El Charro 2

A great find. Authentic Mexican food is hard to find and they have alot. Food was very good and the service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend the charro margaritas.

Ordered a large cheese dip and they brought us a small cup of cheese dip saying that is the large. We ordered fajita nachos and they had very little toppings tasted very bland. My son ordered cheese enchiladas and they were very dry. Cheese dip was watery. Waitress did not speck good English. Atmosphere was hot and stuffy. Will not be back.

The same great food you remember from the old Cantina Cinco De Mayo is at El Charro! Everything is delicious from the salsa to the queso and all the entrees. I'm so happy to have my favorites Mexican food back in Benton.

Enjoyed a recent visit very much. Our waiter recommended the Chile Verde and Verde enchiladas, and I'm glad we followed his recommendations. Both were excellent, as were the chips, salsa, rice and beans. Looking forward to another visit soon.

Walk in and it looks nice…minus the huge spill on the floor that had no wet floor sign over it. Waited to be seated finally was being seated and was told watch out for the spill on the floor….took the waitress FOREVER to come take me and my friends order. Was brought some salsa while looking over the menu….tasted like tomato paste with cilantro or somethin in it…took a bite of the end of the chip and was done with it. Absolutley nasty. Finally 20 mins later the waitress comes back…I just wanted a water after tasting the salsa and my friend ordered the chicken nachos or whatever….the water tasted like DIRT. I took one sip and was done, took another 30 mins for my friend to get her food. Food finally arrived and OMGSH are you serious….non edible and what do you know the waitress disappeared for another 15 minutes we had to get another waitress. I’ll call the other waitress over and simply ask her what all is supposed to be on the plate that my friend had got she couldn’t even tell us that she gets our waitress over there and start speaking Spanish in front of me and my friend, which I found to be very rude and offensive because what are you saying in your language that you can’t say in front of paying customers faces?! The waitress had no clue what was supposed to be on it and finally grabbed a menu. Needless to say all my friends plate had on it with some Burnt chips very few strands of chicken and very little cheese absolutely horrible and will never return and never recommend.

For the price, it was great. Food was aligned to my expectations- hot, fresh, and tasty. Portion was big for a lunch special. Service was really good- very attentive and friendly. Restaurant was very clean and bright. I will certainly be back.

Slow service. We asked for green salsa over and over. Food was bland. My chicken enchiladas were warm and could tell it came out of a can. Margherita's were watered down. Nothing to write home about. We won't go back.

Oscar has been missed since 2020 when Cantina Cinco De Mayo burned!! He’s back with all the favorites from before!! Excellent authentic cuisine and plenty of drinks to quench your thirst!!! Service is top shelf!!!

Headed out to get our fix for Mexican food. Decided to try El Charro because they have Coke products. As soon as we set foot in the door we were greeted and seated. We didn't have a chance to say boo and the chips and salsa were served. Our server took our drink order and we perused the menu. I had the fajitas and my wife had the cheese enchiladas with chicken. She also had the margaritas. The server was exceptional, he took pride in his job and it wasn't a "no problem". The food was plentiful and came out hot. So often at today's Mexican places the food falls short of expectation and the service wasn't welcoming. I was impressed with the establishment. Does it have the bells and whistles that others have? Nope, but I had a nice meal with an attentive server and I am a happy camper. We will return.

Just had to post this... aside from my husband and I loving this restaurant, we have a son who prefers this meal he chooses to carry out and eat at home, probably four times a week. They've never met the Cheese and chicken boy, so I thought I'd post a pic of him enjoying his favorite meal. Thank you for always having his favorite Chicken and cheese hot and ready every time.... He's a happy man.

Food wasn't so good. The ground beef was very bland in taste as well as the cheese sauce. The hostess was very friendly but I don't think I will be going there again.

Food was very good Service was fantastic. Drinks were awesome. I will definitely be coming back.

Oscar Valadez is back in Benton!!! Cantina Cinco De Mayo was our go to spot til it burned in late 2020!!! Same great recipes and you know service with Oscar is SUPREME!!! Totally new bar area and an awesome patio to boot!!! Felt just like old times, left full of deliciousness!!!

I wouldn't give this place 1/2star if I could post without one. The food still socks! The only thing that's changed is the name. My daughter and I went there for lunch. (LUNCH!!) and it cost me $30. The staff walks around with a computer and they won't give you a paper check the will tell you your price, and after asking for a paper receipt I found fees on there that they tied to charge. I telling you that I refuse to ever eat there again!

Absolutely the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. Highly recommend. The wait staff was great, and the food was fresh and hot.

I'm not sure why there are low reviews on a new restaurant. I, for one, extend a little grace to new businesses that are still trying to work out all the kinks. That being said, we were very pleased with our lunch experience here at El Charro. We were sat right away and chips were brought out immediately. I wasn't crazy about the salsa, but my wife loved it. So, that's a personal preference issue. Our drink order was taken promptly, and we even had a second server notice we had no drinks and came by to make sure our drink order had been taken. Our meals came out correctly, fresh and hot. You can always tell when refried beans have been sitting under a warming plate for a while. Ours were brought out to us as soon as they were plated, evidently. Our server made sure our drinks were refilled adequately without being a bother. The food was exactly as we expected it would be. I wasn't crazy about the checkout process where you have to sit there with your server looking on while you decide what kind of a tip to leave. I, personally, leave a generous tip for good service. But, this way, I don't want to take the time to punch in a custom number with them standing right there so I usually pick one of the available options. The options are normally always less than I would've left otherwise. To sum it all up, El Charro is miles ahead of the restaurant that formerly occupied that space. We'll be a frequent lunch guest, I'm sure.

The salsa is quite good. Service is fast and attentive without being intrusive. The prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. If you're looking for ambiance, this is not fancy. It is my favorite local Mexican food, though, and I could eat there all the time. Coke products to drink. My daughter loves the horchata.

El Charro near Wal-Mart! Food was meh, the music is way too loud, it's hard to enjoy meal and visit, I literally had to put earplugs in! Chips tasted like store bought, we most likely won't visit again.

I went there yesterday and had a wonderful experience. We were seating right away, and the chips were brought out quickly. The salsa jar was only half full, but that's nothing to ding them about. They gladly bring you more any time you ask. I ordered the beef fajitas from the lunch menu and they are perfect. The flavor was amazing and the beef was very tender. My beer was very cold, and while the wife's 24K margarita was good, it was a little week on the alcohol compared to their sister restaurant, Cinco De Mayo. Still nothing to say anything bad over. The service was unbeatable, and the staff was very friendly. El Charro is a great place to eat in my opinion. I'd say the prices are fair. A little higher than Hacienda, but the quality is much better. You get what you pay for. There is also some items with good prices too. As the other 2 reviews i read prior to mine mentioned, you pay your check on a pad they bring to your table. They politely ask if you are ready, and you would expect them to bring you a paper ticket. But they do wait while you do it. Knowing this now, I will make sure i am completely finished prior to saying I am ready for the check. I'm easy, so this is still nothing to ding them on. I got bigger things in my life to worry about. I am sure they will get that part ironed out as time goes by. Give them a shot, I think you'll enjoy it. beats the heck out of the local competition.

The food I got here today was the most disgusting thing I've ever put in my mouth. When it came it looked like a Mexican TV dinner! I bit into a taco and thought I was eating dog! I'm serious folks! I couldn't believe it! And the so called enchilada was even worse! And the food was cold! I mean cold! The salsa was great though! And the chips! It was expensive too. The service was insanely terrible. Never again! Worst food ever in 62 years!!! Absolutely disgusting! How can they stay in business????? I would advise never to go to this restaurant.

Don't do it! The only good thing about it was the cheese dip & margaritas. The food was less than average and the service was terrible. Then they charge you outrageous prices & instead of giving you a ticket, the waiter stands there with an electronic pad for you to tip him/her right in front of them! We were trying to find an alternative to Senior Tequila so we didn't have to drive to Little Rock but this ain't it! We will NEVER go back again.

Service was okay. The food was good and hot, they give you 2tbl of rice and beans. Had to fight off a fly the whole time we were eating. The waiter asked it we wanted the bill ,I said yes. He just stood there with his electronic machine waiting for me to pay . I wasn't finished eating" swatting the fly" would I eat there again? I'd probably order out.
