San Francisco Bagel Shop Midnite Bagel Opens Austin Pop-Up for January | Eater Austin

"I found Midnite Bagel, a San Francisco shop run by founder Nick Beitcher, currently slinging bagels in January at Zilker neighborhood hotel the Loren as a month-long pop-up. The menu includes bagels in plain, everything, buckwheat–black sesame, and cinnamon-raisin, paired with cream cheeses like jalapeño, plain, and scallion; there are also open-face sandwiches such as one with smoked salmon and another topped with vegetables like onions and sprouts. The bakery’s breads (buckwheat black sesame, pumpernickel) and baked goods and snacks—granola, buckwheat banana muffins, and everything cookies—are also on offer. Beitcher previously worked at essential San Francisco bakery Tartine, started Midnite as a pop-up in 2018, briefly opened a physical bakery, and now sells bagels out of a commissary kitchen and at farmers markets. The Austin pop-up runs January 1–31 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (or until sold out), and a portion of proceeds will go to the Loren’s nonprofit, Loren Roots Imperative, to help offset carbon footprints." - Nadia Chaudhury

I had a decently large order for takeout that was ordered 2.5 hours prior to the pickup time. I arrived and had to wait an extended 35 minutes to receive the food as they started making it as soon as I got there for pick up. There were no prior customers there that would have taken priority over my order either. They were very slow and inconsistent. Would not recommend for take out. The rest of the people that showed up in the mean time were told they had to wait 20-30 minutes for their orders as well.

KT was goated. W experience. food was fresh KT himself said my sandwich wasn’t fresh enough for me and remade it on the spot. Ray and Naomi were so nice and helpful they should be the CEO‼️

Sometimes I order online to pick something up, most often a Nova Lox bagel sandwich. Of course they are tasty but I have found significant INCONSISTENCY in terms of how much lox [especially] & other toppings are included; at least once, I was pleasantly surprised, but other times, somewhat dissatisfied. The photo on the official menu indicates they should be loaded much better! And the spreading of my shmear can be kinda sad. I expect something slightly special for $11. 😅 IMO there should also be a place in the online ordering form to further customize beyond type of bagel and whether it's toasted and/or thinned. For example, to request adjustment of toppings e.g. light onions or no capers. Perhaps even a choice of shmear. Finally, be sure to check your bag before you leave when picking up because they may forget to add the bag of chips, for example. The cashier was glad to grab me one, but just sayin'. Common sense practice is best. I recommend Nervous Charlie's on North Lamar for bagels & bagel sandwiches. **Photos show my bagel sandwich (none consumed yet, as it came) & ticket from 9/26/24.**

Went to the Einstein Bagel on Guad and service was terrible. Asked for my 3 bagels to be toasted and they weren’t. And on top of that, there was a random piece of bacon on my plain bagel…. AND IM VEGETARIAN. Awful. Never go there. I called them back and they didn’t even care.

I've been coming to this Einstein's for decades. The managers and staff have been great during that whole time. The staff is excellent and always hustling. A larger staff would be helpful.

Very disappointed with what I received, I paid almost $11 for a sandwich that’s missing half of the cheese if you look closely. Look what they’re advertising on the website what they’re actually selling. I order 4X sandwich paid more than $50 and more including the fees. Please please!!!! Look at the staff that’s working this morning of 11/3 they need BIG TIME HELP!

I had no issues with supply or service. Super nice staff ordered quick had my Order out in less than 5 minutes. Tasted fresh and the bagel was fantastic. I liked the sausage egg and cheese the best.
