Stevie Wonder Makes a Low-Key Appearance at Eggy’s Diner Following His Minneapolis Show - Eater Twin Cities

"Eggy’s Diner is a breakfast spot in Minneapolis known for its casual atmosphere. Recently, it was visited by Stevie Wonder, who stopped by for a late breakfast after his concert at the Target Center. The diner has a reputation for its egg-centric dishes, although the specific dish ordered by Wonder remains unknown." - Justine Jones

I love checking out local diner eats when I travel, so when I saw this place I knew it was it. I got the Eggy's combo, which came with pancakes, eggs, and sausage patties (my absolute favorite way to eat breakfast sausages). Everything tasted great, and the eggs with cheese were cooked perfectly. The pancakes were a good size and it did not take long for me to get my order which I really appreciate it. Definitely recommend this place to check out if you're in the Minneapolis area for a solid local breakfast spot.

Cute little spot for breakfast! We stopped in for breakfast while in town and got seated right away, but it was a weekday. I imagine it’s busy on weekends. Our server was great and we both got eggs Benedict which was delicious, along with crispy wedge potatoes. Fast and friendly service and great food.

Google
As a first time customer, I was impressed. The food was good but that mango mimosa was 🔥. Could not handle more than 1. 🤦🏽‍♀️ We will definitely come back. My son and I had the breakfast and he loved the French toast as I loved the Belgian waffle. However, the potatoes were just ok. Our server, Eugenia was great about it…. The ambiance was great….and the music was too. I loved how the tables were cleaned and cleared right away! THEY VALIDATE!

Google
Isat at the bar. I asked if I could sub my pancakes and toast, I ordered the Colorado omelet, for an Eggy's crepe a-la-carte and was told no by the manager. The bar tender thought differently and went back to ask the cook. She came back and said "shhhhh" with a smile. The omelet was excellent and the crepe amazing. Highly recommended.

Had a good breakfast! Totally forgot about this place! Love that it’s nice and warm here also, I’m always freezing at diners so this was a nice change!!! Street parking is tight so you’d have to park in the garage but just make sure you have a smartphone in that case. The potatoes needed some salt but other than that I enjoyed it all!!!

Google
Very friendly service. Had an excellent breakfast burrito with home fries that were perfect!

Google
First time in Eggy's. Dropoed in for breakfast. Fun, funky little urban diner. Friendly, helpful, fast service. Interesting breakfast offerings. Tried (and loved!) the breakfast tacos, recommend the avocado level-up. Street parking, so arrive before the crowd. It was quiet on an early Thursday a.m., but I can see this place would be hopping at lunchtime, and weekend mornings.

Visited twice this week on a work trip and both times were delicious. My favorite was the chicken and waffles! Super friendly staff and fast service!

Yelp
I have a high expectations when it comes to a breakfast joints. This place checked all the boxes. The service was good, could be improved. Really nice staff. Coffee was hot and it had the right taste. Not that smoky taste you feel in your breath. I got a breakfast burrito and a pancake. My wife got a breakfast sandwich. The burrito was off the charts. It was F ing delicious. Most diners go cheap on the pancake quality, but not this place. And you can't forget the massive big potatoes that came on the side. The only thing I regret is I wasn't hungry enough. I need to starve myself for my next visit.

Yelp
Eggy's is someplace I have visited a few times now. My boyfriend and I come here occasionally for breakfast. We were seated immediately and the restaurant is always nice and clean and the staff is always friendly. Our drinks were okay. Nothing super special but definitely not bad. What I'd expect for a more casual breakfast place. Our food came out quickly and looked great! I felt as if the biscuits and gravy could definitely use a little more seasoning and whenever i order sunny side up eggs, they are always under done. They tend to always be liquid on top when I eat them here which always makes me feel a little bit weird about eating all of them. However, my boyfriend LOVES their Benedict! He had no complaints and we mostly come here just so he can have that. Their side of bacon was not many pieces for the price but that's how it is at majority of restaurants so i wasn't too upset. Overall, Eggys is not my favorite breakfast restaurant but it isn't bad.

Yelp
Time - Sunday morning 8AM Place - Eggy's on 14th Street Us - two seniors I was quite impressed by the variety on the menu which always makes decisions difficult. My wife, on the other hand, always gets a short stack, no matter we go. The service was prompt and friendly. The food came to the table quickly, and hot. I had the Cinnamon Bun pancakes, half order, which was a good portion size. A full serving would have been enough for two. Definitely a go to spot if I am back in town for breakfast.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Eggy's last week. I visited on Friday in the early afternoon, so there was no wait. I was quickly greeted by my server and ordered the Midwestern Skillet, which came with a pancake on the side. The menu had a large variety and I changed my mind several times before landing on my final answer. The skillet was huge and delicious. I loved the flavors and appreciated the restaurant accommodating my request for no mushrooms. The pancake was also very tasty--light and fluffy. I would definitely return to Eggy's upon a future trip to the area!

Yelp
A Must-Visit in Downtown Minneapolis! This restaurant is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Parking is hassle-free, as you can validate at the lot across the street. The staff are incredibly attentive, going above and beyond to ensure you have the best dining experience possible. The food is cooked to order, always arriving fast and piping hot. The walls are adorned with beautiful art and pieces of Minnesota history, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. Whether you're a local or just visiting Minneapolis, I highly recommend checking out this spot--you're sure to have a great time!

Yelp
I've rated this place 4-stars in the past, but I'm dropping that to 3-stars now. Loud rap music is not what I want to hear at Noon on a Sunday. Many of the tables were not cleaned off when we were there. Just in general, the quality of the staff, service, atmosphere, and food seems to be slipping.

Yelp
We got the Denver omelette. Huge portion. Omelette was ok. A little more cheese would have been nice, it was kinda dry. Two eggs with meat. It was good. Standard, hard to mess up. Country benedict was probably the best dish. Biscuits were fluffy. It was two biscuits cut in half. Two pieces had sausage patties with gravy and the other two pieces had poached eggs and gravy. Eggs cooked perfect and gravy had nice flavor. Same potatoes came with all dishes. They were not great. They were fried, very crispy and greasy. They needed seasoning as well. They weren't our favorite. I could see parking being a little tricky since alot of people who live around the area park on the street. We came at 7:30am and got one of the last spots by the restaurant and we were one of two tables sat inside. Service was good. Our waitress was kind.

Yelp
Overall it was pretty good but the food was not very flavorful. Service was decently fast and food came pretty quick. The mood was kind of odd for a Sunday morning, the music choice I thought was different.

Steven S.

Yelp
I have been there since, but usually weekday afternoons when it is not busy. The service is pretty decent then... and the servers are friendly. I love the veggie omelette and toast; coffee usually good(at $3.75!). Eggy's continues to be one of my two favorite breakfast places; the other is in St Paul.

Yelp
Food 3/5 - The grilled chicken Cobb was okay but I would recommend sticking to the breakfast items on the menu. Ambiance/ Service 1/5 - We had a server named Elizabeth C. and it was just an overall unpleasant experience. I always give people the benefit of the doubt but she was pretty rude and standoffish. Insisted on giving us our bill right after we got our food. It wasn't even busy. We thought maybe a staffing change, nope, she was cutting up with other customers and still waiting tables for other people. Very odd interaction!
google avatar

Yelp
"Diner" is the appropriate description here. The service was timely and coffee hot. The bustle of the mostly full room was comforting, and manageable (volume). We were seated quickly, offered our choice of beverage shortly thereafter and submitted our order within minutes. The food arrived within a reasonable period of time and service was consistent and attentive despite the full room. Our food was fairly tasty but I've definitely had better corned beef hash before - probably won't order that again, but I'd definitely come back and try some off the other offerings. I love the non-franchise, local and unique vibe -- high recommend.

Yelp
Great dinner with all the classics plus some more interesting options as well. Coffee, juice, or alcoholic beverages to complement great food. Solid service as well. Enjoyed it!

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed Eggy Benedict and freshly made coffee. The service was slow due to under staffing on the day of our visit (early morning hours). My husband likes his Chilaquiles. Very friendly atmosphere.

Yelp
Went to Eggy's for a work breakfast during the week and it wasn't busy at all. I loved how bright and open the space is! We started with two coffees and chatted for a bit. Although it wasn't busy, service was pretty slow. When we ordered our food it was out in less than 3 minutes. That concerned me a bit and I assumed food is cooked prior and then reheated. The French toast and American skillet was okay. I could tell it wasn't made fresh, but it wasn't the worst meal ever. Our server was super sweet and helpful when she came to check on us. This spot is located near Loring park which parking is a little tricky. Not sure I would put this on my list to go out of your way to visit, unless you're in the area.

Yelp
A friend and I went on a weekend. It was packed, they seemed short-staffed but were doing their best. Parking is a mess (weather-dependent) but they validate 90 minutes. By the time we got to sit, order, and eat, 90 minutes were gone. The crepe was eggy, which I didn't mind but my friend hated it. Biscuits and gravy were okay. I'd still recommend this place because their menu is robust and it's a cute joint.

Yelp
If I could this a negative number I would. Elizabeth was the nastiest manager I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with. Our food was not up to par with standard sodium consumption laws. I had a salt mine on my plate. Don't even get me started on the OJ(not the killer). I've had better juice for less than what I was robbed at this Mid-stablishment. Worst $10 spent. My friend didn't even finish his plate, only for him to get yelled at by Elizabeth (manager) about how he should've said something earlier. Its not our job to detect the salt content in our food. A couple other friends of ours didn't even eat. The "crepe" could be considered an omelette with the amount of eggs that were in it. The yogurt was warm. On top of that, she wouldn't let us leave the restaurant. All we wanted was to pay and go, She sent the waiters and cooks to us to speak to them and tell them how they failed at their job. This was either a form of humiliating them, or an attempt to manipulate us. She sent the Spanish speaking staff to speak to us. Almost as if she was assuming we didn't speak good English. She made one of the servers cry due to this and made a whole scene at the restaurant. Not only do I not recommend eating here, I would also stay away from working at an abusive workplace where the manager banters at the customer. Like it or not, we gave you business, paid and were still treated like garbage.

Yelp
I consistently order from Eggy's, and it's so dang good. Usually my "go to" is the Eggy's benedict...my only wish is that they'd package the mini waffles separately, because every time I ordered it as a delivery...the waffles are basically mush by the time they get to my home. Hey, don't get me wrong - they are delicious mush! But yeah, that's my only suggestion. The Eggy's potatoes are some of the BEST breakfast potatoes in the city, by far. So yummy.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
It's fine. That is what we said about everything. Not bad, not great...fine. Which is fine I guess. Bloody Mary was fine. The pickles were nice and spicy. Maybe one of the only places to not include a chaser/snit in MN. French toast was fine. Eggs were fine. Potatoes were fine. Service was fine. Ambiance was fine. Parking is a bit of a pain. Likely won't return as there are so many other fantastic breakfast/brunch places.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast with our daughter. The service was super fast & we loved our "comfort food" breakfast of the cinnamon pancakes. Odd that they were playing Mexican music, but I guess that adds to the charm. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
A MUST VISIT!! I'm an early bird and was able to find Eggy's Diner open at 7am on Saturday. The minute I walked in with my friends we were seated right away. Our waitress was so sweet and quick. Since we were a group of 4 we ordered Eggy's Burrito $15 (IT'S HUGE AND WE COULDN'T FINISH IT , extremely tastyyyyyyy) Eggy's Breakfast Sandwich $12.75 (really tasty and swapped the bacon with turkey sausage) Stuffed French Toast $13 (the filling was citrus mascarpone which was exceptional) Avocado Toast $11 (had mix feelings about this because there was barley any avocados- would not recommend this dish -very simple ) Caramel Lattes $5.50 (latte $4.75 + caramel syrup $0.75) - tasted different than a usual latte but would not order it again. Overall the place is a vibe, quick and delicious! Definitely coming here again when I visit Minneapolis again!

Yelp
We were in town for a concert, and based on the reviews, this place seemed like a good choice. First impressions of the place, the restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Typical urban retro look. The hostess was not welcoming or friendly. Front of the house first impressions are important. She didn't even welcome us or smile. The waitress was very nice and friendly, though. The coffee was good but a bit acidic. I don't know if it was Collectivo coffee, but I am assuming it was because of the signage on the wall. Overall, food was mediocre. Pancakes were flat. Chocolate chip pancakes didn't have the chips folded in the batter. Just melted on top. Biscuits and gravy side was okay. I never had it with green onions before. Green onions were overpowering. The sausage was way too sweet. It must have been maple and brown sugar. Overall, it wasn't one of my favorite places food wise, plus it was pretty pricey. 3 pancake meals, 3 sides, and 2 drinks totaled around $67 without tip.

Yelp
Eggys was delicious and our service was impeccable, but there was a big issue. The entire restaurant had no bread or bananas. We were not notified prior to being seated, so we could have gone to our back up option. Instead we ordered our coffees and then when the server was ready, we were told there was no bread or bananas. Half our party was not content whatsoever, while the other half was okay, considering they didn't need bread or bananas. For a total of 7 adults and 2 kids I paid about $160+ Would we go back, maybe half the party, but with more decent options around the corner, Eggys is probably a big pass. Cheers to actual food that's stated on the menu Yelpers xx

Yelp
Before heading to the airport, I stopped by Eggy's Diner for breakfast. My usual choice for breakfast or brunch when available is chilequiles. However, when the chilequiles arrived, I couldn't help but think that the chef or the restaurant had never truly tasted authentic chilequiles. The dish appeared more like salsa on tortilla chips with over-easy eggs and crema on top, and it didn't resemble chilequiles at all. Because of that, I rate this place a three.
google avatar

Kari E.

Yelp
3.5 Stars The place is fairly small and was quite busy on a Saturday around 11, but we only had to wait approx. 15 minutes for a table for 2. Im a sucker for anything with chorizo so I went with the Mexican skillet and it was excellent. Very tasty, the potatoes were really good and crispy. Eggs are eggs. The (sourdough) toast was pretty underwhelming and wasn't buttered. Soda was flat. Brunchmate had the standard eggs/bacon plate and added a pancake with blueberries that she said was good (blueberries IN and ON the pancake). Parking is difficult on the weekends but a great place to walk to.

Yelp
Breakfast at Eggy's 1) Seafood Benedict (7.5/10) - Wasnt expecting a cooked Salmon for breakfast 2) Florentine Benedict (7/10) - Potatoes were cold, benedict was good 3) Crunchy Nutella French Toast (7.5/10) 4) Old Fashioned Pancakes with powdered sugar - (7.5/10) Overall Food & Vibe 7.3/10
google avatar

Whitney T.

Yelp
Breakfast tacos were crispy and everything they needed to be the star of the show for me was the crispy breakfast potatoes dipped in a sour cream, it was Bussin (as the kids say ).
google avatar

Glenn N.

Yelp
In an empty restaurant, after over 20 minutes, you can't even get silverware or coffee let alone your order. Don't come unless you have all day and then cross your fingers.
google avatar

Ken G.

Yelp
This was my first time here and overall, I had a good experience. I had the Breakfast Poutine, which is one of their more unique menu offerings. This dish was actually pretty good - the combination of fries and cheese curds was decadent; the eggs and smothering of sausage gravy added some extra richness. If I visit this spot again, I'd probably get this dish again. I also shared an order of the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes - I actually found this dish to be pretty disappointing...the flavor was just okay, but the worse part was that the dish was served cold...I think I discovered that I don't care for cold pancakes. The service was friendly and the ambiance is casual and easy-going. With a large menu of offerings, there's something for everyone.

Yelp
I haven't been to Eggy's since the pandemic, but I was excited to come back! From what I could tell, the menu hadn't changed. I've had their Eggy's Benedict too many times to count, so I figured it was time to try something new. They lost 1 star because of how crowded the place was. There were too many tables in the place. You literally are touching shoulders with the table next to you. Not to mention, our table was right next to the front door. So we were hit with cold waves of air every time the door opened. It was unpleasant. But the food and service were excellent. Food: New York French Toast: 5/5. Honestly, I just wanted to have a plate of plain french toast. This seemed the closest fit. Surprisingly, it wasn't too sweet. I would order this dish again. Chilaquiles: 5/5. Can't go wrong with this dish. Turtle Pancakes: 4/5. I thought these were a little too sweet. But if you have a sweet tooth, it's the perfect dish for you!
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
Presentation was wonderful, the food itself was good. I felt like there was so much that the flavors weren't balancing quite right in the Cobb salad. The cinnamon roll pancakes were good but you definitely need a sweet tooth to truly enjoy the dish. Staff was kind and the ambiance was okay, it felt a little too crowded because the tables were so close together.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm visiting from out of town, and I absolutely love the vibe of this place. Their home made salsa that comes with the Spanish Omelette is amazing. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Nick N.

Yelp
Great unique breakfast options. Some fun omelet and skillet options. I visited around 10am on a Friday morning and was served hot food and cold brew right away. No lines no waiting - No complaints at all! Great service/staff. Everything was easy and tasty.

J I.

Yelp
The food was great! The service was even better. Nice ambiance light jazz music in the background. Eugenia was very pleasant with tons of suggestions. I asked for tea with honey and the honey was warm!!! Very good for a cold December day. On my next trip to Minneapolis Eggy's will be on my list of places to visit. THANKS EUGENIA !!!!

Yelp
Wanted to send food back but was scared it would be worse than the 1st time. I got recommendations from TikTok that this was the brunch place to go. Please don't do it very disappointing.

Yelp
Outstanding service with large portions. Really excellent range of menu. Be aware that parking can be difficult on a Sunday morning. They are an great place for breakfast or lunch

Tawanda R.

Yelp
Service was simply... ok. I placed an online order. Walked in, 3 employees were hanging at the counter, no one spoke or addressed me. Only 1 employee was busy. Who should have been the hostess, looked at me & continued to dink around with whatever she was doing. I asked for assistance from 3 ppl, 1 didn't speak English (which is nice in my opinion to hire someone who doesn't & that there is no limitations who is hired) 2nd employee looked clueless & the 3rd (who in think was the hostess) finally offered to assist me. She told me my order would be up in 5-10 min. Tiona or Theona *spelling* saved the day tho. I haven't been to Eggys since they first opened and I'd always wanted to come back. I've lived near them for the last 2 years & finally had an opportunity to visit again. Im not sure if I'll come back. If I do, Theona/Pheona would have to be my server. She saw me go sit in the lobby/sitting area & came to ask me if I had placed a To-go order & asked for my name. She also said she would check on it for me & bring it to me when it was up. Once up, she definitely brought it out. She definitely changed my outlook on Eggys. I just think customer service is so important & ignoring me and making me look for someone to assist me is not good service.
google avatar

Yelp
The restaurant was clean and the staff attentive when we arrived. the tables were clean and set for guest. The menu was above average for a diner! The food came and was perfect 10. I had breakfast tacos my daughter had glazed banana waffle. Both items were fresh hot and delicious. My plate came with fried potatoes as well. (see photos). I used the restroom and it was outstandly clean. I told the server what a wonderfu restaurant they had. 100% recommend
google avatar

Bridget L.

Yelp
Service was a tad slow, but they were busy. It was nice to check in online and skip much of the wait when we got there. We eggs Benedict were pretty good. The place is tiny but has a lot of personality.
google avatar

Wade K.

Yelp
A great little local diner in downtown Minnie. Can be a bit crowded at times but the people are friendly and the food is good. Service is quick and QR code pay makes it easy to get in and out quickly. I had a cup of coffee and the corned beef and hash, with sourdough toast. Food was hot and served quickly but coffee was not anything special (just simple black) and especially for $4 a cup. The price had me doing a double take for one cup, no refill. I don't expect much from diner coffee other than it is hot, free flowing and cheap. Overall a great place to stop in while in downtown, sit at the bar if you like a little conversation with your brunch. Give Eggy's a try but likely pass on the coffee, not worth the cost.
google avatar

Henry W.

Yelp
The food was tasty, but the shining star of the experience was the coffee. I had a hazelnut latte with soy milk and it was incredible. The espresso was very flavorful and was balanced well with the syrup and milk. A must try for coffee lovers.
google avatar

Raj D.

Yelp
Pretty sure your results may vary. Let's start with why they got this stellar review. I was spotting for a different Diner and they had just moved. I saw Eggys and thought hey... Chicago? So I stopped in. The wait person Sat me down in ten seconds. Places my order in two minutes. Received it in seven mn. Now to be fair... I came in at 10:30 AM when it was not very busy at all. The food was really good. Not greasy. I mean it tasted like what I make for my kids. And they had varieties of hot sauce. I ordered eggs over easy. Pancakes. Sausage. Bacon and coffee. The coffee is mediocre. Everything else was awesome.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
This was my favorite breakfast place when I lived in Loring Park. Sadly with the pandemic, the quality and service was not the same anymore. I used to take my friends when they are in town here. They are very short-staffed, I think both servers and kitchen. It was very empty on a Saturday morning when we arrived. Usually they are very busy during the weekend, about 45-1 hour wait. We got Eggy's Benedict, Eggy's Combo, Eggy's Crepe, and The Verb. Eggy's Benedict: very good, sweet & savory from pulled pork and waffle. Eggy's Combo: comes with eggs, sausage, bacon and pancakes. Pancakes were a bit dry and crunch, not very fluffy. Eggy's Crepe: was so so, crepes were a bit burn. The Verb: Didn't come with avocado even though it said so on the menu, and veggies were not evenly distributed in the omelet OJ: good, fresh squeezed It took a while for the food to come out despite the empty restaurant. Understand that they are short staffed, so the wait was ok. But quality of food should still be consistent. Was excited to come back here when i was in the twin cities, but i left a bit disappointed with the experience.

Lexi M.

Yelp
Great service and great breakfast with a good menu. We stopped here for our last breakfast in the city and I had an amazing veggie skillet. My fiancé ordered the Irish Skillet and it was delicious. They had a really cute outdoor patio area for anyone who wants to enjoy the weather outside. Great service and really fast!
google avatar

Rachael G.

Yelp
We parked about two blocks away, it was somewhat difficult to find a spot. Had fast service and were sat quickly! We beat the breakfast rush for sure, because after we were sat, a line was forming. Food was great! I had French toast with a side of scrambled eggs. My table all ordered something different and their food looked so tasty! They had some fun cocktails on the menu as well that would be fun to try. Our server was attentive and the overall feel of the restaurant was relaxed yet upbeat. I would definitely go again!

Lilliana C.

Yelp
out of town for work, ordered nutella crepes. As a huge nutella fan, was sad to find no nutella inside the crepes and and not much on top:( Yummy crepes but was hoping for more chocolate

Yelp
Nice place. Friendly staff, good food, and home feel. Come early as it's really popular naturally!

Shawn L.

Yelp
Do not ever go here. You will never, ever want to leave. The food is absolutely first-rate, the service excellent! Enjoyed a skillet/dish of their Corned Beef Hash, added extra eggs and I was in heaven. They make their own Corned Beef, so it's delicious. The home-fries are a nice compliment but I'm still a hash brown guy. Bottomless coffee, they leave a carafe on the table. Yum. Oh, and there's a parking garage next door, Eggy's validates for 90 minutes.
google avatar

Adriana G.

Yelp
I've ate at Eggy's probably three times now. My taste meter tells me this is a very standard breakfast spot, I guess I expected more out of it due to the hype of it. It is good. This place is ideal for those with a normal appetite. They offer sweet, salty and simple meals that anyone can enjoy. No big servings here. As a Mexican, their chilaquiles weren't my favorite and they don't compete with my expectation of what chilaquiles should taste like. Their salsa was tomato sauce, not a salsa. However, it's a tasty dish.

Yelp
Still a great spot for brunch in Minneapolis. Food is always fresh, delicious, and great portions. Inside and outside seating. Good service, friendly and helpful. Some new items on the menu, the biscuits and gravy with fried chicken is amazing. Definitely a must try. Tip: try the cry baby Craig's habanero garlic hot sauce.
