El Club Allard

"For those unfamiliar with the cuisine of Martín Berasategui, this restaurant occupying a Modernist building (dating back to 1914) next to the renovated Plaza de España provides an opportunity to experience the inherent quality of his dishes in a highly exclusive setting. El Club Allard’s latest and eponymous gastronomic venture is showcased on two tasting menus: “10 Momentos”, highlighting the essence of this San Sebastián-born chef; and “14 Momentos”, on which his imprint combines with the personality of the young but experienced chef at the helm, José María Goñi. The latter continues to respect Berasategui’s style while demonstrating his own personality and incorporating gentle influences from elsewhere (his past cooking experience includes time spent in Indonesia). Standout dishes include the delicious crab-filled Dim Sum, the “ensalada tibia” (a classic dish that has been taken to a new level with the addition of shellfish), and the wild sea bass with beetroot, broccoli and beurre blanc." - Michelin Inspector

Just a perfect restaurant for a degustation. Firstly, the staff here are excellent. They know the food and the wines backwards. Secondly, the restaurant is in one of the most beautiful buildings in Madrid and the restaurant itself is fitted out perfectly. Thirdly, the food is exceptional. Favourites on the night were the bacalao, the vegetables with parsley foam and the dehydrated cheese dessert. Finally, the wine pairings work extraordinarily well. This place is a must-do when in Madrid.

I had dinner with a group of friends here (nine people total) with a reservation. We all had the 12 course pre fixe menu and everything was delicious. While this place is not cheap, I thought that the prices for the quality provided was actually impressively reasonable. Don’t expect to finish dinner quickly - it took us nearly three hours to get through the 12 courses.

Given the price and the amount of awards I was quite disappointed not only with the taste of the food but also with the service. We had the menu accompanied with the wine menu as well. This consisted nine courses and also nine glasses of wine to accompany each course. Though the entire meal took around 4 hours we still found it quite rushed. Courses came whilst we had still not completed the wine from the previous course, ending up with some of us having two or three glasses in front of us. The wines themselves were good. But we did not feel they were properly matched to the food, therefore not making the most of either. The food, though looking nice was a little tasteless and we were under impressed. The service was also a little behind expectation but reasonable and staff were friendly. Overall though at this price point in Spain I would have expected a little more wow.

We had a fabulous evening, 12 courses with wine pairings (not just wine either). Absolutely phenomenal.

We had our company dinner there. Great experience for Michelin stars restaurant. All the service of sommelier, waiters and chefs were exceptional, creating an unforgettable culinary experience. The preparation of every dish of the 13th courses menu was done in front of us. Each one of them was coming with carefully chosen wine to boost the taste. The dessert was done with liquid nitrogen at -200C. And we were able to check out the kitchen where 30 chefs are working for this experience.

A wonderful experience all around. Chef Jose and his team have done a fabulous job. The Michelin star is well deserved. Our favorite dishes were the sea bass and the dishes featuring Iberian ham. We’ve eaten at a few other Michelin star restaurants in Madrid and the dishes at Club Allard stood out. As an American it was also a plus that the servers spoke good English. We will be back.

A fantastic experience! First off, the staff is professional and friendly at the same time. Moreover, the location is extremely curated and full of works of art. Finally, the dishes are a great mix of Spanish and other cuisines. Particularly appreciated the Italian influence.

El Club Allard is an elegant restaurant in Madrid that's fairly popular for its Spanish haute cuisine. We made reservations well ahead of our trip, and arrived early for lunch for a meal that differed from our typical tapas fare. In our past experience, wWe had the Rendezvous Menu which consisted of 10 unique dishes inspired by international flavours. I was a bit disappointed to miss out on the fish bowl but the imaginative edible cards, fish soup in beer glass, hibiscus flower and liquid N2 made for interesting presentations. Pork shoulder was crispy and succulent, sea bass fillet was fresh, and squid risotto was filled with ocean flavours. All were plated stunningly with the attention to detail expected of a high-end restaurant. The chef definitely cared for the guests' experience. The restaurant was worthy of its retained two Michelin stars. Everything from food to service and ambience was refined, and we were well taken care of if not blown away by the interesting flavours.
