I don't write reviews unless is very good or disappointing. This one is the latter. I read several recent reviews before I write my review; pretty much a consensus: OK food taste and portion wise, but price is unreasonably high, or higher than other Mexican restaurants nearby,
We don't live near this location, therefore we don't come here often. But we did several years ago and we recalled the food was good. So, one day last week we drove by, made a U-turn and decided to have lunch there. Nothing extravagant; 3 tacos ($4.25 each), one plate lunch ($19.99?) and a soft drink ($?). Tax and tip came to about $47, I was told (wife paid - she must have tipped good, I thought but I didn't check).
Usually when I fold up the tacos, some filling falls out. Not these tacos. Fillings stayed in until the last bite. Nice and neat, on one hand, but it also tells the piling wasn't much. Taste was so so; I had better. Plate lunch tasted good, and portion was fine, according to my wife.
My surprise was the price. When I checked my credit card transaction online couple days later. The charge showed up as $55.50. Hmm, that is $8.50 over the $47 I remembered being told. I asked my wife to look into it. She was told there was a 4% service charge (not a surprise nowadays) because a credit card was used to pay for the meal. Wife was not (verbally) informed of that by the cashier (probably a note tapped to the cash register, easily overlooked). Then there is still an $2 overcharged. I told my wife to forget the $2.
Wow, $55.50 a simple Mexican lunch for two?!
Fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me!
(By the way, for $50-60 I could cook filet mignon dinner for four with a side.)
