Best Chili I ever had. Had the Salmon and I can not get over how tasty and delicious it was. Service was great. I loved eating here, it’s a 10/10

I'm giving it a two for the recommending from our server Jessica, of the bread and dip, and the Oberon beer that was really good . We're traveling in the area to visit family. Hubby is from this part of Michigan, and was telling me how he loved this place. So we ordered the clam chowder. That was super good. So after the great bread sticks, cheese and soup... we're really ready for the white fish that we ordered after that. The fish was ok. Really didn't have much flavor. The green beans and mashed potatoes were cold. Didn't eat either of them. She took back the mashed potatoes to get warm ones. But we were already done with our meal by then. Was so disappointing since my hubby was going on and on of how good it was. But that was over 15 years ago. Sorry. But this is one that we are still on the fence of if we'll be back. Hubby and others have said the chicken wings were delicious. Unfortunately that was what we originally wanted to order until we seen the fish. We'll be back in the area next year around this time. So hopefully if in the area.... we'll give it one more try for the wings. 😊

Fantastic! The food is very good, my husband and I eat lunch here a couple times a week. The wait staff are very attentive and friendly, they keep our drinks refreshed and bring our food hot. The menu has a great variety of delicious food and we try new dishes all the time. The owner Jeff greets us like we are old friends and takes very good care of us. A Clean and beautifully decorated restaurant!

It was extremely busy for lunch but the servers were doing great. The food was great. I gotta tell you the cheesecake dessert looked fabulous. It was a very generous portion and so creamy. Worth every penny and every calorie. Our server was fantastic! Pleasant, professional, definitely courteous and attentive to what we needed. Great place!

I was waiting to ask how my visit was. I have never been here and the food was absolute perfection.The bread sticks were fresh.Soft garlic key with a garlic butter cream cheese was amazing.The frozen Margarita was pretty watery and I was not happy with that but the steak dinner.Was perfection! The loaded baked potato was actually loaded and fresh and full of the toppings worth every penny!

Today was our first experience dining in and it was fantastic!! We can’t wait to come again and this will for sure be our new go to place! The ambience is warm and welcoming and Alisa was a fantastic server! She was on top of everything and was so friendly with our toddler. All of our food was delicious! We really loved the onion, and the flatbread was delicious, and the fish and chips were a hit! The bread is warm and yummy and it’s just a great vibe! We will definitely be back soon!

I couldn’t be more disappointed… We read the reviews and headed in for our first time, and our last. Didn’t get off to a good start and there was no redemption. The two hostess were too busy playing on their phones to greet us. But once the one finally looked up, it was clear that we were interrupting her evening. Once we were sat, by the third hostess, the dining room was less than 50% capacity. Yet we waited for quit some time for our server to arrive, whom checked in on the table sat after us first. No waters were ever offered or brought to the table. Sofa was flat and never refilled. Bang bang shrimp came out looking like soup, there was so so much sauce. The shrimp were 90 count (tiny) and overcooked to the point of being hard rubber. I tried two to be sure and pushed the dish away. When the salads show up, my dressing is packaged like a to go order and was so full it exploded on my shirt. Half the breadsticks were ok, the other half hard as rocks. So on to the main coarse, time for redemption. No. I ordered bacon wrapped fillet and my wife the alfredo pasta. Upon cutting into the fillet, I find the toothpick with my knife. Never removed before presentation and pushed in so far that I could not see it. Had to remove the bacon to find them. First steak was flavorless. At the least the second was cooked correctly (read- I’m too hungry at this point to not eat). My wife pushes here plate away, so I try it. The alfredo sauce is all parmesan and little cream, too thick to be a suace and was again enough “sauce” to be confused with soup. During all this our waitress has only been by to deliver food, never asking how we are doing. Never addresses that I sent back the shrimp or that my wife has also pushed her dish away. So I flag down the manger and explain our experience with the food and hostess, never mentioning the server besides the lack of waters. He assures me he will make it right on the bill. He makes sure to spread the gossip instead of owning the mistakes, now we are getting mean-mugged by ALL the staff members walking by. Server never comes back, never addresses us at all, only a glare as she passes us while we wait for the bill. So I paid for the steak, thankfully he comped the food we returned. Time is money, so I left a $6 tip too anyways. But in presenting the check he decides that arguing the points of our experience is the logical next step. Denies the soda is flat, tells us the bang bang is their best seller, and insists that the pasta is the way they always make it. My wife requests a to-go water, because she’s only eaten breadsticks and consumed flat soda. He brings back a quart sized clear soup container full of ice water with a lid! Claiming they don’t have to-go cups. Bro! There’s three reserved spot out front for only to-go pick orders, taking up the prime parking next to the door and adjacent to the handicap spots. What do you give the to go customers who order drinks!? I really tried. But I can’t not share. So many 5 star reviews I thought this was sure bet. Ah man, I forget to mention the music or the constantly flashing lights around the dining room. Whatever. Hope this was a fluke and y’all enjoy it, but we definitely did not.

We went to Nicks last night for the first time and it was wonderful! We had a larger party of adults and children so I called ahead when we got there they had our table waiting. It was in an area that was perfect for the children. Our server Cody was amazing! He was kind, patient and attentive. He interacted with all of us including the kids. Our pizza and breadsticks were wonderful. The garlic spread/dip was so yummy! Our overall experience was wonderful and we will be back! Thank you!

The fettuccine Alfredo is awesome! And of course, the basket of bread with garlic butter is to die for. Every year for my birthday I request to go here.

It is very sad to me. My friend was trying to get help with a memorial service light lunch from E J Nicks, maybe a side dish to honor the unexpected loss of family member. We are older folks on a small income and they couldn't help? Said they never do that. It's heartbreaking to know that an established eatery has no compassion. One day, the owners will be old too. But it's not a good way to live. Hopefully this will not happen to them.

Can't miss out on the amazing hot and fresh breadsticks from here. I wish I could come back every day for those. We also loved the fried feta appetizer that came with pesto. The pesto and breadsticks went really nice together. I wasn't a huge fan of the garlic dip for the breadsticks because it mostly tasted like cream cheese but my husband enjoyed it. I liked how their Greek salad came with beets. The dinner portion was very large. I enjoyed the added on salmon- also a big portion. It's cozy in here and the servers were all excellent.

I've gone here for 25+ years but now that I don't live around there, it's great to see it's stayed just as good as ever. Huge portions, great gluten free options and safety, cost is decent and staff is super friendly. Missed the 2 for 1 pizza day but I bet that's pretty busy. Breadsticks are amazing

Came here for my mom's bday with a group of folks. Server was very friendly and took great care of us. The food was "ok" - it just was not my thing. My sister and I shared an entree and we appreciated how the Kutcher split the entree on two plates for us. However, the fish was sautéed and just tasted very oily/buttery - like they really added a lot to the pan while sautéing. I had hoped to have had a more healthy meal but it gave me heartburn from all the grease.

EG Nicks Has been around forever. The food is pretty good and the service is usually OK. I can't really tell if it's a nice restaurant or a damn restaurant from the design. I get it really more of a middle of the road rating. You'll get a decent meal at an ok price

We rolled into Lapeer late on a Sunday evening around 8:00 PM and the kitchen was still open so we hit this main road spot. The service was good, menu had a broad selection of bar foods, apps, and fare. We got shrimp and wings for apps to start and the wings were great. There was seating for a large group of 6 and lots of different seating choices- Overall it was a good meal, good service and we would stop in again.

Everything I read about this place is true! We got seated immediately on a Saturday night with very friendly employees. The waiter showed up right away to get our drink order. There are so many great sounding items on the menu it was hard to decide. I ended up going with the plank white fish, and it came with duchesse potatoes and a side of vegetables. My friend ordered the salmon dinner, and he said it's probably the best salmon he's ever had. His dinner came with rice and vegetables also. Both of our meals came with choice of soup, salad, or coleslaw. The salad choices were mixed greens, Caesar salad and another option. He ordered the coleslaw and he said it was awesome and I ordered a side salad and it was huge. As soon as you sit down, they give you a basket of breadsticks that are like soft bread, and so delicious we had to stop ourselves from eating it so we wouldn't get full. I look forward to coming here again to try other options because everything was absolutely delicious over the top and I rarely get a five star review

Driving down Main Street in Lapeer, you'll see many fast food places, with family diners interspersed. You'll be excused for thinking this is a diner, since it has that look. But, E.G. Nick's is far more than that. The selection and quality set it apart from the eateries that surround it. There are a dozen excellent beers on tap; a 20 ounce Upperhand IPA, a powerful Michigan brew, only costs $8. The Moscow Mules are strong yes smooth, for $9. While a diner may offer a bread basket (as rare as those are these days), E.G. Nick's provides freshly-baked breadsticks without you having to ask. While a diners have a variety of soups, the quality here is far beyond any diner. The minestrone soup is like a chunky, savory stew, light on the noodles and heavy on the vegetables. We ordered a quart to go before we finished the bowl, and decided to order a second quart before we left. Tacos are available with either chicken or fish, and fried, baked, or blackened. The blackened whitefish is flavorful and light. One good thing that E.G. Nick's kept from their diner roots is the massive portions. You get 2 large tacos with a mildly spicy ranch, and a mountain of crispy, Rally's style fries. I would normally save half of a big plate like this for another meal, but it was so good that I ate all of it. Coleslaw was served with the tacos. This is how all coleslaw should be: not too sweet, not too creamy. The salmon in the salmon salad is baked with a brown sugary glaze, and it's substantial. The salad Itself is also massive, with surprisingly mild blue cheese and dried cranberries. When have you had any of that at a diner? The Black Tie Pasta is a huge bowl of creamy bow tie pasta with tortellini and blackened chicken. The Alfredo sauce is excellent, with a nice roasted garlic flavor. I honestly can't think of many places with a better Alfredo sauce (and no, Olive Garden, I'm not thinking of you). The service was prompt and friendly, and the food arrived at the table not long after we placed the order. The whole experience is so good that it's easy to forget that this isn't an upscale, trendy restaurant. But, who cares when the food and the service is this good?

So the breadsticks and the soup were good, but when we got our entrées, I had the sirloin tip rare in the meat was brown on the inside and it wasn't cooked. It was just old meat and she had the tenderloin tips. It tasted like someone cooked a steak and rinsed it off and heated it back up in the microwave And I'm pretty sure they put Italian dressing on my Greek salad.

While I had a fun time with a friend this was recommended to us and so we drove 30 minutes. It was a nice diner good place. Alcohol cocktail drinks were weak and lacked flavor. Breadsticks are "their thing" and they were only okay. Server was incredibly friendly and chatty.

Always consistent and delivers great Italian/American food pizza is awesome burgers awesome have not had a bad meal there ever.

We were in town and visiting family that booked the private room at EG Nick's. We arrived pretty early but everyone there was accommodating in getting the private space ready for us to eat. Our waitress, Karli, was incredibly sweet and helpful in providing us out-of-towners with food recommendations. We all really enjoyed the breadsticks and the garlic parm sauce that went with it. For my entree I had the black tie pasta, and Caesar salad. My husband really enjoyed his entree, Jeff's favorite. Everything was really good and filling. Great service and would recommend if you're in the area.

I was surprised. It's so very much better than ten years ago. :) We ate there four times in the last two weeks. Very generous servings and best of all everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The burgers are really good (but cooked a shade more than ordered, that's okay). Salads are really big, onion rings are fabulous and ungreasy, fish dishes were tender. I don't usually see this consistency at any restaurant of this price range over four visits. The fish tacos could benefit from crisping the tortillas. I often wonder if the founder used to live in Ann Arbor and had a Blazer. When we bought it from him, he mentioned he wanted to move to Lapeer and start a tavern.

My favorite restaurant in Lapeer!!! Food is always fantastic, service is always just as great. The atmosphere is cozy and has a great ambiance!!!!

Absolutely the best example of delicious food we GM have had the pleasure of experiencing in a hot minute!!!! We want to go to the lake inn but thankfully they were on a wait m. We chose to head in to town based on Yelp review and we could not have been happier. We are going to be adding in to our date night mix. The lobster stuffed mushrooms in a lobster sauce was amazing and the bread with garlic yummy dip!!! Wow I also had an absolutely delicious pasta dish but the name escapes me!!! Just eat there!

Had dinner with another couple on Valentines Day. It was very busy and the food came out quickly and was very good. The star of the evening was Paul T. our waiter. He was efficient, engaging, and was on top of everything. Checked with us often and kept our drinks filled. 5 stars for Paul. Best service I have had anywhere in a very long time.

Love the B1G1 Pizza on Mondays! Great pizza!! their lasagna is my go to meal there with a side of their delicious meatballs!

Pretty decent. Sometimes it's excellent food sometimes it's just ok. I do love their Pizza, and the apple orchard salad is always something I will order, it never disappoints.

I love e.g. Nick! Have been coming here for decades. I will say the au jus and gravy were a little salty last time I had them however, the rest of the menu is awesome and I forgive them for their saltiness because generally the food is exceptional. The salt and I'll be back. Service has always great and love the restaurant atmosphere.

used to go to Eg's once a week service was going downhill food wasn't nothing to write home about, has been 3 years - finally took the chance went back last night 9-27-2024 ordered food, husband ordered a drink Hurricane, they had no clue what it even was Im guessing they googled the ingredients, drink came it was horrible!! so strong you couldn't even drink it, it sat on the table the whole time food came frozen chicken strips breaded shrimp was nasty as it gets cold soggy breading she never asked if the drink was ok that was sitting there full the whole time? Never filled waters place is a show. owner came out to sit at bar with the girls chit chatting never even looked around to see if anyone was having an issue I looked at him and motioned for him to come never even paid attention to us. never going back

Celebrated my birthday dinner here last week and was pleasantly surprised that they offered a $9.00 discount when two entrees were ordered. All four of us enjoyed dinner with selections of fish, greek salad, breadsticks of course and ribs. We were all very pleased with our selections and felt that the restaurant offered a good value. Excellent courteous service was provided by Paige. We all agreed to visit this restaurant again in the future. The daily happy hour specials look extremely promising!

We stopped on the reviews we saw here. I had the great salad and it was great. Although I ordered the shrimp with and they were good but not fresh. DH had the bbq chicken flatbread and it was perfectly appointed with the right amount of bbq sauce. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. We ate in their banquet room and it was quiet and warmer. It's always too cool in restaurants in the summer. We'd eat here again.

Over rated and over priced. Ordered pasta for dinner asked for Italian dressing on the salad. Waitress replied we don't have italian. The closest we can come is agreed dressing. REALLY?

We had a very delicious meal & our waitress was very attentive. We sat outside with my daughter and her boyfriend. I will definitely be back the Greek salad was amazing. The fried feta cheese is unbelievable, the calamari was delicious too!!

Heard a lot when moved to area .. be honest was a little let down...high expectations to be let down ... took parents to dinner.. food was not great ... will give another try .. maybe just a bad day

E.g., Nicks, is first class all the way, the food is excellent. The staff is excellent and the owner, Jeff, makes you feel like you're related what tremendous people I highly recommend this restaurant. It's always super clean in there and well taken care of their prices are highly competitive and affordable.

E G Nicks has been one of my favorite places to eat for many years and continues to be one of my favorite places in Lapeer for lunch or dinner! I especially love the blackened chicken salad, the Greek salad, and the lasagna! The breadsticks are outstanding as well.

Excellent lasagna Paige G was superb and very attentive the ambience is quaint and warm Margaritas were very well enjoyed I'll be back !!! Even the busboys were good Easter Sunday was just as fabulous Chicken Cordon Blue was delicious ....Karley was also very attentive and friendly

I had the salmon and the cabbage soup, we also had fried feta as an appetizer.... Everything was so good!!! Our waiter was attentive and brought our drinks as we were just finishing our last... Enjoyed the food and the experience...

Had a celebration dinner for my mother's birthday and everything was top notch! The food was excellent, the server did a perfect job, and even the hostess team made sure to play along for the suprise party waiting for her at the table. The CHEESECAKE!!! Oh my goodness! Thank you EG Nicks! It was a perfect evening!

This place was pretty good! I wouldn't recommend bringing kids here. We thought it would be a good place for a family but when we got our food we noticed it was a lot fancier than we expected and kids probably wouldn't like it. Still super good though. Mac and Cheese could use more cheese, still downed it though!

If you are worried about Covid precautions, don't go. Bartender never wore a mask or shield the entire time we were there (approximately 1 hour). And they are over 25% capacity. Our table was within 6 feet of another. The minestrone was full of veggies but needed a tad more seasoning. The rest of our groups food was good (pasta and burgers). Our waitress was attentive.

Ordered Catering for 4 th July party and food was just as good as eating at restaurant. Food was ready on time and family loved the BBQ rids, BBQ Chix wings, pulled pork, baked beans and Mac n cheese. It was a feast and portions are large, so enough for second meal.

Fabulous food and service. Worth the drive for sure. The food is consistently delicious and they make a great martini. Can't say enough for our server been blessed to have twice in a row.

Only been a couple of times, but the food was great. Serving sizes more than I could eat. People were friendly and got the order right. That seems to be a huge problem with some businesses these days.

We had dinner here last week. The food is always great, but our waitress was also amazing. Her name is Stephanie - she was always smiling and upbeat even when we told her we wanted to share an entree. She was so attentive, checking back to see if we needed refills on drinks, or more butter, etc. It was refreshing to see someone so willing to be of service, especially after we learned she has two "special needs" children. We were so impressed with her!! We need more like her in this world!

Great good. Excellent service. reasonable prices. Love the chicken kabobs, but my favorite is the chicken fettuccine Alfredo. Enough for at least two meals.

A Lapeer staple! Comfortable restaurant with great food and friendly, helpful staff! And their pizza is amazing!!!

First time diner and had an awesome experience on the patio for lunch. Had the pulled pork sandwich with no bread and substituted asparagus for the fries. Awesome food and service. I will definitely be back.

This place is great. Complimentary Breadsticks are addictive. The super salad is my favorite. No place can I get a salad like this. Very good value as well. Comfortable seating and great waitstaff. I recommend this place to anyone that will listen to

Very disappointed in the blackened chicken salad. They must have a new chef??? Four in our party ordered it and all four bc salads were dismal....cold chicken fresh out if the fridge, dredged in way too much cajun spice, very little salad/veggies for a $12.99 salad. Maybe they were running out of salad fixings?? On a good note, our server was competent, friendly and efficient. We eat here quite often, but I won't be getting THAT salad again!

We come to EG Nicks often now since moving to Lapeer!! But tonight's pizza was a big disappointment!!! :(
