The Tastiest Latin Restaurants in Philly | Eater Philly

"One of the most prominent Dominican restaurants in the city, this spot has been impressing diners with their infusion of Caribbean cuisine as well. Try their Mofongo Del Mar (fried green plantains mashed with garlic and pork), Mondongo (cow tripe soup), and drink their delicious Morir Sonando (fresh orange juice with evaporated milk)." - Ernest Owens

I went here 4 different times and 3 outta those 4 times was a good experience. The last time I bought food, rice tasted burnt, the amount of food was a lot smaller than the 3 other times I came here. And I asked for chicken cutlet, they gave 3 chicken tenders that were probably frozen from the store. Nice staff and all but a huge disappointment the last time I went there.

I’ve been eating Latin food all my life. Passed this restaurant so many times that I had no order choice but to stop in this time because I was hungry. I’ll tell you what, if you are into eating great food, meeting awesome people and spending hard earned money…do all of those things right here! The food here is cooked with Love!❤️.

El Fogon is the first Dominican restaurant that I've ate at since moving to Philadelphia and can honestly say I enjoyed the food and the service. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. The music was a little loud so it made it a little difficult to hear the person taking my order but regardless, it was good food.

Me and my partner stopped here tonight on a date - we had no expectations. But y’all let me tell you!! The staff was very nice and accommodating. We got bistec encebollado, arroz, habichuelas, jugo de parcha y tamarindo, and some tostones. Our mesera even offered us potato salad - it was so good! The meat was tender and juicy, the beans were seasoned perfectly, highly recommend!!!!

Yelp
Really nice new restaurant, the food is excellent and so are the margaritas. We really liked the out door vibe. One of our favorite dishes is the octopus. The staff is very nice, though They seem to still be figuring things out since they have only been open a month. They forget to clear dirty dishes as they bring new courses out, just a minor observation.
