Tapas, paella, flamenco shows, and live music nights

"This 90-year-old Silver Lake landmark has been everything from a jail-themed speakeasy to a community theater, but is now a bonafide supper club where you can make a night of it with dinner and a show (did someone say Flamenco?). Even if that’s not your vibe, El Cid is still one of the best places to grab a drink and lounge outside with the crew. The massive patio is always welcoming, and never gets so crowded you want to die (or just go home)." - brant cox, nikko duren
"A classic spot on Sunset Blvd., this music and dance venue in Silver Lake has reopened their back patio for drinking and dining. The menu is all bar food - chicken wings, nachos, and an Impossible burger - which is ideal for eating alongside their super-strong margaritas. They’re requiring patrons to wear masks at all times when not dining, and highly recommend making reservations. For more information, check out their Instagram." - brett keating
"Old-school El Cid is still unknown to many, and that’s what makes it special. Walk through the standalone doorframe right along Sunset, then down a steep staircase, and you’ll pop out on a patio you’ll never want to leave. With two separate levels and black-and-white movies projected on the walls, this place works well for a quick nightcap after a date. There’s also a proscenium theater inside with a dinner-and-a-show setup that runs every Saturday and Sunday night, plus decent enough Spanish food to keep your friend group happy. Once the show is over, grab another cocktail from the bar and take the party outside." - brant cox, arden shore, sylvio martins, cathy park

"From the outside, El Cid appears as just a random door frame along Sunset Blvd. But walk down the staircase and you’ll find yourself in a hidden dinner theater featuring weekly live music and professional flamenco shows. The dinner-and-a-show setup runs Saturday nights, with solid-enough Spanish food that will keep everybody in your group happy. Once the show is over, grab a cocktail from the bar, and take it outside to one of our favorite patios in the city." - brant cox, sylvio martins
