the typical American-style diner that you've come to expect. I don't mean that as a negative at all - in many ways it's a positive to me. I'm a sucker for this type of thing, basically. The cheesy nostalgia of these places suits me perfectly. The food is the type of thing you expect - burgers, hot dogs, all-day breakfasts, etc. The option I went with was the 'The Original' plus cheese. I just love the basic, old fashioned, American burger and this really hit the spot. I was tempted by quite a few others on the menu too, such as the Barbeque Deluxe and Big Bubba's Bacon & Cheese. There's a good range here and some options that you probably won't expect. The side dishes are the same combination of the expected and the UNexpected. I was very tempted by the 'Atomic American Fries' but my partner isn't into things too spicy so we went for something unusual in these diners - Sweet Potato Fries. We are both sweet potato crazy so this was fantastic for us. To drink I had a root beer float and it was gorgeous, like being in America. I have also popped into the resaurant on a different occasion to grab one of my most-loved drinks - a Vanilla Malt. I advise that everybody who goes here gets one of these. Malted Milkshakes are a gift from Elvis up in heaven. There's a lot of choice with the shakes in general. My partner got a Peanut Butter one and it was no less tasty. They even do flavours such as Butterscotch, Oreo and Coffee & Banana. Overall the food was tasty and the drinks were gorgeous. As nice as it was for food, the shakes and floats are really the draw in my eyes so definitely check these out. This is the type of place to come to if you want a step up from McDonalds and Burger King but don't want to go too high-end, such as Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

Yelp
Mediocre food, terrible service. The waiter was too stoned to remember my order, even after he made me repeat it three times. And they really don't know how to prepare a hamburger. Tastes like a hockey puck.

Yelp
Good welcome, efficient friendly service, clean, comfortable, American diner bright, Elvis playing - chocolate malt milkshake served quickly - creamy with flavour 3.5/5. Good burger- nice seeded bun, thick burger crisp lettuce , fresh onion Tom and bacon , American mustard and pickle- served with chips coleslaw and onion rings, I'd have expected American Tom sauce rather than Heinz. Good plate of food, textures are really good, proper meat not mush you get from macdonalds. Good variety on differences to burger or hot dog. will come back.

Yelp
Ed's diner is a typical American style diner really, nice layout and good American music playing. I had the blue cheese burger which was well cooked but lacked a bit more effort presentation wise. One piece of lettuce on top and not a lot of attention in the construction of the burger. But nevertheless tasted good and the onion rings and slaw were tasty. My other issue here was the fries being in an American style diner I would expect thin cut French fries but here the fries are more British strike think cut. Would recommend this place to anyone wishing to have a quick bite to eat

Yelp
The food is ok the look of the whole place is cool I expected for its kind of a let down and it's just in a strange location Cheshire Oaks is not a place I would come just to see this maybe if they adapted this to more restaurants (I don't know if there already are other Ed's) then it would be a lot more of an enjoyable but I wouldn't trek out to Cheshire Oaks to find this. In short I wouldn't recommend it to friends but if there was no other choice I would come here.

Yelp
Walked in easily after 1130 and could still order breakfast (just no scrambled egg) we had the Ed's full breakfast and the 'just outta bed' breakfast with 2 teas and toast. Loved our breakfasts! Hit the right spot not too greasy not too 'healthy'. Service was also good, had 2 refills and asked of everything was ok. One thing which gets me with 'American diners' In the UK - have you ever had actual american hash browns? Overall, excellent experience and I would easily recommend!

Yelp
Fast food level food, at restaurant prices. Seriously underwhelmed by the quality of the food. Service is friendly enough and fast, and the ambience and location is good, but seriously underwhelming and average food and small portion sizes for the price you pay. Went as a family and left feeling like we were robbed. Save your money and go to KFC or Burger King instead, the quality of food here is actually WORSE than those places. They obviously poured all their money on the decor (which is admittedly impressive), and barely anything on the food, which is, no exaggeration, school dinner quality! No garnishing and very basic - who the hell serves a burger with just a bare bun with no salad or any sauce? My chicken burger, which cost almost £7 on its own, looked and tasted like some £2 chicken burger from rusholme, and the kids meal looks like something you could buy from Asda and bung up in the oven. Seriously guys, seriously?? I don't mind paying a premium for food, it just really grates when you are paying over the odds for mediocre stuff. If you want American style diner food, there are a lot of much better places around in Manchester. Avoid!
