El Doncel

"In this distinctly medieval town, a restaurant such as El Doncel definitely attracts more attention than usual thanks to its contrast between its modern cuisine and its renovated rustic setting in a large 18C house. The Pérez brothers (Enrique manning the kitchen; Eduardo working as maître d’ and sommelier), have inherited a restaurant with a long culinary tradition, taking over the reins with an enthusiastic and honest approach to their work. Their cuisine is presented on two menus (one gastronomic, the other à la carte), the cutting-edge culinary focus of which is on the flavours of the region, always respecting seasonal ingredients yet without closing the door on external influences. They have also incorporated some highly innovative techniques, such as the use of pulsed electric field technology! The crockery, which they have designed themselves, is made by a local artisan. Guestrooms are also available for those wishing to stay the night." - Michelin Inspector

Authentic, delicious and honest food. One of my favorite places in the world. If you want to have a taste of real off-the-radar Spanish cuisine, this is your place.

Best restaurant in Sigüenza. Amazing experience, 1 Michelin star at really good price

Great food. Had the tasting menu and every dish did not disappoint. Service was good. Versus 3 star Michelin standard the service could have been a little more professional. English is a barrier so the explanation of the food and courses was very basic. Wine is very reasonably priced. And the Euro being at par with the dollar made the cost reasonable.

Michelín quality dishes. Best fresh produce and treated with expertise and respect by the chef and the waiters. A great experience, we would recommend to anyone within 100km of Siguenza. The staff speak English if you need help. They kindly gave me a English menu without asking

We stayed at El Doncel during our honeymoon for 1 night. We had been driving all day and arrived late to the hotel however the receptionist was really helpful reassured me that this was not a problem. Our room was really lovely, clean and tidy with a nice bathroom and good shower. The restaurant was amazing, the waiter had such great knowledge of all the local food and wine and we enjoyed a very good meal. We explained that we needed to leave quite early in the morning and the waiter said he would open up the restaurant early for us so that we could enjoy the breakfast aswell.||We had a very comfortable night and would definitely go back again!||Thank you for a lovely stay.

Fabulous. Do Not miss El Doncel restaurant. We had the gastronomic menu, and it was delightful. I will never forget the Corzo course - perfection in a bowl. If I ever visit again this area, I will go out of my way to enjoy a meal here again.

Great location that is super close to the train station, right across the street from the Alameda and very close to the cathedral. The room was very clean and comfortable. Friendly and professional staff and the food is AMAZING. I just really wish that the breakfast was still included. That was the only let down. Overall, El Doncel is a great place to stay!!

An absolute gem - from the service which was professional yet friendly, to the food which was delicious and definitely deserving of awards, with none of the pretension you may expect. We shared starters and mains a la carte and not the degustation menu (only because I was not sure I could manage it, not through lack of will!) and every dish was extremely well presented, but above all tasted amazing. The trout tartare was a joint favourite but everything was excellent - ravioli, meatballs and lamb (much better described in the menu), and a delicate, not too heavy, desert. Great wine list and we went with their recommendation (not at all pricey) which worked very well. Very good value too. Overall, if you are in Sigüenza, just go!
