El Camaguey Meat Market

I’ve been going to El Camaguey for years, and it’s truly one of my favorite spots. It’s a Latin grocery store with mostly Mexican products, but they also carry a great variety of Brazilian items. You can find guaraná, batata palha, catupiry, Brazilian meats, and so much more. The staff makes the experience even better—Edu is always so helpful in finding anything you need, and Iza, who works in the kitchen, prepares everything with so much care. Speaking of the kitchen, they serve delicious Brazilian food for lunch, and their Brazilian carrot cake is honestly the best I’ve ever had. El Camaguey brings a little piece of home away from home, and I recommend it a million times over!

This market has a Brazilian to-go restaurant inside. The Brazilian carrot cake with brigadeiro on top is divine just keep in mind the supermarket closes at 9 PM, but the Brazilian cuisine section closes at 5 PM. The prices are great too! I just love this place.

I have been patronizing this store for years. It’s the only place I find a lot of Peruvian items I need for Peruvian dishes. Like frozen ají chiles, Inca Cola, and beef heart from their butcher shop for anticuchos. And more….

This store is very small but has a great selection of meat,produce and groceries you can find food from different countries Brazilian,Colombian,Peruvian,Salvadorian and many many more. Today I get to try this beer from Cusco 🤪

I love shopping at El Camaguey market! The produce, cheese, and meat are fresh and reasonably priced. They have everything I consider to be essential and more!

They have a great selection of Latin food however this store is overpriced and more importantly dishonest. See the picture I'm attaching. They charged me for three (3) pounds of cheese when the manufacturer weight is 2.5lbs. I just noticed it when I got home. Just be aware and be careful

Many Peruvian products! I miss my country and I was able to find great snacks, sauces, and frozen food. Aji Panca, Aji Amarillo, rocoto, pollo a la brasa sauce, frozen papas amarillas, olluquito, aji no moto, choclo, huancaina, uchucuta sauce, canchita, chicha morada, casinos, margaritas, inca kola, and galletas de vainilla!

I had a terrible experience at this market yesterday. The cashiers were extremely rude and impatient. They started scanning my items without asking, and when I said I didn’t want to purchase one of the products, the cashier told me to take it out myself with my own hands. Their attitude was completely unprofessional. Also, I recommend checking the expiration dates before buying anything, the products I bought were very close to expiring. I will never shop at this market again.

We've been shopping here for years. We buy the frozen Guanabana & Maracuya fruit for smoothies, Marie Sharp's hot sauce from Belize, meat, Plantains, and other foods that you can't find in regular markets. If they could just lower the price on the Colombian Bola Roja beans, we would start buying those here too!

Great assortment of South America food, fresh meat cuts, fresh vegetables and fruits. There is a Brazilian kitchen in the back that makes fenomenal tasty pastels (ground beef with catupiry is the best). Free parking. Friendly staff.

Finally made it here bc of the meat selection!! Quality and value on point! Awesome selection of all the other non-perishables from flours to beans to tortillas and sauces. Great market if you're looking to cross cultures food-wise and don't wanna go to a few stores because the selection of Central and South American food is amazing. The staff are the friendliest and all around clean with super fresh produce! Parking lot is small but you have street options! What a sweet spot that will def become a regular one especially for the meats!

Great little market that has plenty of items from all of Latin America however DO NOT get the Brazilian sausage from the deli! I'm not even sure what meat that is but it's a red, gamey mess. It reminded me of donkey that I had eaten in South Africa once. That sausage should not even be called Brazilian because it is nothing like linguiça. An embarrassment really to call it Brazilian.

I have been shopping with parents and neighbors who are from Cuba.Their store has everything you need. The employees are very nice.

This spot makes grocery shopping genuinely enjoyable. The selection of Latin American products is incredible fresh produce, quality meats, hard-to-find spices, and everything in between. What stands out most is how well-organized everything is, and the staff is always helpful and kind. Whether you're looking for ingredients to cook a traditional meal or just want to grab some arepas this is a great option!

Something for everyone! The owner of this delightful market is from Bangladesh and he celebrates food and people from all around the world. Dozens of flags from around the globe are proudly flying from the roof of this family owned market. Inside the market you can find premier Latin, Caribbean, African, Middle Eastern, Asian, Mediterranean, European imported groceries as well as traditional American staples. Enter the market from the small free parking lot and turn left to the fresh produce section. Here, you can buy fresh nopales, (cactus) peppers, herbs, gorgeous fruit, vegetables and hard-to-find exotic fruit. After the produce, continue on to well-priced kitchen ware. I picked up a few glass-jar candles in a bunch 9f different colors. 5 stars. Head towards the back of the market to place an order for handcut marinated meats, poultry and fish. Turn right and stock up on frozen food like Brazilian cheese bread, meat pies, empanadas, mofongo, and family-sized portions of restaurant quality frozen dishes. The pantry here is my personal favorite part. I bought passion fruit jam, (5 stars) Cocada cremosa (sweet coconut cream spread with fruit). 9 stars! Paella, fufu, jerk seasoning, curry powder, lentils, pigeon peas, fair trade coffee. 5+ stars. This market is super clean and uncrowded and the staff are wearing masks for your safety and protection which makes this place a great choice compared to nearby crowded grocery stores during the pandemic. Chefs from all backgrounds will appreciate the gourmet ingredients available here. The owner is a super sweet man with an amazing story to tell, a huge heart and a lotta love for mango, exotic fruit and food from all around the world. With his talent of bringing so many different cultures, food and flavors together in perfect harmony, maybe he can also unite crips and bloods, Republicans and Democrats and all our friends who are stronger together! Well done my friend. I love your strategy for bringing things together. 5 million stars.

Always check the dates on the products you buy here. Many of the things up for sale are expired and they have a huge sign that says NO RETURNS. Go figure. Just opened up my groceries and see half of the products I purchased are expired or expire in a month or two.

Came here for Brazilian picanha and found what we were looking for! Butcher took care to trim off fat for us and pieces to size for us. There was a line when we arrived. Lots of Brazilian options and snacks!

Excellent products, service and quality vegetables from alfajores to Harina Pan and Latin America antojitos.

This market had a nice variety of meats at a reasonable price. The guys at the counter were friendly and helpful. The owner gave us a couple of small tokens of appreciation as a first time customer which we greatly appreciated!! Who does that these days?!? He nailed the first impression which will definitely keep us coming back for more picanha and chorizos!

Such a great selection on products, meat, and they are friendly!! So many products to choose from along with kitchenware and such. It's my go to place.

Excellent place to find a variety of South American products, mainly Brazilian, Colombian, Peruvian, and Argentinean. They also carry Mexican products as well. The best part of this grocery is Cantinho Brasileiro, a Brazilian kitchen that operates by the meat counter. It's a hidden gem. Limited parking in front. Street parking available. One of the best selections of Latin American groceries, frozen foods, beer and wine one could hope to find in all of Los Angeles. Excellent meat counter and produce department, as well as some hard-to-find Brazilian items. Highly recommend!

They got a wide selection of South American products including cold meats, cheeses, juices, teas, sweet and salty treats, fruits and veggies. I bought some Colombian sausage, Brazilian soda and Argentinian alfajores (cookies that are addicting -- the store attendant mentioned it butI already know ). The place has a small parking lot that you might be lucky enough to get a spot. Last time I was there I got green plantains to make empanadas and fruit concentrate from a Brazilian fruit that is not locally found here but is packed with good stuff. It's always a good day when I remember about this market and I just drive there to get some delicious treats. "Cantinho Brasileiro" is inside the market where you can get Brazilian food (sooo good btw!). Stop by and be surprised. If you're looking for something in particular, ask the attendant. They're pretty helpful.

Not as large of a variety of fruits and vegetables that I would've hoped for, but I'll definitely be coming back to see what comes into the produce section as we move towards summer. However, I did find sugar apples which I'm incredibly excited to try. I bought other products such as soy curls, lentils, chocolate, and curry sauce. Tons of items for only $38!

They said:" You can take the girl out of Peru, but you can't take the Peru out of the girl ". I totally confirmed it when I moved to LA in 2003, I was totally homesick and missed my food a lot until a British friend found this place and since that moment El Camaguey is one of favorite Latino markets. This store is literally Aladdin's cave for every Peruvian. It has a large variety of Peruvian products. You named it: herbal teas, different types of aji (Peruvian hot sauce), chocolates, tons of cookies , Inka Kola (Peruvian soda), frozen Peruvian corn, olluquito. Even chocotejas ! I am so thankful to this store. The only issue I have is their parking area which is weird and small, sometimes I feel I am going to crash. You can park on the streets too but during nighttime is so dark that I wouldn't recommend it.

I love this market and i stop by to stock up on their product at least every week or every other week. I have been a regular costumer since about 2008 and although i love the market I have to say that the guys at the meat section are horrible to deal with. I am not quite sure if it's laziness or if they are just plain rude, but I never had a good experience with any of them. I saw one lady tipping them one time and it might explain with the are so rude or do not want to help or will give you shitty cuts, like someone already meantioned here. Anyway, i love Camaguey for anything but the meat department. The girls at the cashier are nice.

Great little market filled with South American flavors, including Brazilian ingredients, seasonings, and snacks. Can't express how thrilled I was to taste some of my childhood foods, like requeijão, catupiry, guaraná... there's is also a Brazilian snack bar operating inside the market, where you can buy coxinha, pastel, kibe, and even full meals. I will be back.

Incredible market, which has the most gorgeous and delicious Butcher shop in the back, which also carries gorgeous fresh prawns and white fish. I've been coming here for many years, and have renewed my relationship during the the covid lockdown, as I have found this shop to be conscientious and practice good social distancing and ways to protect both their staff and customers.

This place is sad, not like people describes I went to get some Dominican product but what a surprised and disappointment, like other mexican market in my neighborhood. Don't waste your time and gas going to this place.

2 stars for the convenience to my apartment. Just like one of the reviewers said, The men cashiers are rude and say nothing when taking your money. The girls that work here are always friendly and polite. The store itself has standard Latino and American items and there's a little to go place that I've been wanting to try that still haven't. Maybe they will be nicer than the men cashiers?

Although the name officially is "meat market," they sell a lot more. I drove by on an early morning and noticed the place. Years ago I went inside and was pleasantly surprised this time because the place looked so well-maintained. All the shelves meticulously stocked, they've got a lot of good stuff. I needed Worcestershire sauce, they've had a lot of choice. Their meat department looks fresh and clean. Same goes for the fresh produce. Look, it's not Wholefoods. The word "organic" isn't to be found here. Does this make a less of a grocery? No, absolutely not. Although it's great if we can to, not everybody can afford to purchase all things organic. And this fresh produce looks good, some of it better than some of the big supermarkets! Friendly service, reasonable prices. When I'm in the area, I'll be back!

If you need Picanha and other brazillian food staples, they have a good selection, and the staff is very helpful.

Excellent market with a Brasilian takeout kitchen in the back. Noticeably weighted towards Brasilian tastes: great selection of Yerba, dulce de leche, frozen pão de quiexo in freezer cases. Great meat and produce selection. Very nice people. All round winner.

Great selection of items from all Latin America. Best Brazilian Picanha cuts you can find. The butcher section also holds a great selection, besides our go-to Picanha. They also have take out of Brazilian food, great sized portions, home-made seasoning and delicious taste. The frozen section carries a wide range of Latin American items (and yes, there is Pao de queijo and requeijão, for you Brazilians out there), and the produce section alwaus carries those fresh items that are normally hard-to-find on a regular grocery store (you think passion fruit, multiple varieties of bananas, large fruit selection). There is parking in the front and back of the store.

El Camaguey is an awesome market to buy everything you need for a carne asada taco party. The carne asada meat is fresh and delicious. The freshly made salsa is legit. They have awesome dried items as well. They have a good amount of different types of starch, which if you happen to need swt potato starch vs corn starch (yes, it comes out different), this is your place!! Limes, cilantro, and other fresh produce included.

People in this market are very rude. Take your money without a word of thanks or anything. Meat dept also rude and not helpful at all. Half of the counter have no prices on the product PAID $7.99 per pound for ribs that are $5.99 to $6.99 elsewhere. Just plain rude people and rip off prices. STAY AWAY. UGGH

While I don't purchase meat here it is my go to spot for all Goya products. Sofrito, Recaito, Sazon, it's not easy to find these products in Los Angeles. It reminds me of a NYC bodega they have a little bit of everything.

I can say I really love this bodega. I knew there was a gut feeling to go this place. The only thing which is missing is hot food. Otherwise you would be able to call this a mini northgate, mini el super, or mini superior market. The good thing about this place is every latin country is covered here. It was really shocking to find this place got venezuelan soda! All types of exotic fruits are there. Mamey, soursop, papaya, passion fruit among others can be found here. You know one thing about los angeles is that big chain stores have essential foods. However the mom and pop small stores have exotic foods. Often in my mind I say latins are next to kin to us africans. This market is just proof of this

I was looking online for a place where I could buy Bacalado, which is a fish that you cannot find it in many places... well, the website came out with some places, and I chose to came to this one, because I'm kind of familiar with the area. . The store is big, and has many and different food selection, from Portugal, Brazil, Spain, Puerto Rico including Mexico... Vegetables and meat looks fresh!!! The place has it owns parking, is located in a big Blvd (Venice Blvd ) and the people who works there is so helpful and friendly... I strongly recommend this place to buy your produces!

Great place! Picked up carne asada, marinated chicken, chorizo...all yummy. Very nice cashier too. Guy who helped me was helpful with my trying to figure out how much I needed per person.

4 stars. Good neighborhood market with a good variety of Latin American goodies from many regions, Caribbean, Central and South American, lots of Goya products (it's like "The House of Goya"), Iberian sardines, etc. Sauces, condiments, drinks, beers, wines, frozen goods of all sorts... I was even able to find DECAF La Llave here! (It was a "you had me at hello" feeling.) Some products have prices clearly labeled, but many others do not. Has a butcher/meat department, friendly butchers. The produce looks like it could be generally fresher compared to the supermarkets. Small-ish parking lot up front. $6 minimum purchase for credit card. Prices are fair, some on the higher side (but if I can find it here, I don't have to drive out somewhere else). Verdict: a good Latin market here on the Westside. This one is great for the variety. "Yay! I'm a fan."

This is a very convenient grocery store. Prices are about on par with the super markets, but in a much friendlier atmosphere. They have the best Carne Asada I have found on the west side of Los Angeles. Homemade salsa and a wonderful assortment of queso fresco make this a must visit.

Delicious carne asada marinade ! Helpful service. I bought a few pounds for party and it was devoured. They have several cuts of beef as well as chicken and pork. Free parking. Easy to find. Highly recommend !

Very interesting place with nice and Helpful people. I wanted to purchase cheese bread and other items to give a Brazilian party a real flair and this place did the trick. We thought the sodas and desserts were really good. I will go back to buy the meat and to try some of the items the tiny kitchen prepares for take out.

Best whole in the wall market around! With all these super overpriced stores around it's hard to come by a place that has authentic Mexican ingredients. The butcher knows how to marinade carne asada properly! If you are going to Vons to buy that bull crap "carne asada" pre marinades meat you are being cheated out of your money! Go to this market and ask the guy for carne asada he will add the marinade to the bag which is the proper way to do It! Over marination will ruin the texture of the meat! This guy is a carne asada guru! Love this market and glad it has not been torn down to build some more BS apartments or upscale crap! That's gentrifications for you welcome to LA ladies and gents!

LOVE THIS PLACE.....!!! Been going here for years. For a small place they certainly have a decent variety of foods from Mexico, Central, South America, Portugal, Brazil, Spain, Puerto Rico and many items that you just won't find in most conventional grocery store. Love the butcher shop. Great quality meats, sausages, etc. I highly recommend any of their chorizos.... YUM.... !! And, they will custom cut whatever you like... Oxtail, short ribs, etc. They also have a small "take out" restaurant that offers fresh Carnitas [roasted pork] and a decent menu of authentic, home-cooked style Latino cuisines. Mostly Central, and South American. Lastly, they have a very interesting variety of packaged goods from many different Latino cultures so, for a Gringo like ME, it's always fun to just browse the isles and find new things to try. If you've never been to this market, you're missing out.

What can I say bout a supermarket which stocks Guarana, Brahma beer, Argentine chorizos and Acai !!!!! I'd been searching for Brahma ever since moving to LA and had been forced to pay through the nose to a guy who stole it from...but that's another story. Next time around I'm gonna buy a smorgasbord of hot sauces.

Love this market!!! Wonderful variety of Latin American ingredients that THIS PERUVIAN can't seem to find in other stores... (and trust me, I've searched high and looow!) Over the past five years, Ive been frequenting this location for hispanic grocery staple items, including goya lentils, peruvian canary beans, cracker meal and export soda crackers- just to name a few, but basically I've always been able to find ingredients to help make my dishes taste a 'little more like home'. the staff is always super helpful and although its a teeny tiny store, they are usually very well stocked! but now that I've moved a little more east, i realize there aren't that many other hispanic grocery stores in my area!!! honestly, this place is THAT great, and I still drive aaaalllll the way over here when i need my supplies, i just buy in bulk now! so check it out, 5 stars for el camaguey!!!

I've been shopping here for almost 4 years now, it's about time I reviewed it. I can't really think of a reason to give it less than 5 stars- for what it is, it's awesome. The produce is fresher than at many of these small markets, and they have lots of great Latin American products, including a wide variety from different countries, like the cheap beer we would drink while traveling in Guatemala.. They started serving tacos for a while but I don't think they do that anymore, but they do have a deli section with meats and cheese. The people are pretty nice and helpful. Great little neighborhood market for grocery staples and specialized products.

My husband is from Argentina and we lived there together for 3 years, so there are a lot of items we both miss. This place is so cool because they not only have some the best wines, treats and Argentinian sauces but they also have all the cuts of Meat that you won't find at your regular old Ralph's. I even snagged some amazing strawberries for $1. Great prices and great finds. Heading there now and thought I'd leave a review since I looked up how late they were open on the Yelp app.

I've been coming here for years to stock up on hard to find Latin food products. Now they have a woman cooking food to-go for parts of the day. She was reviewed by the L.A. Times and I went today. WOW! Mrs Garcia wasn't there because she took her son to the doctor, but I still got the "Arroz con Gandules" (rice w pigeon peas) and a lovely Eggplant Stew. This is some of the most delicious, authentically Caribbean food I've ever had (and I grew up in Puerto Rico!) I also got some Puertorrican Pasteles (tamales) but they're frozen so they'll wait their turn. Go there. Now. Order it all. It's very reasonably priced and more important, delicious!

I'm a Cuban American in LA and this is where I come to get the comfort foods I was raised on. There's no other place like it that has ingredients for Cuban, Spanish, Argentine, Columbian, Venezuelan, and many other types of Latin cuisine. Thankful to have this place. It's not a customer service spot, but if you come knowing what you need, it's a gem.

Best place to buy EXPIRED groceries. Keep the hard work, you'll have a visit from the Health Department soon.

my family and i have been coming here to buy stuff for our brazilian bbq nights. meat quality is so good and so cheap. their cheese bread is so good too! bought more meat to have brazilian bbq with my friends and it was a hit. i dont know how much pichana i bought, i think the guy cut 2 packs for me, and it could have easily fed 12-15 people (ALL FOR $40.. so much cheaper than going out to a brazilian bbq restaurant). also have chicken, sausages, and other meats in the deli section. so glad the guy was so nice to me bc usually my uncle comes to get the food so i had no idea what i was doing. i just kept asking a bunch of questions and he was happy to help. the interior of the store could use some updating though. theres also only like 5 parking spots in front so expect to park on the street.
