Yelp
It could have been a restaurant of any ethnicity, some of the food was Greek to me.
Right in the middle of Downtown, Central LA, Boyle-Heights & HP/SG/Bell on Washington in LA on the corner of the famous Soto Street not far off from the 10, 5, 101, 60 Fwys & Olympic blvd lies El Borrego De Oro Restaurant.
Btw, Borrego means Lamb
I am evaluating this food from the perspective of a Mexicali Mexican raised in the USA, may rating may be lower than others.
Barbacoa
I am used to more seasoning in my barbacoa, I will not say this was bland or flavorless, but from my perspective it had less seasoning than I was used too. But, still it was great in terms of the meat, the heat and the greet.
Consume
I did not eat much, my two buddy's who loved it. The consume tasted like Pho with no seasoning. It had a little hominy, beef flavoring and a side lf onions, cilantro green & red suace to add.
Salsa & Chips
Man, that red sauce was hot, as I humorously learned.
Next time,
If I get the barbecoa or "Buchete" as my buddies reffered to it I will get the rice and beans instead of the consume. Why? because the seasoning of the rice and beans will balance the less seasoned barbecoa. Though, I kind of wanted to try thier asada too.
There is usually enough parking, but its not a huge lot. Service is very freindly and the servers are beautiful too.
Finally, there may be a Corn stand outside, fresh and warm, you can season with lemon or other items.
