"The Design District Mexican eatery El Bolero just opened in a new location this week east of I-75. The restaurant’s second outpost is located at 2722 N. Fitzhugh Avenue at the corner of Fitzhugh and Bennett. It’s from the same company behind Oak, Pakpao Thai, Royale Burgers and Merchant House. The space boasts a similarly vibrant interior to its Design District counterpart with “funky” design accents like colorful tile work created by Mexican artists, bright yellow bar chairs, mosaic black and white floor tile, and purple velvet chairs. The space boasts an outdoor fire pit and an upstairs tequila lounge, as well. The new spot will serve Mexican favorites from morning until late night and hopes to entice neighborhood denizens who work remotely with Wifi, breakfast tacos, churro French toast, and copious amounts of Mexican coffee on deck. For lunch and dinner, the menu will feature El Bolero standbys like wagyu tacos, salmon poblano, and braised barbacoa enchiladas, plus a late night menu will be available in the upstairs tequila lounge. El Bolero is now open and operates Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 7 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m." - Alaena Hostetter

Food - Good Mexican food .More of an upscale lunch or dinner place.Food is tasty.Variety of options available. They have only one vegetarian Taco (with cactus) available in the menu-but they were able to make a customized vegetarian Quesadilla for me . Coffee was good as well. Ambience - They have indoors as well as patio.Pets are allowed in the patio ,so get ready to see some pooch if you are dining outside:) Price - Bit higher. Parking - limited on premise. But lots of street parking available around the area.

Have been several times, always delicious. My only wish is they'd be added to open table. Have tried to make reservations a few times only to be told they don't do them.. but then I've gone in on busy nights and they asked if we had reservations? Confusing.. but the food is great, drinks are great, service has always been great.

Beautiful meal, atmosphere, and wonderful service. and seriously the best chicken fajitas I have ever had. It's just chicken right? No, it was perfect chicken. That is a thing I know exists now.

Great tacos, but the parking is almost nonexistent. Don’t see a spot out front, use the parking garage across the way. Please, unless you have a handicap placard, don’t park in a handicap spot. Some people really need them.

We stopped in after a convention at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson center. I had a bloody Maria and the brunch tacos. Everything was so good. The three salsa were all good but the verde was my favorite. Good food great service and affordable. Parking is good also.

Food is decent but a bit pricey for tex-mex. Chips are a bit too salty for my taste, but have a special seasoning flavor makes then different from other restaurants. Nice patio!

Kinda pricey but good food! It’s really more of an upscale Mexican place. As a Mexican I do approve the food is not tex-mex for the most part

No cheese enchiladas...so not sure I'll be back. Great service from Jocelyn...we loved her, but not crazy for the menu. The Churro French Toast comes with honey. Think since it's a "Churro" French Toast chocolate or carmel sauce would have made more since. They don't have regular syrup. Just an FYI. But for the record the Churro French Toast was good... really enjoyed it! ☺️
