Such a cute gem of an ice cream place on Staten Island. The ice cream was 10/10 the best I’ve ever had and the staff were very charming. Love the vintage looking interior and the ice cream cups were adorable!

I have lived on Staten Island for 23 years and went here many times and yes it has gone down hill ever since and I can not understand why. It used to be so special and happy now I rather go to Ralphs Ice Cream. The service especially during the summer is terrible. I don"t come here anymore. The only thing I can think of is the original owners died and their children took over and destoyed it...as usual for this generation. Its the saddest thing that I have ever see in any establishment.

This is the first time I have ever been here with a bunch of people and this place is pretty fancy.😁 It's got that old fashioned 1960s feel to it. It makes sense because it became a business since 1964 on Forest avenue in Staten Island. Then in the next year, Egger's added three more locations 1. Historic Richmond Town 2.Urby 3. Snug harbor. They also have a website explaining the history of Egger's. They don't only sell ice cream. 🍧🍨🍦They have candy too.🍭🍬🍫 The owner of that store told us the history of this place and how it came to be. They also have different flavors of ice cream. They had strawberry, chocolate, vanilla and much more. I asked if they had coconut and they did. It was coconut almond fudge with toppings such as crunchies, sprinkles or chocolate sprinkles. I tried their ice cream and it was good. 👌👍😉 It only cost $8 but I bet a cost way more or less. Maybe next time if I wanted something sweet,I'll get something from here.💝 😘 And don't worry they take cash and credit. 💳 💵

I have many happy memories at this place when my kids were little (early 2000s). I was in the area recently and it seems to be a little bit in decline but I am sure it is still a kids delight!

The icecream was amazing. They have a variety of flavors to choose from and many toppings. They also have many cup sizes! Although because the food is so good, the service is a little slow but the employees are nice overall.

As a staple ice cream parlor in Staten Island, we decided to try out Egger's on a Saturday evening! There is a good amount of parking in the strip mall parking lot and the place wasn't too crowded when we came. This is surprisingly more of a sit down ice cream place where they give you a menu and take your order rather than the usual take out ice cream places that I am used to. However, they do have an option to order out! We were allowed to sit anywhere we wanted, so we sat at the counter. It took a noticeably long time for the staff to take our orders. However, when they did take our order, the staff was perfectly nice and our ice cream came out relatively quickly! I got 1 scoop of the coffee ice cream and my boyfriend got 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sprinkles. 1 scoop is actually technically two smaller scoops, so we came to the conclusion that 1 actual scoop must be the junior scoop. The ice cream was pretty good and met our expectations! The vanilla ice cream came with plenty of chocolate sprinkles, so you will definitely be satisfied. The interior decor of the place is cute, and they do have a lot of ice cream dessert options, so I would recommend stopping in!

Always a delight to go to Egger's! I went in late October and took advantage of their pumpkin s'mores scoop and a vanilla pb scoop. Oh! I opted for the junior scoop- the regular scoop =2 scoops and that would've been a bit too much because I wanted two different flavors. I added fluff and peanut butter for toppings. My partner and I were seated in the parlor and we found the staff to be nice. We came her Saturday evening after dinner and it wasn't too quiet, few other customers as well. I advise to pay in cash for the cash discount.

Local spot that I frequent. Great counter service, good variety of ice cream flavors. Old timey music playing. Great for a day date or bring the kids. They have downsized a bit, but have moved tables around. It's very cozy in there now. They do ice cream cakes, ice cream parties, and have 2 more locations on the island.

WOW!!!! Went to eggers last night and had a wonderful experience. The waitress was so so nice. She took our orders and reviewed with us what we wanted and she made our ice cream sundaes to perfection!! The service was impeccable. I also got to taste a few ice cream flavors before choosing what I wanted. I love Eggers chocolate chocolate chip ice cream. My friends loved their ice cream as well. The ambiance and decor in here is so old fashioned and cozy. I love the old fashion stool chairs like an ice cream bar. The store is also very clean and organized. I will definitely be back for an ice cream sundae. Thank you so much Eggers!

Old school ice cream shop! How fun. Ice cream, cakes, candy, and soda. It felt so reminiscent to see the Jones soda in the fridge. Good place to bring kids. I usually just get something to go but they have seats for dine in. The ice creams are great and plenty of options - my favorites are the chocolate chocolate chip & chocolate chip. I usually go for the hot fudge for toppings and have even bought a jar to bring home. Service has been decent the few times I've went, I did not experience the same negative interactions that other reviewers have shared.

I moved to Staten Island in 2002. My family and I used to come here often. Now its not the same anymore. It lost its vib and the portions are too small for the price. And the ordering is hecktic and the people behind the counter were not organized. Terrible service. I now just go to Carvels on forest and be done with it. Its sad to see the decline of these old estabishments just like this country as a whole. The only good thing is the they are alway other busniesses waiting in the bushes to take over market share. Its just a matter of time.

The staffs are friendly. Ordered a rainbow cookie and watermelon sorbet both are flavors of the month which are delicious on a hot summer day. If you pay via card there is a surge charge.

Used to be a GREAT ice cream parlor. The workers were complaining about making customers orders aloud. Saying they were going to quit if they had to make another milkshake. Gave a small instead of a large ‍. Just disappointing. Not quality Customer service

Old school ice cream parlor that packs a mean punch! Not only does this parlor gives you your ice cream fix it also has a wide variety of old school candies that bring back some good old memories. Candies through out time are right here as if you traveled back, wayyyy back! What more can you ask for?? Well, the ice cream of course! The "chocolate chocolate chip" REALLY left me WoW'd! I had a large scoop full in a bowl over a warm freshly made Belgium waffle topped with Reese's pieces, chocolate syrup and fresh whipped cream.... THIS SOOOO HIT THE SPOT!!! The ice cream had a real good quality to it and a creamy consistency. Not firm or frozen, and no ice chips found in ANY bite. Just silky smooth chocolaty goodness... MmmMmmmm! Hands down one of the best ice cream experiences I've ever had =D

What is happening to Egger's ice cream parlor? How very sad to see how it has drastically declined over the years of me patronizing this establishment. They recently closed off their dining area leaving only the counter and 3 tables crammed in the rear corner of the store. I'm so sorry and disappointed to see what's happening to this establishment that I always enjoyed making a stop for a nice ice cream treat.

Five star product. One star service. Been going to Egger's for 40+ years and each time I go back I run into service issues. Such a shame that a great Staten Island institution is ruining itself.

Eggers continues to have the best ice cream but the service has been declining steadily. Delivery orders are frequently wrong, or under portioned. Telephone pick up orders constantly not ready and again under portioned (half empty containers). In person service is slow. Recent stop had 1 counter girl and a manager who just stood there watching the girl handle a line of 5.

Forest Avenue location! The ice cream is delicious, and I have ordered many cakes over the years from them, but my most recent on 9/30/23 I was very disappointed. The cake was not decorated at all the way I requested. I ordered almost the same exact cake previously with no issue. So, it's not like they can tell me they don't decorate it that way. I understand people make mistakes; however, we went over the order 3 times. Anyhow, what was even more aggravating was the nasty woman I had spoken to about it. I was very polite and had said the cake was not decorated as I requested can anything be done about it. Her reply, that's what it said on the order. I tell her whoever took the information wrong. Then she tells me, oh we don't decorate it that way. I said you need an attitude adjustment if you want any more business.

4/5/22 I literally just now brought my 5-year-old daughter here because we just missed the ice cream truck and I told her I would get her ice cream for doing well in school. We walked into Edgar's on Forest Avenue and we were completely ignored by the 2 young woman that were working there. When they did make eye contact they looked completely miserable, with the most unwelcoming look I have ever seen. We were ignored for 7 straight minutes while I stood there with my young daughter in my arms, who was looking forward to her strawberry ice cream. Eventually I got fed up and I said we're out of here. There was no one else in the store! I couldn't believe that we were just ignored like that! I know Staten Island has terrible customer service, but this is one of the worst that I've experienced in a long while. My family will never go here again.

Favorite ice cream on Staten Island! It's always delicious, but today was over the top. Mya makes the best hot fudge sundae and the value for the price is exceptional!!

Quick summer sweet treat that you can't beat! I went to both locations, Forrest Ave and Richmondtown Eggers. Richmond town has a lot of parking. Walking around such an old part of NYC history is a awesome part of getting ice cream. The Forrest Ave location is in shopping place easy to park, inside there is a larger old fashion counter and additional seating off to side. Summer without ice cream is never a good summer.

We had an incredible time at Egger's Igloos for the third year! The service is amazing and the ice cream is the best most delicious ice cream you can possibly imagine! The kids loved writing their letters to Santa and then meeting him! Making a special Christmas tree decoration was so much fun too! We have made Eggers Igloos our family favorite tradition

Ice cream is decent but they consistently get orders wrong take forever to make and just have poor customer service. The aesthetic of the place is quite nice and the pecan pie ice cream is worth a try.

I've been an eggers fan forever. I've never had a problem. They are amazing and the owner is lovely. Went to the forest ave store tonight and the ice cream tasted very off, sour. Wasn't sure if it was the ice cream or toppings but a few of us used the term sour about our orders. Daughter ordered a root beer float and it was coke a cola with ice crea., which was gross. The cherries and or wallnhut toppings tasted awful. I never ordered chocolate syrup and jt was on my order. And just overall , no one finished their ice cream for the first time ever bc we have been eggers fans for 20+ years. Just wanted to let you know here because I want to see eggers not only survive but continue to thrive. I'll update my review to 5 stars as soon as the owner sees this and maybe talks to forest Ave staff.

Saw a roach just casually crawling up the wall above the milkshake mixers. Called the health Dept but I will never go back. I don't think they clean too good.

WE WAITED AN HOUR WITH NO SERVICE SITTING AT A TABLE. The service as of the last couple months is terrible, waiting 20 minutes to sit down when the location is practically empty, tables are not cleaned and we sat for another 15 minutes before receiving a menu and then even longer to get our order taken. Clearly management needs to step up, unclean tables, and extreme wait times despite an empty and slow environment. WE WAITED FOR OVER AN HOUR WITH NO SERVICE SO WE WALKED OUT. Never ever coming back to this trash place ever again

I love Eggers and have been coming to the Forest location for years, without any issue. I also frequent Richmondtown, Igloos, Urby, etc., always good. July 3rd around 8pm went with my family, counter service at Forest. Waited at least 15 minutes for one of several (6 ) servers to greet us and wipe the counter which was dirty from prior customers. The rag was full of ice cream mess, but I ignored it...on either side of us, the counter remained dirty with left over dishes from other people. No one every bothered to remove so we could sit more comfortably. My son was really into coming for ice cream, so just continued on. The ice cream area in front of us where they make the ice cream was terrible....things not wiped down, trash over flowing. The staff with dirty hands preparing orders...extremely unappealing. At one point a young person dripped fudge from his fingers onto someone's Sundae...thankful our server appeared more respectful, clean and I was grateful for this, but also seemed to be training. We ordered 3 sundaes....mine had one small scoop of ice cream, melting before I was served. Two of my son's toppings were practically invisible. All this, we tolerate, it's ice cream, ok, person training, etc. but while there, the same server with the dripping fudge picks up his shirt, scratches his back and continues making someone's ice cream dish! All while laughing, talking fooling around with the other servers, not a good atmosphere.....Forty dollars later we leave, way over priced for the items I received. When I got home I took the time to inform the store of this experience on their website, give them a chance to respond, explain, correct. But nothing. I guess they don't care about every location any more. Terrible, really. Will not be going to Forest any more for sure. Will stick with Ralph's ices or try somewhere else, maybe Coldstone next time.

This is a fabulous place and my husband and I have gone here for many years. Today, Tuesday, July 22 at 2 p.m. I decided to visit Eggers with my friend. The woman behind the counter, Danielle, was very nasty. We decided that once we got our ice cream, we would sit in the room in back. This witch came charging in telling us to leave as it was waitress service only. There is a policy. Therefore our patronizing the place was not enough, unless we gave her a tip??? We, as paying customers, left and sat outside at a nearby restaurant. I want to tell everyone how wonderful the staff always has been to us. Apparently this creature should never work with the public. Please Eggers, fire this nasty person.

I've heard awesome things about this place and wanted to love it but I thought it was just okay. They do give huge scoops and the ice cream is good - just wasn't amazing to me and I've had better. I got the flavors strawberry with fresh whipped cream and cookies and cream. For the strawberry, I would have loved if there was more strawberry bits inside but the ice cream itself was creamy and smooth, and they gave a lot of whipped cream! For the cookies and cream, I also wished there was more oreo pieces inside as well. The interior of the store is super cute inside, filled with lots of candy, even the super old ones that brings back memories of when I was a kid. Still worth a visit at least once, but not sure if I'd come back.

I went into this place, which is on Forest Avenue, and was appalled by what I witnessed. I was so taken back that I left and will never return nor recommend this place. Here is what I had the misfortune to witness. An older woman, I am guessing, was the manager (not a good one) screaming at a young worker in front of customers and the poor girls' fellow workers. This horrible woman was belittling the young girl over improper bagging or something to that effect. How does a grown friggin woman treat anyone like that, especially someone else's child. This woman needs to be removed from her position because she is a horrible person and sucks as a manager. My heart goes out to that poor young girl who had more maturity and class than the adult. She didn't disrespect or yell back at the manager. That kid needs a promotion, and the woman needs a new job or lots of training. I hope the young girl reports that miserable person to the owners. I know that this is the last time I will enter or recommend an Eggers.

The young staff that work here are deplorable. Do NOT waste your money. If I could give zero stars, I would. I moved back to the area a few months ago, and since it's been nicer out, I've been here about 3 times in just a few weeks. Each time I went, the service was HORRIBLE. The people at the register completely ignore you as you wait stupidly to be asked if you would like to order. One night, the order was wrong. Another night a friend and I sat for 30 MINUTES until we had to physically walk into the other room and request to order. Finally, the third night, I was stared at while 7 people were behind the counter. Although it's obvious these kids are only there for a check, the manager needs to wake up. Almost every review on this site is poor. It's just embarrassing.

Waited 90 minutes for delivery. Didn't get full order delivered. Forest Ave staff rude when I called and told me to contact Door Dash - not them. They were totally unconcerned. High prices, hot fudge like cold sludge when delivered...never again.

As I wait for my ice cream that I ordered online at 7:25, it's now 8:20- I look around at all the workers who are literally slow as molasses. Half my order is melting in a bag as the other half is slowly being made. If I didn't order online and pay already I would've walked out. The counters are gross. Behind the counters are gross. And not one worker looks like they're in a rush to get customers out. This place has gone down hill in years, tonight as I eat melted ice cream, if I ever get out of here, will be my last visit. This generation doesn't want to work hard. That's the problem

The delivery was done in a timely fashion. My cousin loved the flavors of the cake, especially the chocolate. Our order was done online so I camt speak to the ambiance. They did confirm the prder promptly which I most certainly appreciated.

eggers igloos at snug harbor has been a favorite family event for us at christmas and valentines day this year so much that we went just for ice cream to forest ave and i ordered a special made birthday cake we love it .... the staff has been amazing ... jodi somma / randi simon

As an ex eggers employee, not only are the igloos disgusting but so is the company. The boss completely overworked her employees. Every day the store was understaffed and the staff that were there were overworked. There were 12 igloos total and probably about 6 people on shift. Therefore, one person would get two igloos at the same time but each one can vary from waiting from 1-8 people at once. So one person would be serving 16 people, making all of them sundaes and bringing out drinks in under 45 minutes or else they would be yelled at by the manager if they weren't on time. She also took advantage of minors and didn't give them breaks after 12 hour shifts as well. It was also a complete lie when the first ones started and they claimed that the igloos were throughly cleaned especially when it was the height of Covid. The tables were barely cleaned and if anything those igloos are what started Covid in the first place. Don't even get me started on the tip situation. At the end of the night, the boss would take the tips and hold them until the following Thursday. They would then be split between the entire staff and even to the people who did nothing but get stoned (every single day by the way) the ENTIRE shift. The tips were not even based upon the tables that you waited, but the hours that you worked. The entire thing is a complete scam and you're paying way too much money just for you to get ice cream for your kids (and spend $10 while it's really only $4), sit in the cold, and not even finish what you get. Lastly, after receiving REQUIRED uniforms, we were surprised to see a deduction in our paychecks for $80. No one told us that we were paying for the uniforms. Trust me on this, eggers is awful. PS the cookies and pies aren't home made. They're from David's cookies and bought from grocery stores. We were also constantly finding hairs in the ice cream. Have fun eating your unsanitary hairy cold treat!

I really want to love Eggers but the establishment has gone down hill over the past few years. The ice cream itself is to die for, but the staff and management are a joke. First off all, Danielle, I don't know if you are running the social media, but your Instagram needs some engagement. Not only have I've seen a couple of recent complaints on your posts (you may want to check that out), but I have written to you via DM, got no reply, and then had to take an extra step via phone call when I was turned away from Richmondtown earlier this year, for a large takeout order. This is when you were open for your Igloo experience, which may have been the only time I've seen you engage with your customers (no surprise since it was an easy $50, at least, from each family in your pocket!) I've come back to Richmondtown earlier this week, and then today to Forest hoping to try your Patriotic Rainbow Cookie Flavor. Its sold out yet it is still being advertised on your page (make another batch then!) Well not only did you not have the flavor, which is fine, but we sat down and waited 30 minutes until we were served. Then the ice cream came out another 20 minutes later, and I kid you not it was all melted. I really wish I took a picture but what an embarrassment to bring that out to the table. We sent it back and got no apology or anything. We were looking forward to our visit but had to get up and leave. Such a shame and waste of our time! I'm all for supporting a small and family owned business, but do better. Engage with your customers on social media. Train your staff. Oh, and nobody needs a 2 minute introduction when you call the store. Really hope to see things change.

This shit got me sick to my stomach I got a vanilla fudge swirl and there was a hard piece of something in it the marshmallow got everywhere plus the candy here is 50 years old I got starburst and it was more hard then a rock this place is disrespectful to me stomach. PS not ever coming here again and I stole the star burst.

Recently I tasted Egger's ice cream at a friend's house on Staten Island. The chocolate was smooth and flavorful but the banana was extraordinary. The combination of real banana taste and the richness of the cream combined into something special. While I would not rank it above Brickley's in Rhode Island, it was definitely up there in the elite ice cream rankings!

We've been going toEgger's for over 20 years and the ice cream is so good, but the service is hit or miss. Last night we wouldn't have been seated unless we told the staff. Every table was empty. Then the waitress got two out of three orders wrong. She left the correct one, brought the others back and left with the spoons so I couldn't eat until she returned and I had to ask for spoons. Then, when we finished, she never came back with the check as has happened many times. We went to pay, the cashier was going to charge us extra for whipped cream and cherries, which are part of a sundae. She had our waitress take over. Now they put a surcharge on the check if you use a credit card, we never do and if you don't tell the cashier, you'll pay that along with your check. There's always new staff and some know what they're doing, a lot don't.

Spent a lifetime getting treats from this place. Just a super traditional ice cream parlor with all of the sundaes, shakes, etc., that you would expect. Excellent handmade ice cream in great flavors!

This was the second to last ice cream spot for me to try on the AMNY list of best ice creams. I put this one off for so long because it's so out of the way. But I honestly wish I kept this for last because I would have kept the "best for last". I came in expecting it to be like Eddie's Sweet Shop, but I left loving this so much more. First off, they're so friendly here! I kind of felt like I was home. So much of it brought me back to my childhood, especially all the candies I grew up eating. I expected the flavors to be limited to old fashioned flavors, but I was surprised to see their monthly special which had chocolate Oreo delight and captain crunch. They offered 15 flavors or more and tons of different toppings. I had to try the Chocolate Oreo Delight because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to the next time I come back. I got one scoop in a chocolate cone. When my waitress gave me my cone, my eyes were literally so wide. It was HUGE! And when I got my check, my mouth literally dropped! I spent less than $5 for my cone. This is like Carvel price, but better ice cream! The ice cream was soooo good! It was creamy and chocolatey. There were a good amount of Oreo pieces throughout and not overly sweet. I'm definitely making it a thing to stop here every time I come through Staten Island!

Been coming here for 40 years. I moved off Staten Island over 20 years ago. And every time I come back this place is a for sure thing. I came here last week with family and friends. The ice cream is special! It's so good, creamy and texture is perfect. The service was just ok. But we made the place busy. There was 12 of us and they had a steady flow of customers.

I had high expectations for the place but it wasn't that great. My boyfriend and I shared the Banana Boat with s'mores and chocolate chip ice cream. I loved the portion size! It says it's only 2 scoops but in reality, we got 4 scoops. The ice cream was creamy and interesting but nothing too special. The service was great though. The server took time out to explain the different ice cream flavors and gave us so many samples. One side of the store was filled with all these kinds of candy - even old ones that I don't even see anymore. I felt like a kid again! I would go again if I was around the area but I wouldn't travel out there just for it.

I'm extremely disappointed with the experience I had tonight at Egger's. Firstly it's a factory in there 20 people behind the counter and you being rushed to order when there is no one waiting in line. I ordered a Diet Coke float as I do every time. All of a sudden it's not possible to get a Diet Coke float only regular, amazing to me. 1 Junior scoop Sunday, a milkshake, and a nerds rope is $20??? On top of all that the Junior scoop went straight in the garbage as I found a hair embedded in it. Disgusting. Not worth the over priced ice cream and gross outcome. Save your money and go find some other place to scoop your ice cream.

This is actually my second time visiting this location. The first time was many years ago, and at that time I wasn't impressed because they only had basic flavors. I'm more into ice cream parlors with flavors like chocolate brownie, strawberry cheesecake, cookie dough, chocolate peanut butter, and cake batter ice cream. This time I decided to come in because I saw some pictures on their Instagram of a couple new flavors of the month, and saw some really good brownie and chocolate chip sundae pictures. I'm glad I decided to give this place a second chance today! I ordered one of their flavors of the month which was called Love Potion, and it was chocolate ice cream with chocolate cake pieces in it. It was so good! I tried another flavor which was Red Velvet, and that one wasn't that great. I ended up ordering a warm brownie sundae topped the Vanilla Fudge and Love Potion ice cream then I had it topped with extra peanut butter, and I told them no whip cream. It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! The guy who made it was so nice and a great worker. He listened to exactly what I wanted and made it. I'm obsessed with anything with peanut butter and to me the extra peanut butter it was topped with made it fantastic! The brownie was so good too! The ice cream itself I just found it to be ok besides the new Love Potion flavor which was really good! The brownie Sundaes here are amazing! I highly recommend you ordering one! The next time I go I'll try their chocolate chip or apple pie sundae. The sundaes here are excellent and worth coming in for. But, for getting plain ice cream with no topping I don't recommend coming in for unless they get some more unique flavors. Two toppings they should add are Reese's cups and cookie dough my other favorites. Today they turned me into a regular, and I highly recommend coming here for their brownie sundaes! Eating that warm brownie sundae topped with extra peanut butter made my whole day great!

Grew up going to this classic homemade ice cream spot, so I was psyched to revisit it nearly two decades later. Got the chocolate chip-and-coffee sundae with hot fudge and whipped cream. While the whipped cream doesn't taste so deliciously vanilla like it used to, the coffee ice cream was so good. The chocolate chip vanilla was good, but lacking in that creamy, pure vanilla taste. Overall, sweet spot for candy and a seat at the counter.
