This place is a hidden gem. I've been going here since I was a little child and it's always been the same owner. The place needs a complete remodel and could use a deep cleaning. BUT the food is always acceptable and consistent. They always open really early so it's great for those early before-work sandwiches on the go.

The cashier was nice . The appearance of the place was not pretty. The rice and empanadas could be better. The acapurias were good. It's a Cuban restaurant not a Puerto Rican restaurant

Google
Place is trash I called Sunday at 5:00pm and asked what time are you closing today the female that answered said we close at8:00 tonight so I go at 7:30 to pick up some dinner for my whole family and I get there the door is locked and the girl behind the counter says we’re closed F this place so we had Chinese food what a disappointment but rest assured I won’t be back and don’t think you can’t go out of business there’s plenty of other restaurants on east Main Street in Bridgeport for example the one right next door has excellent food which will be my go to from now on when I want Spanish food.

Google
So I went to this place on a Sunday afternoon. No other people came in to buy. There were no tables/chairs to dine in. Place looked badly neglected. The ONLY meal that was ok as the Cuban Sandwich. I'm not sure if Covid deteriorated the venue or if there was a change in management/owner. Unless the place is cleaned, I have no intentions on visiting this venue again.

Yelp
Tonight is my first Yelp review of 2025, believe it or not! Holidays were expensive, and the New Year's holiday in particular tends to bombard me with bills, so money's been real tight. Anywho, this is a place I have been meaning to go to after I had seen this on my Activity Feed, thinking I had recognized where this was. It turned out not to be, but it was on the cusp of a route I used to walk whenever I would wait for my train back to Waterbury. For the exact place I had recognized from my walks, that was actually the El Coquito restaurant down the street at 510. So back to this place, and yeah, I did NOT have high hopes for this takeout joint! I will say that this is a cheap place to get food as my bill came out to $14.84 for a decent amount of food. This harkens back to the Jamaican food joint over in Norwalk I had reviewed a few months back. Employee was fine too, nothing to complain about. I mostly needed her to explain what everything was before I could order. Now the ambiance of the place and how it looks going inside leaves a lot to be desired. From the outside, it looks a bit run-down and one could easily write this off as a closed establishment. I actually had to peep into another window they had to confirm whether or not it was actually open. Also, you don't really see a menu for what this has, so you do need to communicate with the employees to make sure you know what you're ordering before you get it. This made ordering my food a challenge. I ended up getting the pork and chicken kebab things and then these beef and cheese hot dogs wrapped around in a pastry. I also got some white rice to go along with it because I needed to know if maybe their rice was better than what I had over at that aforementioned Norwalk joint. The hot dogs were actually decent. The snap could have been better, but you can definitely taste that you are eating a hot dog with cheese, albeit the cheese might be a bit harder to detect. As for the kebabs, I had seen mine get reheated in a microwave, so if that's not your thing, this place ain't for you. Then again, it was quite cold outside, so maybe that evens it out? I don't know, but what I DO know is that neither one was really that good. The pork one was better, but that didn't say much. The barbecue sauce on the pork did have a bit of a kick to it, but other than that it was a slight bit bland. As for the chicken, it was dry, and the sauce managed to be even more tasteless! Didn't even have the slight kick of the pork ones. I would probably rate this a 2.5, but unless the white rice is good I can't see myself giving this a 3. Two Hours Later... Now that I have gotten my taste of the white rice, it is time to finish the review! So this time around, I have found the rice to actually be edible here! There is a bit of a salty finish to it, but I can live with that. I tend to find that white rice plays just fine in its barest form. It's what can be added on it that can ruin the rice, so it was nice to have it separate from everything else. A 2.5 is really what this should get, and that's what I would give it if half-stars were a thing. As it stands, I would agree with your rating if you were to give it a 2 or a 3 because it really can go either way from there. EDIT: Upon further review of the white rice, I've been thinking about my rating here. Maybe keeping this at 2 stars was a bit harsh on my end. It's definitely still more of a 2 and a half, but I do feel like everything considered it was good enough to skate by with a 3, so I am updating my rating as such. It's still kind old a war between the two ratings though, so maybe I need to try some different things from here before a winner emerges.

Yelp
Stopped by here on my way down East Main Street, after picking my man up from the train station. My daughter requested it specifically for their papa de relleno aka "potato balls" After all the years I've lived around Bridgeport, I never stopped in, until now, because it looks a bit trashy. There's no dine-in area. The lighting is dark in a gloomy way. The ambiance is overall sad. We decided to try their baked whole chicken, yellow rice & beans, and platano maduros (sweet plantain). The potato ball looked crispy but it was actually pretty soft. I felt like it could have been meatier with more flavor, I had better. I don't know why this was hyped up. When I opened the container and saw only 5 pieces of plátanos, I thought it was a joke. Never have I been served such a small portion. The rice was a bit mushy, surprisingly coming from a Puerto Rican spot in this area. Even the chicken was kinda weird. I don't care if my daughter asks for this again, I'm not coming back!

Yelp
Great yuca alcapurrias, best in town IMHO. I wish they were open later. Prices is pretty good at $2 a piece.

Yelp
I had the yellow rice and chicken empanadas. The restaurant is Cuban with a a few Puerto Rican food. I would say that the Puerto Rican food i purchases could have tasted alot better. I would not purchase food from here again. The employee was verry kind though.

Yelp
The Food here is delicious! From breakfast sandwiches to cuchhifrito and now pupusas! All I can say is yummmmmmmmm. As a California girl, every time I come to the East Coast first thing I eat when a get to NY and CT is eat cuchifrito! This place is my go to in CT. The service here is great! Friendly staff and home made taste. The ambience is good. It would be better if there was a place to sit. It's carry out only. If you are looking for a delicious cuchifrito, or breakfast sandwich or even a pupusa, this is the place. The prices are very very reasonable. Love this place. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Used to love this place. Ate here for 2 years. Dollar flat ham and cheese and surullitos de maize con queso and a coffee...delicious. One day I had the soup on a hot day in June.... must've been the heat and bacteria from the food being exposed buffet style.....I ended up with food poisoning. Recovery was 3 weeks. Dropped 17lbs. I mean great plan for weight loss, but not the way I'd want to. Wouldn't want to go through it again. Not as clean as they should be. Miss them dearly but too afraid to go back.

Yelp
They don't always cook with fresh meat. Bought pork chops today and they looked pink in the inside and the smell was awful

Yelp
This restaurant doesn't even deserve a star. The food sucks. Went in and ordered yellow rice and received rice that wasn't even fully cooked. The rice was completely soggy. Not to mention they allow people in without masks during a pandemic. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE !!!!

Yelp
The restaurant closes before the advertised time to customers listed. I called to place an order for pick up and someone at the restaurant took my order. After driving across town, I get to the restaurant to a sign lit up saying OPEN but the gates down on the restaurant. And get this...when I called the restaurant, a woman answered and said they were open. She continued by putting me on hold then came back on the phone to say "No, we're closed and tell me that no one took my order". I was highly upset and disgusted by such horrible customer service. Who closes 30 minutes earlier than the normal restaurant posted closed time? --Slow day or possibly restaurants that make their own hours? Thankfully I was able to take my service and money elsewhere for better food down the street where they were very helpful!

Yelp
The look of this place does not give a good first impression. But if your looking for GREAT spanish food, then this is the place to go. They have so many customers that the food is always being replenished. There are many choices for your take-out or dining in experience. Rice, beans, pork, chicken, plantains, Cuban sanwiches, etc. I love the empanadillas. They offer a variety, which include beef, chicken or pizza for only $1.25. Not to mention the regino de papa...yum!

Yelp
No matter what you say about this place it delivers good greasy Puerto Rican dishes. Verify you bill, the staff lacks serious adding skills. But if your seeking blood sausage, alcapurrias, rice and beans, Cuban sandwiches, pork, and barbeque chicken it's done well. Whole in the wall with loyal following.
