"This White Center Mexican restaurant has so many great dishes that the menu fills up an entire wall-sized chalkboard. But if you're popping in for a lazy weeknight dinner, we recommend directing your attention to the sopes section. These thick masa cakes drip with tasty chicken juice and are stacked high with beans, pickled onions, lettuce, and crema—which makes picking one of these up about as precarious as the final moments of a Jenga game." - Kayla Sager-Riley

DONT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!! Terrible!!!! Did a carry out order and got our order wrong the first time, so had to wait longer for them to make sure they got our order wrong. As if we didn’t know what we ordered. Wasted 50$!!! On 2 taco plates, Guac and 2 aguas. Taco plates came with NO limes or onion/cilantro and the guac came with no chips?! Just a waste of 50$…WILL NEVER ORDER HERE AGAIN. And if you’re thinking about ordering here DONT.

This place is awesome. A hidden gem in Oak Cliff. The food is fresh and EXTREMELY TASTY!! The Birria tacos are some of the best that I’ve ever had. The rice was so light and fluffy. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I could not believe how reasonably priced it was! There is even a store that sells Mexican candy and cool trinkets on the other side. Definitely check them out. You will be happy 😊.

Google
I had the caldo de pollo. It was pretty good and loaded with veggies. I will definitely be back to try something else on the menu. The corn tortillas are huge and made fresh. You got chips with 3 different salsa's. The green salsa was to spicy, but overall good flavor. I also liked the decor and small mercado. The customer service was great. Fri 04/14/2023-Hubby and I stopped by for a quick bite. The food was okay. There have been some changes. The service was good, but the portions could have been better in my opinion. We both ordered a tostada.

Google

Google
Thanks for the nostalgic vibe. Plenty of picture taking and good food! Easy to park and walk to if you can't pay the meters. Love me some nachos! These are de al carbon well dressed 👗👌 Shout out OC

Yelp
Awesome 10/10 Enchiladas Verdes were epic. My dinner partner got the burrito and loved it. This is great food. The chips are great and the salsa has a unique smoky flavor.

Yelp
This is a cute little restaurant with a charming atmosphere. Our waitress provided great service. She was friendly and had a good sense of humor. The horchata was perfect. The mole & tortillas were freshly made an delicious. The beans & rice were good. Unfortunately, the chicken chile relleno was awkward and a bit unpleasant. It had chicken, but it also had surprise chunks of beef. I like beef, but it didn't belong in the chicken chile relleno. It was also very sugary sweet. Either the batter is full of sugar or the pepper had been soaked in sugar. The sweetness completely ruined the dish. The verde sauce had a nice amount of heat. They had beautiful art on the walls, but at least some of it was clearly printed from a screenshot. That leads me to believe that they illegally stole it from the artist by screenshoting & printing (or whoever they bought it from did). That's a copyright violation. The art literally still had the music symbol on it, like you would see on a post online with music (see pic). Support artists & photographers. Don't steal from them!

Yelp
Being from Southern California I was excited to try some Texas Mexican for the first time and I was not disappointed! Very charming place, super friendly servers and amazing food. Very authentic and flavorful. The chips and salsa were the best I've ever had. Torta was well put together and a good balance of flavors. Definitely made with love

Yelp
Amazing unpretentious food . All made from scratch from a tiny humble kitchen . I last had mole in Meridian Mexico and that blew me away . Today with reservation I tried their Mole Poblano . It was delicate and with a depth of flavor I did not expect . These are hard working people please give them a try . Food is just excellent .

Yelp
Like i told the guy working. Rare i visit a place twice. Let alone in the same week. I'm quite satisfied with service and food quality. The food was flavorful and hot and the salsas... YES PLEASE! Spicy/hot is right where I want to be. Mom had the enchiladas and I had the Birria tacos. The quesadilla was a next day item with breakfast and family was happy. A solid choice. The inside of this establishment is very on theme for culture and decor. I can see myself sitting with friends or whoever and having a beer and some food. Its not totally tex mex like some of these other places. I may have found my spot. A third and fourth time will be needed with other dishes to officially decide.

Yelp
From the moment you walked into and the moment you left, this place was such a cozy experience. It's brightly decorated with posters from sports, music, and film. The background music wasn't overbearing. You could actually talk with your company. There were too many choices, so we ended up getting a few different items to try, and it was worth it. The freshness was refreshing, and flavors were complex but subtle. The mole was perfectly balanced, and found it was an aunt who created it. There were two guys who took care of us. Both were very attentive and kind. A heads up, you will have a small wait for the good, but it's worth it. Even though we were very full, we got dessert anyways; a super rich and decant chocolate cake as well to a caramel filled churro. I beg you to come try this place, it's an experience that's unforgettable!

Yelp
Came to eat with my brother we entered and sat down waiting patiently for someone to attend us we waited about 10-15 minutes but the guy just kept looking at us js sitting there then that's when my brother said let's go elsewhere never experienced that there before

Yelp
Truly, the best Mexican food I've had in DFW! I've been here 3 years. It is literally like going to your grandma's house & eating the most comforting food in the world. I was left speechless. The service was fantastic, & the decor is so fun! I will be coming back again & again! I typically don't leave reviews, but this place deserves all my love.

Yelp
This place is great during the week, I've been here for birria tacos and tacos de lengua. When I've been here, the lady who I believe is the owner is very kind and sweet. I took my boyfriend to try it out last Sunday and the food was ok, we got the Machaca, and the Caldo de Res. But that's not why I'm giving it 3 stars. The service was poor, the lady didn't greet us. Came to us with a "what do you want" attitude, was not friendly, and when our food came out and I asked for lemon she rolled her eyes at me. She seemed to be nice to everyone else (all other 2 tables she had)

Ruben ..

Yelp
Used to be good but straight trash now. Tried the nachos the latest visit and was just chips with horrible meat on top and a side dish of cheese sauce that is worse than a gas station cheese machine. Asked the waitress why the menu says cheddar cheese on the nachos and she just said they're trying different things with the dish but hasn't been really working. This is after they had to remake the churro because they burnt the first one. Never ever again.

Andrez L.

Yelp
Clean restaurant. Been twice this week. Friendly staff, one was a ln elderly the other night was a young female. Food is delicious and authentic. Pleasant environment too. Will go again soon.

Maria C.

Yelp
Everything was excellent omg those salsas are the best! Tacos super yummy those tacos with homemade tortillas were amazing!

Lia B.

Yelp
We were in the neighborhood at the Bishop Arts Theatre Center. Yelp led us here, and I'm so glad it did. Brightly colored, and filled with families, we were welcomed in immediately. We had birria tacos, chicken enchilidas, and carne asada. Very much a iykyk kinda place with large portions and low prices. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I was rolling down Jefferson with my toddler nephew when I saw the magic word "birria" on some signage outside El Catrin. We immediately detoured into the color explosion that is this cute Mexican restaurant! The woman working was very nice and the food was great. I ordered the birria tacos and my nephew had chicken nuggets. The nuggets were toddler-approved and were a hit, and the birria were probably the best tacos I've had so far in the city. However, there was no consommé/stew to dip it in which was the only negative. I'll be back to work through more of the menu, this place is great!!

Jessica A.

Yelp
I used to love this place, but not any longer. They now play music so loud, you can't hear the person 2 feet across from you. And while I typically like the music, it isn't restaurant appropriate. the service has gone to s#!t ever since the woman who owns it had been absent, and the food isn't as good. but they raised the prices. I truly miss how it used to be. Simple, authentic, delicious. It just isn't enjoyable anymore.

Yelp
I have been leaving in Bishop for a couple of years and am mad! I didn't know about this place. It may look like a hole in the wall but they have been a mainstay in Bishop for 10 years!!! I opted for the fajita plate which included fajitas, cheese enchilada, cheese quesadilla, rice, beans and a small salad. All for less than $15 and super tasty. Like so tasty I want to order another plate for lunch tomorrow. I'm so glad I got to eat here. This is definitely now one of my fav Mexican spots in Bishop.

Shelby G.

Yelp
10/10! Very authentic food! Everything was so delicious. Service was also great .. a little slow but due to there only being one server but she made sure we were covered 100% ... ambiance makes you feel like you're in Mexico

Mamma J.

Yelp
Awful service, so so good and poor ambiance. Entered and no one let us know to sit or wait for a table. Asked for a regular coke and 3 people had to come over and discuss the choices with me. ( I speak fluent Spanish) Then received salsa and chips. We asked for salt. It took 20 minutes to receive it. Ordered birria tacos and rice and beans. They stared at us like what did you want? I asked for no cheese on my bottom tacos and they brought soft tacos with no birria consome. When I asked about the wrong items brought to me: 4 more people came over to figure it out. Finally received the right order. I then went to tue bathroom and the door lock was not working so people walked in on me. Meat was too bland. Salsas we're so so Will not be returning or recommending

Jannie D.

Yelp
Best place to have the most delicious food!! I couldn't have been more pleased husband and my daughter enjoyed our meals. They had the best costumer service and beautiful decal. I would recommend. Will be back soon.

Angelica A.

Yelp
Decent food, a bit Overpriced. The service was okay. Well decorated for photos would go for alcoholic drinks.

Alma S.

Yelp
Food is fresh made and delicious. Service is great. Great authentic Mexican food. Ambiance is fun.

Yelp
Best Mexican food I've had in Dallas. This is a really cool little mom-and-pop place, and it's got an attached convenience store that sells Mexican candy, snacks, and sodas. The restaurant itself is phenomenal. Their Chicken Enchiladas Verdes are my favorite, along with the pozole soup. It's so hard to find pozole at all, let alone GOOD pozole, and this place nails it. Their Carne Asada is delicious too. You seriously can't go wrong. Also. Margaritas? Magnificent. Definitely check this place out. It's right next to the Bishop Arts district, but not in the gentrified part. So basically, you can feast like a king here for the same price you'd pay for a couple of flavorless cupcakes a few blocks away.

Mari G.

Yelp
It was my first time eating there. It's a small place but feels very welcoming. Food was good and great customer service. I will return to try the gorditas.

Abel F.

Yelp
While others skimp and charge extra fir chips or "handmade" corn tortillas, here they kindly ask you if you want more. Delicious food, great atmosphere and excellent service. Definitely a hidden fem in Oak Cliff.

Wendy R.

Yelp
This little gem has recently been remodeled. It is so cute on the inside and offers authentic Mexican food and drinks.

John K.

Yelp
This place is so freakin good!!!! I'm from LA and my standard for taquerias are pretty high. Man i dont even like beans and their beans were so good! From their tacos to their salsas, so so amazingly good!!!

JoAnn G.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. Good food and friendly people! The art within was beautiful. I'll definitely be back again when I'm in the area. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the food. We were hungry. Only downside was the bathrooms. Although they were clean, the men's room had no soap and the toilet was clogged. The lady's room smelled like someone dropped a major deuce but there wasn't any air freshener nonetheless I like this place.

Maddox M.

Yelp
Soooo I got off work early and had an appt and had no idea what I wanted! Spotted this little gem around the corner and OMG these birria tacos are Devine!!! $11 bucks for 2 birria tacos with consome and of course chips and 3 salsas brought to your table. They are family owned and you can tell they truly care and appreciate their community. Go there! They also offer a full bar and great ambiance.

Ella M.

Yelp
Really good birria tacos and aguas fresco. Wonderful Mexican small business located in a really cool neighborhood. They serve alcohol and the interior decor is beautiful.

Meme L.

Yelp
Ladies in the kitchen turning out freshly made corn tortillas, delicious birria tacos & Grandma's Molé which is not to be missed. Will be sure to visit on a Saturday when they serve Zacahuil.

K M.

Yelp
Great music, awesome decorations and amazing birria tacos. I meant to take a picture of them prior but they got demolished pretty quick lol. Definitely recommend this place for tacos and the piña aqua Fresca was delicious.

Chris B.

Yelp
I'm in town from Houston and decided to stop by this humble restaurant and was not disappointed. Their Caldo de rez was delicious and so was the Chile relleno plate that I got with beans and rice instead of salad. My only complaint would have to be the Lime cucumber natural water this day was a little on the bitter side but overall good place to get some food.

E. H.

Yelp
Came here this evening because I was in the mood for some Birria and I was just around the corner in Bishop Arts. The birria was fine but I was overcharged at almost $5 per taco! Maybe I was overcharged because I'm a gringo, idk. She tried to overcharge the other non-Spanish speaker next to me but he called her out on it and she corrected his check. I let it go and still left a good tip because it's the holidays and businesses are struggling but I prob won't return due to shady practices (and the lack of soap in the bathroom).

Kieu N.

Yelp
Made it a tradition to eat here when I come to the area. I love the flavor of their hot sauce and seasoning on food. Love their fajita tacos with home made tortillas.

Xaiver S.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Great service! Food taste very authentic, family friendly environment. Some of the best Mexican food I've had between Dallas and L.A.

Jasmin C.

Yelp
The food is great with a lot of options! very homey feel , was attended to very quickly , people in place make you feel very welcome !! awesome place

Bobby E.

Yelp
I discovered this gym while I was driving around working. In my opinion, one of the best taco joints in Dallas. The chips and salsa were homemade, and the staff was very friendly. I had 4 tacos Al pastor/Trompo and they were amazing. The tortillas tasted handmade, and the meat was perfectly seasoned and they don't skimp on the amount they give you. If you're ever in the Bishop's arts district and want to treat yourself, I highly recommend it. On Mondays and Fridays their tacos are only $1!

Erica B.

Yelp
Great food! Everything I've had hits the spot every time! Go on weekends for their pozole. Don't be afraid to try The mole de pollo! Also Family owned are always my favorite- support your locals!
