Efes - Review - Spitalfields - London - The Infatuation

"Every area needs a reliable, excellent Turkish, and Efes is the one to go to in Spitalfields. It's a Turkish institution on Brick Lane that's been serving families, drunk revellers, and pretty much anyone in need of some seriously good meats and salads for years now. Mixed grill and cold mezze are essential, plus enough warm bread to sink a ship. This place is almost permanently busy and buzzy so don’t expect the most attentive service in the world." - Jake Missing

The atmosphere at Efes really stands out with warm lighting, tidy interiors, and a welcoming energy that instantly puts you at ease. The team here clearly takes pride in what they do. Every visit feels consistent with friendly greetings, quick seating, and attentive service throughout. You can tell there is real care in how everything is prepared and presented, whether it is the lamb, chicken, or shish options that seem to be favorites among regulars. There is a certain balance and attention to detail in what arrives at the table that says a lot about the people behind it. Nothing ever feels rushed, and timing always seems right. Another thing worth mentioning is the overall atmosphere. It is upbeat but still relaxed enough to enjoy a proper conversation. Even when it is busy, and it usually is, the staff keeps things moving smoothly without losing that personal touch. They manage to make a crowded evening feel calm and organized, which says a lot about their professionalism. Efes also has a strong sense of hospitality, from small gestures to how the staff checks in just enough to make sure everything is right. Whether you are stopping by for a quick meet up or a longer evening with friends, it is a place that leaves a good impression every single time.

I was pleasantly surprised by Efes, always looks busy but had been sceptical. However it was great, we were seated very quickly and moved us to a better table, we enjoyed all the food and it had a great atmosphere, vibrant but relaxed. Would recommend the lahmancun and the lamb chops.

I’ve been to Efes so many times on different occasions! It’s perfect for any group size - you can easily find tables for larger groups (though it’s best to book in advance). The food is delicious, well-prepared, and full of flavour, with generous portions - some main dishes are even great for sharing. They also serve a portion of bread and salad as a complimentary starter. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and they always do their best to accommodate you.

Amazing first visit! This was my first time at Efes Restaurant (Whitechapel) and it was such an amazing experience. The customer service was the best I’ve experienced they were so welcoming and even brought a few complimentary dishes (bread, sauces, salad, and tea at the end) which was such a nice touch. We had a lovely small chat with the waitresses, which made us feel right at home. The food was delicious, with generous portions. I would definitely recommend this place and will absolutely be coming back!

A recent, first time visit to this restaurant with family including our 11 year old grandaughter. The prices are reasonable and the staff were so friendly and accommodating to our varied, dietary needs. The food was so delicious, I am bringing some friends along for a social get together evening meal

I can't praise Efes highly enough. The restaurant is absolutely immaculate, pristine. The staff are very friendly and happy to see and serve you. The food is the best Turkish that I've had in London. If you're in the area you've got to try it!

I made a mistake. I was in the capital of cheap eats but for some reason I fancied a Turkish. Did I regret much. £16 for a hot mezze starter see pic. I appreciate it’s very close to central London. But do not charge me high prices and slack on quality. Also had the yogurt Adana which was on the smaller size compared to other Turkish restaurants. Won’t be back but FairPlay to them Hot mezze Yogurt Adana 2 drinks £50

We had a lovely night at Efes Whitechapel. The food was grilled to perfection.. loved the shish and adana! Great flavours. The sides complement the meal, and it was great value for money. Service was excellent, the staff really look after you 😊
