Pretty tasty tacos, and I liked the salsas. Worth a stop if you're craving tacos and in the area. The meat was reasonably flavorful, I loved the cheesiness, and the price is more than fair. They also don't skimp on the portion sizes, so a great spot if you're very hungry.
With that said, I'm going to be a little harsh and admit that out of all the 4 different spots I've had birria tacos this year, these were the bottom of the heap.
This year, I've had Kiké's red tacos in Denver, "La Unica" in LA, Kalaka Mexican Kitchen in Evergreen, CO, and El Consomé de Morelos on Colfax.
These were the unfortunately the weakest of the four for a few reasons:
- The best quesabirria tacos have one thing in common: crispy tortilla. El Consomé de Morelos unfortunately does not have the crispy shell, which docks it a bit ("Kiké's" and "La Unica" in LA absolutely nail this).
- Out of all four consomé spots I've been, el consomé de morelos had the least flavorful and most watery consomé. This is the only consomé that neither my wife and I chose to drink / finish after eating the tacos.
- Meat was NOT BAD at all, but was the least flavorful of the four.
I definitely WOULD go back here, don't get me wrong, and I wish I could give 3.5 instead of 3. But I've also got to be honest, these are not the best birria in town.
