El Caribeño

Great Caribbean food in this little hole in the wall. Great plantains, mofongo, empanadas, and other Dominican specialties. Our food took about 30-40 minutes to come out, so don't come here if you're in a rush! It was worth the wait though.

Good food. Loved the alcapurrias, tried bistec encebollado. The tostones were great too. All the food tasted fresh. Wait time for food was long, it understandable. I would call to order for carry out instead next time.

I'm in a tough decision I liked your food but your price for a order of rice and beans is expensive I was charged $8.00 dollars for rice with black beans half lunch container was not even full . I would like to return but that eight dollars for lunch container half full doesn't make my belly feel good. Either put more rice in container or change the container.

Awesome food! Coming from a picky eater, I thought it all was great. We had dinner catered for about 40 to 50 people, everyone enjoyed everything!

Looking for authentic ' puertorican ' food, we've tried ' others' and were disappointing for very specific reasons (quality of the food, wait, locale, etc). But El Caribeño being primarily ' dominican ', was such a delightful surprise on all specific reasons above. Food is phenomenal, service is excellent, wait is what needs to be in order to have great food but not too long, tastes incredible and the actual flavors and recipes where authentic to Puerto Rico, even though this is a Rep Dominicana place with very friendly, welcoming and awesome Méjico staff (at least on the day we went) :) Perfect! We won't go anywhere else from now on to enjoy 'Caribe' food in Detroit!

Love this place. Nice place to relax and enjoy a meal. But its not fast food so you should have the right expectations. Try the sopa de sancocho on Saturdays. Great service too

Some of the best food i have had in a very long time, the juice and the shakes were a great treat too
