The 12 Best Restaurants in Granbury, Texas | Eater Dallas

"A fine-dining experience with rustic charm is the hallmark of Eighteen Ninety. The menu features primarily American fare, and the shrimp and grits is a popular item. However, the small escargot plate offers a unique departure from the norm if you are willing to try it. While you’re there, ask your waitress about the celebrities that have dined there and their favorite dishes. Rumor has it that Tom Hanks is rather fond of the green beans." - Leslie Chatman

Came here for my dads birthday and so glad we did. The food was incredible and the service and atmosphere were top notch! Can’t wait to come back!

1890 is a true hole-in-the-wall gem, and it’s almost unbelievable that it’s in Granbury—it could easily hold its own in Dallas and absolutely thrive. The food is outstanding and consistently excellent, and the service is top-notch. They have a small shop where you can buy dressings and spice rubs. It’s set in a charming, old-fashioned atmosphere, it’s a perfect spot for a date night, family dinner, or special occasion, as it’s guaranteed to meet expectations. I highly recommend the duck. We gladly make the hour-and-a-half drive whenever we get the chance—it’s just that good.

Google
This was an absolutely spectacular experience for both of us. The staff was attentive and engaging. The food was amazing, cooked to perfection from appetizers to the main dish. The decor was refreshing and elegant. The artwork was from a local artist and added to the ambiance of the room. This is a definite return visit. We heard that the upstairs is even better.

The food was simply incredible - a circus of flavors that all complimented each other. I had the best pork I've ever eaten in my lifetime! Truly amazing! The only thing better was our service! Martha was gracious, smart, personal, and made the night absolutely perfect!!!

I ordered the duck, and substituted the grits for mashed potatoes. My husband ordered the pork chop, no substitutions. We also ordered a Trilogy skewer. The duck and pork were both delicious. The trilogy skewer seemed a little dry, but pork bite had a really good flavor. Our waitress brought us a complementary dessert for the occasion of our anniversary. We chose the Kahlua cake. It was divine. While the food was really good, nothing about our experience screamed the prices listed on the menu. We frequent upscale restaurants and expected the same atmosphere and experience here.

Google
Upscale dining experience. Our salads, entrees and desserts have all been excellent. Loved the chicken with blueberry demi glace was enough for me to take home for dinner the following night. The cheesecake with strawberry sauce was amazing! Wonderful place to celebrate a special event.

Google
We booked this restaurant as our first meal in Texas after a long drive and it could not have been better. Everyone was so welcoming and the service was attentive throughout our meal. The wine list was impressive and I enjoyed my cocktail which was well-made. You have to start with the Texas Trilogy as an appetizer. All 3 were mouth watering. While my companion's steak was cooked to his specifications and delicious, I did not regret getting the pan seared duck. It paired perfectly with the grits and the portion was exactly what I wanted after the appetizers. Definitely visit here for a special occasion or date night if you're in Granbury!

My husband and I came to visit this spot on our 16th anniversary and we LOVED it! The owner or manager was very friendly and welcoming. The store part where they sell olive oil was amazing and the lady who worked there was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was AMAZING! Next time we will have to stay and dine in.

Yelp
We thought we would try this restaurant yesterday evening, and we were not disappointed!! We visit Granbury every weekend or so and stay out on the lake. We plan to try all the local spots and figured tonight we would have a taste of this one. Based on the restaurant, we wanted to make sure we would be dressed appropriately as neither of us wanted to change after making the drive out. After calling, the dress code was "polished" casual and thankfully there was no waitlist on as of yet on Thursday. The staff greeted us promptly and were friendly, and our server, Cruz, was very attentive and delivered outstanding service. We started by enjoying their Potato Leek soup. It was presented beautifully and every bite was delightful. We then shared a very large dinner Ahi Tuna salad and enjoyed the complimentary two-color bread and garlic dipping oil. I forgot to take pics but when I remembered I was half way there helping the meal. We both ordered duck (one of our favorites), though they had many enticing dishes to try, like their house-aged beef or their Chilean Sea Bass (another fave). We paired our entrees with a wonderful red wine and proceeded to enjoy our meal. We ended with ordering two to-go desserts (forgot to get those pics too). Both their Traditional Banana Pudding and their Kahlua Infused Chocolate Cake w/Salted Carmel Glaze were delicious, with our favorite being the chocolate cake. With tip, it came to over $200 for two, so no different than what you'd expect out on the town in downtown Dallas. A must to try if you are in the area and want to tickle your taste buds with some elegant bites! Note - the website only lists some of the delectable dishes they serve nightly.

Yelp
We ate here for dinner on Friday night and enjoyed it. The ambiance of the restaurant was solid, and our waitress Jessica did a great job. Mackenzie was very friendly as well. As for the food, it was delicious! The spinach & artichoke dip with crab on top was absolutely money. The wedge salad was solid as well, and the center cut filet was very tasty. We would eat here again for sure.

Yelp
Very nice meal. We've been here before. Service and food this time, same as last - very good. If I had any complaint, it's the cost. But we knew this in advance. Our waiter was fairly attentive and available to us. We got water, bread and oil brought out quickly. We took our time and ordered our meals about 30 minutes in. We had a delightful time sipping our wine and cocktails until dinner came. Our food was excellent. We were running short on time (we allowed ourselves 2 hours) so we had to rich dessert and coffee to make a 7:30 concert nearby. I had the Chicken Breast dinner and my wife had the Sea Bass. Both were great. Our friends had the Beef Filet and the Duck. They enjoyed both. We will come back :)

Yelp
The food, ambiance and location were great. The staff was not and soured the experience significantly. In addition, the extraordinarily high bill was most definitely not worth it. There are too many wonderful places to go for great steaks in Texas and they also deliver genuine southern hospitality to go with them. Save your money for those.

Yelp
The food is good here - We ordered the snails and ahi sear tuna, duck breast, salmon, and chicken breast. - Snail was in a delicious creamy sauce - Ahi Sear Tina was good, but nothing to rave about - Duck breast was okay - Salmon was okay - good flavor - chicken was dried It took over 40 mins for our food and the price of the food for only being okay, we wouldn't go back. The atmosphere was nice

Yelp
In Granbury for work, and you seriously cannot go wrong with anything here. We absolutely loved Eighteen Ninety. Katy was our server, she was fantastic. The food was incredible but our server was better. If Katy had been our waiter at a chain restaurant my experience would have been just as good. I cannot wait until I'm in town again to eat here.

Kelli E.

Yelp
This place is amazing. From the market to the bar to the restaurant it was all fabulous. Food is prepared well, service was impeccable- Kendall was our server. A true 5star experience. I had the blackberry chicken. Others in my party had salmon, sea bass, and the filet. All were outstanding

Kelly D.

Yelp
Service in the bar is atrocious! The bar personnel were rude and inattentive. The hostess acts like an entitled brat. The owners should really take a step back and improve their hiring practices. You've received the last penny from me. Beware of this establishment.

Yelp
Five stars for the service, food, and ambiance! We showed up early for our reservation and the staff had our table set already. Cody was our server and he was sweet with a fun sense of humor. He was very personable and made our dining experience feel special. The decorations are a conversation in themselves. There's an old grand piano that is over 100yrs old. The hanging lights are really fanciful but elegant. It's really tasteful in the restaurant. Now to the food! I figured this is my first time in Texas I should try a southern staple and ordered the shrimp and grits. Oh my goodness, it's sooooo good! The shrimp was well cooked and not over done and they're huge! The grits were smooth and soaked up all the cream sauce. The sauce is so good you want to sop it up with the house bread. I had to balance the richness of the shrimp and grits with a Caesar salad. Their salad was made proper with anchovies and garlic. Probably one of the best salads I've ever had! For dessert we had crème brûlée and it was done proper. The custard was smooth and velvety and not overly sweet. Overall, one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Thank you to the staff to make our dining experience feel special for my mom and I.

Yelp
Highly recommend love the bone-in rib eye and the grilled sea bass! Service is great!

Carr H.

Yelp
We went here based on a recommendation of friends. Wow great great food. On the pricey side for sure, however, we had an exceptional meal. Steaks are perfection. They marinate those steaks along time to get them to perfection We celebrated a birthday so it was so enjoyable. Great service, great food and great company. Chic decor. This Place is one of those special occassion once a year dinner spots but you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Wow, just wow! The ambiance, service, and food is incredible at 1890 Grille. Outstanding wine list, too. Shortly after being seated and serving wine, our amazing waitress, Hannah brought out fresh, warm bread and an infused olive oil. The wedge was crisp and topped with the perfect in-house blue cheese dressing. Center Cut Filet was cooked to perfection and accompanied by savory potatoes and green beans. We also shared a Bacon-Jalapeño Mac & Cheese. Who could resist? The Shrimp and Grits were out of this world. The flavors and textures complemented so well. Our happy ending was the superb Signature Banana Pudding with Grand Marnier, toasted almonds, and salted caramel. We left so happy and can't wait to return!

Yelp
Came here for my anniversary last night and it was an amazing experience. Our server Alyssa warmly and very happily greeted us. She gave us outstanding recommendations of what to try, as well as what wasn't a customer favorite. In addition we got a free dessert because it was our anniversary. I got the sea bass and my Wife got the shrimp and grits. it was very good. I also got the Caesar salad and bacon jalapeño Mac and cheese. The salad was amazing and the Mac and cheese wasn't as cheesy as I hoped. We both agreed the grits weren't the best but we're still good. Overall a very pleasurable experience and one we would enjoy again.

Rob R.

Yelp
Not at all a high end place as they think. The menu is old and service come with a price that you are not expecting. Inconsistent at best. Good luck

Laura O.

Yelp
The food was delicious, best steak I've ever had! Our waiter Zach was wonderful. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great scene at 1890 with a cool / laid-back vibe to the place . Our server - Canadian Sheigh was funny, friendly and on-pointe with table service. We loved the Texas trilogy appetizer with bacon-wrapped quail, chicken and beef tenderloin - an awesome jalapeño ranch dipping sauce as well. Seared ahi-tuna was flavorful and the big blue cheese wedge salad was fantastic. Great meal at an impressive restaurant.

Yelp
I wish I could give more stars. What an amazing restaurant. From the bar you can eat in to the white table cloth dining you can do in the main dining room. The restaurant in set in one of the original building in Granbury square. The food is all sourced locally from the the steak and chicken dishes. The service is second to none here. The bar staff is awesome and they know their locals.

Jerry J.

Yelp
Great food and service. Perfect for special events or occasions. We have been several times, always had a great experience.
google avatar

Courtney R.

Yelp
The stuffed mushrooms were a delicious and light appetizer to start. Our server, Kendall was absolutely amazing and made our anniversary one to remember.

Brianna H.

Yelp
Ambiance, cocktails, and beef.. all in one place. Service was excellent. Located on the lovely Granbury square.
google avatar

Deborah P.

Yelp
Ambiance, food and service are always the best. You can't go wrong at Eighteen Ninety Grille.

Leah L.

Yelp
Delicious! It's a great "date" place or a celebration meal. It's kinda spendy, but the food is so worth it. We had excellent service also.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
We come here for celebrations and it never gets old. Great service, great food! Love the Texas trilogy, could literally eat everyday if they packaged it.

Chris C.

Yelp
Bartenders were great. My cocktails were made according to specifications perfectly. Yum. Food: potato leek soup was yummy. Wedge salad was subpar, slightly boring. I wouldn't order it again. Filet entree: I had them re-cook it properly and when they brought it back, the potatoes were cold and steak was overcooked. I was particularly irritated that they would serve a $60 steak with cold potatoes. I asked them to take it off the menu. The server did not apologize & was irritated with me. No manager came out to talk to me at all, which I think is very unprofessional.. i left the restaurant hungry. I would never go back there for a meal, but I would go back there for the cocktails. Bartenders were very good.

Karina D.

Yelp
We've eaten here in the past, and it was very good. I made reservations to go with my mother (who is handicapped and can't do stairs) to get there and find out they were only seating upstairs with no handicap access. When I mentioned their website and/or reservation service should have advised us of such, the hostess made it worse by telling me that well they had an event going on which is why they weren't seating downstairs - therefore confirming they KNEW this could be a potential issue, but obviously don't care. So instead we went down the road to the Mesquite Pit and had a lovely dinner there instead.

Jack P.

Yelp
Great service, Great food, Great everyday setting or special celebration. Recommend visiting the shop downstairs as well for any spices needed for the house.
google avatar

Margie W.

Yelp
A great restaurant for romantic and family celebratory dining. The menu offers a variety sure to please everyone in your party. Reservations will insure that your table is ready when you arrive. Bon appétit!

Doc F.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and wonderful food! I am looking forward for to coming back again! I recommend them for date night!

Sandi S.

Yelp
Our go to for a night on the Square. The food, cocktails and service are all top notch. My only negative is the small menu. After being several times, we've tried just about everything and off menu special are not offered.
google avatar

Tracie H.

Yelp
My ABSOLUTE favorite place in Granbury to dine. The Ahi Tuna is out of this world, and staff is very kind.

Yelp
We celebrated my birthday at 1890 Grille while spending time in Granbury. The restaurant is located downtown and is close to the opera house and the courthouse. The ambiance is nice and feels retro to the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. It is dark and intimate with beautiful exposed brick. The hostess greeted us warmly and we were seated upstairs. All of the staff wore masks and the tables are spaced 6 feet apart in deference to COVID-19. We were brought a basket of warm Braided Bread fresh from the oven. It was good. My husband and I shared a large appetizer- Spinach Dip with Tortilla Chips. The entree menu options are very, very heavily on the carnivore side so as a vegetarian, I had to get creative to just get something without meat in it. I went with the Bacon Jalapeño MAC and Cheese without the bacon and jalapeños. It had a 4 cheese sauce and was topped with panko crumbs. My husband had the Rib Eye Steak with Shrimp and was very pleased. I was given my choice of complimentary desserts for my birthday and chose the NY Style Cheesecake with Strawberries. This was presented beautifully, including a fiery sparkler on top. My husband had Banana Pudding and I think my dessert tasted better for sure. The restaurant is nice and the staff is quite friendly. I personally would love it if they had some plant based protein offerings added to the menu to broaden their appeal to vegetarians like me.

Yelp
We were extremely displeased with eighteen ninety. We are from Fort Worth and were in the area and decided to try eighteen ninety on a Tuesday night. My partners pork chop was cold. My steak was the worst I have ever had. My steak was originally brought out rare, when I ordered a medium. I sent the steak back to which it was brought medium rare. Once I finally received a properly cooked filet, it was tough from being cut and cooked so many times. It was not seasoned. It was honestly traumatic to be charged so much for such bad service and quality food. I was in no way offered for my meal to be comped or for a new steak. I was just offered a free dessert which I could not eat due to the horrible meal. I spoke with a manager who just responded with "Well I wish I knew about this sooner. Write down your experience for the owners and we will get back to you." Your staff never retrieved a manager for us to speak with, only to give us the run around until we were leaving. As you see I left a note which the other side included my email, name and phone number. I gave plenty of time for the restaurant to contact me. It just feels like they are crooks who stole my money. I am not a person to write a negative review unless the location truly was not up to standard. Stay away if you are looking for a nice meal worth your time and money.

Ron M.

Yelp
Food quality and quantity leave a lot to be desired given the cost to eat here. Doesn't come close to say a Del Frisco or Bob's in food service or ambiance. For my money, save your money. It's very much overrated.
google avatar

Mary N.

Yelp
We were only here for happy hour but 30% off drinks in the bar area was great. They serve one of my husband's favorite red wines and one of my favorite cava. We did get an appetizer with three different meats. It was wonderful!
google avatar

Dusty R.

Yelp
We have a few good places to get a great steak in Granbury that's for sure But this place by far has the beat atmosphere and service. We had a party of 8 celebrating two birthdays. The waitstaff was stellar and of course the food was spot on Now....if you're looking for cheap food, this is not your spot. It's ery expensive, but you just cannot get this ambiance and service anywhere else in town. 5 star service 109%. No other restaurant within 50 miles comes close. If you're in Granbury and you are celebrating a special occasion or want to be spoiled this is your place. Be aware you will probably not get a table without reservations unless you're extremely lucky. It's always packed. They only open late on the afternoon. No lunch service. It's a good thing because if they did I would be there a few times a week. It's that good.
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
Such an elegant five star experience for such a small town. I highly recommend the spinach artichoke dip. It barely has spinach or artichoke but it has four incredible cheeses that blew my mind. I'd come back just for drinks and this appetizer. Everything on the menu has exceeded my expectations. The BlackBerry demi glacé chicken is remarkable. I've ordered it the last two times I've gone. My only suggestion is to find a different and better bread. The staff is the best Granbury has to offer. Service is always exceptional.
google avatar

Tracy R.

Yelp
This has always been my go to, first stop when I visit Granbury. (which lately has been monthly). This has been the first time service was disappointedly bad. There were 4 of us. We were sitting in the bar area. My 80 year old Mom was with us and does not drink so, like we do on every trip, she gets a coffee from Paradise next door and has that while we have cocktails. The bartender rudely advised us outside drinks were not allowed. We let her know it was coffee as my Mom doesn't drink and she said it still was not allowed. Now we had just been here in December and January and both times one or two in our party had brought their coffee in from next door. NEVER a problem before. I could see if we were all drinking something other than what they serve but the other 3 of us were ordering cocktails. So my Mom didn't want to waste it so she goes outside and sits to drink it but it was way too cold so we ended up dumping it so she could come back inside with us. As much as we spend on food and drinks here I would think a coffee from your neighboring business would be ok for an elderly woman to drink while still sitting with us in the bar.
google avatar

Frances S.

Yelp
This used to be a great fine dining restaurant. The food has taken a tragic downturn. If you want to waste over $100 a plate on dishes my grandmother could have cooked better- give it a try. The bar is still top notch!

Emily Ruth L.

Yelp
Delicious food! Good steaks and sides. Cute ambiance. Well priced. Good service. Make a reservation. We'll be back!

Amy O.

Yelp
Excellent dinner and a charming setting! They have a market attached and a separate bar that we did not go into but seemed like a fun atmosphere from what we could see. The meal was excellent, you get a lot of food for your money and our server was awesome.
google avatar

Kristi K.

Yelp
So good. The chicken is super good. Spinach and Mac are on point. Service is great! Drinks are good too! Highly recommend !

Landon M.

Yelp
Wow, what a great atmosphere nice and clean very delicious food ,and the Staff is wonderful there. Thanks Smokey's smoke shop
google avatar

Shelina K.

Yelp
So good. Love the atmosphere. The food is amazing and so are the drinks! It's pricey but worth it!

Kari-Anne W.

Yelp
My husband got a perfectly cooked steak and I got the sea bass. Both dishes were delicious and well worth the price. Desserts were amazing. This was our second time visiting and it was nothing short of Excellent. Easy to make reservations too. Our favorite Anniversary Dinner place!
google avatar

Trudy C.

Yelp
Im still craving this place! Goodness everything was great. The service, food and atmosphere was excellent. From the hostess stand to the taking of the check, every person at eighteen ninety was friendly, professional and helpful. Their steaks were excellently cooked and seasoned, their desserts were delectable. We had a table with a great view and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.

Rik T.

Yelp
Great menu, food and service on the square in Granbury. What more could you want. Prices are $$$ but worth it.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Very disappointed. This place is actually adorable and I'm sure would of been very good if they hadn't gave our table away! We had a reservation made a couple days ahead of time for upstairs. We got there early and they told us our table wasn't ready yet that we could wait in the bar area. They sat us in the bar area and gave away our table! Tried to say that the tiny high top under a TV was our table after they gave us the option to wait there or outside while our real table was cleaned. Super rude, we did not order food and left. We did however order drinks while waiting and those were very good. Hence two stars instead of one.

Kathy T.

Yelp
Order the Trio - (tenderloin, chicken and dove)! So tender with great flavors! The house salad came recommended to us and was very flavorful. The banana pudding was yummy as well. We look forward to going back and actually having an entree. If you can't make a reservation, the bar has open seating and will serve the full menu.
google avatar

Brandi P.

Yelp
Great little place in the Granbury town square. They sell spices, infused olive oils and infused vinegars. It smells great when you walk in, just take in a DEEP breath. I bought some Korean Black Garlic seasoning. I'm not sure what I will use it for, but it smelled amazing! You can taste and smell their products. The products are fantastic and the staff is extremely informative.

Yelp
Margarita Lovers Beware!! Been here twice in the last 3 months and sat at a table in the bar both times! Our first trip was a nice experience with friends from the drinks to the food, including dessert! Our issue/surprise was on our second trip we ordered Margarita's on the rocks with Blanco Tequila and no salt, just like we ordered on our 1st trip there! When the bill came we apparently were served very mediocre $27 a piece Margarita's(we had 3 each, do the math)! When we questioned the waitress she just said "you ordered a good Margarita with white tequila & these are what we have to offer"!! We paid our bill and walked out disappointed, broke & didn't even feel tipsy! So, this is just a heads up about the Very Expensive & not that Great $27 Margarita's at 1890!!
