18 Perfect Phoenix Restaurant Patios for Dining Alfresco

"Nestled between Camelback and Mummy Mountains in the heart of Paradise Valley, this lovely old adobe lodge — an iconic landmark surrounded by palm trees, cactus and desert plants — offers up a delicious taste of Arizona history without feeling remotely stuck in time. The place is justifiably famous for its alfresco brunch, thanks to its gorgeous setting and legendary sticky buns, but don’t miss green corn tamales with eggs or the nostalgic shake (a tangerine freeze, optionally jacked up with booze). Locals and tourists show up for happy hour or a balmy dinner on the fireplace-warmed patio over classics such as trout amandine and beef stroganoff." - Mcconnell Quinn, Nikki Buchanan, jamiekillin, Rudri Patel

12 Indispensable, Classic Phoenix Restaurants

"Originally built as the Judson School for Girls by prominent local doctor John C. Lincoln, this gracious old adobe morphed into a restaurant and lodge (and got the name change) in 1937. It soon became a popular hangout for Valley movers and shakers, not to mention Hollywood celebs like Clark Gable. A major makeover in 2009 expanded both outdoor and indoor seating, and restored this historic landmark to its former glory. It remains a wildly popular brunch spot, famous for its gorgeous desert setting and sticky buns. But don’t dismiss the relaxed happy hour or a lovely evening on the patio over steak, trout amandine, or beef stroganoff. For a splurge, try the $68 flash-fried lobster bites, served with spicy chipotle lime sauce and drawn butter." - Nikki Buchanan

"An Arizona Classic For old Arizona charm, head to El Chorro Lodge, a restaurant with fantastic views of both Camelback and Mummy Mountains. Vibrant Western paintings and vintage photos bedeck the adobe clay of its stark white building, which gives off a soft warm glow during sunset. Sit on the large outdoor patio and sip on some Arizona beer, then dive headfirst into a dinner of ancho-rubbed prime steak or a chicken Cobb salad spiced up with Poblano ranch dressing."

CertAn absolutely amazing dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff was incredibly friendly and well-organized. The food quality was outstanding—everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The desserts were a delightful treat, and the drinks complemented the meal perfectly. Every bite was a testament to the attention to detail and passion that goes into their menu. It’s rare to find a place that excels in both service and quality, but this restaurant truly delivers. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to return!

Google
The food is great. The time the server took to tell us the history of the property and bringing out a dessert for my wife's birthday only added to the charm, food and friendliness.

Wonderful surprise date night. Hubby made a reservation since our son raved over the trout and sticky buns. We have to admit, food was spectacular. Service was prompt and polite, very clean, impeccable location. Cloth covered tables, wine goblets for water and tea. Iced tea was even crisp and lightly fragrant. I was pleasantly surprised at all the little touches to make the guest feel special. The wax paper under the sticky bun made the presentation even more elevated.

What a beautiful little gem. Getting into the front door with the roadrunners darting in front of us was so perfect. Staff was very, very good. We ordered and few cocktails and they were pretty, not my favorite, but they were good. We ordered the oysters(which I LOVE oysters), they came out and were HUGE(I guess I am not a fan of oysters that big) Bigger is not better in my opinion when it comes to oysters. They were very, very pretty, but too big for my liking. We then got the caesar salad which was a traditional caesar, the crispy capers were delicious. Sticky buns of course, very good. We then ordered the stuffed pork chop and holy moly that was huge as well. The demi was ok, felt a little flat. The vegetables were well cooked and seasoned well. The trout I ordered was a little over cooked. Good seasoning, but a little over done. The green beans, some were a little under cooked and some were just right. Potatoes were on point! It was an all in all a good experience and we will go back for the service and atmosphere alone. Also, we got a call the next day to thank us for dining and make sure we enjoyed ourselves. That was a really nice touch. Thanks El Chorro!

Google
One of the best brunch spots in AZ! The food service and atmosphere are phenomenal and there’s nothing like getting fresh baked sticky buns right when you sit down. Jackson took great care of us! Highly recommended!

Google
Best brunch in the valley. The setting at El Chorro is beautiful and unique. I've brought many friends here and they love it. Their various eggs Benedict are fantastic as are the huevos ranchero. Every table gets a basket of scones and their famous sticky buns. Service is always good.

Google
I haven't had Sunday brunch here since the early 90's when I moved out of state. It's lovely to discover El Chorro Lodge has not changed a bit and is still a wonderful Sunday morning experience. Sticky buns still wonderful!

The quality and service is next to none. Traditional yet modern. The scenery matches the fine cuisine.

Yelp
El Chorro truly is the full package. Beautiful views, delicious food, and a unique venue. The venue is nearly 100 years old. Nestled at the base between camelback and mummy mountain, the views are spectacular. Let me start off by saying the sticky bun thing is a nice touch. The warm and gooey sticky buns pre meal got everyone's juices flowing. The shrimp appetizer with bread was incredible. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. I ordered the short rib with polenta and squash which was home run. When I come back I will order that again.

Yelp
Outstanding birthday experience! We went for a birthday brunch! You get the choice to sit inside or on patio and we sat on patio. The staff was beyond accommodating and our waiter Joe was excellent! After you finish eating they give you a little complementary birthday cake! Such a special place , delicious food and beautiful grounds. Prices were actually quite decent for brunch. I love this place ! Made for a perfect 60th birthday experience !

Yelp
El Chorro was one of three restaurants recommended to us by a local living in the Phoenix area. Upon arrival, we were delighted to see the quaint courtyard and immediately asked to be seated outside. There was a cold spell in AZ last weekend so the heaters were a warm welcome. We started with cocktails and were impressed that they offered NA beer for one in our party. This is something more restaurants need to pay attention to and offer guests. Our appetizer selection of raw oysters, deviled eggs, and Caesar Salad were a perfect combination of flavor and presentation. The salad was not soaked with dressing, which is often the case. My daughter and I chose to share the filet special, which featured a delicate crab cake on top. It was accompanied by mashed potatoes and vegetables. It was cooked perfectly to rare plus! Her boyfriend selected beef stroganoff, which was a reminder of his childhood. This did not disappoint. The flavor of the beef and texture of the noodles made this simple dish shine. And let's not forget the hot sticky buns that were brought out at the start of the evening. They shared the perfect complement of soft and sweet. We had a hard time saving some for dessert but were glad we did! Service was excellent! This dining experience will be remembered as one of the highlights of our trip to the Phoenix area, second only to our mens 4.0 tennis team winning a national championship, which is what took us to the area and prompted this celebratory meal! As an additional note, I received a phone call two days post from a team member at El Chorro. She just wanted to follow up to inquire about our experience and if we had any input for them. This was quite impressive as I've never had that happen before.

Yelp
Vicky was a great server with a great personality. Ambiance was off the charts. I had the tamale bowl and omg it was really good. Bar drinks were delicious. I definitely recommend this place . I a native and even though this place has been around since 1937, it was my first time.

Yelp
We had a brunch reservation to sit outside on the patio. The restaurant is beautiful both inside and out. It was a little chilly in the shade, so they had heat lamps and fires going which made it super cozy. Our server was wonderful and brought us a sticky bun plate as we sat down. The sticky buns were amazing and an awesome way to start the meal. Next we ordered drinks and settled into conversation. I ordered the Sunset Drip which is effectively a Paloma with mezcal which was delicious! For brunch I ordered the breakfast hash with sunny side up eggs. I was really good and exactly what I was looking for. The pork verde was fall apart succulent and the potatoes were spiced and delicious. Overall the meal was a wonderful experience. I am excited to go back for dinner at some point.

Yelp
This place is stunning: absolutely stunning. I wish we would have eaten outside, but I was here with 7 coworkers. I'm going to speak only to my dish and service: we ordered a LOT: most was pretty delicious. Tbh the sticky bun was good and weird placement: pre salad post appetizer. I got the special, sea bass. It was...fine? The fish itself tasted a little flat, the pesto on top was bright and summery: LOVE. The cauliflower on the side was poorly roasted and more wet than roasted. The couscous was the star: cheesy and bright with the sauce. Would I go back? Not on my dime, but maybe on business? Definitely a place to impress with the mountain backdrop and cacti.

Yelp
Had Valentines dinner here last night they had a preset menu. Ambiance/setting is stunning it was dark out and the waterfalls, lights and fire pits made it feel magical. Food, bread service is what I would refer to as monkey bread it's like a big warm cinnamon roll it was FANTASTIC next time I will request this after my meal as I prefer my sweets after my savories. I got the French onion soup and loved it. We bother ordered the filet and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly to complement the crispy potatoes, asparagus and beets all delicious. I asked our server about the risotto that accompanied the salmon and he offered to bring me a side complimentary with my meal and I was so happy it was also delicious. We tried both deserts and shared they were both yummy but the bread service would have sufficed for dessert. Service was exceptional and Tye our server was very friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we got the best seats in the house and were comfortable. Will definitely return.

Yelp
My first time here was for a wedding at the venue near the back of the restaurant and I've wanted to come for dinner. The ambiance is very pretty. They're famous for their sticky buns that's almost like a cinnamon roll but less doughy and more sticky sweet (which I love). Service was great and fast. We ordered their pigs in a blanket to start and I felt like it was a bit too salty for my liking and the dough was not cooked all the way. My halibut I ordered was more on the drier side than I've ever had but my partner's short ribs were divine. I'll be back to try something different in their menu next time!

Yelp
Came here for a nice dinner with some friends. After looking over the menu, we decided to start off with the crab and tuna stack to share. The crab and tuna stack was absolutely delicious. There was a nice balance of flavors and the textures between the chips, ahi tuna, crab, and avocado worked well together. For our main entrees, we ordered pork chop milanese, grilled filet mignon, and a side of creamy mac and cheese to share. The filet mignon itself was grilled to medium rare perfection. The scalloped potatoes were good, but a bit overly salty for our tastes. The vegetables accompanying the dish were standard. For dessert we decided to order the sticky bun bread pudding and the cheesecake. The flavor of the sticky bun bread pudding as a whole was good, the sticky buns themselves were a bit on the dry side, different from what we were expecting. The cheesecake was standard. Overall, service was professional and friendly, and at no point during our meal did we feel rushed at all. The restaurant itself is quite spacious, with a classic vibe indoors. The outdoor patio seating is also quite lovely with stunning views.

Yelp
My son worked very hard to find a great brunch place for my big birthday with family and a friend. He chose it because of the lovely patio. Of course that Sunday it poured rain. We sat inside at a round table. It was very nice inside. The tables had tablecloth's which I think always dresses up a restaurant. The wait staff were great. The sweets served at each table were tasty. A few of us had the tamales and egg dish. It was a great dish even the next day. The hamburger looked delucious and the huge plate of fries were perfect. We had a few bottles of champagne snd orange juice. It was a great birthday celebration.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant. Beautiful venue, expert waitstaff, the food is excellent. I consider it a treat to eat there. It's a great experience.
google avatar

Genie G.

Yelp
Nice ambiance and attentive service. We had bone marrow, chicken liver mousse, and tuna stack for appetizers and prime rib for dinner. The food was very tasty and portions of good size. We did not get any side dishes as we did not want to pay $15 for a baked potato or $17 for mack & cheese - this seems excessive. I suggest folks order wine with dinner as cocktails were not good even though they charge $20. Good experience overall, but prices for salads, side dishes, and cocktails are unreasonable.

Yelp
If you're looking for a fantastic spring or fall outdoor seating, great food, and great service restaurant, you've got to come to El Chorro. The ambience is spectacular. The service is phenomenal. The food is fantastic! We sat at a table that was indoors, but we were welcomed by an open double door that allowed us to have the experience of the exterior patio. The selection was wonderful, and the salad was fantastic. A little pricey, but worth it. I don't give a lot of five star reviews, so you know this met the expectations of a five star.

Debbie F.

Yelp
Great food, and overpriced drinks! I am not opposed to paying for specialty food. I appreciate the hard work that goes into preparing a menu, assembling the dishes and getting them to the table hot and fresh. And the chef does a great job! So yes, $20 for a salad is fair when it's that delicious. But when I take a friend to dinner and we ask for a simple shot of a WELL alcohol, (in this case, tequila) and they charge $20 a pour, well, I won't be coming back. This is price gouging and if you want customers, that is not how to treat them! You don't need to make a thousand dollars on every bottle of alcohol. I didn't mind waiting an hour for food outside in the cold after being told the fireplace was "toasty", (it wasn't). I appreciate the shortage of staff in all restaurants, so I am patient. But I'd like to at least be able to have a drink while waiting! Going to El Choro used to be a tradition...for years! Never again. Sorry you went there, guys! I am very disappointed.

Yelp
The food, service, and ambiance were amazing here! It was my first time here tonight even though I am an Arizona native. Our waiter Phillip was wonderful! The food was delicious and I highly recommend the au gratin potatoes- they were my favorite by far! The complimentary cinnamon rolls are SO YUMMY!!!! We had a wonderful experience here and I will absolutely come back!!

Yelp
They offer elevated flavors and ambiance, a lovely patio with mountain views, and a fireplace to set a mood at dinner; making El Chorro perfect spot for dates! They mix great cocktails and offer many wines to choose from. Delicious food and desserts! Service and food is always exceptional. We have been here for a Sunday brunch and dinner. This last experience was for a wedding they catered. They were on top of everything. Food was great. The bride was a joy, but I noticed a couple of guests were very rude and demanding. All food was pre-ordered and accounted for, yet a couple of guests were still demanding special treatment. Christa was so kind and handled them so professionally. She made even the grumpy appreciative. Everyone serving did such a great job. The food was delicious. I never knew until this wedding they did catering. Every experience has been lovely.

Yelp
First rate service and food always. I really miss the happy hour which was lovely Picturesque grounds and wonderful Sunday brunch

Yelp
My friend and I had out of town guests that came in May for the weekend. We ended their trip with a wonderful Sunday Brunch on the beautiful patio of El Churro. Service and food were excellent. We indulged with the Bubble & Juice cocktail (bottle of champagne & carafe of orange juice) while enjoying the famous El Chorro Sticky Buns, Croissants & Scone. We ordered the Best of Both Worlds Eggs Benedict, Classic Burger and the Authentic Noble Bread French Toast. All the dishes came out perfectly and tasting great. Voted one of the best patio dining spots... and yes, it lives up to that vote. Atmosphere: beautiful patio dining. Service: excellent. Food: excellent.

Yelp
Upon entering the restaurant, one is immediately struck by the beautiful setting--a harmonious blend of elegance and tranquility that sets the stage for what should be a delightful dining experience. The ambiance is a perfect backdrop for the culinary journey that awaits. However, the journey takes an unexpected detour when presented with the menu. The $19 cocktails, which one would anticipate to be the highlight of the beverage selection, are underwhelming. They lack the refinement and balance that one expects at such a premium. Similarly, the sides, while presented as accompaniments, carry price tags that are nothing short of outrageous. The culinary offerings, featuring bone marrow, shrimp cocktail, shrimp linguine, short ribs, and chicken, promise a diverse and rich palette of flavors. Yet, the reality of unavailability casts a shadow over the meal. For a restaurant not bustling with patrons, the absence of several menu items is both surprising and disheartening. On a positive note, the service shines through. Attentive and courteous, the staff provides a glimmer of excellence in an otherwise lackluster experience. Their efforts are commendable and offer some consolation. In summary, while the setting may be picture-perfect and the service commendable, the exorbitant pricing and lack of menu availability lead to an experience that can only be described as disappointing. One leaves feeling that the potential for greatness is there, but the execution falls short of expectations.

K C.

Yelp
We enjoyed our evening with El Chorro. A thoughtful and attendant stuff made my birthday special. Filets were remarkably tender and very tasteful. A classic well made Wedge Salad. Plus their complementary Sticky Buns. Great wait staff and beautiful patio with plenty of heaters for cool fall and winter nights to dine outside.

Yelp
My grandparents used to bring me to El Chorro when I was a kid, and I'm still going there today. We take all of our out of town friends here for drinks and the amazing view on the patio. We've always had a great experience and look forward to going back. Food is great !! If you like Happy Hour go for the margaritas!!

Yelp
Our family celebrated Mother's Day a night early with an amazing dinner. The location with views and atmosphere is why I chose this spot. The food and drinks, though, are what truly delighted us. To start: flavorful crab and tuna tower and fried chicken livers (it was a bold choice that didn't resonate with all but fun to step out of comfort zones). Our whole party ordered something from the special menu. Chilean Sea Bass with Saffron Risotto. Filet Oscar topped with a blue crab cake and scalloped potatoes. Grass Fed Ribeye with gravy and garlic mashed potatoes. We took turns watching each other take first bites because everything was that surprisingly delicious. We were all in heaven! Then as if the famous sticky buns weren't enough we just couldn't pass up on sticky bun bread pudding! The warmth and crunch of the caramelized top combined with the cold smooth vanilla bean ice cream...wow. Dinnertime was perfect so that we started with views of the red rock mountains set against bright blue skies and finished at night in a lit up wonderland.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with fantastic seating. Our waiter was full of suggestions and was knowledgeable about the menu. Our appetizer was the lobster , lightly fried and the taste with the butter and spicy sauce was delicious. Sticky buns, oh hell yeah, interesting timing for sweets but light on the sweet and heavy on the hell yeah. Got the 7 oz filet which was cooked to perfection and delicious. Roped off the night with a sticky toffee bread pudding, fantastic. The ring of fire was tasty and the mixed green salad was good. Excellent dining experience.
google avatar

Darya S.

Yelp
In what world is completely unseasoned salmon, completely unseasoned and unsalted polenta, deep-fried and burnt chicken liver, overly salty and mushy braised beef short ribs, and unbelievably dry chocolate cake worth $140? To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We didn't finish the liver, the beef, and even the cake. Chef needs to go back to culinary school. How are you not going to use any seasoning on multiple dishes? Only good thing we had was the complimentary sticky buns.
google avatar

Yelp
First time dining at el chorro and it was a phenomenal experience. The ambiance of the outside patio is great- filled with greenery and beautiful accent lighting and misters. Definitely makes the heat of the night in summer worth it. The food was exceptional. Our server, Phillip, recommended their fresh Chilean sea bass with risotto for the night and it was truly one of the best I've ever had. The prime New York was also phenomenal cooked to perfection. Finished off with a delicious apple pie a la mode and some ice cream. Service was amazing. Our server Phillip was very professional, friendly, and attentive- everything we could ask for. Will definitely be dining here again and recommending to others.

Yelp
First time eating at El Chorro but certainly won't be the last! We went for Sunday brunch for my birthday and were able to sit outside. The restaurant inside and outside and surroundings were absolutely beautiful, peaceful and quiet. The service, especially Vicki our waitress, was top notch as she was laid back but very attentive, which is not an easy combination to pull off. Vicki was able to give us a couple recommendations and answer any questions we had. My wife LOVED her breakfast tamales and my salmon eggs benedict was incredibly delicious! We could see why there appeared to be quite a few repeat customers as the staff greeted each with a smile and food was top-notch. We will be adding to our rotation and including in any area recommendations we give out to out of town visitors!

Yelp
My friend made us a reservation for brunch one Sunday afternoon. It was a good time (1:30pm) because there were a few open tables, and we didn't have to wait. The hostess led us to a table even though just two of us arrived as we waited for the rest of our group. It is a beautiful and spacious patio with umbrellas to block direct sun, and the fall weather was enjoyable. They started us out with their complimentary sticky buns, which also includes a scone and croissant. Great way to start a meal! Some of us ordered drinks and the rest got water. Their brunch menu has a few options for breakfast and lunch dishes, and we got a variety. I ordered the Grana Padano Caesar salad and added chicken for a pricey $8, and we got truffle fries for the table which were shoestring and delicious. I enjoyed my salad, which had capers, croutons, parmesan cheese, almond slivers, and anchovy garlic Caesar dressing. My group's dishes included the breakfast tamales (avocado instead of sausage), huevos rancheros (avocado instead of chorizo), two omelettes of the day (spinach and mozzarella) and another Caesar salad no protein. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal, but there seemed to be confusion about substitutions and pricing. Although two dishes substituted avocado for the meat, we were still charged $4 each, and another $8 for tomato slices (menu lists it as $6, which is still excessive). The tomatoes were a substitution to accommodate a gluten-free diet, so it was strange to charge for it. We didn't inquire about it at the restaurant so this might be something we should have looked at before we left. Gratuity is automatically 20% for a group of 6 or more, which we were and that was expected. Our server was friendly as were the folks filling up our drinks and clearing away dishes. It was a lovely afternoon and although they closed at 2pm, we were still able to hang out until closer to 3pm which was a kind gesture by the staff.

Yelp
Came here for a work event and really liked the venue. Beautiful space and great place to bring people together. Sticky bun was alright, I can't say it was mind-blowing, but also I'm not that much a sweets person really. Food was ok, but the family style for each table made it feel more casual for me. The fish that was served was good, I probably should've eaten more of that. Overall, a good experience, great place to show guests what we have here in AZ, but will say the food was a bit underwhelming for me.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
I love the upscale Arizona lodge ambiance of this place and appreciate that the food quality is there as well. Prices are high but I would dare to say you do get what you pay for here. The iconic sticky buns to start are my favorite part (complimentary, can be served as dessert upon request). My family had the pepper shrimp hot pot with Noble Bread toasts to start, which I wouldn't have chosen on my own, but it was mind blowing good - something that I'll remember. For my main dish I considered ordering the sea bass special which was served with mascarpone orzo and a vegetable ($58), the roasted mushroom ($30), or the chopped salad ($18). I ultimately chose the chopped salad because I wasn't sure I was hungry enough to finish the sea bass dish at the high price and $30 for a mushroom was hard to wrap my head around. Fortunately my mom chose the sea bass so I was able to try a bite - it was wonderful (but it was a large piece of fish). I ended up very happy with my chopped salad - actually a vegan option; sweet potatoes, quinoa, avocado, garbanzo beans, cucumber, tomato with good dressing. The service was very friendly. I think we'll definitely be back for another special occasion in the future.

Yelp
This is in between the beautiful town of Paradise Valley and its a Hidden Gem that has a rich history in the community. Now, as for the service, I think it's great they're very attentive and try to accommodate your dietary restrictions. Food is good, but it's not 100% authentic Mexican food, so if that's what you're looking for, something that reminds you of back home this is not it but is good, so it's worth going. Ton of parking, and it's very handicap accessible

Yelp
Sad news folks. Friday night. This review applies only to the vibe. Service exceptional as always. Nobody here. 6PM. 2 folks at the bar including myself. Nobody, Zero, in the dining room. Parking lot when I arrived had about 5 cars sadly, staff? I thought they went out of business when I rolled up. Gone are the days when El Chorro had the back bar cranking apparently and those gooey sticky buns 2-go in a brown paper bag (like the really good ones). Hope nothing is wrong like they plan to build condos. I did a quick Google search and it looks like it recently sold.

Yelp
We went here for dinner last night, this is the first time we've ever been. What a beautiful property, amazing food and the service was on point. Extra special thanks to the manager there Ryan, your kindness was extremely appreciated!

Yelp
First time here for brunch and it was excellent! I really liked the outdoor seating area which was spacious and comfortable. We were seated near the fire pit which provided a nice ambiance. Our waiter was very good and made helpful recommendations. I went with his recommended best of both worlds eggs Benedict. The filet and the crab cake were both delicious but the crab cake Benedict was the winner hands down. Also really enjoyed the complimentary sticky buns (and croissant and scone), and my mimosa and coffee. My husband also really liked his breakfast tamales. Quality of ingredients was very good. I liked how the menu was small enough to be navigable but also interesting and not boring. Everything sounded good and was unique but not off putting. Definitely will come back!

Yelp
Had a really good experience here! The outdoor seating area is beautiful! I would highly recommend getting a table out there if you can. Attire wise people were in sun dresses and collared shirts. For apps, I would recommend the fried lobster! We ordered it because the wait recommended it and we loved it. I originally wasn't interested because it was fried but it was very yummy. Dinner wise, I had the special - Oscar style filet with au gratin potatoes and a red wine reduction sauce. It was delicious! I would go back and get it again. I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese and it was amazing. So creamy and flavorful!

Yelp
Its been six years since The last time I reviewed El Chorro, thoughI've been back many times. It hasn't lost a beat, it is as spectacular as ever. We had 2 fried chickens, a filet and a cauliflower steak: all wonderful. The service was spot on and the ambiance as you watch the sunset over camelback is just spectacular. Our favorite restaurant in the valley .

Yelp
El Chorro has been on my bucket list since I first moved to Arizona many years ago. I had heard about their famous sticky buns, and knew I had to give them a try. I don't know why it's taken so long, but I finally tried them for Sunday brunch recently. My friend wanted to meet for a nice lunch. El Chorro does not serve lunch but I looked online and saw that they serve brunch once a week on Sundays. I called and made a reservation for their famous patio, since the weather is so nice this time of year. The patio was indeed exquisite. Our waiter was fantastic , too. He was quite the conversationalist and made us feel very welcome. We were served a basket that had two sticky buns, a scone, and a croissant. The sticky buns were warm and all the pastries were fresh and delicious. My friend ordered the eggs benedict and I ordered the omelet special, which was a salmon and goat cheese omelet, served with potatoes, an English muffin, and a small salad. The portions were large and the prices were fair for the quality and quantity of the food that was served. The iced tea was delicious. I think I had four refills! I was so thrilled to finally try El Chorro. It has a long and storied history in Paradise Valley. I plan to return again soon.

Yelp
The team at El Chorro really made Mother's Day a great day. It was busy and they still made a huge effort to get us a comfortable table. Their whole patio is amazing, but it was toasty by the afternoon and they did a great job of cooling it off, thank you so much!! Our waiter was also spot on, and friendly, the best. The food was so good. The chilled potato and leek soup was perfect, even our picky toddler was digging it. I had the crab cake and filet eggs benedict, which was rich and delicious. The eggs were perfect and I could eat 10 of those crab cakes. Lol At this point I was already stuffed, but the desserts came out...yum!! The mini desserts were excellent. Best fruit tart I think I've ever had, that crust was so thin and delicate. Not to mention starting with those epic sticky buns and bakery basket. Thank you for making Mother's Day a great day. Everyone had a wonderful time.

Yelp
Scenic views and lovely outdoor patio dining location. Love the views of Camelback mountain while enjoying Sunday brunch at El Chorro. Ordered the best of both world egg Benedict, which includes a steak Beni and an crab cake Beni.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE playing violin for ceremonies at El Chorro! This venue has a seriously breathtaking view as the couple say their I Do's with tons of space and lots of greenery. The cocktail hour is perfect for a musician to set up as well. Love it here. Staff is always great and venue is absolutely gorgeous.

Yelp
I wish I could post two reviews-- one for dinner, which would be 5 stars, and one for brunch, which inevitably has to be two. Dinner at El Chorro is a great experience. Delicious food, impressive cocktails, extensive wine list, excellent waitstaff, romantic ambience, etc. All that said, I was really looking forward to my brunch reservation. Quite surprisingly, it was not a good experience. Had brunch been my first time attending El Chorro, I'd not plan on returning to try dinner. I'll keep it simple-- the brunch service waitstaff was unpolished and the food was disappointing. I ordered the best of both worlds benedict, and all of it was cold and tough, with the exception of the hot potatoes, which I assume were the reason the dish was held from coming out timely. My husband had potatoes on his plate as well, so he had the same experience. We also had the green chile pork appetizer brought to the table with the main course, and that too was like a bowl of cold soup. Very disappointing and I would not return here for brunch again.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is a throwback to the old "Classic Arizona"... at least that what I think. For me, growing up back east and seeing Arizona on the big screen or even when I made the move here some XYZ years ago, this place is classy and carries a bit of nostalgia for me. I've been here multiple times for weddings and events more than I have for dinner, but I got the best of both worlds here on my last trip. The staff was extremely helpful with service and my cocktails at the bar were great. The sticky buns are a must-have even if you're just going for drinks at the bar. I would highly recommend for business dinners as the outside atmosphere is relaxing and gives a great "valley of the sun" vibe. Set between the mountains, it's a great place for visiting friends & coworkers.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place! Beautiful surroundings, AMAZING food, impeccable service. It's a little pricey, but worth the money for a special event. We'll be back!

Yelp
This review has been a long time coming. My fiancé and I had our birthdays one day apart so we wanted to celebrate with my parents in town with a fancy dinner on a Saturday night. When we got there, we noticed that there were three different wedding receptions on the premises. We had a reservation and we're seated right away. The start of our meal was delicious. We opted to start with the shrimp pepper pot (which came with some delicious crusty bread to dip in the buttery, savory broth). My dad and fiancé also enjoyed the crispy chicken livers. I tried one and was actually pleasantly surprised by how good they were. Then before the main course, we were greeted by a sticky bun basket. The sticky buns were warm, gooey, and the perfect sweet treat before our main dishes. For my main, I ordered the grill filet mignon. I am not a huge beef eater in general but for a fancy dinner, I like a steak. This is where things took a turn. I ordered my steak medium, which generally means the meat had a warm pink center. When I cut into my steak, blood rushed out and it was pretty rare in the center. I am usually not one to send anything back because I hate inconveniencing people, but I really couldn't eat it. I sent it back for them to cook it a bit more. They brought it back and it was still rare in the center. I wasn't going to send it back a second time, but our lovely waitress was walking by when I cut into it and noticed that it still didn't look right. By the time my steak came back the 3rd time, it was well done. The manager came by the table and apologized for the steak - told us that he was going to send me home with a new steak given my steak was pretty much inedible in the restaurant. He also mentioned that they would waive the entire entree as well given the inconvenience. My fiancé loved his salmon and the rest of my family enjoyed their entrees! We also got a little birthday treat that we all shared. I was definitely disappointed by my food. My dad got the check to treat us for our birthdays but he didn't let me know that my steak was still on the bill until we had all left :/ I am still giving three stars because I do think this restaurant has great food, but I would just be wary of coming on a Friday or Saturday night when there are many wedding receptions going on. I would just also hope that the restaurant learns from this and in the future, doesn't over-commit to wedding receptions so much that their regular restaurant patrons are not taken care of.

Yelp
Wow! The Best of Both Worlds Eggs Benedict was one of my favorite entrees I've ever had for brunch. The petite filet was cooked just perfectly and I equally enjoyed the crab cake. El Chorro has a very charming aesthetic. Definitely a great spot to bring friends, family, or go for a date! Had great service and also enjoyed the complimentary chocolate cake for my birthday.

Yelp
It was a such a great experience we had at El Chorro. While we were not at the restaurant and we're at a catered event there, the staff and management were very helpful and attentive. Our drinks were always refreshed and the gentlemen at the open bar were quick and professional. The food was southwestern style. The tacos were delicious. Tamales were a bit bland. Spanish rice was tasty and the churros of course were Divine. I am planning on coming back to the restaurant to check the menu out.
