Where to Drink Margs and Do Good Around NYC | Eater

"With 400 tequila and mezcal labels on its menu, you can bet the experts at this Pier 57 bar know how to make a spirit sing. Their take on Astral—is the Scarlet Margarita, featuring Astral Blanco, hibiscus, orange, cinnamon, lime, and spicy tincture. Sip one overlooking picturesque Little Island and the Hudson River." - Rebecca Strassberg

Went on a Saturday afternoon. Nice chill vibe. Drinks were good. Service was good. There was a bar and a few tables to sit.

Amazing drinks. Nice view. Highly recommend this place! I wish they had oysters though.

Great selection of tequila and mezcal, I appreciate the option for 1oz pours so you can try bunch of options. Very well made cocktails and killer view. Good luck at Pier 57!!!

I'm in New York for work. My friend told me about going to Pier 57. I thought I would try this bar because the drinks look really tasty on the menu. I sat at the bar and the waitress yJanet came over to me and gave me a menu but her attitude made me feel like I wasn't supposed to be there or something. She finally took my order Mexican candy margarita. I wanted to order another one but after she gave me my drink she never came back. She was at the other end of the bar with another woman wine tasting. I waited for her to bring my bill and that never happened. I got tired of waiting and I had to go down to the end of the bar and request my bill. This is the worst customer service I have ever had. I'm from Las Vegas and it's a tourist town just like New York and I can't believe I received this kind of service in a tourist town. The location of the bar is beautiful. The views are breathtaking. I will definitely come back to Pier 57 but I won't be coming back here

Amazing selection of tequila and mezcal. Very good cocktails and selection of tequila flights. Great views of the Hudson River.

I have no idea why there's so many signs posted in the pier to go to El Bar, it was the worst. I went there and sat a spot in the middle of the bar where someone was probably just sitting- the check was there, and it was obvious they had been gone a while. The bar area was dirty though. The one bartender that was there was on their phone when I arrived and hardly paid any attention to us. When he got off his phone, he went to the other side of the bar. There was another person behind the bar, but at the very end, on their phone and drinking a coke maybe. At some point he walked up to us, but just to grab a straw from the bar, and proceeded to go back to what he was doing. He didn't look like staff, but he was behind the bar. The bar was hardly busy enough for that type of service. Didn't buy anything. Didn't want to.

Google
Great spot for tequila cocktails or tasting flights! Nice view of the Hudson. The bar is very clean and well stocked. Everyone working there is friendly. There’s not really any food, only nuts and chips I think, but there’s a food hall within the same space that you can grab something at. They seem to let you eat it in the bar area too which is great.

Google
Firstly this is such a cute place, I visited this tequila bar, and it definitely has potential! The vibes were on point—cool ambiance, great selection of tequilas, and the drinks so cute so yum!. I can totally see myself coming back. That said, the staff wasn’t exactly present. I found myself waiting a bit too long to be acknowledged, and when I was, it didn’t feel as personable as I’d hoped. Hopefully, they can work on that next time. Still, I’d definitely come back for the tequila and chill vibes! Drinks are not cheap FYI I hope there's a happy hr soon to come.

Yelp
A hidden gem! When you're walking to this bar, you'll be tempted to pop into the other bars you pass on the pier. Stay strong! You'll be rewarded with an adorable, tiny bar away from the crowds with an excellent view. I sat here with some girlfriends on the weekend and had an excellent time. We loved the sangria! The perfect light drink.

Yelp
Not sure how long this place has been open or if I hit them on a bad day, but this could have been better. Located at the very back of Pier 57 on the first floor. There are floor to ceiling windows with gorgeous view of the World Trade Center, the river, the Statue of Liberty. It's a beautiful space! The service on the other hand was not so great. I've never waited so long to get a drink at a bar that wasn't busy. The bartenders were looking down, not making eye contact, like they're avoiding taking orders. They were moving slowly with little urgency. Seem like everyone's attention is somewhere else. I tried to order an espresso martini and they told me they had just ran out of espresso, so I ordered a skinny margarita, which was really sweet. Odd for a skinny one!? Later I saw they'd made more espresso so finally ordered espresso martini, which also was really sweet. I saw people doing flights of tequila, maybe that's the best option here. If you're looking for cocktails, I wouldn't come here.

Yelp
I grabbed a drink here before we went to the little island, it's a tequila bar so i was limited. It felt slow and Ben thought I was with one couple...

Yelp
Their drinks are amazing and you cannot beat that view. I absolutely have to stop here every time I am in New York.

Yelp
Being in the international hospitality industry for 35 years, we have never been so appalled by the behavior one of your bartenders: 1) Rude, when questioned about the Tequilas 2) Opened the capsule of a new Tequila bottle with his teeth! One of the most unhygienic things we have ever seen at a bar! 3) Behind the bar, drank 4 leftover shots left by patrons. This display of unprofessional behavior occurred Saturday, August 30, 2025, check your camera footage. For the sake of El Bar's reputation, this young African-American man must be immediately removed.

Yelp
This bar is SO stunning! I'm at Pier 57 pretty regularly so I've been watching it slowly get built out over the past months and could not WAIT for it to open. It has the most amazing view of Little Island and downtown Manhattan. It's all the way at the very end of Pier 57 so it's sort of tucked away from the hustle & bustle of the food court. It is truly a little oasis. You immediately feel at peace there. They have over 400 varieties of tequila and mezcal. The drinks we ordered were beautiful and delicious. We got the Spicy Mezcal Paloma and the Mexican Candy Margarite. The manager Kimber was so warm and welcoming, and shared how the hope is for El Bar to be a place of respite and refuge for people, which I really feel when I'm there. In times like these, we so need spaces like these and I highly recommend you checking it out!

Yelp
Jen was incredibly kind and knowledgeable about tequila. She helped us understand many different types and processes of tequila and curated special selections for our tastes. We had a wonderful time!

Yelp
Sat at the bar for 15 minutes without any service whatsoever. The couple next to us left after the bartender refused to acknowledge them. And then he refused to acknowledge us. I tried to flag him down--he smiled, nodded, and then... turned back to the other customers.

Yelp
Mexican Candy cocktail + a not-to-be missed panoramic view. This place is sexy. Vale la pena!

Omari K.

Yelp
Every bartender looked directly at me and didn't acknowledge me as a customer. I'll never return and will also share my experience with other networks.

Yelp
ive never had a more balanced, more flavorful, and curated cocktail in all of my time in New York cocktail bars. Kimber is a genius mixologist. highly recommend the scarlet margarita and the salsita cocktail but you won't go wrong with any of the cocktails on the list. will definitely be back!!
