El Barracuda Review - Careyeros - Puerto Vallarta - The Infatuation

"A meal at El Barracuda is a whole-day lunch expedition. This spot sits on an open terrace above the Careyeros beach just outside of the Bay of Banderas, and it feels like a cross between a restaurant and a beach club. When you get there, order some aguas frescas or a cold beer before taking a quick pre-lunch dip in the ocean—this is something you very much can and should do at Barracuda. When you come back from floating in the ocean, get some shrimp al pastor tacos, Peruvian-style ceviche, and oysters to round out your lunch. After you feel like you’ve eaten the whole cast of The Little Mermaid, get yourself a shaken carajillo, which combines a shot of espresso with Licor 43, and some flan for dessert. Just know they’re cash only." - Debora Mestre

We stopped here randomly for a quick snack, and ended up having some of the best fish tacos in a long, long time. Will definitely be back to try more stuff.

Barracuda was the first place I went to after arrival since I was staying nearby. It was rainy and right before sunset so people weren’t leaving their cozy tables. Luckily for me the hostess took me to a bar area after waiting a little while and it was actually better than the restaurant tables for a solo traveller. Had the baja fish tacos overlooking the beach as the Sun peeked out before setting. Tacos were great and the sauces and salsas were terrific. Drank an El Barracuda mixed drink. It was frozen and refreshing but definitely not a sweet drink like a margarita. Service was good, too. Felt local in the bar side area. Overall a great welcome-to-Puerto Vallarta dinner.

This was a difficult one to review. While my meal was amazing, my mom’s was probably the worst she’s had in PV. The restaurant was an easy short walk from our hotel, which was nice. Pleasantly located right up on the beach, so we got a good view. Started with two margaritas. Nothing special. I ordered the steak and shrimp, medium rare. She ordered the ribs and steak, medium. My steak was very flavorful and cooked well. The shrimp was pretty basic, but still delicious. I enjoyed what the server called a chimichurri sauce, though in accustomed to chimichurri bring a green sauce. Either way, it was still delish. The fries were incredibly disappointing- they tasted worse than McDonald’s fries, as they weren’t even salted. This is an unfortunate aspect of the meal as it’s incredibly easy to elevate the fries, even if they don’t want to make fresh fries. My moms steak was inedible. It was extremely tough and difficult to chew. She couldn’t cut through it so she eventually tried to bit it like a caveman. Still couldn’t be done. She had the same cut as me. The ribs has a good sauce on them, but they were very tough and difficult to eat. Her fries were the same. The service was just ok. Felt like our server would quickly rush off b when something was dropped off, so we had to very quickly ask frying a before they sprinted away. I probably wouldn’t come back here

Seafood was excellent. Barracuda Ceviche was excellent. Grilled octopus was excellent. Great views of sunset and whale watching. Can get busy, so go early.

This is easily one of the best restaurants in front of the beach in Puerto Vallarta! The food was delicious, and the view was stunning, but what really made the experience exceptional was the customer service. The hostess, a young Argentinian lady (I regret forgetting her name), and our waiter went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Their hospitality was top-notch, making the meal even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for great food, amazing service, and a beautiful oceanfront setting, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

The food, service, and atmosphere were so awesome. We absolutely loved it. As a matter of fact we loved it so much we went three times while we were there. Make sure to get the chips and salsa, the El Solar Shrimp, the steak tacos. It's all soooo good

So far one of the best places I've been to in PV. Great food. Amazing staff. Right on the beach. We were used to small portions from other places so we ordered from and this place was more than we could handle. 100% recommend. Would go to again. Tacos were great and the poke was on point. You could tastes the alcohol in the drinks. Just a great place. Friendly staff, just a great vibe.

The food here was amazing! My Baja tacos were so delicious. The restaurant is right on the beach, and the sunset views were beautiful. The vibe was great, and all the waiters were super friendly. I’m definitely coming back!

Yelp
El Barracuda is the GOAT taco restaurant!!! I'm talking the BEST tacos and taco eating experience... PERIOD!!! Every time I come to Puerto Vallarta I make it a necessity to eat here at LEAST three times!! Oh how I DREAM of this place and their shrimp tacos...!!!! El Barracuda is located in the "Los Hoteles" area of Downtown Puerto Vallarta. It is specifically situated off Paraguay and Nicaragua, behind the Oxo that is located on Francisco Medina Ascencio. This restaurant is casual, but extremely welcoming and offers some stunning views of the Bay of Banderas. You have the option to sit on their patio or sit below on the beach! The views are absolutely incredible and the vibe is nothing short of pure relaxation! And staff are also always fantastic. Once seating I always ask for a Pacifico beer. There's nothing like a Pacifico with some lime on a warm day overlooking the water. Servers then bring over chips and a few types of "salsas." One is a typical "salsa roja" or red salsa, another is a spicier, habanero salsa, and third is a chopped onion salsa. The habanero salsa is my favorite but all are fantastic! Spicy and flavorful! And their chips are absolutely phenomenal as well! Barracuda has a ton of menu options, but they are best known for their tacos (especially their shrimp tacos). I usually order their shrimp tacos "Toreado" style, meaning coming with chopped serrano peppers, cilantro, and cheese. I also recommend their shrimp tacos "Al Pastor" style, but personally like them "Toreado" a hair more. When my tacos arrive I always squeeze lime juice and pour habanero salsa on them, then get to work (aka DEVOUR)! These are the BEST tacos!!! So fresh and flavorful with HUGE pieces of shrimp!!! Like nothing else! I savor every bite each time I come here! And am always sad when my meal is over! Just be aware that El Barracuda is CASH ONLY. So bring pesos! This place is incredibly reasonably priced and you will get your food quickly. Meaning this is more of a lunch spot than a dinner place (in my opinion). It also doesn't get terribly busy at lunch whereas at dinner you might not get the seating spot you want (they don't do reservations). In a nutshell, if you're in Puerto Vallarta and are looking for the BEST tacos in the game, look no further than El Barracuda. Just go!!!

Yelp
Feb 2024 Update - Enjoyed another great meal at El Barracuda during my most recent trip to Puerto Vallarta. Food is always good where on this occasion I had the Steak and Shrimp combo. The steak was a tad tougher than I like but the flavor/taste was OMG sooo good and was cooked to perfection. The shrimp was exceptional as well where you have a choice of style where I chose coconut shrimp that came with multiple dipping sauces that took the flavor profile to the next level. My only gripe about this place is their liquor prices which are on the high side with the volume of the drink on the smaller size as well (think large whiskey glass). Lastly the view is amazing with a nice ocean breeze blowing through the restaurant adding to the rustic tropical vibe. Overall a great meal/venue where the four stars are a result of the high liquor prices and not the quality of the food. This place would have been perfection for me if they had offered a Happy Hour like most of the businesses do in the area. Still a must visit though if you are in the area.

Yelp
Best margaritas, best service, and best food in Puerto Vallarta. We LOVE this place!! VERY reasonable prices and the view is perfect! Sunset drinks, view, people watching and food are what you want in a vacation. The "Seafood Dynamite" is literally to die for!! The tacos are amazing, the Garlic Shrimp, scooped with salted chips is my FAVORITE!! Stiff, delicious drinks. Our favorite place in Mexico.

Yelp
Ehhhh...calibrate for the spot next to the giant resort. The food was fine - nothing to go crazy about. The vibe was loud and chaotic, a lot of very drunk white folks. The service was really great - again, catering to Americans trying to "get off the resort" but not go too far. The cocktails were AMAZING. I got the Jalapeño Mezcalita and would go back just for that before hitting the street for more authenticity.

Megan K.

Yelp
Service and ambiance were worth the wait but the whole snapper was over cooked and nothing was special about the drinks and tacos.
google avatar

May Y.

Yelp
Don't go there my whole group has food poisoning right after eating there. We had the mixto from the molcajete. The tacos tasted fine but the sauce from the mixto tasted funny like it's old. They also only accept cash so they up the USD and cad cash payment. They also took forever to bring things out. So travellers beware. We ate from taco stands and we never had this issue with food poisoning.

Yelp
3.5 stars overall. First FYI: CASH ONLY. Sign in covered patio above, if you look left of host stand. 3 stars for food- nothing threw me out of the park. *ajillo octopus- YES- that was good, not normal flavors I eat. Sliced Octopus was so tender!! Comes with complimentary bread and butter. Bread is good to sop up the flavors. Recommend! * fried fish and fries- was delicious. Fresh mahi mahi with lovely panko coating. * grilled fish taco- mahi mahi topped with a dry cabbage salad. No sauces. Bland and dry DO NOT recommend this one. * tomato, watermelon, goat cheese and roasted pumpkin seeds was refreshing and good, but not amazing. I wouldn't mind eating this again. * barracuda ceviche- it was good, nothing amazing, would eat again. *burger with fries was fine, cooked to preference, medium was perfect. *complimentary chips and salsa. *cocktails- watermelon margarita and sangria- both were good, light, fresh, but light on the alcohol. Ambiance- 5 stars!! So lovely being on the beach with sunset. They have covered patio that is lovely too. Kids finished early and ran to play in the rocky beach, stacking rocks and chasing waves. When I looked around with those eating, it was not all Americans, so it was good to see locals(?). 70% of the beach tables were Hispanic. That was a good sign to me. Their was also a live band playing with was fun to watch, and the restaurant music in the covered patio. Service- we went end of June, my understand is low season. Staff spoke English and were lovely and accommodating. Timing of kitchen was good, didn't have to wait long for meal to arrive. Value- perspective, can be fair or expensive in my books. I love cheap taco joints- so in that sense expensive. Fair for being beach side dinner. Recommend- if you want a lovely ambiance with fair food, willing to pay higher prices in CASH- yes!
google avatar

Chuybe R.

Yelp
Everything was amazing except that they only accept cash and I wasn't prepared for that so the entire time I couldn't enjoy dinner because I was calculating how much I could afford lol but the pineapple mezcalita was the ish
google avatar

Yelp
The food, service and views were amazing! We went there two nights in a row after we FINALLY discovered this hidden jem. Umberto was amazing and we will be back!

Yelp
This is my new favorite place in PV. The price is amazing and the food is incredible. Make sure you bring cash because they do not take cards. Try this place out!!!

Yelp
We came in with our 2 little kids and 2 friends, so we had a large party of 6. The hostess was super nice and told us she had a table inside, but that she would keep an eye out for a table down on the beach to be able to see the sunset snd fire show. Sure enough, within 10 minutes she moved our entire oarty down to the beach. The kids got to play in the sand while we waited for the food. The food was delicious and fresh with great flavors! There was a guy on the beach doing an amazing fire show! Overall this place was fantastic!
google avatar

Pedro V.

Yelp
This spot was the closest sit down restaurant near our hotel. It had great service, tasty dishes, and perfect views. We had a party of 6 with it being super busy they were able to accommodate our group with a table down on the beach. We only waited 10 minutes or less. The Molcajete was the star dish I would recommend. Its steaming from how hot the rock bowl is till when it comes out of the kitchen. You can build your own on what you want in them. I got fish, shrimp, and octopus. Everything was fresh tasting and the sauce in it was flavorful. It comes with tortillas, rice, and a salad on the side. Also tried the tomatlan salad. It was healthy with a good mix of watermelon and tomato's in it. You won't be disappointed with the food at this restaurant. They sat us on the beach with the beautiful ocean view at night and a cool fire-show happening during our dinner. We felt the ocean breeze during our dinner. I recommend this spot for a dinner date or when going with a group. The food has some of the best cuisine in puerto vallarta.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
I was really excited to come here because it was not far from our condo and was right on the beach. There was a bit of a wait for our table but they let our group of six sit at the bar. We ordered tacos of various types and our daughter had a hamburger. Shortly thereafter she became very ill. Cannot say whether it was from the burger or not but it was the only thing she ate all day that we all did not eat that day. The biggest issue was with the payment after the meal. They told use over and over we had to pay with cash. We paid with cash and then the waiter said he wasn't happy with the tip. (It was a pretty substantial tip so this was a bit alarming). We said that was all the cash we had so he then said ok pay with card. Went to pay with card and he was telling us to tip way above what is customary in town. The haggling over tip was not a good experience especially when the service was just ok. We always tip well and to be harassed for more was extremely off putting. With so many great options nearby, I would never go here again.

Yelp
This place was in front of our beach front hotel in Puerto Vallarta. I didn't expect much because the back entrance looks like a bar. But after being sat immediately, we were brought our drinks. Great service! The food was pretty awesome, the drinks were flowing, and the scenery was pretty darn nice. If you are in the area, don't let the construction and ugly streets deter you. Just go here and order; let the food do the talking! Big kudos to this open air beach front restaurant with seating in the sand, and exemplary customer service!
google avatar

K S.

Yelp
Cash only. I really enjoyed the flank steak. Tastes like my mom's fresh off the grill.
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
3.5 stars overall. Came in with high expectations cause of the ratings and forums. Complimentary chips and salsa was good. Nice spice level. Complimentary bread tasted kinda weird, almost like too plain? Soda bread maybe. The mocktails were pretty good though. I appreciate that they had so many options on that front. Molcajete: not the best we've had but good for PVR Steak + shrimp: Really should not be calling this ribeye steak. This is NOT ribeye, this was more like prime rib which are completely different cuts of meat. My bf asked for medium rare. It first came out rare, not even rare, maybe even raw cause it was cold. Asked them to do it again and came out medium well....at least the fries were good but that steak was so not worth it.

Yelp
I'm regular here, weekly when I'm out for a walk. I generally have supported their business just have to say service is on the decline. For the first time I got up and walked out after being seated. I think it's primarily because I arrive shortly after they open, and they're more focused on getting their restaurant setup. But yesterday I heard them tell one customer that they open at noon, when in fact it was 11:00. They didn't want to wait on him. Good luck with that attitude. I'm done and won't be back.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Our group of 13 loved our servers, food and seating. Being attentive to a large group is difficult, but the wait staff kept up. Seating right before sunset was an added bonus for us. The ceviche, octopus and all other orders were delicious. No one left disappointed.
google avatar

Marion W.

Yelp
We went there while on vacation, and really hoped for a table in the sand. We kept asking, and supposedly we were second on the list for it, and should have gotten one after 30 minutes, and unfortunately, we stayed over 2 hours and never did get a table on the sand. For that reason, they only got 4 stars. That being said, the prices are great and the food was very good. I had the barracuda ceviche and my friends got oysters. Then we all got the fish tacos fried and wow those were delicious! Super big and filing, you could probably share
google avatar

Larry L.

Yelp
We have always had great service here and the views are spectacular. We had the shrimp appetizer and a small salad which were both delicious. The Beach Sangria was awesome too!!
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
We came back here three times this trip. The first two we were disappointed since the red snapper was not available and no oysters. My girlfriend has been raving about their red snapper and through sheer persistence we finally got to eat it today! I have eaten 5 red snappers this trip and this one was the best seasoned! The oysters were also available today and wow! They were super fresh and tasted phenomenal. Highly recommend getting the barracuda ceviche so you can have the sauce to put onto your oysters. To recap: Come here for that top tier seasoned red snapper and oysters. The ceivches they offer are amazing too!
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
This place is in a prime location, right on the beach, and has a very beachy vibe to it. I want to start off by saying the service was amazing, so nice, helpful, and attentive, but unfortunately the food did not meet up expectations. Our group also may have ordered the wrong thing so I'll let you know what we ordered. I'll start with the good - fish tacos! I recommend this if eating here and the ceviche. The red snapper was also good, too. Now for the mediocre - the lobster and steak sandwich, it was mostly chopped onions and more like a salad (with mayonnaise) type sandwich versus a meaty sandwich. I ordered the octopus tacos which were okay but I wouldn't order them again. Highlight of the meal - their lemonade! Made with coconut water, it was very refreshing!
google avatar

Jose L.

Yelp
The ambience was great. The staff were attentive and the food was amazing. Also a few steps from the beach itself.

Milo B.

Yelp
Beautiful setting on the beach. Entrees of red snapper and seafood casserole were delicious. Attentive staff
google avatar

Josh T.

Yelp
Good food, tasty drinks and great service. But come on, it's on the water. Tables in the sand. Eat here around sunset. The whole snapper is incredible. Lots of delicious seafood options. If you want a family friendly beach set dinner and don't want to put up with the "scenery" in the romantic zone, El Barracuda is your place. Been to PV twice. Ate here with friends last year and made it a point to come back this year.

Yelp
You can't beat the location of El Barracuda. It is right on the beach and there are even tables on the beach. The tide was coming in rather strongly so they had to move some tables back. A group of women were trying to take a photo and were surprised by a big wave. It was great comedy to watch from our table. The food was great and there are plenty of options for every palate. We started with several appetizers and ceviches. If you are looking for a fun atmosphere and a beautiful location on the beach, try El Barracuda.

Yelp
Everything from the atmosphere to the Waite staff to the food was fun, tropical and good tasting. It was just a really good vacation experience

Yelp
First, let me say this place is near the ocean. It had a nice ambiance, good music, and lackluster service staff. When we arrived, we were greeted and sat at a table with a Leuschen view. Unfortunately, it was raining that day, and no one paid attention to opening up the umbrella or moving the table back from the rain that was blowing in on the Malecon. The waiter seemed charming initially but was slow to respond to all requests, such as drinks and food orders. My first negative experience was that the drinks were not proportionate to the sweetness of the alcohol-flavored margaritas. My second problem was with the food order. My partner's order came out immediately, but I had to remind the waiter after 10 minutes. Where is mine? I ordered the fish, which was well overcooked, damn near burnt to a crisp, and had no taste or flavoring whatsoever. Other than maturity, the chore that was on the skin char. Nevertheless, we ordered dessert again. My partner's dessert came out within 10 minutes of mine; however, it came out quickly in a 20-minute time. Again, on my first and last visits, I did not recommend this place most of the way; the staff were on their phones, and it looked like a high school masseuse. We stand for young, and we're always on our phones, not paying attention to their tables unless you are a young, hip person. If you're over 40 I do not recommend this place at all.
google avatar

Yelp
Best meal of my entire trip, hands down. This cute , quant, surfy beach local joint is a must on your trip. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing as you sit looking out onto the beach. I'll take waves crashing as my dinner soundtrack any day. Came here with a large group (8). We started with drinks - various amounts of alcoholic beverages.. watermelon margaritas, mojitos, I had the sangria which went down quite nicely. We started with appetizers - shrimp ceviche, cheese chicharrones, and oysters ALL completely recommended. Oysters were very fresh. I had the Baja shrimp tacos which come with 3 tacos, large portions and plenty of jumbo shrimp battered in a soft fresh batter. At the end of dinner, we concluded with a Kahlúa drink (on the house!). This place is CASH ONLY, and 100% recommended if you're looking for that 1 Mexican local taco joint that hits just the right spot.

Yelp
Great beachside food, nice staff, chill place to eat and relax Hostess: took our temperature and we were quickly seated. Food: Not an extensive menu but great food. (1) Smoked marlin tacos- served as a stew. Interesting and good. (2) Steak tacos- phenomenal! (3) Octopus chicharron- the best! Small octopus bits fried and served with great guacamole and tortillas. Unique, fantastic, left us craving more. (4) Ask for the habanero salsa if you like spice for your chips and salsa! Service: Good service, attentive yet relaxed Ambiance: Great ambiance on the beach, mainly 80s-90s tunes played in the background (one afternoon a whole Sting album), great place for enjoying some beer on the beach and enjoying life. Overall Cleanliness: above average Bathroom cleanliness: average, with above average communal sinks Value: good value but beer is more expensive here than similar beach front restaurants nearby Misc: Cash only (offered a nice 19:1 exchange rate for US Dollars), good free WiFi. I really wish El Barracuda accepted credit cards.

Michaela S.

Yelp
Incredible sunsets, super sweet staff and excellent food. Everything I've ordered has far exceeded expectations.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I popped into El Barracuda after spending some time on the beach. It was pretty busy around lunch time on a Sunday, but lucky for us we grabbed the last table overlooking the beach before the wait. The staff was very nice and super attentive. Our drink orders were taken immediately after we sat down. I got a passion fruit margarita and my boyfriend got the jalapeño mezcalita, which we both enjoyed sipping on while watching the waves hit the shore. I can only speak for the tacos we had, which I felt was just alright. I was on the fence about shrimp pastor vs. baja style and our server recommended baja. My boyfriend enjoyed them, but I wasn't too much of a fan of what seemed like double breading coating the shrimp. The carne asada tacos were ok, I could've done with subbing out the cheese for a little more meat and corn for flour tortillas. Overall, it's a nice place to have a drink on the beach. Oh and it is cash only, so don't forget your pesos!
google avatar

Sal E.

Yelp
Greeted by Jesse (she made us feel very welcomed especially as first time guests)! David was an excellent server, and has a wonderful support staff of food runners and bus helpers. The manager Pepe is outstanding and down to earth. The food was most important and nothing which we ordered disappointed!! Dinner by sunset was the best!!!
google avatar

Russell P.

Yelp
What's not to like? Beachfront eatery with relaxing vibes, efficient waiters, free chips, tasty adult beverages and good food. The guacamole appetizer was better than most. I had Shrimp tacos Baja style. (3 large tacos stuffed with battered deep fried shrimp). Yum! Full bar, limited wine choices. CASH ONLY, no credit cards. Worthy of a try. Like myself, you will probably return or suggest to friends.
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
Great drinks, views, and fish options. I ordered the Sangria. While the menu and staff are great, the best thing about this place is the view.
google avatar

Stephen W.

Yelp
We went here for a late lunch. There's a wonderful beach view to enjoy while you eat or drink. Our server was efficient and friendly. He spoke English well. It's cash only though so be prepared. We started with shrimp ceviche and it was so fresh, absolutely delicious. For entrees, my garlic shrimp tacos were really good but needed a crunch element like cabbage or something for texture. The wife had a piece of mahi mahi and it also was very fresh but because she ordered it grilled it was bit overcooked. The little one had what we would call fish sticks but these were actual pieces of real fish that had been breaded and fried. They were delicious. I would get those for myself. Highly recommended.
google avatar

stephanie b.

Yelp
Warning: will not accept credit card!!! There is no signage, and nothing written in the menu. I had $10 cash and the bill was $18. Eventually after back and forth with our server (who is talking to the mgr) they accepted my card. They use a dial-up modem! It took 15 minutes. Ugh. The food: Ordered a grilled fish taco.. very bland. Served with iceberg lettuce instead of cabbage. Ambience: right on the beach.. beautiful at sunset.
google avatar

Yelp
Probably most popular for the sunset view on the beach - but you don't really need to go to a restaurant/bar for that. The food and drinks here are decent - but not amazing. I also think the menu is over-priced. There are many other local places (including some with views) where you can pay less for more quantity and quality - and also pay with a credit card. El Barracuda is cash only. They have two kinds of ceviche - so, if interested, be sure to ask about each to get the one you might prefer/like better. The portions are small. Flank steak tacos seem to be more popular. Seating is available inside, at the bar, and on the beach. Service is friendly.
google avatar

Aliko E.

Yelp
I will start by saying that the view and the ambiance was amazing. You are right on the beach - there were tables on the sand but we sat up in the restaurant on the balcony. The service was 10/10 and our drinks were strong and tasty. The food was a bit underwhelming. I got the shrimp pastor tacos and my fiance got the whole fried snapper. We agreed both dishes were just ok. We would be willing to give it another chance. FYI this place is cash only
google avatar

Rafael A.

Yelp
Super delicious, gourmet tacos. All fresh salsas and tortillas. Wish they had aguas frescas to solidify the experience. Best octopus I've had in Puerto Vallarta.
google avatar

Mary A.

Yelp
500 feet from our hotel, this place was a gem! We had their tacos and they were good. The staff is so kind and friendly. This place is a bit American. The music, the vibe, etc. but the service is excellent. They only take cash.
google avatar

Timothy I.

Yelp
Quality: 3 Value: 3 Service: 5 Ambience: 5 El Barracuda is a must-try for those lounging on the beach and too lazy to walk elsewhere! The food is OK but not spectacular; the teriyaki steak was phenomenal, but the mussels and octopus were a little overcooked. You're really paying for the convenience and the ambience of just plopping down while on the beach.

Yelp
This seafood joint continues to shine! The various fresh fish dishes are superbly prepared and exceptionally plated. My red snapper was a work of art. The ambiance may be a bit dicey, but the beach view is hard to beat. This place is routinely busy, so service can be somewhat harried. The food is worth it. The lunch menu is offered until 5 pm and can result in some savings. Highly recommend

Yelp
The location was incredible.....on the beach with amazing sunsets! The surprise was their food and drink. The fish in the tacos was so fresh and they make some mean drinks! I had the beach sangria and it was top notch! The staff was very accommodating and prompt to any requests.

Yelp
Virtually every leisure beach market in the world has a bar like El Barracuda. Always poppin, great service, widespread English, and a great view. Many spots like this fall short when it comes to the food, but at El Barracuda that's not the case. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Hard to beat the service and atmosphere at El Barracuda. The views are excellent, the service is fast and friendly, and if your Spanish isn't quite up to snuff you're all set with English. One noteworthy thing here is that it's cash only, so keep that in mind. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? As you might expect, you pay a price for the comfort at El Barracuda at least compared to what you'd pay nearby. My three Baja Shrimp Tacos were 196,00 MXP, which came to about $3.20 USD per decent sized taco. That's a screaming deal anywhere in the US, but is pricey here in PVR. Even so, this is great value. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? As I mentioned I wasn't sure what to expect from the food at a spot that puts so much emphasis on their environment and view, but I was pleasantly surprised. My Baja Shrimp Tacos were very good, with some of the better battered and fried shrimp I've had anywhere in the area and some nice accompanying sauces. The peripherals on the taco weren't anything to write home about nor was the tortilla, but all in all good eats. Single Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Definitely. Star.

Yelp
Wow. What a beautiful dinner at sunset. The watermelon margarita was strong but good. We ordered shrimp and fish for our meals and were impressed. The best part was our seat which directly faced the sunset just as we were finishing our meals. This was one of our pricier meals in PV (most other meals were under $20 for 2) but worth it!

Yelp
The only reason they get one star was the shrimp tacos and location was decent. Very disappointed in watermelon margarita-small and watered down and flavorless. What was most disappointing though was the fact that the exchange rate was an arbitrary exchange rate in their favor, they only accepted cash, and they did not give us change for our bill so walked away with an unreasonably large tip. We will not be returning and diners should be aware and insist on fair practices at this restaurant.

Yelp
The food here was fair, but we were expecting a bit more from the steak and shrimp. The first weird thing I noticed is that the menu lists the entre as a ribeye, but it didn't resemble any ribeye I've ordered before. It's only about 1/3'' thick in person, so there's a bit of an optical illusion going on in a lot of the pictures, mine included. It's wide, but it's flat like a flank steak with no marbeling. Maybe they somehow fileted a real ribeye into thirds? Anyway, I think this is what caused some difficulty with the way it was prepared. My go-to temp, Medium-rare, came out from the kitchen as seared on the outside, raw on the inside. That's alright for tuna, but not so great for steak. We just asked if they could put it back on the grill for a minute or two and it came back a little warmer. The shrimp side of things was literally three shrimp on top. I don't know what else to say about that, but don't expect too much there either. Anyway, it was no great loss at 560 pesos, but my advice would be if you are expecting a steakhouse quality steak, this ain't it. Go for something else on the menu!
