Where To Drink Wine In Woodinville - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Efeste is the winery that looks like an incognito brewery. From the tasting bar, you can get a glimpse into the wine-making operation, which is really just a bunch of big chrome tanks in a room (but is still very cool). Efeste is in a random part of town that has its own parking lot, so it’s not somewhere you’re just going to barge into on a whim - but it’s worth seeking out specifically because the wine is great. Especially the red blend and the Feral Sauvignon Blanc." - Aimee Rizzo

We went to Efeste last week and had an amazing experience! It was quiet as we came right around opening on a Thursday. The wine was fantastic- we had Big Papa and Nana and, while we loved both, Nana was so unique and lovely. We also ordered a little margarita pizza, which was delicious. I could see this being a really fun hidden gem to bring friends or to host a private event. We also loved that they were having a benefit for Leukemia & Lymphoma and would have liked to attend if we were in town that weekend. We’ll definitely be back and have considered their wine club too!

As a visitor to the area, I wasn’t aware of this wine brand. Family had set up a tasting session for us so I had no idea what to expect. The winery is located in the warehouse district of Woodinville and their tasting room is cozy, showing how it’s not a huge operation. There were windows into the wine production room which was nice. We each got a tasting which consisted of 2 whites and 4 reds. The first white, Adrienne, is the best white I’ve ever had! Had to go back for a bottle of this afterward. The reds (Final Final, Big Papa, and their estate Cab Franc) were beautifully balanced and complex. In short, I stumbled upon my favorite white wine here. Can’t wait until they get national distribution so I can have some over on the East Coast!

Google
Great winery with a nice selection of food. We had the antipasto platter to go with the wine tasting. Delicious! We also met the owner who gave us an impromptu tour of the fermentation tanks. Definitely worth a visit.

Google
Fantastic wines. Their reds have a lot of character! The pizza is also a nice treat. But the best thing is the people- the staff here are so kind and calm. It gives the whole place so much character and has kept us coming back.

Google
This is probably one of the best "all around" wineries I've been to in the Woodinville area. Great staff, great environment, great food, and of course great wine. It's hard to get all of those at one winery. I'll definitely be back!

Google
We were able to meet Helen and she was great. Their Reds had great taste for value. The pizza was even better than wines.

Google
An incredible wine tasting experience without breaking the bank. My wife and I visited various wineries during our visit to Seattle and this was our favorite one. The staff was friendly and helpful (don’t remember her name but she was super cool) and the wine was delicious and incredible value for the money. You can spend ten times more for a Napa wine but you won’t get a better wine. Check out their wines “big poppa” “final final” and “Jolie Bouche”. All are outstanding. We will be back.

Google
Most of this is NOT enjoyable wine. It's an after-work-hours inexpensive wine bar. And if it were labeled as a bar that serves cheap wine to people looking to just get tipsy after the work-hour it perhaps deserves 3.5 stars. The first 3 wines I was poured I'd never want to put in my mouth again. The Nana, Petit Verdot, and Big Papa raised the score one star for me.

Yelp
The Efeste tasting room in the Woodinville industrial district was a wonderful surprise. The building is a bit hidden and parking can get full. They have a patio area with covering and indoor seating. For our visit, we opted to sit indoors and take a break from the heat. Staff were very friendly and confirmed our reservations and seating. This tasting room does have a kitchen, pizza oven, and offers various bites to pair with their wines. They also have a frosé machine featuring their Oldfield Estate Rosé with fresh strawberry purée and a Pinot Grigio with an Aperol float. Their wine tasting line-up features 2 whites and 4 reds. We ordered a bottle of their Big Papa Cabernet Sauvignon, Rosé Frosé, Pinot Grigio Frosé with Aperol, and a pepperoni pizza to share. The pizza was delicious. Cripsy thin crust and freshly made. The Cabernet Sauvignon was robust, earthy, and notes of fruits and spice. This wine paired well with the pizza. The frosé was refreshing and the aperol float made for a wonderful summer drink. Service was top notch. Water refills were frequent along with check-ins on our experience. Efeste also has a Sodo tasting room and both locations are offering a special called Wine and Dine Duo. The special price is $30 and wine pours are the Adrienne, Babbit, Paulie, Ceidleigh. We'll definitely return for a proper round of tasting and maybe explore a membership.

Yelp
This winery is an absolute favorite! It has it all! Good wine, great food, fantastic staff, and a fun atmosphere! You get the benefit of great wine, without the typical stuffy winery feel. They are fantastic with kids, and are so warm and welcoming. They remember you when you go more than once and it is a totally family feel! I have been a member for years and will continue to do so! The seating could be a little more comfortable, although if it was, I'd maybe never leave!

Yelp
I went here as a stop in Woodinville before continuing onwards for a small road trip. This place has a warehouse type of ambience, fairly lowkey, with wine tastings at $25 and pretty nice food options. My friend and I splitted one wine pairing and got the pancetta pizza. The wine pairing had a good amount of alcohol (first pour was just on one glass, but subsequent pours on both glasses, so they might have made a mistake and gave us 1 pairing each, which was a nice touch). In addition, they offered us a "sample" of the Feral sauvignon blanc that was quite delicious and very well priced for a bottle ($25), and the sample is not even a splash, it was like half a glass of wine. We also wanted to consider another type of bottle, to which the server graciously offered another half glass to let us "sample." Additionally, the pizza was extremely good - the crust is thin crust and the oven must be amazing, as it was very crispy throughout. I loved the caramelized onions along with the meat for the pizza. One pizza was enough to share for 2 people for a nice accompaniment to the wine tasting. They have won 2 customers from this visit. I know there are so many options in Woodinville, and a lot of them are at this price range or less, and a lot of them are more popular than this, but don't overlook this place!

Yelp
What a delightful wine tasting room! The customer service was outstanding and everyone was so friendly. Food and wine were amazing. We will be back soon as we had such a wonderful time

Yelp
We had reservations, but when we arrived, the restaurant was surprisingly empty. The back hall was booked for a private event, which made things quite noisy. We opted for the wine tasting for $25, which was decent but nothing exceptional. The selection included one Chardonnay, one rosé, and three reds. Overall, they were just okay--none were enticing enough for me to consider buying a bottle. By the way, they also have a location in SODO.

Yelp
We came here for a private party after closing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Sauvignon Blanc was excellent! The charcuterie boards were also quite good.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Fantastic wines....these are some the finest wines in Washington state. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. However, I was a bit turned off when presented with a bill that expects me to tip for doing a wine tasting. I'd already paid $25 to taste and then a tip too.....I wouldn't do that.

Yelp
Up a hill, and into a seating area with maybe 6 or 8 tables. There is a kitchen area where we can get pizza and some nibbles. I am a fan of the wine and thought about joining but it's a ways from me. I forgot about that they have another room in Seattle.

Yelp
Had a great wine tasting experience with friends at the Efestē Woodinville location. This winery is not in the main center of Woodinville but it is close by and well worth a visit. Tasting reservations are easy to make via OpenTable. We sat outside at a table on the covered patio on a warm sunny afternoon and it was so nice. Our tasting experience started with an order of margherita pizza and a cheese plate to share. Both were tasty and a good complement to the wines. The wines we tried were all delicious and we appreciated the detailed descriptions provided of each by our server Taylor. She made our experience even better with her fun personality and wine knowledge. Several of us purchased multiple bottles of wine at the end. I'm looking forward to tasting more wines and attending events at Efestē soon!

Mary M.

Yelp
Fantastic service, great food, and wine! I loved learning about the family story and getting to know EFESTE's delectable wines. Maura, a tasting room associate, provided lovely service. I will be returning to enjoy more!

Kristen C.

Yelp
Efestē is a beautiful winery that's cozy and casual. The wine and food are delicious and reasonably priced, and the staff are excellent. My friends and I came here during my visit from out of town; I can't wait to return.

Yelp
Had a great tasting and delicious pizza and meat and cheese boards. The wife of the couple who owns the place visited with us and the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable!!

Yelp
Nice winery in the warehouse district of Woodinville. We did a flight and really liked 2 of the wines, so left with 2 bottles. Staff was very friendly and we also shared a small margherita pizza, which was very good. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE EFESTE. It is one of my most favorite wineries in Woodinville and they have the best wines, ambience and staff. Always so welcoming and friendly. Chef Jason is there on Thursdays and Fridays and he has some immaculate food. Check out their tasting room in Woodinville. Highly recommend the library wine tastings that are available today. My favorite go to wine is Final Final!

Yelp
Had the best experience ever with Jerissa! Joined the wine club, bought a T-shirt, and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Nice selection of wine, cozy main tasting room and a really nice larger space for big groups. My son purchased a tasting experience at an auction so our family spent a relaxing sitting around a table sampling wine and chatting while my granddaughter ran around the big space playing and exploring. The staff were informative, warm and welcoming.

Yelp
It is a nice quick getaway from the city to enjoy some tasty wine. The servers were kind. The wine was delicious. The food was awesome. They made the best of a situation with the regulations due to covid. I plan on returning to visit again.

Yelp
Two stars: - Server forgot to pour our last tasting (she was a nice server, just busy with a bunch of other groups). Tasting room seemed to be understaffed for the amount of patrons on a Saturday afternoon. -$20 for a tasting is more or less the amount wineries in Woodenville are charging, however, their wine wasn't for me. Lacked tannins. I should have spent $5 more and went to château St. Michelle, beautiful grounds! -Bees all over the place with dirty dishes left out. I had checked out Yelp before going to visit the place because I wanted to try different wineries but this place didn't look like the pictures online. I was disappointed in the experience and in the wine. I felt their pricing didn't warrant the quality of their wine either. Everyone's pallet is different and it's just not for me.

Rebecca K.

Yelp
Saturday afternoon at Efeste Wine room. 78 degrees, live music is amazing, wine is even better. great vibe. 5+ stars
google avatar

Dayna L.

Yelp
Pulling in we were hesitant as the exterior is not as appealing and lively as other wineries. The staff didn't seem to know much about any of the wines and came in quickly poured the wines and then rushed off. They all tasted like they'd been aerated too long and other places have a similar or lower tasting fee with a much better selection, more safety precautions, and a better atmosphere.

Jenny H.

Yelp
We gave an engagement party at the Tasting Room in Woodinville. The staff was incredibly helpful. The wines and beers (from their partner - Bellevue Brewery) were outstanding. The food cooked onsite by their chef was incredible, especially the bruschetta, JoJos, sliders and fire-roasted pizzas. Loved the venue - great ambiance.

Yelp
We three stopped in on a cold day. AMBIANCE: 4.0. high-end interior with kitchen and a view through a window onto the barrels. Crackers and cheese were set out. Seemed like a good place to have an organizational event. SERVICE: 3.0. no misses. WINE: 3.5. decent wines.

Yelp
Never got a chance to taste, it's 6:34. They stop seating for tastings at 6:30. The purple haired gal was brisk and stern about not making an exception. So much for the recommendation we were given. It's Saturday, is this how you do business?? I would think that you would seat somebody and politely ask them to finish by seven. Guess an abrupt "sorry bout it" is all we get. Maybe, when we're in town again, we'll reconsider stopping by, instead of going to Matthew's, as purple suggested.

Yelp
If the tv show Cheers were a winery.... What a delightful place. Hosted a dinner work party and our wedding reception with raving reviews from our guests. Friendly, delicious pizza fresh from the oven, has a full stock of my favorite wines on the planet. Seriously amazing red wines. Big Papa is my all time favorite red wine ever. Wine tastings are a regular event we look forward to thanks to this place. Indoor and outdoor seating. Excellent venue for events too.

Valkyrie T.

Yelp
I love this winery. It is a great place for tastings and snacks. If you can get Taylor as your server you will not be disappointed she is amazing at her descriptions! This was my second visit and Taylor was not there and we still had a good time. They had a promo for the holidays where you pay $35 and pick a cork with a number and then when that wine. It was fun and my friends both went home with a $60 bottle of wine! The food and wine is great!
google avatar

Katie E.

Yelp
Always a 5-star experience here. Everyone is always super friendly! They had an outdoor tent that was heated, tables were spaced out and there were yummy food options. The ambiance outside was nice, warm and cozy despite the rainy, cold weather.

Michelle W.

Yelp
My friend and I did a wine tasting here and Sophia was so nice, very knowledgeable about the wine and also gave us fun facts about the company. The wine and pizza were amazing. Such a fun atmosphere. I would highly recommend it

Carol F.

Yelp
Tasting Room is very cute, staff was very friendly and the wines are tasty. Problem I had was that I paid for three bottles of wine, my friend bought them since she was a wine club member and then I had them shipped to me. They only shipped me two bottles not the third and for whatever reason they won't respond to my emails to tell me what happened. So be careful if you order wine to have it shipped you may not get your full order.

Jan B.

Yelp
I made reservations here for 5 guests, and would give this place 1 star, we were seated in a isolated room in front of the mens bathroom. The main seating area and outdoor area had multiple tables, yet they chose to isolate our group. The pizza was very good, but service wasn't. I would not bring anyone here ever again.
google avatar

Rona L.

Yelp
My friends and I came here toward the end of the day. For $10, we were able to sample 6 different wines and were educated on each one. We asked questions, and regardless of the fact that they were going to close in a half hour, they let us enjoy our time and genuinely seemed to want to teach us. I probably learned more here about wine than I have in other tasting rooms and I really enjoyed my experience. They were unfortunately out of cheese, etc. by the time we got there, but that was really our faults for showing up so late. I left with a bottle of their Nana and I'm sure I'll be back for more.
google avatar

Alexis N.

Yelp
Came for a wine tasting on Saturday in the outdoor tent and had a wonderful time. The wine was enjoyable, especially the Riesling. The appetizers were certainly the highlight. The chef had a baked feta on the menu that day - I would eat it every day if I could.

Yelp
Ahhhhhhhhh Efeste' (sounds like F-S-T) how I love thee....let me count the ways: 1. Big Papa - This Cabernet lives up to its name! 100% Cabernet from 34 year old wines (some of the oldest in Washington State). Velvet in your mouth with flavors of lush blackberry and plum with a finish of spice and dark chocolate. 2. Final-Final - the last wine they blend...a 50% Cab/50% Syrah that equals 100% fabulous in my mouth! This wine showcases the best of both worlds which to me is beautiful Syrah & hearty Cabernet! Black fruit flavors with hints of fresh berries give way to a lush cola finish. 3. Ceidleigh Syrah - Pronouced "Kay-lee", the name means "celebration" in Gaelic and is the name of a waitress they met while on a research trip to the Barossa Valley in Australia. Full bodied, 100% Syrah with flavors of rich, ripe plum and dark cherries with earthy undertones. 4. Their fabulous Riesling & lovely Sauvignon Blanc! 2 of my favorite "summer whites", however I have found several reasons to enjoy them year-round.... 5. Their tasting room! They just finished up their tasting room in Woodinville and I have to say its just beautiful! A perfect place to share a glass with friends, don't forget to check out their pizzas from their wood-fired oven! Its open every Saturday now from 12-4, and if you are doing some tasting, this one is NOT to be missed! 6. Brennon & Patrick. Ok, so I am biased, I love these guys. Brennon is not your typical "winemaker" he's like your favorite tattooed cousin....except he's an amazing winemaker with a real passion for what he does and who is enthusiastic enough to share his knowledge with silly blondes like myself. Patrick is one-third of the ownership who is very personable...he goes out of his way to "deliver". He's always willing to show eager wine tasters a good time. 7, 8, 9, 10....This is my favorite new Woodinville winery. I cannot say enough about the winemaker, or the people behind Efeste'. Dare I say I believe its going to be the next big thing? Decide for yourself, but I hope to run into you one of these Saturday afternoons at the winery... chances are you'll fall in love with them too! Special thanks to them for being a big part of our latest Yelp Elite Event!

B J.

Yelp
OMG, worst experience EVER. We have wine tasted for decades.... This place is a joke. Why? Read on! We ordered a wine tasting flight. The menu specified exactly what wines would be poured. THEY DID NOT POUR THE WINES PROMISED ON THE FLIGHT MENU! Why? "Oh! We don't have an open bottle of __________" WTF?!??! They substituted other wines for two of the ones on the flight just because they didn't have "an open bottle." Do the math on this one yourself! Why would a winery not pour the promised wine because they didn't want to open new bottles!?!? I know this sounds ridiculous, because it is. For the second time in my entire life I didn't leave a tip! I can't make this up.

Charles R.

Yelp
Take an adventure out to Woodinville and hidden in the industrious quarter in a warehouse tucked between car shops, show rooms and textile artists you find a family with Italian roots who love wine and making it. Excellent wines. I would recommend their wine as a must try. Final-Final, Big Papa, their rosé was terrific with summertime vibes. They got a small menu as well with rotating bites with a guest chef. Tasty pairings for enhancing your experience. Cheers.

Brenna W.

Yelp
What the heck?! Paid for a tasting and the girl just didn't care about the experience. Shame on them! No conversation. Didn't talk about their wine. Minimal conversation. Did not compare to the other wineries. Could have been so much better! So disappointing.
google avatar

Lisa R.

Yelp
Really, really great place to taste the wines of WA. The people were very friendly and you have to love the family ran business. The wines were delicious, but steep. Fun place and would love to come back! P.S. If you're expecting gorgeous landscape, then you need to look elsewhere. This spot is located in a large warehouse.
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
Tucked away on a hill in the warehouse district by itself, this is a gem of a winery. Loved their Lola Chardonnay, smooth and creamy, a true Chardonnay. The red wines were very good also. FInal Final red is so good. Expensive wines, somewhat deserving of their price. Will visit again...
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
I had a couple of free wine tastings for Efeste, so finally decided to check it out! It's a little away from some of the other Woodinville wine tasting rooms, but was great! The usual price is currently $15 for a tasting of 6 wines. I asked if I could do an all red tasting, and the owner first said yes, but then told me to drink the white anyway and spit it out if I don't like it. Oh well! The service was great... we went to sit at a table away from the tasting bar, but they still were right there when it was time for our next wine. Great experience overall!

Arri B.

Yelp
I love this winery and was so glad to hear it was open. I was sad to see one of the staff- possibly a relative I'd assume - a young man with a gold chain - pouring and coming into close contact with patrons with no mask. Gave me very little faith about their commitment to our safety in this time. I won't be back and there are too many other wineries doing a good job of safety right now.
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
This was our favorite place on a lazy Thursday afternoon. Since this was a bit separate from some of the other warehouse wineries we thought we had gone down the wrong road but we found it and they had plenty of parking. You can not imagine how beautiful the testing room is from the outside. It has high ceilings a view of the wine tanks (?) Barrels and even their antique wine press. And the wine is just as spectacular. Tina was very nice and this was a great way to start our tour.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Love love love Efeste. Erica is amazing. We are always treated great here and the food by Chef Jason is delicious! We love all the wine here, have not had a wine we don't like. This has became our favorite hang out spot, I mean what more could you ask for!
google avatar

Carly L.

Yelp
So yesterday I headed out to the wonderful world of Woodinville to taste some wines for research for my blog. Yes, it's a rough life. Efeste and my employer, Brian Carter, process their wines in a shared space, so I had been up to the tasting area this summer, but before they were officially open. I came back! I had Daniel and Patrick pouring for me, and you can tell they LOVE their jobs. They both were fun to talk to and love to make anyone smile. The wines show that love, and that's a big thing to this wine princess. Must tries: Big Papa. This cab will knock your socks off. Its very smooth on the palette, and I could drink a whole bottle of this lush cab! I also loved the Jolie Bouche Syrah. I love the Syrahs with the earthiness on the nose, and not too much spice on the palette. This is one of those. As for the tasting room... it's fantastic. They have a kitchen in there, and a flat screen, benches, and the highlight to me was the old pics of the family of Efeste wrapped around the top of the tasting room. You can see the love that they all have for the wine, and they have had for a long time. This is a must see in Woodinville.
google avatar

Nicki W.

Yelp
You can not go wrong with any of their wines. Bold and exciting flavors that excite all of your senses but leave you with a soft smoothness in your mouth making you only want more! We dropped by their tasting room a month or so ago. It had just opened and what a cool place it is. From the outside looking in, it's just another industrial wherehouse, however you walk into to what feels like a NY loft. Complete with modern furnishings a kitchen area, tasting bar and large screen TV's. Let me just say that all of this is unneccessary because the true star here is their wines however it does make the experience even more enjoyable and am truly looking forward to a release party here! Not to mention that Patrick is an incredible and gracious host as was the rest of the team working there. Now onto the wines; I had the pleasure of enjoying the Final Final blend at Wild Ginger last night and can we say divine? Beautiful balance of Syrah and Cabernet. However upon our visit to their tasting room, we had the pleasure of trying and fell in love with the Ceidleigh Syrah of which we have taken home for more enjoyment. The Savignon Blanc had a crazy nose of Gooseberries but was an amazingly smooth and yummy finish. We also couldn't resist a bottle of the Big Papa Cabernet of which was almost sold out at the time so took our friends word and took home a bottle we can't wait to taste in the near future. I'll try to remember to give an update when that grand event occurs! I'm just a beginner with the Woodinville Winery Circuit however have been enjoying and loving wine since I was very young due to my French family history. Wine was the other holiday grape juice! From those wineries that I have experienced thus far, Efeste is very close to my first choice and I highly recommend for anyone to visit them and give their wines a try.
google avatar

Fred W.

Yelp
What a wonderful winery with people as good as good as their wine. I do belong to a number of wineries but this one is special. Their wines are all excellent. Their 2012 Final Final red blend is a terrific red. It's also a great place to just go and relax in their relaxed location.
google avatar

Colin K.

Yelp
My wife had a really unfortunate experience here. After a member of her group sent some constructive feedback, she received an exceptionally unprofessional email from the owner. I would never think to take my business anywhere that treats their clients like that, especially when there are so many options in Woodinville.
google avatar

Peter A.

Yelp
The two wines that stood out from this winery were the Big Papa and the Evergreen Riesling. I bought the riesling. The staff was very friendly and inviting. The winery is very well decorated and warm. I really enjoyed the environment and would likely return for another tasting.
google avatar

Josh H.

Yelp
I've been to Efeste quite a few times and have had mixed experiences here. They really do make a great syrah, but the tasting room experience is where they truly fall down. After the last experience, we will not be going back. The person pouring gave us little information about the first couple pours and couldn't be bothered to tell us about the third at all (not even the name). Save your time in Woodinville for places like Stevens, Mark Ryan, Darby, or JM.
google avatar

Morgan T.

Yelp
We came in over 10min before closing and they refused to serve us. Don't waste your time for clearly terrible customer service.
