The 12 Best Coffee Shops in Bogotá, Colombia | Eater

"Admittedly, the big draw here is the feeling of being in a garden, even when you’re inside: Wrought-iron furniture, a forest of trees, ferns dangling from the ceiling, an abundance of antiques, and terra-cotta floors all contribute to the charm. Opened in 1993, El Altillo del Sol serves Segafredo, an Italian brand. Stick with the cappuccino; you can try it with whipped cream and arequipe — what Colombians call dulce de leche. Or order the carajillo, a drink Colombia inherited from Spain, where coffee gets a dash of liquor — in this case, rum or aguardiente (an anise-flavored liqueur). Besides the drinks, there’s a selection of empanadas, alfajores (arequipe-filled cookies), or milhojas (a napoleon with arequipe) — all nods to the owners’ Argentinian roots." - Karen Attman

The place is beautiful and the staff is friendly, but the coffee is pretty bad. First, the capuccino is not properly done ( look at the photos and see yourself), and the americano had a terrible taste (presumably they use a cheap quality coffee).

Lot of reasons to love this place - Visited this place with my wife and I had a great experience. What I liked the most about this place is that they have a lot of traditional snacks from Colombia and Argentina. I absolutely loved their empanadas. Those were delicious!! The coffee they serve is Lavazza, which isn't my favourite. Considering this is Colombia they could introduce a good colombian coffee. My only grouch is about the service. The service is pretty good, but that there are only two people to wait the tables and we noticed that the staff were really up to their neck waiting the dozen or so tables with about 50 guests. The staff really do a good job. A word for the management, probably better to put a third service person at least during the weekends and busy times. I would totally go back to this place again.

What a beautiful place to start Morning with healthy breakfast and also to spend some quality evening time with a beer.

This spot is adorable and has it all. Came here twice for breakfast and once for drinks on a Friday night. The passion fruit mojito was one of the best I’ve had!

It's an old style café in an upscale neighborhood. The service is welcoming but slow and bit very attentive. The coffee is mid. They have no wifi and are proud of it.

Excellent personal service and a wonderful place to be. Fantastic atmosphere. If you want authentic old style Colomboan fare this is the place.

A little cozy Italian-esque place in Usaquén. Empanadas are a must. Doggie friendly, which is always a plus. Great place!
