"Everyone looks hot but feels cool at this absolute flare of a sushi spot—even the passenger princess weimaraner we saw cruising by in a Porsche convertible. Exceptional Notting Hill people-watching aside, there’s a low-key nonchalance in the air and a short menu of sushi that will incite big feelings. This is some of the best nigiri in London, and unless you’re trying to present as a spontaneous wild child, get a booking to sneak past the walk-in crowds." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley
"At dinnertime, crowds form outside this sleek spot in Notting Hill. As they should, because the sushi at Eel Sushi Bar, from the people behind Tuna Fight Club and Dorian, is incredible. Behind the wooden counter, chefs work calmly and methodically, placing tray after tray of perfectly plated nigiri while nodding their heads to the quiet, upbeat music. Everything from melting salmon to meaty lobster looks perfect and tastes even better. There is truly no wrong order from the concise menu. So eat as much as you can and be on your way. There are people waiting." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, daisy meager, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, daisy meager, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
"When the team behind Tuna Fight Club and Dorian open a sushi bar, you take note. Eel Sushi Bar will be across the road from Notting Hill sibling Dorian, and there’s “no omakase horseshit and ponce. Just great quality, low priced sushi”. Open seven days a week, it’s walk-in-only, a la carte, and shares a wine list with Dorian. We checked out Eel Sushi Bar and added it to the Hit List." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
"Summer is the best season for people-watching and Eel Sushi Bar’s window seats are perfect for gazing out while throwing back some of London’s best nigiri. We’ve seen west London locals strut past in their Sunday best as we sip on enoki-filled miso soup, and a 60kg great dane playing passenger princess in a convertible. This sushi bar is the place to be for a spontaneous Notting Hill moment." - rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna
"The Verdict: As long as you know that casual doesn’t mean cheap, you’ll appreciate Eel Sushi Bar as one of the best sushi experiences in the city. The sushi—strictly sashimi and nigiri only—at this laid-back Notting Hill spot is incredible. Behind the wooden counter, the chefs work quickly and methodically, placing tray after tray of perfectly plated nigiri while nodding their heads to the quiet, upbeat music. Everything from melting salmon to sweet scallop looks perfect and tastes even better. They save 50% of seats for walk-ins, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have to wait at least a half hour. Just know it’s worth it." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley
