"Egg N’ You is a shining example of a classic American diner. This spot has been around since 1956 and has the kind of countertops that have been sanded smooth by over half a century of elbows. But nostalgia aside, Egg N’ You still holds up as a reliable place for affordable breakfast combos, endless coffee refills, and a cheesy patty melt on crispy rye. The wide-ranging menu—which includes stuffed cabbage, pot roast, and pancakes—could serve as a syllabus for diners everywhere. There are enough loyal regulars to ensure a wait for weekend breakfast. And for reasons relating to a loose “egg” theme, the bar is decorated with a row of chicken figurines." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo

Google
I absolutely love this place, particularly for breakfast. The pancakes are the best I’ve had and the short stack is enough for two people! I love my bacon crispy, and they sure now had to deliver. Everyone is incredibly friendly and after a while, they’re almost as if they’re your friends, actually they are

I’ve been frequenting Egg & You Diner for decades. My parents used to take me when I was a child, and now I bring my daughter. I’m a bit of a self-proclaimed poached egg snob, and over the decades, I do not believe I’ve ever had a poached egg from here that was any less than perfect. Try the eggs Benedict; you’ll be glad you did. Lately, I’ve been having their omelets, which are also stellar.

Google
Amazing food and amazing service. From the outside it doesn't look like much but I promise you definitely worth the stop. Joy was amazing. Never left us with a dirty dish on the table or our drinks not being filled. Very polite as well. If she's working you should definitely request her. Not that I'm saying the other servers are not great, but every time we have dined with that restaurant ,she has been our server.

Google
Joy is so wonderful as a server I just had to let her know. If you get her you'll be lucky. The food came out quick and was delicious and hot.

Google
When I’ve been craving some good biscuits and gravy and finally found that spot. Over all very enjoyable experience. Waitress were attentive but not to the point you mouth so full and ask “how are things ?” I see myself come back again

Google
Very authentic place for breakfast—feels like stepping back into the 70s, which is a cool vibe. The place is clean, and the service is friendly and efficient. But unfortunately, the food just doesn't live up to the rest of the experience. I've tried it three times, hoping for better each visit, but each time I was disappointed. The taste just isn't there. Great atmosphere, but the food needs serious improvement. Thats my point of vivew!

Google
Fantastic food and fantastic prices. The portions are plentiful and you definitely get your money's worth. If you're in fort Lauderdale, you don't have to spend a lot of money on breakfast. You can go to this place and eat where the locals eat!!!!

Ate here and had great food and wonderful service. The people that work there are quick witted and extremely hospitable. I will definitely come back, again.

Yelp
Best diner in the area for breakfast. All of the servers are welcoming and friendly. The inside has what seems to be the original decor with the booth seating. The food is great every time and portions are generous. This is the only breakfast place that actually makes their hash browns crispy and has biscuits as a side option. Both are delicious and super filling.

Yelp
We went on a Sunday at lunchtime. They are only open until 2pm. The free parking is in the back along the canal. There are booths, tables and a counter to dine at. I had the tuna salad. It was a large portion and served on iceberg lettuce. It came with freshly sliced cucumbers and tomatoes. A side of super sweet coleslaw came with it. My friend had a 3 egg omelette. It came with choice of potato and we go fries. They are steak fries and tasty. It came with a biscuit too. My friend is on keto and there were no substitutions available for the carb loaded sides. They have many $13.99 meals that the server said are homemade. She said they make their own mashed potatoes.

Yelp
Going to the Egg n You diner is like going back in time (think Grandmother) when perhaps life was simpler. There are so many regulars here it is like a family reunion. The servers are very friendly regardless of who they serve (this place has such a mixed crowd). The ambiance is cerca 1950 and probably not much as changed in the place since and maybe this is a good thing. It is diner food and those eggs and hash browns can only be cooked so many ways.

Jonathan N.

Yelp
Classic diner. Diner food, diner ladies and diner people. It's a diner. If you want a diner experience go.

Kenneth C.

Yelp
Breakfast was great and inexpensive. For under $20 I had eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, pancakes and coffee. Balancing nutrition and budget while I'm traveling is super important as a bodybuilder and I can definitely say that I'll be back here for the rest of my trip. Highly recommend for breakfast!!!

Yelp
There's something truly wonderful about a timeless diner that holds onto its charm. It's comforting to know that amidst changing times, some things remain constant. We snagged a table for three in the cozy back dining room, where hot coffee and delicious food awaited us. The service was top-notch, adding to the overall experience. Really, what more could you wish for? And let's talk about the pricing - incredibly fair and reasonable. This gem has won us over, and you can bet we'll definitely be returning for more!

Yelp
This was my second time eating at Egg & You Diner. It's important for folks to understand that this is an old school diner, and may not be a place for those who prefer frills and five star experiences. Both times, the staff have been great. Our server today was very sweet and there were several locals in our section who seemed to have a friendly relationship with her. I recommend them if you are looking for a quick, but filling breakfast with inexpensive prices.

Sanya H.

Yelp
I love by here and haven't been. Why?? Who knows?? Big miss by me. This place is fantastic. I had stuffed cabbage it was exactly like my mom used to make it was perfection. My family has burgers which they raved about. My nephew and i split a pancake. Never again from now on i get mine done. Tasted like it was cooked on same griddle with bacon best pancake ever and hammer was awesome

Yelp
I've waited a couple years to write my review of this spot. With that being said, I came to Egg & You Diner years ago once. It was about 8-12 years and I forgot the name of it until I saw the sign again, the famous chicken sign outside. Then I remembered I came here from Miami. Today I got a chance to stop by since I have a relative in town. I know this spot is a staple of Fort Lauderdale for many years. Their prices have changed with the times but they have remained so so reasonable compared to so many breakfast spots around the area. Their service AND food are amazing ! They're quick to sit you and serve and the servers just want you to have a pleasant experience. Our experience was so pleasant, my toddler got a little Valentine goodie bag thanks to our lovely server. It was unexpected just like the cute Mickey ears the cook made for him. I highly recommend this spot for a quick and cost effective breakfast AND lunch. They do close at 2pm, so please , keep that in mind !

Sam S.

Yelp
Great food. Very affordable and overly warm and friendly staff. My only complaint is that another diner had their cell phone ringer going off constantly but of course that is not the restaurants fault. I am definitely going to go back. Their specials menu looks delish and they serve their full menu all day!

Michele B.

Yelp
This is a great diner, with traditional breakfast/brunch offerings . Pancakes are especially nice. The eggs Benedict, my favorite, are nice though the sauce over them could be more traditional rather than this weird, cheesy, not very tasty sauce. The hash browns are great. The service is excellent: friendly and efficient . The decor is fun and what you'd expect for the ambiance of a diner.

Loretta S.

Yelp
Food is very good and excellent service! It's a great place to go for brunch or breakfast!!! I always sit in Janet's area. She's amazing!!!

Ricardo B.

Yelp
This place has been open for quite a while. Great location with both metered (right outside the diner) and free parking (inside a fenced area just a few steps away). As you enter, you don't appreciate the size of the place. I mean, it looks small from the outside but it sits about 120 people or so. We sat next to the window in a booth and then realized they had regular tables in a different part of the diner. The booth was perfectly fine. The place is clean, and the service was friendly and fast. We were surprised when our food came out that fast after ordering. You have a ton of food to choose from: sandwiches, and a variety of breakfast items, and meals. We got a tuna melt which was very good and a ham and cheese omelette with white toast which was fine. Good prices too so we will definitely be coming back to try their other items.

Karen R.

Yelp
Love this diner! It's retro-cute. The service is outstanding. The eggs Benedict are fantastic, just too much food. Great to share.

Marc L.

Yelp
We try to stop by Egg & You for breakfast as often as we can. We will normally have different breakfast options and they are always great. Janet has been so awesome over the years and she has seen our son grow up. We always leave there and stop in to the Pond Hoppers British store next door. It's a win-win situation for me.

Zachary G.

Yelp
Local diner! The food is better than chain diners and the like. The diner has a very local community and is well priced. There are many more options on the menu beyond breakfast and I have yet to have a meal I did not enjoy.

John A P.

Yelp
Ran across this spot en route to something else, the name got my attention so I decided to try it for a rare breakfast, glad I did. Everything done well, was even able to get grilled fish for breakfast (most diners find such challenging, go figure!), and a mimosa (or 2). I definitely will return, and based on the activity I am not alone in my appreciation.

Wen S.

Yelp
First time here and I'm late on the review but got a little busy. Post workout came here with my better half. Sheila was super nice. It's your typical old school dinner which I actually enjoy. We sat at the bar and the food was served quick. We were HUNGRY!! Lololol... not bad overall. No outdoor seating sorry but it is a pretty big place inside. I had the oatmeal with egg whites. My muscle man had his eggs with potatoes. Overall it was a good breakfast and best part, I had it with my favorite person: my hubby/love.... :)))) (hearts) For sure others to try this spot when in the area.

Sarah M.

Yelp
It's hit or miss here. I've been many times, and the food is always decent (it's diner food), but your experience truly depends on your server. I've had some really great service here in the past, however my most recent time here I asked what the soup was, and was told it's a thick chicken n dumpling soup. Perfect! Went ahead and ordered that. About 10 mins later, the waitress comes over and places chicken noodle soup (brothy) in front of me and said "sorry got the soup wrong, but here's chicken noodle" and walked away. Didn't even ask if I was ok with the change....... Probably the most odd encounter I've had? She eventually came back, and I told her thats not what I ordered and didn't want it, and she gave me big attitude...... I left pretty weirded out and haven't been back since.

Timothy K.

Yelp
Classic diner in Fort Lauderdale for decades. Parking meters now but in far back is egg n you lot. Hard working ladies taking care of customers. Collection of roosters on shelf at counter. Lots of Blueberries and hot off the grill cakes!

Lou R.

Yelp
I have been going here for about 10 years and highly recommend it. It's an old feel diner with good food, impeccable service by experienced waitresses who most have been there for years. The owner is very caring towards her customers and employees which I respect in any owner of a business.

Doug S.

Yelp
Throughly enjoyed the food. I was randomly driving and noticed all of the folks entering and leaving. Something told me that this was the real deaL. Great food. Very busy. Hand lunch and dinner to go. Stuffed cabbage! Delicious

Jaclyn K.

Yelp
Egg N You has been around since the 50s and still has the cozy, at home charm. It is definitely a staple of south Florida. It is always packed, but the staff moves quick and knows their stuff, so there's usually a table that opens up quickly. You can sit at the bar, grab a booth, or sit at a table in the dining room. The decor feels like a mid-west country home. It has wallpaper and glass chickens all along the ledges of the walls. Very down to earth atmosphere where you can have some home style cooking. My husband always orders their country fried chicken which comes with hash browns and toast. I love their Spanish omelet--it has a sweet red sauce served warm over the eggs. I've never had anything like it anywhere else, but it is delicious! They have a small menu of beer, wine, or mimosas, so if you want to jazz up your meal, you can. Egg N You really makes you feel welcome and like you're a part of the family. You can tell that the staff operates as a unit and have all been there a long time. While there are pay meter spots outside of the restaurant, they have a lot just to the west of the parking lot. If you haven't been to Egg N You, put on some casual comfy clothes and go feel at home!

Dana B.

Yelp
Went with a large group after a wedding rehearsal run through. Service was great, our server got everyone's order correct with no issue. I chose lunch, I love a good Turkey club , however I was very disappointed. Was hoping for Turkey deli meat but it was thick thick sliced Turkey that was not good between the texture and flavor. Most people ordered breakfast which looked much better than what I had ordered. I think if I did ever go back I would go for the breakfast. Parking is a little confusing but there is a free gated lot behind the plaza that is free .

P C.

Yelp
Nice diner, good food reasonably priced nice waitresses nothing fancy just good old fashion American breakfast recommend

Patricia R.

Yelp
The soft work there were very rude however we got sat very quickly. The food was mediocre nothing really outstanding about this place although it recommends by a lot of locals it was average. To me it could be any other mom and pop shop and I would be fine with it I was just very displeased with the attitude and the way we were treated. It took quite some time for them to even come to our table to take our order even though the food came out rather quickly. I don't ever think that I was in the area like I said it would be average.

Roger M.

Yelp
Went kayaking nearby and was hungry after. Nice place with an old school vibe, service was great and the burger was solid. Wish they gave a bit more fries with the burger but good meal none the less. They also had special daily deals.

Julie F.

Yelp
This place has been here forever. Really. My ex in laws used to come here regularly. One lady has worked here for more than 15 years! I guess it's a diner "institution" in Fort Lauderdale. Years ago, I'd come here for breakfast. Today I came for a quick lunch before a movie. They do serve breakfast all day. But you can only get the blackboard breakfast specials until 11 a.m. After 11 am, they have other specials on a whiteboard, I came here with a girlfriend and we both ordered sandwiches. She got the veggie melt which she said was good but a bit dry. After trying it, she asked for some dressing hoping that would help. Her melt came with some anemic looking French fries. I just got a tuna salad sandwich on rye bread. There was iceberg lettuce and tomato slices on the sandwich. It too was dry and I asked for some mayonnaise on the side. But the rye bread was real deli style, not the soft rye white bread version. The sandwich was large and I only was able to eat one half. I'm not sure this was the best representation of this restaurant. I think with a name like Egg in it, that I should have ordered eggs... or at least a breakfast item. I know I would have been happier. Meanwhile, we loved our waitress. She was miss personality plus. And it was lovely to have an actual conversation rather than a "fake" one of platitudes. A downside is that the parking spaces in the lot are now metered, but the meters do take coins as well as cards. At least there was ample parking when we got there.

Jeff F.

Yelp
Good old time dinner, good dinner food and good service and it's what you'd expect. I grew up with my grandfathers camera shop right next store.

Bryan R.

Yelp
They have been in business 65 years ! Congratulations. I wasn't sure what to try at this long standing restaurant, so I went for the eggs Benedict instead of the eggs Florentine. I found the hollandaise sauce to be on the plain side, no lemon zest to it. I also tried the biscuits & sausage gravy that were decent. If your in the area & want to have a decent breakfast, stop in.

Raveena G.

Yelp
You can't beat these prices! Quality diner food for a great price. Took me years to try this restaurant and I totally regret it. Next time I'm craving breakfast food, I'll definitely be back!

John E.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast food, charming great service. Cheese omelette with bacon: perfect!

Gary D.

Yelp
Perfect place to start your day, whether it begins at 7:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m., like me. :) Great comfort food; good and familiar with generous portions. By eating here often, thats one less thing you have to think about during your day, especially if you're a tourist from Southern California like me. I'll spend most of my evenings in a steakhouse; martini in hand, but I'm happy to eat every breakfast and lunch at the Egg and You Diner. Mostly booths; counter service as well. An added bonus is the mailbox next to the front door, where I can mail my postcards. Thanks for the great memories, beginning in 2004.

Thomas J.

Yelp
Stopped for a quick bite and was impressed with the food and the staff. Quick service. I had the scrambled eggs with cheese and ham. Great ham very hot I will be back

Mike C.

Yelp
Great breakfast place. On a weekend there's probably a wait, but it's worth it. Food is great quality and service is excellent. Would definitely recommend it.

Mike M.

Yelp
Good food, good service and good prices. Been going here for over 50 years. They all ways have good specials and free parking on the canal.

Andy V.

Yelp
I'm surprised I haven't reviewed Egg & You Diner. Located right on Federal Highway sometimes it's easy to miss because of how it's positioned on the highway, located in a strip mall, naturally, it kind of blends into its surroundings. Parking can somewhat be an issue. There are pay parking spots which kind of seems annoying to pay to park when you're going to eat, but in the back are spot designated just for diners. Space is limited so hopefully you get one. Also, hopefully people don't double-park so you can actually fit in the spot. inside the diner its a seat yourself type of situation. Of course there is the bar area for you to sit in. Plenty of tables and booths in the two room restaurant. Servers buzzing in and around constantly. Your drinks are served in those tiny plastic cups that most old-school diners have. The waitresses are all friendly. The booths are small, but I'm a big guy. At 6'6' I had an issue getting in and out of the booths because of the bar located underneath the table. The food is good. Tradition diner cuisine. I came in for breakfast naturally. They have those amazing hash browns that are pressed like the ones at Waffle House, but a bigger portion and tastier. I had a western omelet which was full of ham, green peppers and onions. Oh, and mounds of cheese. Great for my arteries. Rye toast on the side and I was set. Everything ran about $14 bucks (not including tip). The whole process was less than 30 minutes. I was in and out in no time which was perfect. I love diners like this. They are simple. Good quality food. I've never done their dinner before so that's next on list. Definitely worth checking out.

Michael M.

Yelp
This place was just a shorter walk from where we were staying, so we decided to give it a try one morning. So glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like family. The decor is kitschy and dated; but also welcoming and inviting, like a trip to grandma's house. All of the employees were super friendly. Whatever comfort food you're craving, you can likely get it here. Their entire menu is available all day. We ordered breakfast and the food came out quickly and was cooked perfectly! They blueberry pancakes were SOO good! We will definitely be back again!

Joseph J.

Yelp
I just went there with my granddaughter and the help was very brash and seemed to have an attitude I was told to go to the back room with my 18 month old granddaughter in my arms . waitress back there told me go sit where ever I wanted I asked about a high chair for my granddaughter and her reply was Ill get one don't do me any favors I walked out and told the woman with the British accent "your waitress has a real attitude problem" and left never again and neither should you

Joyce N.

Yelp
I am in love. This place is so chill and relaxing. The service is excellent and fast. The staff are calm and efficient. It's a busy place so be prepared to wait but not too long. The food was good and filling. I advise you to check it out.

Bri H.

Yelp
Food was great and the service was even better! Had the friendliest waitress when I visited :)

Andrew F.

Yelp
Best place in Fort Lauderdale for breakfast. Great eggs, of course, but I love their blueberry, whole wheat pancakes, and it's the South -- so definitely their grits. The coffee is superb. I love the place. Friendly staff. Excellent location. Lots of parking. Not expensive. Very efficient service.

Chuck T.

Yelp
Very well run traditional diner with honest food and excellent service. We drove there twice this week for Breakfast (on vacation) and we'll be back. Very reasonable prices too. Pro tip: free shared parking lot behind the diner, next to the river -- just park in one of the spots with a yellow "Egg & You" marker.

Dan P.

Yelp
Omg has this place gone downhill. Start with the most important part of breakfast "the hash browns" pathetic! Brown on one side and white and cold on the other. Did I mention Zero taste. The staff is tired and ready for the pasture. Zero ambiance and plastic shields everywhere. Plenty of other places to go. Time to close this one up. Way past your prime.

Ximena G.

Yelp
So, we're looking for new places to ea with my husband. Googled breakfast places near us, and found this gem. Loved this place! Food was excellent! We are coming back definitely!

Alena K.

Yelp
Nice, cosy and clean place. I had 20 min for a quick lunch and I ordered Corned Beef hash with eggs - very good and service was great !

Ron K.

Yelp
1 STAR IS TOO MUCH !!! I've been living in the Ft Lauderdale area for 37 years and never tried Egg & You Diner until this morning. My parents were treating my wife & I. This was one of the worst breakfast experiences I've ever had. I ordered a Western Omlette & english muffin. The server put it down in front of me and it was literally a miniature breakfast. I've never seen bite sized english muffins before and the omlette fit inside of the small plate. Both of these items are in the photos below. I asked for a manager because I thought it was a mistake. The server brought the owner to our table. This A-Hole was one of the nastiest woman I have ever dealt with. Instead of being polite and accommodating me with a normal sized meal, she decided to argue with me. Then the server began to argue with me as well. The server clearly learned this bad behavior from her boss/owner. The owner in the black was defending her mistake, not correcting it. She refused to re-make the meal unless my parents agreed to pay more money than the regular cost. She went out of her way to attempt to embarrass me in front of my parents. Fortunately, she did not succeed as my people saw right through her rudeness and her unprofessionalism. WOW - I go out and try to have a relaxing breakfast and I'm forced to deal with these idiots? Maybe her busy little restaurant went to her busy little head. WOW - DON'T GIVE THIS NASTY WOMAN YOUR BUSINESS !!! SHE DOESN'T DESERVE IT !!!

Daniel R.

Yelp
I'm calling this the diner that time forgot. It's about 64+ years old and it has been bringing them in ever since. I was happy with most items that I ordered here including the blueberry pancake done thin style. They serve lunch and breakfast from 8am to 2pm. Hours can change at any moment and they are following the rules for covid-19. Prices are very reasonable and they offer free parking in the lot just northwest of the building. You should be happy with most offerings. It was my first time and I liked it. At the end of your meal, you walk to the cashier to pay. I would like to see the hash browns with better quality, they had a synthetic taste to them that really didn't make me want to order them again. Staff is super friendly and they can certainly give you suggestions.

Samantha Dydo D.

Yelp
Yes, yes, yes! This place is an institution (60+ years!) and always packed. Friendly (ish) diner service (again, especially weekend mornings this place is PACKED), great prices, good quality, and surprisingly quick turnaround on orders. Biscuits are soft and fluffy, that toast though (THICC!), and hash browns are good (pro tip - do them up with onions and peppers!). If you want diner food DO IT!
