Hands-down the best Mexican style seafood restaurant in the state! The menu is extensive, full of classics as well as new and unique dishes. The service was excellent, the atmosphere is better than expected (granted, it’s not fancy and modern, but it’s clean and cheery -call it a simple family restaurant facility). Happy Hour offered great drink specials! We will be back! Sorry for the lack of pictures, we couldn’t wait to eat a couple dishes.

I ordered the volcano and the aguachilies for delivery. When I got my order, the volcan I got was only a half order, and with the aguachilies I ordered I only got 7 pieces of shrimp. (I know how the portions look since I’ve eaten at the restaurant a few times in the past) I paid around 50-60 dollars for my order and received this. I didn’t get what i paid for. I was waiting for a call back from the manager to fix this issue as I’m from out of state and never got a call. I called 2 times and was told to wait for a call back; never got one.

Good Mexican seafood. Ordered the coconut drink without alcohol and it arrived with alcohol and they remade it without. The oysters smelled fishy but didn’t get sick eating them. I feel like In Colorado you don’t get fresh seafood but that’s understandable. The place is really cool as they have a ton of food options. They had a younger band playing while we ate and that was cool. The drink menu is really cool as well. The only thing is the music is really loud.

I recommend this restaurant! The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Definitely coming back. Thank you all!

Definitely not your run of the mill Mexican restaurant! This is the real deal experience. My friends and I were the only gringos in the place and we savored our Mexican hotpot style dishes, and bomb as hell Mexican sushi rolls. The place was packed and eating here just one time will show you why. The flavors are coming in potent, unexpected yet complimentary. Definitely taking other people here soon

Excellent food. I've never had sushi like this before. It was very unique. These were the best micheladas I've ever had. It is a bit on the expensive side but still well worth it. I will be returning.

The food is so good!! Sunday's get really busy but the food is worth the wait! The sushi good, try the fried Calamar. Bring your appetite and split a six pack with a friend or two and you get your beer of choice between 3 choices. Tried the aguachile sushi and will try the Jefé or Coco pirata next time. (Or both!)

The bathrooms are actually so nasty I could you not they leak literal the bathrooms had no toilet paper at all super disgusting I don't know how people still come here .

This place has become one of my favorite date night spots with the hubby! I love the food and the drinks here! I typically get the same thing every time, but my husband gets something different and I eat some of his food too! The service has been great all three times I've gone, and let me tell you- the ambiance I always want to go somewhere else to go dancing afterwards because it's such a vibe here and there isn't a dance floor.

realize un pedido para llevar y siempre terminan poniendo el pedido mal, pedí dos sushi sin alga y los dos tienen! pedí salga anguila para ambos sushi y no pusieron, quizá el servicio sea bueno en el restaurante pero no para to go orders!!

This is one of my MUST stop by places to whenever I'm in Denver. I've tried a good amount of items on the menu and everything was pretty damn good! Aguachiles... GOOD! Camarones Roca... BOMB! Ceviche with Mango... TASTY! Only thing that I wasn't too thrilled about, were the shrimp tacos, they were EH.

Food was absolutely delicious! Candy shots are the best we've ever had. Plan on drinking there, take a Lyft . Can also have mariachi's play.

Estoy de acuerdo que haigan subido los precios , pero que la cantidad y calidad se quede igual. El pasado miércoles fui a coco pirata , y me dieron las botanas muy chicas a comparado a antes , me dieron el cayo de acha partido en 4 piezas pero antes ponían el callo entero , no se me hace justo que haigan cortado la porción de la comida , aparte las bebidas fueron preparadas por alguien que no sabía hacerlas , yo no tengo problema en pagar , mi problema es en la cantidad y calidad de comida que estoy recibiendo. Please si van a subir los precios sigan con el mismo servicio de antes sin importar que día de la semana sea, o quien es el cliente.

The Aguachile Mazatlan tasted off like the shrimp wasn't fresh had grimy texture. The service style is ridiculous and not convenient at all. Once they take your order you can not change what you ordered because they send it off to the kitchen immediately electronically and apparently it's your problem if you decide you change your mind on what you want even if it's two minutes after you placed your order. Also very crowded for a place that wants to have live music lol very poorly planned restaurant that gets by on its Hispanic customers that feel at home because all the wait staff speaks Spanish. No standards other than kind waiters

Regarding the lounge it's boring no one dances, ima blame the guest and the ambient they set ,. It's not a happy one -no ay ambiente no ay gozo . Los clientes no reaccionan .

I think I came here mostly out of curiosity and not knowing what to expect. I somehow ended up ordered a roll and a something else that was basically the same ingredients in a different form. Don't expect your typical sushi here, there were many rolls with chicken, steak and bacon! Everything seem heavy on the rice though. The margarita bucket had lots of sugar and low on tequila. The ceviche plates are HUGE, basically a meal or appetizer for 6 people. Overall I think I would like to try other things, the hot menu items looked the best when they came out. Be prepared for various people to come up to your table selling flowers, candy, etc. it's definitely an interesting spot in town but I can't say the food is worth the price.

Espera de un plato de mar es mínimo 50 minutos! 3. Súper salada toda la comida! 4. Me salió un pelo pequeño risado súper NEGRO HORRIBLE en la comida. Súper asqueroso y no pueden ni pedir disculpas! 5. Meseras son coquetas con los hombres casados. 6. Las cervezas salen azorrilladas Y bueno podría continuar con la lista pero allí les he ahorrado un poco de su tiempo y dinero. Así que les doy una lista, de verdad la peor experiencia que he tenido en mucho tiempo. De verdad no vayan!

food is good but the service is horrible they don't care about you because they know they are getting a tip no matter what for a service they suck at an tip they make u pay "gratuity " they care more about the people in the back in the lounge they have. I paid $25 in tip for something they did do I don't care about the tip but I think u have to do your job In order to charge for something Pésimo servicio te dan buena comida pero hay veses que tiene sabor hay veses que no. Siempre que tienen el lounge abierto y hay grupos atrás todos los meseros te descuidan y su prioridad es ayudar oh andar atrás en el lounge pero bien que te cobran el tip en tu cuenta por el servicio que no te dieron no estám alpendinte si ocupas algo se tardan en llevarte tu orden y mi enojo es que si van a cobrar tip que al menos agas su trabajo no de a gratis

You walk in and are immediately greeted by the awesome wait staff in Spanish. We instantly felt like we were in Mexico. This is not a place you come for a quick bite. It's 100% about the authentic Mexican experience. We got the buckets of margaritas that are fantastic and strong. We also got the camarón roco y camarón hawaiano. Both were great. It did take a while for the food to come out but again that is the experience and culture of the place. Daniel was great and we had a fun time. The food was awesome. We will be back !

It was very dirty even during a slow day. The rice was great. The seafood was old, and so was the vegetables when eating a campechana and a fish tostada. It was not a great experience!

Good atmosphere, good experience for first time curiosity. Waitress apologized for her English. Have a four those reasons. Food was okay but couldn't really communicate about what's popular and drink order was incorrect but overall I would try there again.

I ordered a bacon wrapped filet and the bacon wasn't cooked at all straight raw bacon with pre cooked shrimp inside. Definitely won't be coming back here again!!!!

We are visiting Denver for a work convention, but the Mexican in us always wants to venture out Into the Mexican community and find hidden gems. Well let me tell you that Coco Pirata did not disappoint, it was everything we expected and literally went above our expectations! The service was amazing, it was Sunday lunch so they were kind of busy but we didn't wait more than 2 minutes to be seated. There's so many great options, and it wasn't a case of ordering the wrong thing, but about deciding on what would be the highlight of this meal. We got the volcán roll, which was amazing with the Serrano soy sauce on the side, and the Mango ceviche with tostadas on the side. The ambience was great! The music was amazing! We were surprised that the restaurant manager and owner both took the time to go table by table checking on everyone's order and get service feedback. Definitely going back on our next Denver trip.

I had a very unpleasant and disrespectful message from the owner. Because of a review that I left that was honest he de used to attack. Very unprofessional for a business owner, says a lot about the company and how they will treat you.

I had the shrimp cocktail, my husband had Gobernador de Camaron.. both very good! Good variety of options for kids. Many Gluten Free options!!! Food was great! Service was great! The manager Gilbert served us. He sad very friendly and accommodating.. we will definitely come back when we are in Denver again!

9/16/2018- Worst customer service experience coming from a one time successful restaurant owner who dislikes negative reviews. To get our beverages it took a while to begin with. Then when we placed our orders where we waiyed for a while again. We were about to leave and pay for our beverages when our order showed up. We asked for our bill before we finished our meal to try and avoid further delays. At this point we were not surprised with delays that I got up and went to the register and asked for my bill and saw our waitress serving other tables. Guess she forgot about us again.

So far this is the worse place to eat shrimp cocktail;we ordered take out when we got home we start to open the containers and taste are food we noticed something it wasn't good first small amount of shrimp un slices of a avocado no taste no flavor no lime. 4 crackers not enough ingredients taste.like water even feel like the shrimp it wasn't cooked properly ..my friend noticed that and she is from the cost of mexico and she didn't like I don't recommend it this happened 10 /21/21

There food here is great, I have visited a few times. Me gusto todo! I ordered a ceviche de camaron-- plus it was a huge bowl. The camarones a la diabla were delicious I did think they would be a little spicier, they were still deliciously put in some sort of chipotle cream. My partner tried the sushi a couple of times and he said he would come back for more. All in all I (we)have had great experiences here, the only reason for four stars is the service every time we get done with our food there is never any communication, if we are to go up and pay or if our server was coming back with the check, so we stay waiting there. This was very confusing our first time here, we stayed sitting a good 20min. Before we went up because no one checked on us.

Came in for a friend's birthday and the waitress was great! Ordered the el Jefe roll and a Blue Hawaiian drink that was pretty delicious. They make you look up the menu on your phone like everywhere these days. It is so hard to read especially the drink menu. We all got a shot and were charged an extreme amount. The waitress didn't even ask us if we wanted our check split. They definitely need to work on having large parties in and having policies. They charged us all together so they could include tip. They did also give our friend a birthday shot and play music when we were singing.

Don't assume anything from the outside, the clamatos are worth it. I tried the Verde Aguachile (from a Yelp review) and it was quite good (if you like shrimp of course). The waitress was very friendly and attentive. A little bit pricey for the place though. For what it is (the place isn't in great conditions but the food is tasty and authentic) it's a 4 stars!

Aguachile is always the first thing I want to get when I go to Mexico. I crave it as soon as it starts to get hot and now I know where to get a REALLY great one when the mood strikes. This has probably been the most delicious agauchile I've had in the states especially impressive that it's in land locked Colorado!!

Honestly, I was excited to try the food here but after the experience I had tonight I am never setting foot back inside this place, I am a very patient person specially knowing a business like this could get busy but come on! we were not even acknowledged stood there for about 10 mins. without anyone saying anything to us about a wait list, nothing. It's just wrong not to greet someone when they're there to give you business.

This place was so good! Great service and the banda was playing while we ate. Definitely recommend it.

We have driven by this place and felt like having seafood. Not only did we feel like seafood we also felt like having Mexican. This was the perfect combination of both they had pretty decent kids choices. And lots of other choices for the adults including shrimp fish and other seafood. It was pretty fresh. My has been really liked the red Molcajete de mariscos. I liked the green one. It had some chile peppers and cheese. My husbands red was more brothy. The peel and eat shrimp was delicious. It was served with cucumbers and red onion. Service was pretty awesome. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. They have a duo of musicians that were playing Mexican music. One had a guitar and the other an accordion. A few venders came in too but were polite. The margarita bucket was pretty good. It was big two people could share. All in all our experience there was great my husband and I will definitely return. The menus are in Spanish with a few pictures. If you want to try an authentic Mexican seafood place this is the place. Majority of the clientele are Hispanic.

OMG!!!! Don't go to this place. Don't waste your money and put in risk your health. This food got me sick for two days I have to missed work because the severe vomiting and diarrhea. I'm not coming back and I'm not going to recommend it with friends. Thank God I don't have to go the hospital. No Recommend, raw food served. No way!!!! This place has to close soon.

If I could give a negative star I would. Our server brought us our Micheladas when our food came out. (We waited 40 min). When our server was taking our order she was looking everywhere else but us. She had to come back twice to check what we ordered. When our appetizer finally came out it was the wrong food and it was $10 more than what we ordered which we weren't made aware of.

Ahoy there mateys! I'm about to raise your mizzens and shiver your timbers by telling you about a hotspot in town for Mexican sushi. Oh, you didn't know that existed eh? Well then, I guess this is as good a time as any to regale you with the joys of El Coco Pirata. No really, you didn't mishear me just now. Northwestern Mexican states like Sinaloa and Sonora have enjoyed their own twist on sushi preparations for ages. As you may have surmised, these are a bit different from the more "typical" sushi you may be familiar with. The rolls tend to have the seaweed on the inside, in the style commonly labeled Uramaki ("inside-out") in Japanese. Accompaniments may include mouthwatering crab or carrot salad, whole yellow Güero peppers, or a citrusy soy sauce which may remind you of Ponzu from Japan (or indeed, Finadene from Guam), rather than pink ginger or wasabi. And the roll (yes, rolls are the most popular style) ingredients themselves are bold, bracing, and brassy, and often include grilled meats, fruit, and generous lashings of "el Filadelfia" - yep, you guessed it, I mean cream cheese - before a generous dunk (sssssss!) in the deep-fryer. Well, now that I've filled you in, here are some of the roll delights you can expect to find at The Pirate Coconut on Alameda/Irving. I myself love the 3 Quesos packed with chicken and bacon (besides the cheeses of course) but for a meal fit for a Vaquero you really can't go wrong with the Arrachera and its juicy flank steak either. The Mixto Tropical is stuffed with kiwi, mango, strawberry and shrimp, then finished with zippy raspberry vinegar and a splash of eel sauce, while the Almendrado gives you surimi and avocado liberally sprinkled with chopped almonds. Don't forget a little sauce from the tableside Salsa Sinaloa range to really perk things up - but yes, these can be "muy caliente" so take care. There are non-sushi items at El Coco too, like a whole seafood-stuffed pineapple and the very Sinaloan pork-and-egg fryup called Chilorio con Huevo. But I'm betting your first roll won't be your last.

drinks always take for ever to come out and so does the food. the molcajete marinero is extremely unflavored just tomato and water not even salt. food is very mediocre and expensive.

No organization, they are so busy the waitress' dont pay attention, too crowded and they have live music which is fine but too loud for my taste. The michelada my husband ordered had jerky (which they forgot to put in it) and was too spicy and the coconut shrimp was way too sweet. They did not come to see if we needed anything since we were a party of 2 and there were bigger parties to attend.

Horrible service it took over an hour to get two sushi's. 20 minutes so my wife could get a straw definitely won't go back!

Wait time over an hour. Everyone that got there after us got their food before us. My chicken was raw so I had to wait for a new plate to come out. First and last time coming here.

i loved this place so much. the food did take a little while to come out but it was really worth the wait. Their horchatas are ASTOUNDING. i will definitely be coming back to this place.

Very good place we've been coming here for awhile now. The Arrachera Sushi is amazing. The Green Aguachiles are always on point. Customer service is always amazing. Idk what all the bad reviews come from. Definitely a place to check out for good mariscos.

Cant believe I came to this place to eat one of the worst decisions I've made in a while came here to eat and the caldo I got wasn't good plus they tried to charge me for a face mask we didn't even get from there and super expensive for the quality of food don't come here for mariscos

This place sucks we came from Dallas to visit Denver and decided to try to place but the wait staff did not do a great job... she didn't come to our table but to take our order and then they brought our food at separate times then automatically added the tip to our check of $23 she did not deserve that amount I don't mind paying that much if the service was great but it wasn't And the food taste old and nasty, never again will we be going back to that restaurant... if I could I wouldn't even give it 1 star ...

This place has the shittiest customer service and waiting staff ever. I called to place and order and she said " Can you call back in two minutes? " They're food is good but the wait to get a table is always 60 minutes or more and if you try to order by phone the phone just keeps ringing. It's not worth the wait. Hire more staff ! You just renovated your location. You can obviously afford to hire more friendly employees until then I'll take my business else where.

One word AGUACHILE AGUACHILE AGUACHILE!! Aguachile divorciados to be specific. Honestly the only thing I've ordered off the menu for myself because they are delicious every single time and I like consistency. I've tried a lot of my friend's dishes which have always been really good too. Just not enough to make me switch it up from my tried and true. Service can be hit or miss and it gets super packed on weekends but worth the wait.

I had a wonderful experience at their Commerce City location that it made me want to come back. At the moment I was in the Denver area and made a to go order. I placed the order at 8:00pm and told me it would be 30 minutes and ended up waiting 1 hour. Ridiculous timing and the food was horrible. The Dragon Rolls were so dry.

I went to go visit Denver for the first time and was craving sea food so I tried this place out. Hands down, probably the best sea food I tasted out there! The customer service was also spot on.

Gees thought my review was going to be bad but the other reviewers kinda force me to be creative and whine about other things, first off many seem like a bunch of foodies that think they know better and expect to be treated like royalty on a beggars budget, most complainers are worst tippers to start out. Anyways on to an actual review and comparison its my first time here ive visited the Greeley location a few times. I recommended the Geeley location to family and they agreed the portions are huge but said the food was better here. It was a nephew that seems to lean towards foodie groupie mentality, while i have to agree the atmosphere is nice, guess because it was recently renovated; the portions and flavor are not quite like the other location. The service was not bad but not great in comparison. For comparison of portion I was full with same dish at other location but this Molcajete marino was not as packed and did not have as much variety as other location. Flavor was similar but had to fix to my liking and I still didnt find it as flavorful. If you know what to expect of one of these locations then you know what to expect and what not to whine about. You know big selling point of these locations or style of restaurant is live music, if thats not your thing avoid going on weekends or late and stick to other bland overpriced chains. While i dont like crowds but can appreciate musical talent I try to avoid the music hrs just cause I like to focus on my food. Anyways if youre not a michelin star chef give it a try, if not there is no lack of similar places in town ,im sure youll find one that meets your sophisticated palate.

Great seafood with modern Mexican flavors. Service was awesome. The menu is initially in Spanish but has English descriptions after. There was also a surprise street mariachi band that provided live music.

Not really great service and really hard to communicate if you don't speak Spanish. The food was a bit overpriced but it tasted excellent and was really fresh. I had the Momias and my husband had the Dragoncito

Worst Mariscos I've ever had!!!! Save your $ don't go. I'm not one to normally write reviews but felt inclined to this time. Over priced, we ordered shrimp tacos and mojarra, over cooked , no flavor. Service was bad too, won't ever come here again.
