El Bagelero

This place has pushed its way to the top of my favorite local breakfast spots! We really needed a good bagel place, and El Bagelero is it. 🔥 The bagel sandwiches are great! But the real best menu item is the breakfast burrito—perfect for splitting between two people (because it's wrapped in two halves!). Everybody is really friendly, and the food comes fast. Great ambience too!

Picked up Bagelero this morning. Staff was very friendly and I was impressed with the bagels! Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Cream cheese was also delish! We got the lox bagel sandwich on a Rosemary bagel with Chive cc, a cheddar jalepeño bagel with veggie cc, some bagels to go and churro and horchata espresso donuts! Everything was super tasty. A great addition to the neighborhood! We will definitely be back! 😋

Stumbled upon this place looking for breakfast and my friends and I are so glad we did. We’ve been looking for good food in Chicago and this satisfied our craving!! The carnitas breakfast bagel was my favorite in particular since the carnitas were so flavorful and crunchy yet tender. The chorizo bagel was also super yummy! Definitely will be coming back!

I’m grateful to have a nice bagel option in the Bucktown hood! I got the lox/classic bagel and it was just want you would want. Portion was right and bagel was the right level of chewy.

I was blown away by the quality of the bagels! I'm picky about my bagels and these were in all honesty better than the ones I've had in New York. Baked fresh with a crispy exterior and soft interior. Was sad to see little Lazos go, but overall I think this is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood. Bucktowns been desperate for a bagel shop!

We are so excited to have a new yummy sandwich shop in the neighborhood! Friendly staff and delicious sandwiches! I tried the steak and egg on an Asiago bagel with chipotle mayo and my husband got the El Machismo on a jalapeño cheddar bagel and both were excellent! We can’t wait to go back and try more!

We live so close by and were really hoping for this place to be a hit. The owner/manager is incredibly helpful and friendly but sadly the food is just disappointing. We ordered two breakfast bagel sandwiches, bacon/egg/cheese and sausage/egg/cheese. The cheese seemed to be missing or barely there and the meat portions were laughable if not insulting for $9 a bagel sandwich - one small piece of bacon and one quarter sized sausage piece on the other sandwich.

Kinda disappointed. Ordered the BEC. No sign of cheese (maybe folded into the eggs but couldn't taste it.) One single piece of bacon, half of which was all fat and not edible. The bagel was good and the people were friendly. Hoping to try this place again but please add a slice of American and at least 2 pieces of (cooked) bacon for a $12 breakfast sandwich.

I was finally able to stop in before they close and tried: - Chocolate Donut - El Machismo The donut was pretty good, but the El Machismo was standout. I had it on the regular bagel and it came with chorizo, egg, jalapeños, and a mayo based sauce. I would definitely get it again. The staff was also super friendly, so wanted to shout that out.

In 2025 there is an article that came up that said this was "the year of the bagel" for Chicago. After many decades of mediocre bagel options in the city, this year, we've seen a true explosion of quality bagels, and delicious options at these locations. I've gotta say this is one of the best I've had so far in the Midwest. I got the bacon, egg and cheese, and El Machismo, which were both incredibly good. The actual restaurant itself clearly has a vibe of to-go, but does have some tables if you want to sit down. Everyone was incredibly nice. But I love most about the bagel is their ability to have a nice slightly crunchy outside with soft and just chewing enough inside. I cannot wait to return.

This has been on my list to stop by for a while - so glad I did! Very friendly service immediately upon walking through the door. Ordered an everything bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese. The sandwich was ready in no time! I took it to go, and the bagel was still hot when I got a chance to eat! My new favorite bagel shop in Chicago, perfect size, tasty sausage, fresh eggs, and the chipotle mayo really added a nice kick. Looking forward to trying more of the sandwiches or tacos!

So far I have had a bacon egg and cheese, and a everything bagel with cream cheese and the bagels are very good. The everything bagel comes with a lot of seeds but I'd like them to add more garlic to the mix. My boyfriend tried the breakfast burrito which was huge and delicious. So excited to have a local bagel spot now!

I was in the area, walking around, desperate for a bagel. Lo and behold, I turn the corner and I see this establishment. "Wonderful", I think to myself "exactly what I wanted". Well, usually I'm met with disappointment in these situations but I walked in happy and left even happier. Asiago bagel was soft, toasty and delicious. Latte was soft, toasty, and delicious. Service is incredible, really cool atmosphere too. Keep it up!!

We came in and ordered a bacon egg and cheese and the classic (bagel lox). Both were amazing. The staff working there are also very nice and friendly. Service was great, we messed up our order but they still fixed it for us even though it was our fault. Forgot to take pictures sadly :(( next time I'll remember

Cute new place for a quick bite. The bagels are tasty, the donuts are fresh and the breakfast burrito was GREAT. Salsa for the burrito was also yummy. Portions are good for the price and will definitely be adding this into the breakfast rotation.

Best breakfast sando I've had in YEARS! I got a bacon, egg, and cheese on sesame and my husband got "the classic" on rosemary -- 10/10 cannot recommend more!!

Have had a bunch of different bagel shops throughout the city. El Bagelero by far has the best breakfast sandwich that I have had. Everything is fresh. Highly recommend. Will be back frequently.

Went to the soft open today. Rosemary bagels were great as were the tacos. The bagel sandwiches were good but just a standard bagel sandwich. Waiting for the donas to start being served!

Great find near the Western Blue Line stop. Big variety of bagels. I had the Cuban, was delicious and filling. Friend had the breakfast burrito, divided into two tortillas for easy eating. Friendly staff too!

They have great coffee and the breakfast burrito is delicious. Service is quick too.

the breakfast burrito was so delicious and there's two when you order it, so i was able to save one for later which when reheated was still amazing. service was also great we were served very quickly. will definitely come here again!
