Google
passing by from puerto rico & my friend brought me here, WOW!!!! que comida mas fresco y ricooo!!!! 100000/10, the food was fresh, the minute you walk in, you just smell authentic food, absolutely delicious!!! when traveling through again, this will most definitely be on my list of places to go to

jaime chavez

Google
really enjoyed the food here! The tacos and enchiladas were tasty and fresh. The staff was friendly and quick with service. Prices were good and affordable for the amount of food. I’ll definitely come back again!

Google
The food is great here me and my family love it. The service is not so good. I always try to order ahead for pick up but they can never seem to answer there phone, I know the phone is working because I can hear it when I get there. Other then that great food. 👍

Google
The food is okay. I haven't been back for years because the people who work there seem to always be angry and serve you very rudely. Today when I returned, what do you think? They're the same workers from many years ago. They had the same angry expressions. The service is terrible. And now it seems like they even sell you napkins and spoons.

Google
I have been here a few times before when I worked at a hospital down the street. I was in the area so decided to come back. I chose a carnitas plate with a side carne asada taco. The carnitas were soft yet crispy which is what I LOVE. Great flavors. So very good. The rice was super flaky. Delicious. The beans were perfectly seasoned. The carne asada taco was PERFECT. So good. The aqua de Sandia (watermelon) was soooooo good. Definitely recommend this plate. The food is authentic Mexican and delicious. !!!

Google
Well worth our first trip!!! Had the Kobe Special (not listed on the menu) Carnitas with rice and beans. Great Carnitas and not fatty, almost thought I would not finish the portions. My better half had the Chile verde that was also delicious!!! Yes we’ll be back.

Google
Great food, been going there for over 30 years. Perfect every time

Google
Great Carne asada burrito today. Eaten here lots of times but never gave a review. Consistent, delicious and authentic Mexican food. Good portions good value good eats!! (Added my own avocado at home today) Salsas add good flavor, red is spicier than green. Friendly staff amd clean restaurant.

David L.

Yelp
Wanted to try Kobe's go to joint. #1 was his favorite and the carnitas was a huge portion but I found the meat to be quite salty. Knowing that the Mamba & Vanessa loved this place got me here.

Innas I.

Yelp
I honestly went here because it's been reported by many outlets that this restaurant is Kobe Bryant's favorite Mexican restaurant. This place was shockingly really amazing. For a location in Fullerton/OC, it reminded me of a restaurant that I would expect to find in a local neighborhood in LA. They have a large menu, but I highly recommend their hard shell tacos and tostadas. Every order is made fresh to order, so I would recommend getting something that involves the tortilla to be fried, because it tastes so good and fresh from this location. Definitely coming back.

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Literally my favorite Mexican food restaurant. Always hits the spot!! The tacos dorados and sopes are bomb too.

Arnold W.

Yelp
This place is known as Kobe and Vanessa favorite Mexican restaurant. I'm a big Kobe fan, so I had to give it a try. I enjoy taco salad so I ordered it. It was full and delicious. Lots of meat and veggies and avocado. I wish the carne asada was a little more charred.

Dustin B.

Yelp
I'm updating my review to be fresh. My regular morning order here (about twice a month) is a machaca plate with no rice. The rice is fine but I'm cutting back on grains. That leaves them a compartment to fill with beans which are perhaps the best in OC right here. They are brown-gray, smooth, porky, and perfect. The Machaca has shreds of beef, egg, onions, tomatoes and peppers. The tiny diced veggies take more time but show more care for the dish. I add some of their fresh salsa verde to my machaca and eggs but they don't need it. The plate is always seasoned well.

Jenessa A.

Yelp
I love this food! Anything here is good. I go in for the nachos, taco salads, taquitos and enchiladas but honestly anything you get is really good here and I love the environment when eating here this place never fails me when I have my cravings for hard shelled tacos! Totally recommend this place!

Stephen B.

Yelp
El Camino Real has always been my go-to, all time favorite, Mexican food restaurant in the Fullerton area. You can't go wrong with ECR. Their food is always so delicious, super affordable, and quickly made to order by their friendly and efficient staff. I recommend literally everything on the menu. A+++

Tamara T.

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood and craving nachos and El Camino Real popped up on my search results. They're in West Fullerton in a small shopping center. There's plenty of parking in the lot. I walked in and ordered asada nachos and the cashier asked if I wanted a half or full order! It's rare to find places that offer a half order of nachos! I ordered the half and asked for green and red sauce and sat down to eat and noticed out of the corner of my eye the big photo of Kobe on the wall and realized this is the spot where Kobe ate! After that realization I tried the nachos and they were great, but the proportion of toppings to chips was off. I had to buy another bag of tortilla chips to finish off the rest of the nachos since there was at least a 1/4 cup of toppings left. Definitely would recommend especially if you want a half order of nachos!

Anthony C.

Yelp
Food is very good, but the front service can improve. As I watched a few times I've been here, the men in the back prepare the food real fast. But the females in front spend more time laughing and talking while people wait for the food.

Martin V.

Yelp
Long overdue review! My wife and I have been coming here for over 20 years. It is delicious! What has kept us coming is their almost perfect consistency. They do not change their recipes nor products used. It is almost exactly the same as it was when we first started coming here and that is great. Some restaurants try changing up their recipes or try saving cost on using less expensive products and ruin it. Not here! First, the Carne Asada Torta. I have had Tortas from so many places and many that are much much bigger but never have any been better than the one here. They are again made to a like almost measured perfection. Perfect taste and balance for a Torta. The Chile Verde is another favorite. Just simple and so good. Goes great with their house made chips and tortillas. Chips and Salsa: For years this was one of their best offerings because it was free if you dined in. One of the best picos. After Covid they got rid of the house made chips but brought them back thereafter for a fee now. Still very good though. They have delicious Carne Asada Quesadillas as well. Their tacos are good but not what shines here. They use to have a fruit stand inside where they would make amazing Hawaiiana Fruit Salads. I wish they still offered them but they sadly removed the stand and stopped offering them. They also had a panaderia inside that was also removed. There is always a good amount of parking located near a Stater Brothers. It is lively and can get full. A lot of there staff has been there for the near 20+ years we have been going there which is awesome.

Sandra G.

Yelp
Looove the food. Haaaate the wait time. I usually call in my order, but sometimes they don't answer the phone. I understand they're busy but the number of orders called out are at a much slower rate than any other taco/Mexican restaurant that I go to. Expect to wait about 20 minutes for your order.

Donna S.

Yelp
This is a no frills Mexican restaurant and now, one of my go-to places for carnitas, birria, and nachos. I've tried the plates (carnitas and birria), burrito (carnitas, asada, and chili relleno), half asada nachos, and horchata. Everything is delicious and at an affordable price. The only regret is ordering half nachos - should have gone with the full!

Vincent T.

Yelp
Reasonable prices and great food! It wasn't on the menu but I asked for a chili relleno burrito and they were able to accommodate. They were pretty busy on a Monday around 1, and we didn't wait long for the food to be ready. Forgot to take a photo of my burrito, but nevertheless the food was delicious. Friendly staff in the front too. Seems like a lot of locals come here. Would come back and stop by for tacos if I'm ever in the area.

JJ J.

Yelp
food is always amazing. The attitudes and service have become horrible. If you feel that you are overworked and underpaid, take a vacation or find another job I have been a customer here for 12 years maybe the service is really degraded and the attitude as well. Don't post a picture of the legend, Kobe and the mamba mentality and treat people like their trash It's OK to smile when you're taking an order it won't hurt you I'm sorry for this harsh reality check but it seems and feels necessary I love you guys

Lee T.

Yelp
Food tested great as usual!! Have been coming here for at least the past 12 years off and on. The only thing I can say that' needs improvement is their phone ordering system

Krishna C.

Yelp
Fullertons own Richard L. recommended this restaurant while we were shooting the shit at Ian's playground. Since Ian is a sucker for all foods Mexican, we immediately headed out to this place. Lucky for us, their dinner rush started fraction of a second after we placed our order. Phewwww. Ian got their Nachos. We failed to request No beans on his Nachos. The taste is far superior without beans according to Ian. Next time! Chili Relleno Burrito was adequately priced for the portion. However the chili to Burrito ratio should be a little bit higher! Asada Taco hit the spot! The place appears to be popular. Kobe Bryant references are always nostalgic!

robyn h.

Yelp
The salt ladened food was horrible!! And the prices wet up! If you have high blood pressure don't eat there.

Danna P.

Yelp
My husband and I are fairly recent fans. I drove from West Garden Grove last night to get takeout to eat for lunch today. That is how much I love the food at El Camino Real. The pico is so fresh! I buy the 32oz container! The green sauce is also bomb! My husband races cars at DukWho a few doors down and discovered it a few months ago. He took me on a weekend to show me how awesome their tacos were. I was hooked! Unfortunately I have not added any pictures. That will come soon, because we will be going there again in the next few days. The pico juice is so yummy I find myself wanting to drink it.

Luis B.

Yelp
Food is decent, nothing crazy or out of this world. The customer service on the other hand is horrible. There's a few that are really friendly and Approachable, then we have the ones with the RB face and can't even have the basic customer service skills to treat a customer. And don't even. Think about asking for extra salsa because you get what they believe is suitable for your order, we would have gladly paid for extra salsa but it's cash only since it's a small amount. We didn't see a sign saying that if not I would have gladly paid for it upfront

Erin F.

Yelp
Favorite Mexican restaurant in town! The carnitas are delicious! This is my go to place.

Isaac M.

Yelp
I've been to a lot of taco spots all over southern California. And I would put the tacos here up against some of you're favorite and you would agree they are in the top 10 spots in all of southern California! one thing I want to point out is there consistency! alot of resturants get good reviews but once they get alot of traffic their quality of flavor goes away! like they try to hard to just get orders out, not el Camino they have had the same bomb flavor since day one to present day! same bomb flavor. You know when you see our men and women in law inforcement and fire fighters and emts show up consistantly to the same resturant you know its bomb!

Katla T.

Yelp
I've been a long time customer, I've come since they opened. This Friday evening was a horrible experience, the employees were all very rude. They used to be so caring and patient, now they seem to be bothered when simply ordering. My son ordered a quesadilla that was half the size it used to be and the same price if not more. My tacos were a mess, the tortilla looked old and was cold. This experience saddened me as I loved coming here, but won't be back

Gabby K.

Yelp
El Camino real is a the real bean and cheese burrito gem in Orange County. This review is solely on the bean and cheese burritos. I know it seems like such a simple thing how can one place hold the title of having the best. Well.... El Camino real really does it right. First things first their tortillas are fresh, I mean FRESH. The consistency of this tortilla stands out so a fresh tortilla is the base of your homemade beans and ample amounts of cheese bean and cheese burrito. I've had it both wet and dry but my personal favorite is wet with red sauce. I love the savory red sauce combined with the cheese to me its perfect. El camino also makes it really easy with their call in option, which I highly recommend, they get pretty busy so calling on your way ensures a quick pick up.

monique e.

Yelp
Great food but would it kill the ladies to crack a smile to provide friendly service. The ambiance has nods to Kobe so that's always nice to see. Anyone else experience that unfriendliness? It's just sad and ruins my appetite unless the first bite is taken

Clifford H.

Yelp
Long time local treasure. Been coming since opening. Family atmosphere. Quick friendly reliable. Great tasting food.

Neri H.

Yelp
Love their food taste presentación and prices are good and for Mexican food I will go there.

Veronica S.

Yelp
Bombest Mexican spot around...and you know there are a lot of spots! The tacos dorados (crunchy beef) tacos and carnitas are my favorite. The breakfast burrito is another favorite and their red chili!!

Arlene H.

Yelp
Food is amazing here. I LOVE carnitas! So I feel I'm the biggest critic everywhere I go. I have a favorite place however, El Camino blows them away. I had carnitas Nachos and the carnitas meat was tender, melt in your mouth carnitas, not salty. My Family had combo plates with rice, beans and a pile of chicharrones - crunchy and delish. The food was generously given, enough for two people to split easily. I wish they were closer! Oh and get a big giant Jamaica drink.

Patti O.

Yelp
They used to be THE BEST. I'm thinking they changed cooks??? Something is wrong. We went in to order and they still got our order incorrect. Ordered hard shell tacos... they gave us soft. Last two times I ordered chicken tacos, they were so very dry! I don't know what happened... maybe they sold the place???

Rodiel Kirby B.

Yelp
There is no better place for traditional Mexican cuisine. I have been to Mexico and would still prefer this place for traditional Mexican flare. I do miss their salsa self serve station that disappeared due to COVId but understandably so. I've been going here more than 15 years and I would recommend their chicharrones by the pound which we get in an all meat burrito as well as their carne asada quesadilla.

Alina S.

Yelp
Not to be missed! Must stop if you're a Kobe Bryant/Lakers fan. I read an article about how Kobe liked ordering carnitas at this place with his family and it happened to be close to where we were staying. I very much enjoyed my carnitas sope and the carne asada taco was on point, probably the best asada I've had by far. Bummer they do not have tamales or flan but I will be back to eat here next time I'm in the area for decent Mexican food. Only a 15 minute drive from Disneyland.

Chris C.

Yelp
Always authentic and amazing! Love the Chicharrones when you can get em! Salsa Roja is great too, just the right amount of heat!

Caroline P.

Yelp
I stopped by here after hearing two of my patients say they had good tacos. I got the chicken. Asada and carnitas. The day was hot and the AC seemed broken and the lights were off. They didn't turn the lights on until I was almost at the beginning of the line. Kid you not, the wait was at least 20mins before getting to place my order. The cashier lady was a bit chatty therefore the line just kept piling up. The food guys in back chopping and making the tacos etc. we're efficient and churned orders out beautifully and quickly. I finally ordered and it took less than ten minutes to get my food. Carnitas was good but had some hard parts which I had to spit out. The chicken was well flavored. The asada had good meet quality but lacked flavor. Nice mom and pop place but the cashiers should definitely churn through the busy lines faster for efficiency.

Priscilla V.

Yelp
Great food with reasonable prices. Been coming for 18+ years. No matter what I order, it's always great. Chile relleno, green burrito or carnitas. The carnitas nachos are the absolute best with chunky guacamole and thick pieces of meat! Any place that always has a line is a place to go! Family owned business with great food! A must visit.

Guy J.

Yelp
This place is way overrated-- the prices were reasonable and that's all. Carnitas were fatty and weak taste-- no browning to create crispy ends. Small portions of rice/beans No free refills

Guillermo M.

Yelp
Food here is always great. Looks amazing and also taste great. But it isn't highest quality. It's more highly seasoned. Meat cuts aren't the best. But seasoned well.

Christine M.

Yelp
The last time I was here, they sold the whole rotisserie chicken. The counter girl said the oven broke and was never replaced. So it's been a while. I really liked this place. Recently went in for tacos. I was introduced to something new. The most delicious Chicharron Lonja tacos, a very Crispy pork belly. Top with lime and Chile. HOW I WISH THEY SOLD CERVEZA. Unfortunately, while we were waiting in line, one of the cooks had a half eaten plate of food. He put the remaining rice from his plate back into the rice that is near the glass window alongside the other food. He then threw his plate away, so he must have just come back from lunch and didn't eat his rice. GROSS! Needless to say, we didn't order rice. I'm sure there's many things that happen when you go out to eat. You just never know and take your chances.

Tony A.

Yelp
Food is great and come here at least once at week. There is nothing is the menu that's not delicious. A/C is always at full blast which is great. Two thumbs up. Service is always fast

Lorena S.

Yelp
They have good food but they had me waiting 30 min for just one burrito and a side of chips. The people who ordered before me and after me had big orders and they hot their food well before I did. I don't like breathing down their necks so after about 25 min I asked cashier Karina (same person who took my order). She went back to look and came back asking for my receipt as they probably threw away my ticket on accident but not even one apology was offered and she did not look slightly sorry. I worked in the food industry for 3 years and I know this happens but the least she could've done is looked apologetic.

Philip Y.

Yelp
RIP Kobe!!!!! This restaurant has been on my try-out list for several years. I just never had a chance to go even though i live in Fullerton. We got to write this place off my list today! I am gonna go straight to the point! As far as my limited Mexican food experience can go, this place serves authentic Mexican food. I ordered a pork Tortas and my GF ordered a carne asada burritos. The flavors and portion were spot on perfect. and pricing is good as well. 2 items and a medium drink came out to $21 dollars. Two thumbs up and gracias!

Peter C.

Yelp
I was in the OC/Fullerton area and was craving burritos. Used Yelp to search for a yummy place near my doctor. Went to El Camino after my appointment and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant could use a little refresh but it had lots of room inside if you wanted to dine in. You order at the counter and pick up at the counter as well. We ordered a breakfast burritos named after the restaurant El Camino which was delish! Had bunch of items, bacon, cheese, potatoes etc.. also order the Carne Asada burrito which was good as well, but didn't look as big as the breakfast burrito. Overall price for both was $20 which was a decent value.

Sarah E.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in Orange County. We've been going for over 20 years. High quality meats and freshest ingredients. Service is always great. Two taco beef plate is the best. Ask for extra red sauce on the side for your tacos, you won't regret it.

John K.

Yelp
I love this place. Order the carnitas it's awesome. Whatever you order will be good!

Alora M.

Yelp
In 1996, while working at a bookstore, I asked a local cop where the best Mexican restaurant was in town... he said, "Camino Real, and he was right (which cops usually are because IYKYK...) All through the next two years we ordered from here often, one week burritos, another tortas, sopes, tacos... we tried them all and loved the food. From time to time when I was in town we'd stop and get something and it was always good... now 26 years later (eek!) I've stopped in again and the food, service, everything is just as good as it was then... hubby had the fish taco combo plate and he devoured it... he's pretty fussy so I know he really liked it... I had the sopes: carnitas and pastor... flavors are still what I remembered, and I washed them down with a Señorial... a great lunch and so happy to see this business continue to do well... hope I can come back again soon for more familiar, super yummy food...

Yenny D.

Yelp
Thank you Kobe for putting this spot on my radar! I honestly didn't know about it until it was featured on the news (RIP Kobe) and finally came around to giving it a try recently. I've had their Al pastor burrito and the El Camino breakfast burrito and both were yummy! The El Camino breakfast burrito is SOLID and everything is reasonably priced. They're busy, but friendly and open for dine in as well. No frills kind of establishment, they take credit card.

A G.

Yelp
Food is always great and hot all the time. Just keep in Mind they Close on Tuesday's.

Joel S.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in the area all the meats I tried were good especially the carnitas absolutely flames. Workers are legit; cool little spot. Got lucky and went before the lunch rush.

Lynsey K.

Yelp
I come here all the time because the food is very good and my hubby loves it - however when I was there today - I felt like I was an outsider because I didn't speak Spanish, they treated me rudely ,but I'll go back for the food

Jamie M.

Yelp
I've been coming to Camino real for years now. Specifically for the tacos de chicharron, They're great with the red salsa. I also recommend their aguas frescas, all of them are really good! I usually don't have complaints except for the service or the amount of salsas we get. Service needs MUCH improvement. The ladies in the front always seem to have an attitude. Anytime I ask for extra red salsa it seems like a bother to them, I'm willing to pay for extra but don't make customers feel as if they're a bother for wanting extra. Today I asked for 6 tacos de mixtos and only received. Will this stop me from coming back again? No. Just wished service was better.
