London’s New Restaurant Openings

"A colourful Mexican bar and restaurant in Camden, El Cenote is serious about margaritas and tacos. You can get frozen jugs of the cocktail to share, and on Tuesdays it’s 2-for-1 on tacos all day long." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

El Cenote - Review - Camden - London - The Infatuation

"Even if the tacos at this Mexican restaurant can be hit and miss, and the food isn’t memorable, El Cenote is a handy spot to know about for fun meals that can go on until late—1am on Fridays and Saturdays. It fully embraces its Camden location, around the corner from a line of furry moon boot-wearers waiting to get into the Electric Ballroom, and opposite Inverness Street Market. This isn’t somewhere you go to escape the bustle. It’s loud and busy, and has a lovely little terrace that overlooks the potential disarray unfolding on the street. The best seats are the booths next to the tequila and mezcal bar—order the passion fruit margarita and collapse into piles of gold sequinned cushions, post-tortilla and salsa dip session. photo credit: El Cenote photo credit: El Cenote photo credit: El Cenote Pause Unmute" - Sinéad Cranna

SCARY GOOD MEX 🎃 📍 Camden, London ⭐️ 5/5 💸 ££ 🍴 We went to @elcenotecamden for this #Halloween season and wow, the vibes were immaculate! Neon lights, Dia de los Muertos decor, and the kind of energy that makes you want to order one of everything (which, let’s be honest… we kinda did). We started with: 🥑 #Guacamole with Tortilla Chips — perfectly fresh, zesty, and dangerously moreish. 🐟 Tuna #Tostadas — my absolute fave! Marinated tuna on a crunchy tostada with chipotle mayo, avocado & crispy onions. I could eat 10 of these! Then the #taco lineup (in order of obsession 😍): 1️⃣ Birria — slow-cooked 7hr beef, melted cheese, salsa roja… melts in your mouth perfection. 2️⃣ Carne Asada — charred steak with salsa martajada, simple & powerful. 3️⃣ Cochinita Pibil — juicy, aromatic pork with pickled onions and spice. 4️⃣ Taco Al Pastor — that pineapple twist always wins. Don’t forget their Taco Tuesday deal: 2 FOR 1 tacos all day long! (You know where I’ll be every Tuesday now...) To drink, I had the Strawberry #Margarita... dangerously good 🍓 My friend went for the #Horchata, the sweetest, most comforting cinnamon rice drink ever. #Camden, you’ve done it again! El Cenote is officially my new go-to for tacos, tunes, and tequila!✨

As a fellow Mexican.. I visited London in March. I was missing home food and had a really difficult time finding “Authentic” mexican food. When I tell you the food here is amazing it’s very authentic, please believe it! The tacos were soo soo delicious.. tasted just like home. They also had “Jarritos” a mexican soda which I had to order as well. I spoke to the owner who was present and complimented him on the food & atmosphere. The owner himself is from Mexico 🇲🇽 This place is the spot. Search no further.

Exceptional quality, fresh and authentic Mexican cuisine and drinks. The manageress was genuinely very kind, patient and supportive which put me at ease. A hidden gem just off Camden High Street and very close to Camden Town station. I will certainly be returning here.

Great spot for Mexican food. We shared the grill plate which was really tasty, and the margaritas are excellent. Can’t wait to go back and try the tacos

El Cenote is a charming little restaurant tucked away in a quieter part of Camden, offering a welcome break from the usual hustle. The food is as vibrant as its surroundings, delivering authentic Mexican flavours with confidence. The ceviche stands out — simple, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The drinks menu is equally impressive; the hibiscus margarita was a personal favourite, expertly crafted, and the classic Cheladas lived up to their reputation. The service was attentive and friendly, rounding out a genuinely enjoyable experience.

The best Mexican food I’ve had in the UK. The tacos were absolutely phenomenal, truly delicious food. The staff were lovely and everything arrived quickly and unbelievably fresh. I hope to see more of these around the UK

Such an authentic and vibrant restaurant. We had super tasty cocktails at £6 each before 7pm and 2-4-1 Taco’s on Tuesday. So flavoursome, incredible value and would highly recommend this gem!
