I'm a HUGE fan of this place. The place is very simple and is essentially a takeout spot. There are only 3 tables inside next to the window.
I oder the chicken (half a dozen plump strips) greek salad ($6.50 + $2 for chicken) every time I go. It is layered with lettuce, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and LOTS of fresh feta, and it comes with a light vinaigrette-style dressing. I'm not a fan of dressings on my salad, only if the dressing is really good, which happens to be the case for Effie. All the vegetables are top quality and the pita bread is griddled, so it's crisp on top and warm. In fact, it's the best pita I've ever had). Their chicken entree is also amazing. Their rice is flavorful and both, the salad and the entree, are big portions. I always eat half and save the other half for the next day. I'm so happy when I know I'll have Effie's leftover. As soon as it started getting colder I'll try the famous Avgolemono (the classic Greek soup of broth, eggs, lemon juice, and rice.
Effie's Kitchen doesn't have a website, so it's sort of a hidden gem. But if you happen to be in Rozzie square do yourself a favor and try Effie's food. It's a must! :)
