London’s New Restaurant Openings

"A colourful Mexican bar and restaurant in Camden, El Cenote is serious about margaritas and tacos. You can get frozen jugs of the cocktail to share, and on Tuesdays it’s 2-for-1 on tacos all day long." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

El Cenote Review - Camden - London - The Infatuation

"Even if the tacos at this Mexican restaurant can be hit and miss, and the food isn’t memorable, El Cenote is a handy spot to know about for fun meals that can go on until late—1am on Fridays and Saturdays. It fully embraces its Camden location, around the corner from a line of furry moon boot-wearers waiting to get into the Electric Ballroom, and opposite Inverness Street Market. This isn’t somewhere you go to escape the bustle. It’s loud and busy, and has a lovely little terrace that overlooks the potential disarray unfolding on the street. The best seats are the booths next to the tequila and mezcal bar—order the passion fruit margarita and collapse into piles of gold sequinned cushions, post-tortilla and salsa dip session. photo credit: El Cenote photo credit: El Cenote photo credit: El Cenote" - Sinéad Cranna

Great food in a great location! Everything was fantastic from the food, to the service to the atmosphere. Thomas our server was great! Very patient and attentive. Such great service that we gave him a cash tip! I did see he put it into a jar hopefully the full tip went to him at the end of the shift as it was well deserved. My only complaint was that I think they should double the tortillas on the tacos as they can break due to the amount of filling and we also found that some of the meats in the taco was cold. Besides that everything was perfect. We came for taco Tuesday, such great value for money and a very good selection of tacos to choose from.

Exceptional quality, fresh and authentic Mexican cuisine and drinks. The manageress was genuinely very kind, patient and supportive which put me at ease. A hidden gem just off Camden High Street and very close to Camden Town station. I will certainly be returning here.

El Cenote is a charming little restaurant tucked away in a quieter part of Camden, offering a welcome break from the usual hustle. The food is as vibrant as its surroundings, delivering authentic Mexican flavours with confidence. The ceviche stands out — simple, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The drinks menu is equally impressive; the hibiscus margarita was a personal favourite, expertly crafted, and the classic Cheladas lived up to their reputation. The service was attentive and friendly, rounding out a genuinely enjoyable experience.

As a fellow Mexican.. I visited London in March. I was missing home food and had a really difficult time finding “Authentic” mexican food. When I tell you the food here is amazing it’s very authentic, please believe it! The tacos were soo soo delicious.. tasted just like home. They also had “Jarritos” a mexican soda which I had to order as well. I spoke to the owner who was present and complimented him on the food & atmosphere. The owner himself is from Mexico 🇲🇽 This place is the spot. Search no further.

Our favourite little taste of mexico. The staff are always welcoming, warm and friendly (and super knowledgable about their tequila), the cocktails are on point, the food is always served in good time (even when busy) and is ooooooh my gosh, SO tasty! We've been for both the regular menu and the Mariachi Brunch and cannot recommend enough!

Such an authentic and vibrant restaurant. We had super tasty cocktails at £6 each before 7pm and 2-4-1 Taco’s on Tuesday. So flavoursome, incredible value and would highly recommend this gem!

Loved this place. Owner was so friendly and welcoming. He gave us good recommendations for food, which was amazing, and excellent cocktails 🍸 Classic margarita was well made and not too sweet. Would recommend. Happy hour cocktails at £6 were a bargain. Really nice, chilled environment on a Monday night. Food flavoursome and with small details that made it so tasty. I will definitely go again!!

Highly recommended! This cozy, charming restaurant is owned by a powerful and friendly woman. The bartender crafts the best margaritas we've ever tasted. The food is delicious and fairly priced. Be sure to make a reservation in advance cause there are not that many places. We had a great evening over here!
