"The location, on the docks of Ciboure overlooking the port, is eminently suited to a restaurant called "storm" (ekaitza in Basque). The eatery’s interior, meanwhile, is bright and lively, with pretty carpentry tables from which you can steal glances into the kitchen at the far end of the dining room. Guillaume Roget magnifies the best of the Basque region, in particular fish from Saint-Jean-de-Luz fish market opposite. Creativity matched with fine produce and delicate sweet, acidic or vegetable notes embodies the chef’s signature. His flair for deep, intense sauces will knock your socks off, illustrated by a stock of langoustine shells blended with foie gras, or fish stock perfumed with verbena and then reduced with sweet chestnut honey. A banquet of rich, gutsy flavours that nonetheless deftly sidesteps the trap of being overly cloying or starchy. Something of a culinary landmark on the Basque coast." - Michelin Inspector

The MICHELIN Guide France 2022: French gastronomy is back on track !

"In Ciboure, Guillaume Roget, a former sommelier who moved into the kitchen, proposes in Ekaitza – 'storm' in Basque – a dynamic cuisine where, atypically, diners are invited to choose their own food-wine pairings." - Le Guide MICHELIN

Absolutely delicious and creative work by the chef and his team. We did the suggested wine pairings for each plate, and the complimentary notes hit the mark regardless of the varied ingredients. Professional and still warm, the place runs like a well oiled machine. It’s an excellent treat for a romantic date, or if you have a foodie partner who wants to have his mind blown and his standards raised.

Very high quality dinner. Food and service were exceptional. My only suggestion would be to speed up a bit the service. Our first dish arrived at 19:30, the last one at 22:30 for a 7 dishes tasting menu. Still, quality was great and the venue is highly recommend.

My fave meal over a two week trip to Basque Country - amazing value for money for a one Michelin star lunch. Staff are very friendly and kind and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

Just excellent. Ambience could maybe be a bit nicer with some flowers on the table but food and service were so remarkable that one wouldn’t realize.

One of the best meals in a week of excellent ones. We went on a quiet night in February, 2025. The seafood-driven tasting menu was outstanding throughout, and the servers did an excellent job of accommodating our language limitations. I very, very highly recommend Ekaitza.
