Google
4 stars – really a 2, rounding up for the staff Thought I’d found a hidden gem, but nope. The service was fast, friendly, and genuine, and the place has that old-school diner charm that’s easy to like. All of the employees were so charming, delightful, and happy — I wish I could give them five stars just for that, but it wouldn’t be a fair review of the food. The food, though, tasted more like food-service ingredients than a old-school crafted menu. The “breakfast burrito” was a loosely rolled, smothered wrap with super rubbery tortillas and grocery-store-style salsa. Hash browns were crispy outside but mushy inside. Breakfast Burrito Plate Breakdown: Flour tortillas (2 large, soft) → ~420 cal Eggs (≈ 3.5 total) → ~245 cal Cheese (a bit over ¼ cup) → ~120 cal Avocado (⅓ fruit) → ~90 cal Sour cream (2 Tbsp) → ~60 cal Grocery-store salsa (3 Tbsp) → ~20 cal Hash browns (1 cup cooked in oil) → ~320 cal Cooking oil/butter from prep → ~80 cal **Roughly 1,335 calories for that whole plate. For that kind of greasy punch on a Sunday morning, I'd expect the taste to be amazing. Wonderful people, great service — but the food just isn’t "heavenly", unfortunately.

Drove down from West LA specifically for this little neighborhood diner and I am so happy that I did so. The food was honestly terrific and our server was very sweet. It’s more of a local country diner than a retro diner but you can tell they cater to the locals, in a good way. It’s pretty small on the inside and remolded since some of the pics in the reviews so there is limited table options but service is very fast so I would guess they turn quickly. They don’t have a dedicated parking lot but free street parking in the neighborhood is easy to find. Also the pricing is so fair, our bill came out to be way less than we expected so it truly is a great spot to visit. For my breakfast I chose one of the specials for the day which was the Chicken Chile Verde Omelette and I added steak as well for $3.50 extra. What a deal! The chile on top was delicious and so were both proteins. The portion size was also quite large and the side of hash browns were perfectly crispy. I was honestly really impressed and being that I’m not the biggest omelette fan to begin with, this one made me rethink that because I am already craving this dish again so probably going to have to drive down from Santa Monica again sometime soon and I would suggest to anyone else in the LB area or close to give Egg Heaven a try.

They are BACK! Just last week we had given another shot and it was a direct bullseye home! With the return of the original owner and crew, feels like returning home after a long trip with same great flavors we have been waiting for. Back with original menus, original taste and new takes on specials and salsas we couldn’t be happier! Nothing but love, good vibes and great food comes from this Cafe! If your new, visiting or long time local to LB this a definite spot to try out! Can’t go wrong! Long time customer of this establishment since 8 or 9 years of age or even sooner and have been regulars every week since I could remember with my grandparent. It always felt like HOME! I was super upset when they had to change owners and crew due to covid and had been changing new management since. The wife and I had tried eating here during the movement, but I was never the same. But now you better believe we will be there every week. Hopefully more than once a week! Thank you Margarita and Gabe for aways make sure we are well taken care of and to the crew behind the scenes for bringing the flavors we have been longing for! Welcome back Egg Heaven Cafe we missed you!

Google
Read about them in an article. If you like eggs, they have various dishes cooked fresh to order. Their service is superb with everyone serving you with a smile and making you feel at home. 5 stars for that. My dish was mid but that was the fiesta scrambled eggs but the French toast with berries and whipped cream was great. I should have gotten the farmers scrambled eggs. Coffee was superb.

Google
A cute little cafe in Long Beach that serves incredible chilaquiles! I got the chilaquiles (would highly recommend especially with red salsa) and the super browns, and I would definitely reorder both of them! The super browns are just heavenly with a bunch of cheese, sour cream, and mushrooms. The service was awesome and really attentive too.

Google
This is one of the better breakfast places in Long Beach. Clean with a old time diner ambiance. Attentive service made it even better. The classics executed well! Today's dish was Eggs Benedict, home style potatoes, side of bacon, and a really good cup of coffee. The Benedict was perfect. The potatoes had the perfect amount of soft, crisp, and browning. The bacon quality and preparation are great! The little side of fruit made it a perfect experience. I'll definitely be back!

I’ve been coming to this amazing breakfast place since I was a young child of my mother. Has great hippie vibes and amazing staff. I always order the San Felipe omelette. It is the greatest breakfast in existence on planet Earth.!

A local legend - Egg Heaven has been part of the famous LB breakfast scene since... 1969? After the pandemic I was gutted that they closed up. Luckily they decided to open back up recently and they seem to be doing great business again. I chatted with the waitress and according to her, "The owner wanted to close the restaurant and sell it due to the pandemic. But myself and the main chef wanted to keep it going - so we convinced the owner to tentatively open back up and see if business would come back." And it certainly has come back. It's always got a line out the door on the weekends and plenty of customers inside during the week too.

Yelp
Favorite all time breakfast spot for 30 years!! Can't beat the 2-2-2 and jsm omelette. Great service.

Yelp
The name says it all! Hubby and I love breakfast and we've made coming to Egg Heaven a ritual! It's our happy place. We love Gabby she is the absolute best, everyone there is so friendly and kind. It's cozy, welcoming, and feels like you are going back in time. Think Patsy Cline, with fresh coffee in hand and the smell of delicious eggs and bacon. Will forever love Egg Heaven!!

Yelp
Almost here every weekend always a good breakfast love the 50-60 music playing in the background. Super small place service has to be fast to keep up.

Yelp
We recently moved to Long Beach and have driven past this diner multiple times, so decided to try. What a blast! From the charming and impeccable interior, to the friendly server, to the AMAZING hashbrowns. We ordered the chilaquiles (crispy, the way I like em) and the corned beef hash omelette. Crazy delicious! Enough food to feed mountain men-we had plenty of leftovers. We'll be back!

Yelp
This for the chicken chile verde special that was on the wall. My girlfriend had it and she loved it. It reminded her of her mom's tamale filling and the potato's remain consistently crispy.

Kathy V.

Yelp
awesome food and service! I'm allergic to eggs and their super spuds are the best! coffee is good too and they are generous with ingredients in all of their dishes & it always tastes amazing!!!
google avatar

Idali S.

Yelp
Food was really good, it tastes like home made. The service excellent, welcome. The restaurant it's small and there is a wait time depending the time you go. They are closed at 3 pm I will come back
google avatar

Yelp
My sister and I came here and we had such a great time! I got the chilaquiles with red salsa and she got the French toast. We 100% will come back and order the same things. We also had amazing service.

Yelp
Love this place! Have been going here for 20 years and it has gotten better with the new owners. LB favorite.

Yelp
Egg Heaven is reopened and good as ever! My partner and I had breakfast at Egg Heaven Cafe the other day and it was worth the wait for them to re-open. The place was pretty busy and we had to wait a little bit to be seated but, it was worth the wait. The waitresses were ALL very friendly, there were lots of food selections, including vegetarian and, the food was very good! If you're looking for a hidden neighborhood 'go to' restaurant, this is your place.

Emily G.

Yelp
Delicious! Great service! Welcoming! Loved the hashbrowns. It tastes homemade. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
I literally enjoy this place too much. The service is great and the food is delicious. And is one a few places in town that has reasonable prices. I had the Chiquitos today and it was excellent. Inside a tip get the green sauce.

Yelp
Once upon a time, this Faerie Queen came out to support the places she loves in the magical city of Long Beach. Egg Heaven has recently reopened and needs their locals back! The setting is quaint, the breakfast foods are amazing, and best of all, the staff are super kind! We were greeted and welcomed as soon as we entered. Please come and support our local businesses! Another lovely Long Beach moment! The end.

Yelp
I will start by putting my biases on the record. I have loved egg heaven for years having it reopened after the pandemic was a huge thing. Then when disagreement between the couple who reopened it and the owner closed it again and a new opening with a light remodeled was announced I wanted nothing to do with it. Now I feel that maintaining the existence of a piece of long Beach history is perhaps more important. I gave it a go . The food is much the same as previous years though the lunch selection has shrunk considerably.i had the 2x2x2 my poached medium eggs were as requested. I opted for sausage and French toast. Served with a garnish of fresh Mellon and berries. Service was very good. Price was reasonable.Much as I feared the renovation included removing the artwork on the ceiling.painting the wood paneling. It feels like the hart was ripped out . The servers agree that the artwork removal was a great loss. From what I gathered they hear the sentiment a lot. In all I can't fault the food or service the damage to the historical art is done & who did it is up for debate. So give it a try , it is not what it was but it is good and I have it can live on.

Yelp
It's a Friday at 10:45 and every booth is full. The counter has space so we take it. Do that! It's made even more apparent that this is/was a hippy place! The counter is a montage of magazines and newspapers and book pages. Even the front of tiger counter, which I had not noticed before, Is collaged. So. Our third time in a month for breakfast here. Esperanza remembered us again and even our previous orders! We chose the Monterey today and yes. It was delicious!
google avatar

Raymond S.

Yelp
Ok three weeks ago we had wonderful meal here and to my surprise the waitress not only remembered us but our order! Trying Monterey omelette with egg substitute. Hmm the eggs Benedict and huveos down the counter look great too! Excellent variety of meat tidbits with green onions in hash browns!! Perfect! Then just for read the art work under the glass counter!! So how am I going to read it all! Far out ! As we used say in the 60's.

Yelp
Been coming here since the early 2000's this was definitely my fave spot back then & still is! Authentic great food & everyone is so nice! Cozy little joint!

Yelp
Wow! What a cute little cafe. This actually wasn't our first choice because we didn't know any better! We had gone down to a diner in Belmont Shore but it was way too crowded. Husband said, "let's go back to 4th Street to that place at the corner at Ximeno." "Sure," I said. Best decision of that day. The service was phenomenal. It's run by very few people but they got it all covered. Super friendly too. But that day, I was just not feeling like eggs. (slight hangover from the night before lol) so I ordered the "Built Oatmeal". So good. It was loaded with granola, bananas, raisins, blueberries, brown sugar and whipped butter. The server asked if I wanted some milk with my oatmeal. YES, thank you! This bowl of oats made me feel 100% better! Good on my stomach :) Husband did suggest that I order an egg on the side. So I did, poached. And also a side of squaw toast. It was the best. Simple and perfect. The big chonky squaw bread was toasted and buttered. Excellent! This along with my bowl of oats made me feel 100% better! Good on my stomach :) Husband had the Huevos Rancheros - tortillas, refried beans, tomatoes, two eggs, cheddar cheese, salsa, jalapenos, black olives, green onions, avocado, and sour cream. And served with home style potatoes. He chose corn tortillas over toast. It was the BEST he had ever had! And he's eaten this dish just about everywhere on earth, true story! Don't forget to check out all the art on the walls, counter seatings, ceiling! Pretty cool. I cannot wait for our next visit here, hopefully soon enough!

Yelp
First time here. Nice early 60's music playing. Local, dated cafe vibe. Menu prices average $15-$16 an item. Coffee $4. Food came out fast and piping hot. Vegetarian Chorizo Omelette was very flavorful. The Green salsa & Red salsa tasted homemade. It was nice to see they were kept in a refrigerator. Green salsa had a nice thick consistency, mild and bold flavor-- my favorite. Red salsa was also mild. I prefer a little more of a kick, but l still considerate a tasty salsa. Both salsas were nice accompaniment to my dish, especially on my potato's. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Management made the right choice by going back to the old crew and bringing back the old menu. Seeing the familiar faces and hearing the people talk over and over about how good the food is again is great. And yes it is I ate every last bite off my plate. EGG HEAVEN is back!!!

Kassandra L.

Yelp
This place is 1000000/10. The service was amazing, the food was amazing and overall this place is one of a kind. Waitress was super nice and attentive, she ROCKS!!! And the food....do not get me started on the food y'all. The hash browns were so crunchy and delicious with the perfect seasoning. The pancakes so nice and fluffy/soft. But the star of it all was the chilaquiles. I got to try both green and red...Best chilaquiles ever!!! Thank you to the cook, you can tell how much love they put into the food. Make sure you stop by this place for some delicious Breakfast, you will not regret it. Most of all Thank you to the waitress and the cook for making this experience the best experience!

Yelp
Since my last review 15 years ago, the coffee has greatly improved. My wife and I got the usual Queen Maria omelet, which was just as good as ever, although it is no longer on the menu. I asked for it, and the chef happily complied. Apparently they shortened their busy menu during covid to make it easier to sanitize them. You can still request your favorites if they were dropped. Queen Maria: Jack, cheddar, tomato, mushrooms, a bit of garlic and worcestershire sauce, topped with sour cream and cream cheese. I just love this omelet, and am so glad the chef is still there after all these years to make it. Toast: Thick sourdough, dense, hearty. Love it. Hash browns: This crispy exterior, and almost mashed-potato like interior. Good, but I do prefer a more prominent crust and a denser potato bite. Coffee: Not bad. Still not Starbucks, but quaffable. Service: Outstanding. The folks here could not be friendlier. Ambience: Love it. Old hippy art still adorns the place, from the bar counter to the ceiling. Good music playing, but not too loud. I missed the place, and was so happy to be back.

Yelp
Came back to Egg Heaven to my continued delight. The ham steak was grilled perfectly with their signature potatoes which for whatever reason I didn't upgrade with all the fixings to make them over the top....next time! Service was extremely attentive n food came back piping hot. Ambiance hasn't changed....continues to look your grandma's lived in kitchen who by the way loves Elvis. Come see for yourself.

Yelp
DELICIOSO! Nos encontramos el lugar cerca a la casa, sin planearlo entramos y nos gustó muchísimo. La comida estuvo riquísima, riquísima!. El ambiente muy tranquilo. Excelente servicio, excelente lugar. Una atmósfera relajada, muy familiar. De hecho, volveremos.

Yelp
Located at a corner, cozy inside, a few booths but a lot of bar seating. It offers classic diner fare--nothing extraordinary, yet still quite enjoyable.

Yelp
Let me start by saying, AMAZING SERVICE by Rosy. Upon entering we were greeted with a cheery welcoming voice of Alondra. It was about 11am and we didn't have to wItto be seated which was great. Immediately offered drinks. My wife loved the coffee,it was strong and flavorful. I'm a huge fan of chilaquiles and very picky, so of course that's what I ordered. Fresh homemade chips, flavorful red sauce, scrambled egg and topped with the fixins I was impressed and so much of them, so much I couldn't finish them. One of the best ove had. My wife had the Ximeno omelets, she enjoyed it as well, said it could of been a bit more spicy but very good either way. Alondra appeared to be training Rosy, very professional young woman, and the way she was training and speaking was very kind and patient. I know what it's like to train and she was doing a great job. The inside is small and quaint. 6 booths and a row of counter seating, they were all over it making sure everyone was taken care of. If your looking for a small Cafe with phenomenal service I highly recommend Egg Haven.

Yelp
I can't say enough about this special cafe. Gabby, and all the staff are amazing, as is every delicious dish that comes out of that tiny kitchen! Kudos to the chef (s)! But, what is so magical is the feeling of being transported back in time - with not only the music - but the feeling of being in a small town meeting place where you can linger talking with friends as the harried world fades into the background. . .

Yelp
Egg Heaven is a quaint little diner style restaurant that has lots of charm with it's brick walls and comfortable booth seats and long counter space for enjoying large portioned breakfasts. Immediately upon entering, I was warmly greeted. Immediately upon sitting, my order for drinks was taken and promptly brought to the table. The service was the highlight of this visit. Throughout the entire stay the waitress kept coming around making sure we were okay refilling our coffees or resolving any issues we may have had. One particular issue which is why this is a three-star instead of a five-star was the eggs on both of our dishes were overcooked. The eggs were supposed to be poached which gives a lot of room for the yolk not to come out overcooked or continue to get cooked while on top of hot food. However, the eggs on both dishes were overcooked so I had to tell our waitress to take them back and they immediately fixed it and brought out eggs with runny yolks and poached like the way they should have been the first time. After that I was able to enjoy my meal. It didn't take long for them to bring out the poached eggs the way they were supposed to be, so there was really no waiting involved and I'm very thankful for that. I'm not certain why the cooks would do that but it definitely brought down five star to a three-star. I am bringing it down an extra star from 4 stars because the title of your restaurant is egg heaven and if you're going to lead with that then the eggs should be perfect and held at a higher standard and it was done on both dishes. Other than that, breakfast was great portion size, was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful, welcoming and comfortable, and the service was outstanding. I hope you guys fix these little issues with the cooks moving forward.

Yelp
New chef/owner Highly recommend egg heaven; respect for the chef! The quality of food is excellent, everything is fresh, amazing flavor, real authentic taste!! I can't wait to try other items. They will be bringing sandwiches and burgers in the future. My favorite was the homemade pico I would even order a side to take home

Yelp
Food: great! All forms of breakfast from biscuits and gravy to poached eggs and corn beef hash. Their pancakes are great too. Service: great! Always with a smile. Ambiance: it's a diner. It gives all the atmosphere of a typical diner. What else can one ask of a diner.

Yelp
Egg heaven never lets me down , fresh food , with taste and culinary excellence. I've been coming here since the late 1980s and the food is perfect . I'm glad they bounced back from the pandemic .

Yelp
Gabby and Penelope was amazing, very welcoming each time we come! The food comes out so fast! Great food.

Yelp
Tasty, rootsy, n lots of history in this place. Generous avocado usage. Crispy potatoes best thing going. Omelettes are a go too! Waitress crew is on it! Cook crew is on point too! Went here many times over the years but gave it a ten year pause. I'm back in the saddle now. Egg heaven is on!!

Yelp
They're Back! After the harsh covid hit that the local restaurants took, this one is back! The old cook and servers are back. It was like hoing home this morning. The food was excellent. I had the superbrowns with steak. My son had a full country breakfast. My plate was full, and I took half home. The service couldn't be better and the prices are fair. I'm so happy the original crew is back.

Yelp
Ever since Old Town Cafe in Seal Beach closed unexpectedly, we have been frequenting Egg Heaven. Some of the staff, including long time cook, Carlos, moved to Egg Heaven. We have really been enjoying breakfast here. Everything has been delicious. The Wanderlust Omelette with Italian sausage is great! The pancakes are fluffy and large. Definitely worth a try.
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
The worst place ever. I asked him to put my eggs over medium and it was still runny and yet it wouldn't be the first time. Two services is very slow. They walk right past you when you want coffee . Definitely not the same owners definitely will tell my friends not to support this location

Rian B.

Yelp
Old school vibes, delicious food, the waitress was very nice and accommodating. Likes the music station. Would recommend
