The best shrimp tacos you will ever have! Mom and pop establishment. Food is amazing! We go here at least twice a month sometimes more. Addicted to this place.

Google
The best experience is being greeted at the door with a very happy owner. I had birria tacos and my god they were so good 👍 and they even had birria pizza that I'll try for dinner tonight. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent and the birria juice to dip your tacos was the topper.

Google
Best shrimp and fish tacos I have ever eaten anywhere. It's a 20 min drive and I will drive it just to eat those tacos.

Google
This place was an amazing find for my lunch hours. Great food and event greater service. I recommend this place to everyone that asks for a good burrito spot.

Google
It's a hole in the wall, but aren't those always the best places to get amazing tacos? I was referred to this restaurant specifically for the fish tacos and they didn't disappoint. The adobado (similar to an al pastor) was also phenomenal. One other important point to make is that in these times of excessive food prices (really everything prices), you can come here for a reasonably priced, extremely yummy meal. Hard to argue against that!

Google
So I, unfortunately, didn’t even get to the point of trying their food, because the girl who took my to-go order over the phone was so increasingly rude that I had to cancel my order. After hearing a disinterested and short tone while ordering, I asked to pick up in about 90 minutes from the time I called, because I was placing a pretty large order and was driving in from out of town. After a long pause and a drawn-out “ok, I GUESS we can do that”, she asked me what time they should start preparing the order, which I had no idea because I …am not the one preparing the food. She then managed to sound even more annoyed than before. Very disappointed because the reviews said they had good food.

Google
Love love love!! I've been coming here even before the owner had a restaurant. Way back in the day when it was a dirt lot and just a good taco truck. It was ALWAYS packed and still is! We have been coming for more than 10 years. We travel down here as much as possible because it's worth the drive. Great food! Great prices! Great service!

Google
Amazing tacos and the burritos although not the main attraction are amazing. I would say that it has the best Hispanic food in the area by far. Their salsas are some of the best I've ever had

Yelp
Amazing Mexican food I had hands down in years! The enchiladas were so flavorful. Pricing was great! Will be back again!!

Yelp
My low review isn't due to the food. As for the food,I can only speak to the asada tacos which were street size and very tasty. Meat was lean and flavorful, with ample cilantro and onions. No salsa bar but they provided a bottle of their salsa verde which was good and had a nice little punch. Only downside of the food was the tortilla seemed barely warmed , if that. It was definitely a mom-and-pop place which I enjoy the best. So why low stars? I really didn't like how the customer who ordered after me was treated. It is tiny inside so you cannot help but hear what others order. I distinctly heard the customer ask for no beans on his burrito, and for the tortilla on his taco to be extra crispy. After he took a few bites, he took his food back to the owner because it had included beans. Instead of doing the right thing, the owner argued with him saying he had given him what he wanted, which wasn't true. The customer explained again that he had asked for no beans. and also mdntioned that his taco wasn't hot. The owner again argued with him, said his taco couldn't be cold and even said that beans wouldn't kill him (what if that customer had a food allergy or sensitivity?). The customer left in frustration, throwing his food away. To make matters worse, the owner then complained about him to the other customers. Not cool. So while the tacos were tasty, I am not motivated to return if that is how the owner treats people when there are so many other taco places to choose from. Prices were reasonable. A small hole-in-the-wall restaurant near Denio's, it has 4 small tables inside plua tables on their front outdoor covered patio. There is a parking lot behind that fits about 5 cars or there's some street parking availallble.

Yelp
El Abajeño has the absolute best tacos around! Highly recommend-we haven't found anyone that tops this.

Yelp
I normally never do reviews but once in a while I find the most amazing hidden spot like this and I have to speak up. This is the best Mexican food I've had in my whole life! The service is unbeatable as well the owner is one amazing human being! The vibes are immaculate and always top tier! I eat here 5-6 days a week and will never stop!!

Yelp
Great fish tacos, will try the shrimp tacos next. Not fancy but super friendly staff, clean, good prices and great food. We are regulars.

Norma G.

Yelp
BEST birria tacos ever. Been coming here since they were a small taco truck. That lady carol in the reviews doesn't know what she's talking about but they are bomb.

Yelp
Best Birria tacos, really good food and atmosphere, definitely will recommend this place

Yelp
This place is so good. Birria is delicious. Tracks are great and location is awesome. Perfect way to end my day at Denios. The seating is nice if you get a table outside, which there's only about 4. Inside is one table or so. I wish the place had more seating area, but it is what it is. The food is great!

Jami B.

Yelp
Food was delicious and the customer service was outstanding! Very friendly, professional and courteous! Will definitely be back! They've earned my business! Thank you!
google avatar

Yelp
Stop by and got an assortment of tacos. Previous reviews were right on the Birria is very good. The shrimp taco was 2nd. Least favorite was the fish. We also got a burrito. They make them short and fat here. It was a little awkward to eat. Once I bit in to it ... it couldn't be held. I balanced the styrofoam container on my chest and stood the burrito up on it. Then it was manageable and good. The large slices of fresh avocado really made it for me.

Yelp
Legit mexican tacos. It was muy delicioso!!! The service was very fast too and the price is cheaper than your usual mexican restaurants.

Yelp
You don't have to wait for the weekend to enjoy deliicous tacos near Denio's Farmer's Market in Roseville, as El Abajeño Tacos is open six days a week - closed Monday - and serves amazing tacos, at a very reasonable price. When it comes to placing your order, El Abajeño Tacos takes a very different approach than most Mexican restaurants. You make your selection from the menu, posted above the kitchen, and turn around to a gentleman who is setting near the soft drink cooler, who you pay, and in return, he'll give you a number. He also answers the phone, as the restaurant does a brisk take-out business. The indoor dining room is super tiny, so most diners prefer to enjoy their meals outside, on the comfortable, covered patio in front of the entrance. You can enjoy your tacos and watch the activity of Atkinson Street, which can be quite lively on weekends. I went with "Tacos de Birria," I absolutely LOVE birria, so I ordered three of them; I probably cold eat six! At $1.85 each, I can afford to order more than one taco! The tacos start with a single toasted, regular size corn tortilla. Your taco is topped with the meat of your choosing - my choice was birria, which is stewed goat meat - along with diced white onion and fresh cilantro. The tacos are very basic, but they're amazingly delicious! Each taco comes with a small slice of fresh lime, just like in Mexico, so you can squeeze fresh lime juice on your taco to enhance the flavor. Muy sabroso! Birria has a reputation of being spicy, and it really isn't, as it's just plain flavorful. Like other Mexican restaurants, El Abajeño Tacos makes birria in a large pot, which results in a juicy, tender, flavorful cut of goat meat. In Mexico, birria is served as a stew, a main dish entree, or as a topping for tacos, such as I enjoyed today. The birria I enjoyed on my tacos was flavorful, not at all spicy, juicy, and delicious. If you love birria, you'll love these tacos! The tacos are delicious, the outdoor dining is comfortable, the staff is friendly, and the price is right. When you're in the mood for delicious tacos, pay a visit to El Abajeño Tacos, located on Atkinson Street, in Roseville.

Yelp
Best birria tacos ever ! Beef flautas are yummy too. This is my new Saturday Brunch Spot. Drinks are simple they have Jarritos & Sodas. Tacos are priced around $2.35 It is a great spot that is always packed stop in you won't be disappointed!

Cynthia D.

Yelp
Very amazing food definitely recommend when you're in the Roseville area service could be better honestly but that doesn't really bother me as long as the food is great! Ambiance
google avatar

Lesly J.

Yelp
We come from Reno to have the birria and it never disappoints, It's always very delicious. However, the ladies in the register and kitchen seem to be in a bad mood. Especially the girls in the register they are just very mulas to us but anyways the food is good.

Yelp
This place is 100% authentic and legit. Everything tastes so good. I can't wait for my next meal, it can't come soon enough! Salsa is amazing too

Yelp
Best, truly authentic Mexican food I've ever had. No place has ever compared. I moved away but always make sure to make AT LEAST one trip here while I'm visiting family.

Yelp
Best small taco shop in Roseville. $1.70 large street tacos. Birria and fish tacos a must. Only place is know that specialized in birria. They have asada cabeza and abodaba too but it's not as good as the birria and seafood. Always crowded on the weekends because of Denios. Great salsa green one is best red one is smoky but hotttt. Can't beat the price and service.

Mayra S.

Yelp
I know this place for a long long time and is one of my favor restaurant. I love the tacos

RJ A.

Yelp
I don't want tot give it away, but i have to! Fantastic crispy tacos. Flautas, second to none!

Julia T.

Yelp
Ordered a couple of each tacos. Was disappointed at the meat how dry or oily it is[depending on the meat]. We all have different taste buds which is understandable. But this was a NO for me. My husband called the owner to inform him the asada was very dry not even putting lime nor salsa helped. The tomatoes on the fish taco were not fresh from today. To have him him rudely say don't ever eat here again. I have the best tacos and serve quality. If that's quality I have never had any "quality tacos" before then.

Taylor S.

Yelp
Very rude lady up front right when I walked in she was rude! Definitely don't go there and the food taste like shit not authentic at all
google avatar

Yelp
Little corner spot taqueria across the street from a Jimboy's tacos. After going to Denio's I noticed this place and thought I'd give it a try..this spot is family owned and its a husband&wife who run it. They were extremely friendly and the food isnt like the greatest thing ever or to die for but I do appreciate it is good & reminds me of a "home cooked" mexican meal. I had gotten up to pay for another drink & the lady told me to just keep eating and she would charge me until I was done eating so I wouldnt have to touch the cash with my hands. I definitely recommend this little place for good mexican food+ excellent customer service.

Yelp
so good food! very delicious and flavorful! great owner very welcoming. i very recommend.

Miranda R.

Yelp
This is a mom and pop shop with really great food. Limited seating but I am always busy and take it to go anyways. I'd recommend taking it to go and eating in your car. It is a really small hole in the wall place but the closest authentic Mexican food within a 15 mile radius from me. The sweet customer service from the owners beats what they lack as far as limited spacing. I love supporting local shops and will continue to do so. Thank you for always satisfying my cravings!

Ayah S.

Yelp
Doesn't look like a good spot from the outside but the tacos are definitely good. We ordered the steak( carne asada) tacos and it was a bit dry & the pork marinated tacos were absolutely delicious. The salsa is my favorite. The only thing I didn't like about it was the older lady taking my order at the register was rude. Since it was my first time, and new in town I didn't know the menu well.. that's why I'm giving this place 3 stars because of the rude service I received for it being my first time there ..
google avatar

Marie N.

Yelp
AWESOME little spot for tacos. This place is small but packs a big punch with the flavors. Their marinated meats are so tender and flavorful and delicious, WOW! My bf and I passed over Jimboys (yeah we like grease but not today) and came here after hitting up Denio's for a few hours. We were famished (okay I was) after finding new nominations for www.peopleofdenios.com. What a great place! Friendly people, FAST service, and hot tasty tacos. Also they keep bottled coca cola which makes my bf seriously happy. I tried birria (goat) for the first time and it was really good (it had a spice that made me think of cinnamon almost but it wasn't that... and the guy when asked sheepishly said, "Can't tell you, it's a secret!") The fish and shrimp tacos were incredibly fresh and light even with the mayo sauce. Right amount of crispy peppery batter too, yum! They had random sized jars of chile sauce out on the tables and I LOVE homemade salsa in hole-in-the-wall places. The combo of smoky and spicy, gah! So yeah... go to the auction and have 3 funfilled hours looking at other people's crap. Then go get tacos here when you want some really good food.
google avatar

Summer E.

Yelp
It's really delicious! I suggest the Birria,($6.49) it was tasty.. Juicy and rich in flavor. Tacos are great and only $1.35. What have you got to lose? You park, go in, order, pay, sit down, they give you the food. Bottled drinks are available. They're right by Denio's.

Yelp
This is the kind of Mexican food I've been looking for! The rice reminds me of my moms (RIP) and the beans are just like my grandmas (RIP) I miss them both so much. So eating here gives me comfort. My favorite dish is the green chili chicken enchiladas the chicken is so flavorful and moist. I do not live in town so any chance I get I make a trip here with the family. It is very small establishment so seating is very limited. I believe it's cash only. Highly recommend
google avatar

Lily D.

Yelp
I live a few blocks from here and never thought about coming here until I saw it on yelp. It is a very small place with limited parking and only 5 or 6 tables for seating so probably best to take to go. I love street tacos and ordered the asada taco and chicken enchilada with rice and beans. The taco was a little disapointing. While the shell was bigger than a normal street taco, it was not grilled at all like it was just pulled out of the package so the shell is cold, not infused with the tastiness of the meat. However the enchilada was good with lots of melted cheese. Rice and beans were good and plentiful. I would probably give it a 3.50 but no half star option to give. Its good enough to go back again but not enough for me to crave it. La Rosa in West Sac remains my favorite.
google avatar

Taylor C.

Yelp
I have been going to this restaurant since I was 6 years old and nothing comes close to their asada tacos or burritos!! They are the friendliest small business I've ever been to and I know I will always be satisfied when I eat here. Affordable prices and great food! Most authentic Mexican food you can get in Roseville.
google avatar

Gregg D.

Yelp
Wonderful food and wonderful service. Really enjoyed having lunch there with my wife. Hope you come back again.
google avatar

Ann M.

Yelp
We had the crispy chicken and beef tacos. There was a sauce with lettuce on top- pure delicious! Very reasonably priced.
google avatar

Santiago M.

Yelp
I do not understand how this place has 4 stars let alone 3. Food is horrible, service sucks and seating is definitely not worth it. I really feel that the only reason people come here is because it's what's closest to denios after walking you get hungry. We had to wait near the trash cans, then sit and eat next to it, on the other side is the bathroom. It is disgusting in there. Didn't even eat my food I was so grossed out. I will never eat here again.

Gabriella L.

Yelp
Best authentic Mexican food in Roseville! Loved that it is a small family ran place. Would 100% recommend

Amanda B.

Yelp
Birria is the thing to order here. Just look around and you will see it on every crowded table. It will keep you craving.
google avatar

Meche M.

Yelp
Awesome food!! I've been coming to this place for well over 10 years! Authentic Mexican food.

Yelp
All I know is that if you are at Denio's Auction and you do not stop in here for lunch before or after.....you are crazy. Do not make the mistake of getting a corn dog inside the auction area. You are missing out on the best fish tacos I have had in a LONG time. Being in the Sacramento area since 1984, I have had my fair share of Mexican food. We are blessed with a great assortment here. This place is fantastic. Competition is from Jimboy's almost directly across the street. Very different types of food. Don't get me wrong, I love Jimboy's but it tastes nothing like El Abajeno. This place is authentic and good. If you don't end up loving this place, you can come to my house and punch me in the mouth. This is a Vineyard/West Roseville GEM.
google avatar

Fastfood Master G.

Yelp
So I tried this place again and it's not for me. Fish taco- 3.5 stars and the first time it was right up there with the best I've had but this time I would say there just OK. Adobada taco- 3 stars and the spice was not to my liking, but it's different everywhere so this maybe a personal preference. Steak taco- 2.8 stars and nobody comments on the steak so I'm thinking my first time wasn't just an off day. Steak super burrito- 3 stars and had the same meat but certain bites with some of the other stuff tasting good made this an ok burrito.
google avatar

Luis M.

Yelp
The most authentic food ive tasted anywhere. Feels like im in mexico again ! A must have
google avatar

Meghan E.

Yelp
YOU CAN'T BEAT THEIR MEAT! El Abajeno encompasses everything a quality family business should: simple fresh ingredients, well seasoned meats, fair prices. My old man and I drag the family out near the train yard just to eat here because it is that good. If you come on the weekend the place is packed because everyone knows they kick ass!

Marisa H.

Yelp
This is The BEST little Mexican food spot in Roseville! He's been here for YEARS!! Sweetest man ever and definitely puts love in all his food with his wife

Tim B.

Yelp
Food is so-so, didn't seem like it was cooked fresh, if your Mexican, you get your order ahead of any gringos
google avatar

Vince L.

Yelp
Good Stuff, I tried the asada, birria and adobada tacos. They were all good and very inexpensive. The place is very small but clean. Salsa was homemade but not the tortillas. The salsa was very flavorful but not so hot that you couldn't taste it.
google avatar

Jason A.

Yelp
Our family thoroughly enjoyed the food and family atmosphere at El Abajeño. The facility parking lot is behind the building (which can be tricky because the rear of restaurants can be nasty) but it's kept up surprisingly well. There service was great! It seemed like a mom and pop shop with an "older" couple behind the counter doing it all. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. We ordered burritos (carne asana), tacos (shrimp), and the cheese quesadilla. The reason for the 4 star is that it was missing the crave factor. The burrito was good but not amazing.
google avatar

Sam ..

Yelp
I love the soft tortilla tacos. Friendly service and always quick. It gets VERY packed on Saturday and Sunday and its so hard to get a seat and parking.
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
Went back, tried the adobada tacos. Absolutely delicious, so bumping the score.
