El Coquí Brings Puerto Rican Fare to Portland’s Food Cart Scene | Eater Portland

"Chef Anthony "Tony" Banegas is bringing the flavors of San Juan, Puerto Rico to Portland with his new food cart, which will join other Latin American vendors at Portland Mercado; I’m excited that El Coquí will serve Puerto Rico’s signature monfongo — a bowl of fried green plantains filled with pork, vegetables, or chicken — and will also offer pinchos (skewers), empanadas, and bacalaitos (cod fish fritters). Follow them on Facebook for the latest updates." - Erin Perkins

We stopped and ordered food to go as we were listening to music at Intuition Brewery. I ordered the Pechuga A La Milanesa. The chicken was mosit and not dry. The sauce and cheese had lots of flavor. My friends ordered the special for the day and enjoyed that as well. The service was friendly and prompt.

I've never had Puerto Rican food before it was delicious! There was a slight language barrier but we just rolled with it. We ordered the flat steak it was very chewy but well seasoned with the fried plantains were absolutely delicious 🤤 We also ordered a chicken dish with rice and plantains in it. The chicken was fabulous, tender and well seasoned and the rice was a bit bland. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait it was closer to 40 minutes but we will be back again to try new foods!

A esta fecha 2025, El Coqui es el único restaurante exclusivamente de comida puertorriqueña en Minnesota. El servicio fue muy bueno y el ambiente muy agradable.
