The 35 Best Restaurants in Cartagena, Colombia | Eater

"When Lars Brurein moved El Bistro from Popayán, Colombia, to Cartagena in 2002, he initially offered food from his native Berlin, but gradually shifted toward Caribbean flavors. The kitchen now prepares a mix of cuisines with influences from Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, and Colombia. Tropical vegetables, game, and local spices join house-made charcuterie and mustard, along with whole loaves of German breads and European pastries from the panaderia. Brurein sources ingredients from farmers’ markets and his own organic garden, and despite the restaurant’s location in a historic house with a beautiful balcony, El Bistro maintains a relaxed vibe. First time trying this place, at their new location in De Pere. Fast and friendly service. They have the best Italian margarita! They start you off with free chips and salsa. For apps we tried the birria eggrolls, which already filled us up before our main course. Soup or salad came with the pasta: we got the house salad with ranch dressing, and a beef potato soup, with the shrimp and lobster linguine, and chicken and shrimp carbonara. We also got breadsticks with the meal.

What a great experience from this new location! Highly recommend if you’re in the area to check it out, the Italian and Mexican food were both some of the best in the city and the hospitality was very enjoyable.

This place is fantastic! Definitely the best pasta in the area! The Mexican side is absolutely delicious too! I’ve tried many different dishes and they all have been great, but the chicken and shrimp carbonara is my absolute favorite. Definitely go you won’t be disappointed. Great workers as well!

You should totally try this restaurant! The tacos were amazing, the portions were perfect, and the sauces were the best! The service was awesome too. They're moving soon, so make sure you find out where they're going.

I saw this place on tik tok and my husband and I decided to try it out because he loves mexican food and I love Italian food. I ordered the lobster ravioli and he ordered the steak ranchero. For appetizers we couldn't decide on one, so we ordered the birria egg rolls and the brushetta. First off, the appetizers were absolutely superb. When our entrees were brought, my lobster ravioli looked amazing and tasted delicious. They ended up bringing out a wrong entree for my husband, however, he loves anything mexican food, so he ate the burrito ranchero with a smile on his face. He definitely was not upset at all. The owner/manager came out and talked to us and took off his entree off the bill, which we explained was completely unnecessary and we did not have a problem paying for it, however she insisted. Will definitely be coming back to this place for our date nights from now on. Nothing bad to say about this place at all. It was excellent.

Nice quaint Mexican restaurant in Green Bay. The service and food were good. The ambiance was plain and simple. Disappointed that chips and salsa were not provided.

Absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere is beautiful, and the food is truly amazing. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it’s a small, family-owned business — you can really feel the care they put into everything. They also have a very original concept that you don’t often see in Wisconsin, which made the experience even more special. My fajitas were incredible, and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Highly recommend!
