The 23 Best Restaurants in Amsterdam, the Netherlands | Eater

"The kapsalon (“hair salon”) is emblematic of the diversity of the modern Netherlands: A Cape Verdean hairdresser dreamed up the dish while visiting his local Turkish shawarma place. It consists of a pile of fries covered in döner meat, a slice of Dutch cheese, some miscellaneous vegetables, and doses of garlic sauce and sambal. Though the original hails from Rotterdam, you’ll find the nicest one in Amsterdam at Sinbad. Veal döner is the classic, but there’s also a highly regarded chicken version, as well as lamb. Watch a broad cross section of Amsterdam society churning in and out while you wait for your meal, and don’t forget to load yours up from the self-service sauces. Know before you go: Get a soda, even if you don’t think you want one, to counter all that salt." - Katharine Khamhaengwong

Believe what makes it best was they kept it simple. Fries are not soggy and keep the vegetable with lettuce. Simple but all perfect! Definitely coming back.

Their chicken sandwich is really great. It’s packed with delicious shredded chicken and a good amount of lettuce and sauce. They definitely specialize in meat-based meals here, as their vegetarian options are sparse and I found the falafel to be disappointing. If you eat meat though, this place is perfect for a late night meal or quick dinner.

Saw this place on a Munchies YouTube video about late night food in Amsterdam so had to try it out. We got there at 3 pm on a weekday, also this was in mid September. There was only one other customer there but by the time we left the restaurant was half full so we got there at the right time. For food we ordered a beef kapasalon. This was great, the fries were cooked to a crisp, the cheese amazing, meat flavorful and we had the bottle of garlic sauce at our table so could not ask for anything more. Large portion as well!

Food: I was told on social media thst this was a great spot for kapsalon and it was fine. I ordered a big portion which was way too much for me but it still tasted pretty good. Service: They made a mistake with my order by adding salad but then corrected it instantly which was extremely nice and helpful. Atmosphere: a bit muted considering it was a Sunday evening at 22:00

If you are looking for the best kaapsalon in Amsterdam look no further! Consistently the best chicken kaapsalon I have tried. I go all over and the large portion is amazing for 2 ppl. Garlic and hot sauce takes it to another level. It's hot but in a great way. You will love it and be full. It's not fancy formal but it's also not McDonald's. It's casual and consistently delicious!

Very big portions, delicious chicken and fresh toppings. The cheesy sauce was too much for me and made the dish a bit greasy and salty for my liking but overall it was good. I would definitely go back to try something lighter.

Good kebab for amsterdam. I had a durum, which was a good size, fresh vegetables and nice meat. Very fast service. Unfortunately not yet at the level of german kebabs, but among the best i had in amsterdam.
